6621  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Are altcoins better than bicoins right now? on: September 10, 2018, 06:57:49 AM
With the price of bitcoin continuously going down, do you think that altcoins could be better right now than bitcoins? I trust that bitcoin prices will still rise perhaps next year, but with the price still going down, maybe altcoins have a better chance. What do you guys think?
You don't necessarily go buying altcoins for the sake of it simply because Bitcoin is dipping. That will be pure gambling and not trading. Your first step should be to find out what the alt you want to acquire has to offer. What type of crypto is it and what the roadmap is about. You should also look into the dev team and follow that up with the 'historical data' if the crypto is already listed on the CMC. For me I like alts that have use-cases, not just a rave of the moment altcoins.
6622  Other / Meta / Re: This senseless cheating should stop on: September 10, 2018, 06:32:49 AM
It happened to me long ago...

I can tell you worst than this: when someone uses half of your full name  IRL to make an account on Bitcointalk.... :/
This can be really tough and dicey, especially the second sentence. With that in mind, I can even foresee a situation where some of these cheaters may unscrupulously input another user's wallet ID just to make that user look fraudulent. There's no way you can really tag these cheaters on this because the bitcointalk profile links aren't theirs. This is a sad situation we have here.
6623  Other / Meta / This senseless cheating should stop on: September 09, 2018, 06:07:31 PM
I don't know if this is the right section for this post. The mod can move it appropriately if not. It's an observation I got recently on a telegram bounty and
I have reached out to the concerned manager in charge. I hope he follows it up, anyway.

In addition, I decided to make this post because I believe the same fraud cuts across all other social media bounties.

Here is the thing. Some unscrupulous participants of the said Telegram bounty (name withheld) used profile links of some reputable members of this forum whom I believe aren't even aware of this bounty.

The first that caught my eyes as I ran through the spreadsheet was Nullius. I screamed. Instantly, I knew it was someone else using his profile. Nullius was last active here around April. With the little I knew of him while he was active here I can vehemently bet he wouldn't have such luxury of time to indulge a telegram campaign.

Then I looked beneath him and I saw some other users I believe don't even know about the bounty let alone participate in it. Well, to cut the long story short and proffer a solution to a future occurrence I came up with an idea.

It would be a preventive measure if Bounty Managers (especially for social media) would always send a pm to every bitcointalk profile whose links are filled in the Google form as a kind of validation. That way, users get to know whenever a cheater is trying to use their links. I think this will go a long way to keep this bounty cheaters off. Why link someone to a bounty he doesn't even know about.
6624  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin is just to complicated for the average person to use.. on: September 09, 2018, 04:27:00 PM
1980: No one will ever have a personal computer it is to complicated to use and serves no purpose.

1990: No one will ever use the internet it's to complicated to use and serves no purpose have you heard of a video recorder.
These illustrations are very apt to the faith most people are keeping up with that despite how bashed cryptocurrency has undergone by some government idiots or how complex the man in the streets think it is, bitcoin will eventually become mainstream.

Going to the topic, I think what makes bitcoin seem difficult is the technicalities involved with the blockchain phenomenon. Non science inclined minds and programmers (including yours truly) always find it slightly hard to understand the workings of the bitcoin because of the manner of innovation involved. Soon, the whole blockchain tech will be easily understood just like how the computer and Internet are today clearly understood.
6625  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Where to keep BTC if I don't want to keep in exchange? on: September 07, 2018, 09:01:43 AM
Keep in a safe wallet. You can get simple but highly trusted wallets like Coinomi or Blockchain even from a Google playstore app on an Android phone. All you must do is ensure you have your passphrase copied out and tucked somewhere safe. I have used these two for over a year now and haven't had any issues with them.

