I don't see it as a good alternative to ads. Malware is malware, plain and simple.
I agree almost nothing can be worse than annoying autoplaying flash videos with audio. It's one of the worst forms of malware.
I've tried to avoid autoplaying videos by not upgrading my flash player so that Firefox doesn't start it automatically and I have to manually allow it to start. This often helps but many ads still autostart.
Another annoyance is videos that re-position themselves on-screen when you mute the sound and scroll them out of sight.
I suppose advertising does serve a purpose in that it lets you know what products to boycott, but at times it gets so infuriating that I want to actively badmouth the products.
Does anyone know of a good ad blocker that targets this annoying malware?
Jimbo ABP NoScript I have not seen an online ad in like 4 years man, do yourself a favor.

yea, probably.
I mean...normally I see the wisdom of not attributing to malice that which can be explained by mere stupidity, but, am I to believe that decision makers at that level are actually that retarded?? Which leaves it as an act of communication; they are expressing their contempt for us, rubbing our noses in our powerlessness. "what'cha gonna do huh? lol what'cha gonna do?"

Anybody ever had any luck getting old Cayman (6950, 6970) cards to work with this?
I tried under Ubuntu 16.04 and ran into an OpenCL wall, the AMD drivers only work up to 14.04 and the open source drivers don't support the older cards.
I tried under Win7 and the cards got hot, but just returned incorrect data to the pool.

ILEGAL firearms (I think owning full auto is illegal in USA)
The story is that the weapons were legally purchased semi-auto rifles and he used a bumpstock. This does jive with the MSM video, where the cycle rate, while clearly too fast for individual trigger pulls, is really too slow for true automatic fire. I have seen nothing so far to suggest that the alleged 32nd floor shooter used illegally obtained or full auto weapons.

you're all lunatics.
Until we're not, at which point that which was so recently the most appallingly irresponsible speculation suddenly becomes so yawn inducing that it barely warrants reportage. The only amazing thing is that, apparently, they can and do have it both ways.

I thought that was joke about the current split offs, its a real thing! ZOMG
It is rather farcical isn't it? It would be funny if it weren't so dangerous and destructive.

It's obviously some sort of distant strobe light (maybe from mcarran) reflecting on the mirored glass of mandalay bay.... plus you can't shoot through a glass panel without breaking it. SImple physics.
could be, the audio in the taxi video sounds a little off to me there is always a heaping pile of shit information around these incidents

hmmmmm
Could be misdirection, but videos are surfacing that look like there was an M249 operating from the 4th floor.

I really feel my bad english. I write it as I think in spanish, that's my problem. I have recently been trying to learn.
That is why I said sorry, I understand that a lot of people here have English as a second language and I was trying not to be dickish. Fwiw, I have been recently working with a crew of South Americans which has given me a welcome opportunity to work on my, very rudimentary, Espaņol.

That was way before my time, I think. I can't even picture what you are talking about. But I was born after color broadcast was mainstream.
The old tube sets would drift, primarily with temperature, you would select the channel, which would get you in the ballpark, but then fine tune for best picture. As the set warmed up you would have to readjust. Once the transistor sets came in this was much reduced, and the advent of the phase lock loop pretty much put an end to it, though many sets did not implement a PLL in the UHF receiver right to the end of the CRT era.
