2013 Bitcoin Conference. Security Panel. 1 year ago.

MyriadCoin was predicted by Dan Kaminsky, at least discussed seriously in public.

Jump to 41:00 and see the benefit of a blockchain like MyriadCoin's be realized.

If you still needed confidence to hold long-term, here it is. Smiley

Thanks, pierce.

Community people, should Myriad appear here or not? http://coinalliance.org/index.html
Maybe it can benefit us...

Maybe Myriad should also be involved in : https://prypto.com ...just saying..Smiley) Why? Because we need to be everywhere, anywhere, so everybody can find out about the beauty of the modular 5POW blockchain

I'll look into Coinalliance.org

i bought at 0.00000464 but i think price is dropping.

Hype cycles. Don't worry Smiley

Qubit p2p pool needs more hash power

http://p2poolcoin.com:5567/static/
I was just going to post the same message, thanks for support. I don't understand why so few people use p2pool.
Anyway, i put some of my rigs back to help the node.

70% of the qubit hash is on the myr.nonce-pool.com, that's not nice to have all this power centralized.

Don't forget everyone can make a p2pool node for qubit with this source code:
https://github.com/linked67/p2pool-myrq

Excellent point to make again. Pool owners won't like it but it's the truth.

what's going on with the scrypt pools?

nut2pools suddenly dropped dead, stablehash won't let me create workers and displays diff 7k, the others seem dead..

edit: well, everything back to normal with nut nut pools. but i think i'm gonna join shoelesssteve on eminer for a while Cheesy

Just keep reporting if pools are sucking and someone will jump in with a better one. Smiley

https://bitbucket.org/iopq/automatic-algo-switcher-for-myriadcoin

I've been testing it for a day and it seems like it works. One problem though: when I start another algo and the pool is down cgminer doesn't allow api access for some reason. So I can't close it unless I kill the process.
whoops I forgot to push the run.php, fixed

I'm tweeting this out and posting it on reddit so we can get more beta testers. I'm trying it tonight Smiley You came out of no where with this!
Let me know what you think. Someone on Reddit requested an ezpz version. I guess I could include all of the miners in a .zip so more people will try it. Anything else to make it easier?

Yeah that would make it easier for me to use, but I just never had the time to last night and today. If you update it let me know here

Is there any way there can be updates pushed to the wallet to help people whenever there are hardforks or other important announcements in the future?

whelp. sounds like ocminers pool actually does accept fake shares :/ guess its only the p2pools left

Is there a way to contact him about this?

Yup, just write me a PM and i'll have a look, somebody just did and I checked it, everything is good, a new exploit in ahmed's code was found and is fixed now, let's see which one they find next.

Message me directly next time you see suspicious behaviour, I cannot look at the pool the whole day Smiley

thx

Oh I see now ok. We'll make sure to MSG you Smiley

I wonder what it is that is keeping the price down on this coin. It's one of the most innovative around, it's a big solution for many miners to never give a shit about asics since every algo finds coins with the same pace.

I won't stop mining this til price drops to 100 sat. This will be the coin that will blow up in my opinion, wish more people would start mining it already. Smiley

Don't worry about the price. It'll swing a lot during the day but we will be fine. We are working our butts off on real stuff for the coin and on top of it with have Blocktech working with us in Brazil. People will catch on soon Smiley Don't stop mining!

675  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Myriad Community Protocol/Guidelines for an Algorithm Switching Event on: April 16, 2014, 06:28:51 AM

Myriad Community Protocol/Guidelines for an Algorithm Switching Event
Quote
Note: This is a rough draft I made so we can get the ball rolling for an organized guideline. We need to decide on the specifics I outlined at the bottom. Let me know if I'm forgetting anything, too. Thanks!
Purpose of Guideline
The goal of this guideline is to help the Myriad community reach consensus about future algorithm switching decisions and an efficient way to prepare for the event.

Background
Cryptocurrency mining (i.e. generating currency) offers an extra layer of freedom on top of cryptocurrency transacting (i.e. spending/receiving currency) and should be considered a financial right for all people in a truly decentralized system. The industrialization of SHA-256d ASICs rendered Bitcoin incapable of providing this liberty to the rest of the world. The same can be said for Scrypt and will be said for any coin with a single (or chain) algorithm whenever its market cap ominously intersects with Moore’s Law. The presence of ASICs provide enhanced network security for emerging cryptocurrencies, however, so an attempt to exclude them renders the coin vulnerable to attacks while also failing to prevent ASIC design in the long run.

Myriad solves these issues by allowing five modular algorithms to independently solve blocks on the same blockchain and making it easy to swap algorithms in the future.

Purpose of Algorithm Switching Event
The main purpose of replacing a Myriad algorithm is to ensure mining remains an option for as much of the world as possible. The dual layer of freedom provided by Myriad should be considered a global financial sanctuary and protected at all costs. An algorithm should be switched if it has been compromised by an ASIC or an outside algorithm is invented that spontaneously enables a larger population of the world to mine (i.e. some form of “human” mining).

Current Algorithms (Each algo receives ⅕ total block rewards over time)
1) SHA-256d (ASICs)
2) Scrypt (home GPU miners, GPU farms, and ASICs)
3) Skein (home GPU miners, GPU farms)
4) Groestl (home GPU miners, GPU farms)
5) Qubit (home GPU miners, GPU farms)
Current Summary ~1.5 algos have ASICs, ~3.5 algos do not.

Protocol Specifics to Reach Consensus On
-How many algorithms should have ASICs and how many should be GPU only?
    1) ⅕ ASIC, ⅘ GPU
    2) ⅖ ASIC, ⅗ GPU
-If ASIC design for one of Myriad’s algorithms is announced, how soon should the switching event occur?
-What factors go in to choosing the new algorithm?
-How will the algorithm be ultimately decided?
-What should be done for the pools hosting the algorithm to be switched out? Will they be given time and incentive to switch?
-What will be done for the non-ASIC miners that favor that algorithm?
-Should a switching announcement be pushed to Myriad wallets for those not checking Myriad every day?
-How will the multi-algo GUI miner adjust to the new algorithm?
-A p2pool should be created immediately.
-Will the new algorithm be tested for coins/scrypt benchmarks before the switch?
-Block explorers and coin profitability websites should be given time to adjust?
-Anything else?

I have created a rough draft of a community guide/protocol for future "algorithm switching events". I need the community's input on protocol specifics so we can reach consensus on what to do long before it's needed. I think this is the most appropriate solution and it may be used for reference material.
