6641  Other / Meta / Re: Need help about account on: May 18, 2021, 01:55:14 PM
What if he didn't told us about this fact and start posting with a new account ? There is no way to tell then if a person was banned previously and now using a new account ?
If someone is banned already, he can open another account but most likely he will have the same posting style like that of the previously banned account(s), that is why it is not only the account that was banned, but the person that owns the account. Like if someone is a spammer and he is banned, he will most likely open another account and make the same mistake that will result to another (new account) ban.
6642  Other / Meta / Re: Need help about account on: May 18, 2021, 12:25:21 PM
maybe I will start all over again with this new account. Can you tell me a topic that provides steps that beginners must do in order to rank up?
In order to rank up, you'll need to have merits and activity. In summary, you slowly gain activity points for staying active and merits for making useful/helpful posts.
The issue of his banned account must be addressed first, he can not just start using this account now (aside posting in meta about the banned account) once that is resolved, he can then be using this one or the old receovered one depending on the final discussion. If not, this account will only be considered as ban evasion which can result to another ban.
6643  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin TapRoot Update? on: May 18, 2021, 09:39:59 AM
Is it known or can it be roughly calculated by how much the Taproot upgrade will increase Bitcoin't transaction capacity? Are we talking substantial increase or just a minor improvement?
Before you will be able to get clearer view and able to know answers to your question, know that Taproot is about key aggregation, the more there are public keys used to open a multisig wallet, the more the transaction fee, schnorr signature will be able to aggregate the keys during transaction, this makes multisig transaction indistinguishable and making it to have low fee, irrespective of the numbers of keys used to open the multisig wallet that makes use of schnoor signature for signing, the transaction fee will be the same.

To understand more about this:
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5140134.msg57011585#msg57011585

But if you think it will make transaction fee very low, it does not work that way, the activation will focus more reducing multisig transaction fee and making such transaction indistinguishable from single payment wallet.
6644  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Difference between sat/byte, sat/WU and sat/vByte? on: May 18, 2021, 08:49:44 AM
Making use of transaction size can not give accurate feerate while using nested segwit and native segwit addresses for transaction, it is only accurate when using legacy addresses, legacy address are not to be used because segwit can save up fee in a way lower fee will be used for transaction. So far segwit transactions make use of weight (vbyte) and not size (byte), the weight unit or vbyte should be used. So far mempool observers are estimating in vbytes, bitcoin transaction in feerate should be in sat/vbyte, although multiplying the feerate in sat/WU by 4 will still also give the result of sat/vbyte, but byte (size if the transaction) will give wrong feerate and fee estimation entirely for both nested and native segwit transactions.
6645  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: Taproot proposal on: May 18, 2021, 08:33:12 AM
Yes bro, they are getting there: looking at the stats, one thing was a bit odd, Binance pool had only one block signaling taproot over 40. There are a few pools which are behaving in a weird way but maybe that is me that I do not know very much about how the whole thing works.
As I write we are above 78.08%: only 12% missing. Not so bad  Wink
Binance pool has 2 signals over 44 now, but it is truly somehow, but I remember when mining pools were to show support for Taproot, Binance pool got me annoyed as it does not show support for Taproot earlier, but it later showed support. I think Binance pool will still also show green signal but it can take time as the pool like delaying.
6646  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin TapRoot Update? on: May 18, 2021, 08:16:13 AM
What is TapRoot?
To be getting update about Taproot, you can set notification on this thread, Taproot proposal. Most mining pools are signalling for Taproot activation, this is an evidence that this can not result to hard fork, it will be a soft fork activation, which means there is no swap to a new chain, the normal bitcoin blockchain will also be used for tracking Taproot transactions. So far it does not lead to hardfork, holders will not get any forked coin because no new coin is created, nothing also like airdrop that will be reward. Nobody knows when Taproot will finally be fully activated but the progress has been positive, but its activation will be this year.

Make una put mount for this matter oh, wetin be the way forward? Make we just lock up or convert?.
In my opinion, e no bad. But I dey think say the price of bitcoin no go fall below $40000, the support for that price dey strong. But na just prediction be that, if we convert ham go USDT, e go make sense too.
6649  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Electrum+EPS+Trezor - All connected but zero balance? on: May 17, 2021, 08:40:02 PM
Have electrum connected to my full node and everything looks fine.
Electrum can not connect to full node, electrum is a SPV wallet, but I guess you meant electrum has fully sychronized with the blockchain.

