6661  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin trading increasing in Venezuela on: March 19, 2020, 08:19:51 PM
Bitcoin trading volumes in Venezuela were rising even before the pandemic happened. It is so because their currency is useless and people are accepting either USD or bitcoin in exchange for their goods. Currently everyone is on a selling spree on major markets, cryptocurrencies included, and the reason mainly is the virus spread. Anyway, back to Venezuela, since their money is so fucked up, they have no other choice but to hold and accept currencies with actual value, so it makes sense that their trading volumes rise amid the sells around the world. In a country where the economy is so fucked that it has been remade thrice yet nothing happened, you will expect its citizens to use anything--literally anything--except what their country issues.
6662  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Russian Central Bank Admits It Can’t Ban Bitcoin on: March 19, 2020, 07:22:05 PM
No plans to legalize yet also stated that they cannot prevent it fully? So basically we're looking at a stalemate in here wherein bitcoin can only be stored, but cannot be used anywhere apart from transferring it from one wallet to another. That sounds like wasted opportunity for me, and if anything, the underground economy of bitcoin in Russia will likely thrive with the government not getting any of it.

Russia is like the 2015 China in here it seems. Playing mind games on their own and can't decide whether to fully ban bitcoin, utilize it or jist leave it stagnating.
6664  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin during pandemics on: March 19, 2020, 02:49:39 PM
It is anic that mainly drove the prices of everything down. With the way the governments of the world are responding to this pandemic, it's not surprising that people would react frantically to everything as of this moment. Add to the fact that almost every essential supply is being hoarded, so it's possible that investors and traders sold their stocks/coins in the mean time for fast cash to utilize during the outbreak. No one expected such a full-blown pandemic in 2020 and here we are.
6665  Local / Pilipinas / Re: Gaano ba kahalaga? on: March 18, 2020, 06:27:45 PM
I just did without knowing na kakailanganin ko pala talaga ng cash within the next 4 weeks. I'm currently volunteering as a medical worker sa RITM, and even though wala naman kaming masyadong ginagastos dahil sa mga donation at pakain ng government, kailangan ko pa rin mag-stock ng supplies sa bahay dahil umuuwi rin ako after shifts. My business is currently halted dahil wala namang pasok ang mga students, and the lab that I'm working at decided to cease operations in the mean time, so walang wala talagang makukuhang pera kahit saan. Mapalad na nga lang at nakapag-cash out right before the whole thing crashed, at meron pang pangtustos for the next few months kung tumagal pa ang quarantine at hindi ako makalagtrabaho (na wag naman na sanang mangyari.)
6666  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Things you shouldn't do when gambling at casino this time... on: March 18, 2020, 05:55:18 PM
I'm surprised that gambling houses are still operational despite the dangers of the virus being everywhere. I'm kinda susprised that people will also risk going out just to gamble. I mean, there are other avenues to do your normal gambling habits, why not stick to that and take care of yourself without having to endanger everyone else as well?

Then again, I guess some countries are afraid to lose revenue and are ready to risk everyone's lives for the sake of profit.
6667  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Alvarez vs. Golovkin: The Trilogy we've all been waiting for! on: March 18, 2020, 05:18:11 PM
Golovkin would still be a decent opponent against Alvarez. Even at 38 yrs old, his punches still packs a lot of power plus his footwork isn't too shabby at all. As for stamina inside the ring, I don't think he'd outlast Canelo and that is where the points would come in handy for the younger warrior. Don't get me wrong, this is a good fight, but if it stretches into a full 12 rounds of boxing, then we already know who the winner is via UD.

And hopefully though the virus stops from spreading now. We've missed a lot of promising sporting events just on the first quarter of this year.
6668  Local / Pilipinas / Re: March 9 2020, ang Simula ng Bearish Season on: March 18, 2020, 04:48:19 PM
I don't know if clairvoyance or not ang pag-pull out ko ng assets ko sa bitcoin before March hits. The funds were needed for the expansion of my business, and to my surprise masyadong malaki ang naging hit nito come 2nd week of March. Marahil isa ako sa mga mapapalad na nakalabas bago gumuho nang tuluyan ang presyo from 10k, pero it was bound to happen na rin siguro dahil halos lahat ng merkado sa daigdig ay nakararanas ng negative movements. Isama niyo pa ang kahinahinalang ikinikilos ng BitMEX nitong mga nakaraang araw na sinisisi ng mga traders na responsable sa malalaking sell-off as of late.
6669  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Store your bitcoin on: March 18, 2020, 03:27:28 PM
Guesses backed by air and words are hard to believe, moreso hard to even prove since not a single evidence was presented on the table regarding the rise of bitcoin. Even though we're sure that bitcoin will recover into this bad beat, the greatest question remains to be "when" and "how" since every other market in the world bleeds as of this very moment.

Perhaps this is even a foreshadowing of a recession that was long predicted by experts and analysts alike. Idk, but right now, one can only hope.
6670  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: CS:GO and Betting on: March 17, 2020, 08:37:45 PM
If you feel that a team wouldn't perform better online, don't bet.

There is a term called 'onliner' for tier 2 teams who perform really well on online qualifiers but are shit on LAN. There are too many teams to mention that fits the category, though some of them are no longer together or just not joining competitions lately. Tier 1 teams generally are good on LAN and online tournaments. As for tier 2? Sketchy and inconsistent based on my observation for the past 4 years of betting into such matches.
6671  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Las Vegas closes casinos and hotels in lieu of coronavirus on: March 17, 2020, 08:14:40 PM
Well that is to really prevent the virus from spreading even further. Given that the virus stays active for 12 hours after being left outside, there is a possibility that one guy might catch it and pass it on while he/she is playing. Even Macau who is currently C19-free is still suspending its gambling operations to the public until further notice.