However, you can get other wallet types here through this link: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1628282.0
6626  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Pennsylvania Catholic Church covers up 300 chomo priests on: September 06, 2018, 11:33:40 AM
Sorry, chomo is prison slang for child molestor, i.e. pedophile...
https://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=chomo
Well, for sane folks like us here who don't own a prison dictionary I felt it was a spelling error of 'Homo'. Thumbs up for the head-on. Come to think of it, the Catholic Church has always been enmeshed in sex scandals of recent. It could be because more virile young men are now absorbed into the seminaries and theological schools. These encaged lust and huge sexual appetites will always seek an outlets for expression. For these pervert priests, they rather stick it in a male than a female to avoid pregnancy talks. Come to think of it, I don't even know why priests don't get married. There's nowhere in the Bible that advises such thing as celibacy. Absolutely, nowhere!
6627  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What will keep people from getting into cryptocurrency? on: September 06, 2018, 06:53:55 AM
as for the reason you mentioned, things like volatility, unpredictability,... will only drive people away from investing in bitcoin.
Beyond all that which I bolded in your comment, I think the issue of FUD and lack of regulation are major banes to bitcoin investment. After all, we also have volatility and unpredictability in the Forex market but the FX market is highly regulated and that has come to affirm investors confidence.
6628  Other / Meta / Re: Just A Crazy Thinking. on: September 06, 2018, 05:16:20 AM
Has anyone ever thought of Theymos being in a coma, only to get his gig up once in a year...Every April 1st to play the foolery?

Actually, I have two crazy thoughts and the second is that the dude is incapacitated and sissified by a cabal here.

The prize?

Immunity to create several alts.

What do you mean by "immunity to create several alts"? As far as i know, all people have immunity to create several alts and it does not violate the rule of this forum. The alts can even join in a campaign but need to be on different campaign. Even some people on the list have some alts already till now.
Dude, are you feigning ignorance or you truly don't know that it's an offence to own an alt? It might not have been a problem from Genesis but there's something that says otherwise now somewhere in revelation here.
6631  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Crypto down trend market on: September 04, 2018, 07:44:19 AM
For me this is a period of correction in the market, where things tend to recover a level of capitalization more in line with a more realistic performance, adequate to what had been observed during the years leading up to the great boom of 2017. Therefore, I would expect that after this critical period we can observe greater stability in prices, with a potential recovery in the medium term, but in a way not as fast as many expect.
From critical observation, it is crystal clear now that what is happening in the market isn't the foretold correction everyone expected. This has lingered far too long. I believe what is keeping the market low at this time is FUD and that lack of confidence where cryptocurrency will be headed next.
6632  Economy / Reputation / Re: Suspicious signature campaign !!! icoforums.net on: August 27, 2018, 06:24:29 AM
People need to be careful with their accounts in there. I've seen people who uses the same username registered here and then in icoforums. If the forum turns out to be a scam, I'm sure the people behind it can take advatage of users data and may even try to hack their account in bitcointalk.
Can you re-ead your comment and still maintain the trash you are saying here? You are struggling to farm  unnecessary panic and that won't scale through.Do you think the site would need anyone registering on the site before hacking their accounts when they can afford to visit BTT and copy them?

Except you are suggesting that users used the same password on that site as they used here. Using the same username isn't same as using the same password.

LMAO, this is one of the worst campaign we had this year.
Yes, I quite agree that there were a hell of spammers recruited for the ICOforums site but what about saying it was the highest paying bounty in a short while? I am sure you would've abandoned ships to join in if the campaign had continued longer. I hope they get their acts right and up running again.
6633  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Bounties (Altcoins) / Re: [OPEN]⭐ICOForums.net | Signature Campaign | ETH Weekly Payment⭐ on: August 25, 2018, 07:59:48 AM
I haven't recieved my payment till now.
I am on legendary member spreadsheet #2

Ouch! I bet the admin mistook that "not valid" link for your account. That error should expectedly and speedily be sorted out. You deserve your payment. You should pm the admin at the other forum.
6634  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Bounties (Altcoins) / Re: [OPEN]⭐ICOForums.net | Signature Campaign | ETH Weekly Payment⭐ on: August 24, 2018, 06:59:23 PM

Which account will you use to represent the ICOforum here? I would like to leave positive feedback after I receiving my payment. I think everyone should do it. Because even after the confusion with the former manager, you're honoring the payments.
I have also received my payment and I think it's a commendable effort on the ICOforum admin to have stepped up his game to save the ugly situation caused by the absconded manager.