Issue is.. Electrum is showing a balance of zero, when this Trezor has UTXOs.
Still make sure your wallet is fully sychronized with the blockchain
Check your transaction history to check if there is any unauthorized sent transaction(s)
Maybe you are using a very old version of electrum, try to update your electrum from https://electrum.org and verify its signature

I believe trying these will be helpful.
6650  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: No confirmations for 6+hrs on: May 17, 2021, 02:00:17 PM
5.20 sat/vbyte, i didn't select "mempool" while selecting fee rate, it was set to "static" if it makes any difference
The feerate that can get your transaction confirmed in the next block is around 80 sat/vbyte, you can try to wait to see if the mempool will become less congested, but that may not happen during the weekdays, I will advice you to pump the fee.

You can track the feerate here:
https://mempool.space/

If you can not wait, replace-by-fee is by default on electrum, click on the unconfirmed transaction on electrum, you should be able to pump the fee, you can pump the fee to a feerate of 16 to 20 sat/vbyte and see if it will be confirmed in the next 1 or 2 hours.
6651  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: No confirmations for 6+hrs on: May 17, 2021, 01:39:28 PM
The mempool is not that congested yet, what is the feerate that you used?

6653  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Do you know person that predicted this retracement ? on: May 17, 2021, 10:52:30 AM
<...>
Also traders should learn how to control emotions, this is the mistake most of them are repeatedly making, when the price of a coin is reducing, they will not buy when they suppose to buy, but they will be buying when the price of the coin has rise back when the direction its heading is hard to predict. It is profitable for traders to be patient, crypto market almost have similar patterns, but only experienced traders are able to know this to trade appropriately and profitably.
6654  Economy / Reputation / Re: Why all these fake conversations? on: May 17, 2021, 10:16:25 AM
Fake I mean when they are in a conversation they do not even read what the other person wrote just before them, they don't see what others are posting. They visit a topic then make their own posts, ask questions which are already there or they just elaborate someone else's post. Most of these people do not even add any value to their posts.
I did noticed this too, but I think it is when post thread is already long enough in a way the user can not read all the replies, but some are even annoying at times when the person should have know answers would have been in the present replies but yet not reading through but replying what has already been obviously answered. Sometimes, you just have to ignor such posts, while some can be annoying to the extent it deserves reporting it.

I noticed even hero, legendary members are doing this same.
If you think any post deserves to be reported, just click on the report button at the lower right side of each post to easily report it, no rank is above report.

It's annoying to see a topic about someone who is only few weeks inactive
The last I noticed was a member that is 2 to 3 months inactive, but tagging such account a neutral tag would have been better, and such account needs monitoring in case of...

it's annoying to see Elon musk related topics
This can happen because his tweet has effect on bitcoin price, there are some of the topic about Elon but yet not similar and can bring about different replies. But if you see opening post thread the same as one already posted, then report it. I do not hesitate to report such post. I do also post under the new similar topic the link of the already existing topic, pasting the link so that the thread creator can lock the new thread and join the old one.

it's annoying to see I have ranked up and now I am writing because you need inspiration
They are not only doing it because of inspiration, they are doing it to also receive merit, as a form of 'I have tried and contributed on this forum'. This will make some people and merit sources to merit them, some people including merit sources that have not really noticed them before can even because of this go through their topic and post history to award them some merits, if they have done good and contributed to this forum, I believe they deserve it.

it's annoying to see bitcoin is dumping and more than 10 topics about it.
Report such opening post threads like I explained above, if the thread has no reply already, post the link the the already existing one and ask the person that created the thread to lock it. This will not even let other people to post under such thread.
6655  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: KYC - IDENTITY VERIFICATION or IDENTITY THEFT on: May 17, 2021, 09:52:17 AM
As you know, KYC is something that you often have to do on exchanges
As you know, KYC is something that you often have to do on centralized exchanges.

since KYC on exchanges won't bring any consequences, it's still good.
Kyc on exchanges can result to phishing attempt, especially during data breach, we are in the world that peoples information are used against them during phishing attacks, it is possible that some phishing attacks are actually as a result of data breach on these exchanges. See what Ledger data breach caused, even when it is a hardware wallet manufacturing company. Giving out kyc on any platform has its own risk, exchanges included.

