wonder if someone could help me. I've compiled from github to enable bit fury devices. 3.9.0 on ubuntu against a bi*fury device. bfgminer will find it, cgminer won't. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ cgminer 3.9.0 ------------------------------------------------------------------------
Configuration Options Summary:
libcurl(GBT+getwork).: Enabled: -lcurl curses.TUI...........: FOUND: -lncurses
Avalon.ASICs.........: Disabled BlackArrow.ASICs.....: Disabled BFL.ASICs............: Disabled BitForce.FPGAs.......: Disabled BitFury.ASICs........: Enabled
which cgminer /usr/local/bin/cgminer
[2013-12-30 15:27:12] Started cgminer 3.9.0 [2013-12-30 15:27:12] No devices detected! [2013-12-30 15:27:12] Waiting for USB hotplug devices or press q to quit [2013-12-30 15:27:12] Need to specify at least one pool server.
where do i start troubleshooting this one? Make sure you don't have multiple cgminer binaries installed. Check what cgminer reports it has support built for when you do cgminer -h. Show us the output of lsusb and lsusb -t. Some USB3 ports are problematic. Make sure you are NOT building with system-libusb. Check what cgminer -n reports to see if it sees the device at all. If it does, get a debug output of it starting with -D -T added.

Great, I'll await the email before trying to include the code in master cgminer code. Still waiting for this...

Hi all I've posted the first firmware officially designed for avalon series 2 (55nm), but with compatibility for series 1 devices. http://ck.kolivas.org/apps/cgminer/avalon/20131229/This is based on an updated cgminer 3.9.0 and has been running flawlessly on the series 2 device I've received. This firmware should work fine on 110nm technology devices too, however the configuration syntax has changed so you may find that you'll need to do a reset configuration after flashing it. For older devices there may be slight improvements in stability and better support for mining to a stratum proxy. I just updated to to this firmware blowing away my batch 2 settings and once I go it up and running I noticed the applying changes just spins and spins it doesn't update like in the previous firmware. I have to close my browser and re-open it to see the changes have been made. The 2nd issue is, I accidently gave me Avy2 the same IP of my Avy1, so I unplugged the Avy from the LAN and connected to the Avy2, when I changed the IP (the updating settings kept spining) and closed my browser and reconnected to the Avy2 on the new IP the update settings process has wiped out all my previous settings including my pools, etc! SIGH I wonder did you even test your own firmware before releasing it? Thanks, Pretty clear in my post. Also clear that you may have to reset all your settings, no? Resetting ALL the settings means back to the original static IP needing an ethernet connection.

The antminers have to run on the tplink router that's included with them and the software is built in. There is no point trying to build the software yourself to run on anything else.
Cancel that. I didn't see it was the U1 as Nwoolls just pointed out.

Hi,
What is the command line to run the BLueFury with cgminer?
Thanks!
After you've set up your relevant driver for your operating system (see ASIC-README included with cgminer) then they should just run without any extra command line parameters with cgminer.

EDIT2: Resetting ALL the settings means you will need to reconfigure your network from scratch with a lan cable.

Bitcoin's growth is stunted without altcoins.
Please explain?

Why does your topic also say BTC ?

So what are we waiting for?

Yes it's normal. They clock according to how many engines it detects are working well. That's why if you're going to unplug it, it's always worth letting it cool down fully before plugging it back in. Others have reported good results from sticking it in the fridge before firing it up, but be careful for moisture may condense on them if you do that.

Make sure your powered hub is not a usb3 hub as most don't work with an RPi. Unplug the hub and the devices and start cgminer. Then plug in the hub and plug in one device at a time. The *fury usb sticks and the block erupters sometimes don't like starting together for reasons that aren't entirely clear.

At the very least the altcoins section needs it's own mining section.
At the very least the altcoins need to have their own subforum. ftfy

when or how can we have support for nanofury usb erupter with cgminer? Is the only programme that can work without problems under linux but it didnt support nanofury usb and i cant use it because i have some of them
When I get one and write a driver for it. you cant use a driver from bfgminer or to ask to sent you? See: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=28402.msg3804711#msg3804711However, they are sending me one, so a driver will be written for it eventually.

Nothing, all you could do is break Sha-256 encryption, of which mining is the only profitable thing.
Can't even do that for mining is a specific sized message that is doubly sha256 hashed and the asics only return a specific return value when changing part of the message and a return hash is below X. There are only 4 well recognised alternative uses for asics used for bitcoin mining: Doorstop, bookend, paperweight and boat anchor.

Latest version of cgminer also dynamically clocks the current bi*fury firmware to keep them below a certain temperature.

Useless and very expensive for mining bitcoin. Unless you mean mining an scrypt coin, in which case you're on the wrong forum.
|
|
|
I would say overclock them as much as you possibly can and mine their arses off as much as possible at lower diffs even if it means you burn them out earlier. They're still going to last months if not years if you overclock them provided you can keep them cool, whereas they'll be pointless to mine with in a year.

ckolivas...I'm just being curious/nosey here, but is there an amount of BTC you have in mind that would bring back GPU mining support in cgminer? heh..
I originally wrote the scrypt code for cgminer for 100BTC, which was my "I don't want to do it" price back then. I wish I had said 1000BTC instead. That should give you some idea. While I have your attention I also wanted to ask if there is a scrypt specific fork of cgminer that you might recommend to people that want continued GPU development. The GPU questions seem to be coming more and more often as of late. I've tried a couple of the forks, but I'd love to hear if there was a particular developer you worked with on the hand off that stuck out from the rest. I really expected someone to be leading the pack on scrypt mining by now, but nothing just jumps out at me. I was wondering if maybe I wasn't looking in the right places. I'm not really sure where I would direct people with GPU questions these days...or myself for that matter. heh..
I know you don't want to be bothered with GPU questions anymore. Putting a specific fork of the code in the limelight would probably steer a lot of the questions in that direction.
I pay no attention whatsoever to forks or gpu or scrypt code so I have no idea nor can recommend anything. I know you don't mean it, but this is unintentionally flamebait. All my responses about GPUs/scrypt/litecoin do is piss people off more since they can't accept I have no interest in them and then they resort to personal attacks.