The boomer doomer virus is blown way out of proportion..

I think something else is going on behind the scenes and this virus is a distraction of some type.
Possibly yes, I read a conspiracy article about this outbreak is to create financial crisis on the stock market which was created by some private big hands. But I don't trust it too much still we are getting more attention about corona which is less harm compared to other deadly diseases we faced in the past two decades.

While C19 may not be as deadly as its predecessors SARS and MERS, the irrepairable lung damage to those patients who survived ARDS and developed fibrosis caused by the disease is still scary and lessens one's life expectancy. It may not be terminal in itself but still has grave long-term effects if you look at it thoroughly.
6672  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin is a 'two-phased' product, which makes it ponzi/pyramid-like on: March 17, 2020, 07:39:33 PM
Everything you see on every market, if going by your definition, is a ponzi scheme. Regardless of what kind of item, currency, whatever it is, it passes through this phases--and obviously passes through the highs and the lows. I wonder why you fail to categorize fiat currencies as a ponzi product and ignoring the fact that they are the large profiteers from the coffers of the public?

Perhaps come with a better counter-argument to those being thrown at you here in this post the next time. We've seen things like these come and go every time the market bleeds.
6673  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Tyler Winklevoss: BTC is not a hedge to pandemics on: March 17, 2020, 11:54:03 AM
With the way how every major market turns to south currently, yes, Tyler's views are actually of releveance. Everyone is panicking: supermarkets are being emptied of basic necessities and there are uncertaintiea everywhere. People are basically liquidating assets for fast cash to buy what they need, hence why most stocks and most cryptocurrencies are down. Hopefully this goes only short-term, and that vaccines would be out by the next 6 months. No one anticipated the outbreak anyways so panic really would be the initial response.
6674  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: US Woman Funding ISIS With Bitcoin on: March 16, 2020, 07:22:47 PM
This just goes to show how banks indirectly fund terrorism. With the amount of KYC details needed to be submitted before one can make transactions with the bank, it's alarming how many people still can get away with fraudulent activities and bask under the warmth of freedom. Cryptocurrency was only used as a vehicle to deliver the funds, but the main source of the funds are from loans on the banks. Without the latter, the former can't even be utilized, therefore no funds would have reached the terrorists. Anyway, good thing she was caught early in the game.

6676  Local / Pamilihan / Re: Patulong naman dito guys. on: March 14, 2020, 06:16:36 PM
I have a few friends who use XM but I couldn't vouch for the service itself. Further digging ng information led me to the discovery na talagang active sila at paying naman so far, although I can say na hindi nga talaga inviting yung landing page nila para sa ating mga potential investors. Sa riotrades, I'm not familiar with it nor heard it on my channels and friends. There isn't much discussion na involved ang nasabing site so in the mean time, stay clear muna tayo sa ganyan.

Also OP, advice your teacher and his/her friend na magsagawa ng thorough research bago maglabas ng pera. I'm pretty sure kaya nilang gawin yun at siyempre para na rin sa safety nila sa kanilang assets.
6677  Local / Pilipinas / Re: Bitcoin's price, at ang ating mental health. on: March 14, 2020, 11:03:11 AM
During these trying times, hindi naman masamang maghanap ng kausap panandalian at i-rethink ang mga desisyon bago gumawa ng mga aksyon. Salamat sa mga mumunting paalala sa ating mga kababayan na hindi pa ito ang katapusan ng lahat; we have had worse corrections in the past but here we are, still doing what we love and investing on bitcoin and cryptocurrencies.

On a side note, sa mga kababayan natin dito na kailangang gumamit ng ATM to withdraw cash, please use hand sanitizers before and after using the machines. Just to be safe na rin sa atin kahit healthy pa tayo. We can overcome these struggles like what we did in the past.
6678  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Bitcoin prices could have gone down to Zero - True or False? on: March 14, 2020, 07:01:11 AM
It can always come close to that, but with the amount of infrastructure and development bitcoin has seen over a decade, it is safe to say that it being priced to 0 is somewhat impossible.

We have had deep crashes like these in the past years, and we have successfully recovered from all of them and bounce back higher. What we are experiencing is just part of the market movement--with or without manipulation, this is bound to happen. BitMEX alone cannot bring the price down to zero no matter how heavy the selling pressure is. It's only a single exchange, and each exchange in the market has its own ecosystem, but still roughly follows the same pattern across the board. If anything, arbitrage traders would see this as an opportunity rather than to go with the fud.
6679  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: DOTA2 The International 2020 on: March 14, 2020, 05:47:57 AM
This year's the International will never be the same with the departure of Ceb from the active roster to Ana and JerAx's as well.  Perhaps Sumail and the gang could do something about OG's reign, and there doesn't seem to be any solid-stack team as of late since the conclusion of the recent Majors. With the threat of the COVID-19 still out and about, a few filler tournaments for DPC points might be cancelled, so there's a chance Valve might move the date, too.
6680  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Do you think Bitcoin has an identity crisis now? on: March 13, 2020, 08:25:08 PM
Bitcoin's identity as a crytpocurrency is already sealed. A safe haven perhaps wouldn't be too fitting as its title due to its susceptibility to rapid changes in prices but at the least, it can still retain value no matter what.

We have had similar bad beats in the past but bitcoin recovered as if nothing happened. It will still continue being a currency that transcends borders and can be used by people regardless of their country of origin. While there might be added hindrances and processes such as KYC before getting some coins, P2P still exists, and always has for bitcoin. Forget about bitcoin being the digital gold in its time; as long as it works as intended, everything shuld be fine.