As you know, cryptocurrency works on blockchain, and anonymity is its prerogative.
It will be good if you use pseudonymity because the transactions can still be seen on blockchain but not linked to users.
6656  Local / Nigeria (Naija) / Re: Nigeria Local Board {Official language, Pidgin} on: May 17, 2021, 09:05:06 AM
I no know about Binance app notifications because I barely set price alert unlike before. But you fit try out Tabtrader app. Them support multiple exchanges and binance na one of them. Their notification setup dey okay. Try am out. You just set price alert there and them go still inform you coz them get binance markets integrated.
Binance app has its own notification, but not coming up with sound is the issue. But I have just downloaded Tabtrader from Google playstore through that Google playstore link I provided.

I carefully compared it with the price on Binance, it is just the price-alerting app I should have gone for, the price is exactly the same as that with the coin price on the exchange I wanted to track (although I used Binance). The alert came up with vibration and sound.
6657  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: global-options.org Ponzi Scheme. on: May 17, 2021, 07:42:06 AM
This is a nice idea, for people to be able to see it while searching for online contents. It will be good if humans understand the law of nature, no investment can successfully provide 20% daily than Ponzi which will eventually collapse in which many investors will lose, this is just the frequent means scammers like to lure ignorant people to invest and lost their money after the scammers are on top of the pyramid using Peter money to pay Paul. After the whole population have invested, people at the lowest part of the pyramid will be numerous and will lose, staying away from such scheme is the best for not to lose.
6658  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: General noob BTC/Altcoin buying question on: May 17, 2021, 06:51:09 AM
Is there ever an instance where a crypto is being sold at a certain price even though the market price for the crypto never falls to the set price? Say you want to sell for 0.50 USDT but the market price never falls below 0.52 USDT but your Order is filled because someone bought at the 0.50 USDT Order Book price. Does this mean that you've lost money? Since the Market Price never went down to 0.50? I am a little confused on this.
Do not contradict yourself, once someone is ready and set his/her buying price at $0.50, then the limit order price should be at that price for people to buy. Although the order book is more complex than this but this is how it works, sellers will set prices, buyers will buy at that price, buyers will also set prices while sellers will sell at that price if they like. The people that set price are the market makers while the people that are buying and selling immediately are market takers. If the price set is filled, then the order will be filled.

You should be able to know the difference between limit order and market order, I believe this will totally answer your question.

If you buy or sell using limit order, the order will be filled exactly at your order price. For example, if Bitcoin price is at $50100, you set the limit order buying price at $50050, when the market falls to $50050 or below, the order will be placed and you will buy it exactly at $50050. But if you used market order, the coin will be bought at $50100 or higher price or price slightly higher in a way you will no notice differences.

Reverse is the case for low volume coins and shit coins, that is why it is good to always use limit order, there was a day I bought a coin, the price of the coin at the time was $0.0022, if I use limit order, it can take time like hours or more before my limit order will be filled, I wanted to buy the coin at the same price ($0.0022) it did not filled for hours, which means nobody was selling at that price, I later had to use market order, and the trade was filled at $0.0017, it was a loss for me.
6659  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Argent wallet feedback required on: May 17, 2021, 06:10:18 AM
This should be in altcoin board

First if all, Argent wallet is not a Bitcoin wallet, it is just an Ethereum wallet that can be used to stake, that is, it is a DeFi wallet. The wallet does not generate users seed phrase, it is a no seed phrase wallet.

Has anyone used argent wallet (https://www.argent.xyz/), how would you compare it's security compared to hardware wallets?
How can an online wallet be compared with a hardware wallets that have private key basically and totally offline.

The wallet also require phone number and email, this is not a privacy wallet at all.

Lastly, the wallet is claiming to be a noncustodial wallet, how can a no seed phrase or a no private key wallet be a noncustododial wallet, this is one of the lies from such wallets, users have no full control but lying to people they have full control over their asset.