I will wait to see how the whole thing pans out before giving him a positive trust. However, I encourage everyone who has received their payments to comment here.
6635  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Bounties (Altcoins) / Re: [OPEN]⭐ICOForums.net | Signature Campaign | ETH Weekly Payment⭐ on: August 23, 2018, 01:20:00 PM
Hi sir,

Can I see the spreadsheet of the week 1? I have not yet receive the payment. I have comply the task. I hope I can receive it. Thank you sir.
The admin is not actually online and we are not also paid yet.

I only see one user who confirmed he received payment. Anyone else?

This must be your ultimate test now. Legendster warned you. The wallet is verified that its admin's wallet and have tons of ether one it but was it sent to an escrow? I think not. I'm very much cautious to these too good to be true signature campaigns here because whenever that happens its usually what it is. He now has his own database. Good job Admin.

I only see one user who confirmed he received payment. Anyone else? Trash comment.

Didn't you follow up on the tx ID from etherscan?

The manager has already paid Jnr to Member ranks and will continue with Full Member to Legendary soon today. I am hopeful this is a good bounty. Perhaps you may want to join us at the third week.
6636  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: How did you feel about your first payment???? on: August 21, 2018, 04:53:38 PM
Now that I look back on that era with reminiscence, I want to treasure that day. It was an unbelievable time for me and it was just for a registration thingy I did on a social media site for a dude here. I was a freshman then in this forum, like a Jnr Member and the payment was 0.001btc. The value then was around $1. For the fact that I could get my first Bitcoin payment easily delivered to my wallet got me all excited. It was quite a moment.
6637  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Can you wait? on: August 21, 2018, 03:32:45 PM
The present situation of the market has caused panic into the minds of some crypto enthusiasts. Some have not seen so much dip as this. One thing i know is that, crypto is very volatile. So no matter how much it falls, it will definitely rise back. Just watch out for what will happen in few weeks' time.
I will only urge you to wait and do not sell in panic.
Patience is a virtue. In fact, it is the major ingredient in crypto trading. Any trader who can't afford that luxury of patience and discipline his psychology always end in losses. Patience is the aggregate of 'Waiting'.
6638  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Never Give Up on Your Dreams on: August 21, 2018, 02:40:46 PM
One thing about dream is that the dreamer has to wake up to actualize it. Dreams only become realities when we work towards them. Like that vivid picture in the OP, no one truly knows how close they are to their dreams when the circumstances around that journey become very stiff and tough. When wealthy people recount their stories you will discover that in some cases they came close to quitting.

Quitters don't win. Winners don't quit!
6639  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: How much do you invest in an ICO? on: August 21, 2018, 09:22:23 AM
Edit: many of the answers were, whether one should invest in an ICO at all. My question was intended to understand more specifically what's the average person place nowadays in an ICO, IF they participate. I am interested in data, about a typical average ICO investment, not whether anyone should or shouldn't invest in an ICO.
Those days when I did ICOs I was particular about risking just $100 on any project that caught my fancy. So, how many coins that could buy then depended on the project's going price. That's on my average spending. There were instances when I risked less like in the Electroneum ICO where I vested a mere $30.
6640  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Difference between Coin and Token? on: August 21, 2018, 06:05:10 AM
Basically, as a function, coin act like money, they may be sent, received nor mined by the miners (act like money). While tokens have a different function besides can be sent or received, such as offer a product or service that a part of the project. Both can use for payment/rewards.
This almost got my definition except the part where I get to add that coins have their own blockchain and not rely on the blockchain of another existing cryptocurrency. It is in this view that I refer to all ERC cryptos as tokens because they are either built on the ethereum or Waves blockchain. It doesn't matter if the market price is high or not.
