6681  Bitcoin / Legal / Re: Ex-Husband- Dicorce-Bitcoin on: July 20, 2017, 01:04:43 AM
I am not so sure of this but if your country is already recognizing Bitcoin as a form of an asset then maybe he can use the Bitcoin. Now, if Bitcoin is not yet that recognized by the government, in my opinion, Bitcoin just means nothing as far as the law is concerned. Please check with people who know more about the divorce law.
6682  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Will the death of block reward kill BTC? on: July 20, 2017, 12:58:51 AM
It will take around 100 more years for that problem to be faced since by that time only,21 million coins would have been completely mined.By that time, more bitcoin users would be found all over the world and there would be huge number of bitcoin transactions at that time so that miners would enough income to continue their mining.

Yes, this is something we should not be worrying for now. Let's leave that problem to the next generations lol. Anyway, am sure that the Bitcoin community can always find the way though it might take long for the solutions to come just like what is happening right now on the scaling debate.
6683  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Why use Bitcoins ? on: July 20, 2017, 12:54:00 AM
One, it is because we all need an online payment gateway akin to PayPal. Right now, Bitcoin is better than PayPal in so many ways though there is no way to complain if someone is scamming you.

Two, we are all involved in the speculative nature of Bitcoin and that has become the nice hobby of everyone. To us, Bitcoin has become like an investment that we know ill grow by leaps and bounds.

Three, Bitcoin is the future and there is always excitement here. Who would not want to be part of an exciting and energizing party?

Four, Bitcoin is representing the blockchain technology whose applications will later on encompass many facets of our everyday lives.

Now, there are so many other reasons why. We have to remember that Bitcoin is still young and evolving. Time will come when we will all love to use Bitcoin for everyday needs when the value will eventually plateau. For now, let's just enjoy the ride.
6684  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin in College??? on: July 20, 2017, 12:48:12 AM
I am sure that in the coming months, Bitcoin can be a part of the discussions in many classrooms. Now, instead of focusing more on Bitcoin, what should be discussed is the technology behind Bitcoin which we all know is Blockchain Technology. I think that is the game changer of this whole thing and it can be applied in so many industries and can even be applied in schools.
6685  Bitcoin / Legal / Re: ICO ban for the US citizens on: July 16, 2017, 03:18:43 PM
US regulators act from an excess of caution, primarily as a result of the anti-money laundering regime that was instituted after 9/11. Of course, there are some legitimate concerns that anonymous money can be used for destructive purposes -- there is no debate about that. However, blockchain and programmable money are a fundamentally new technology, in which the states may fall behind. During the internet bubble, USA was quick to embrace the change. For blockchain, it seems that the American adoption of this new technology is somewhat impeded by a legal system that is designed for security above all else, which is regrettable, but also an opportunity for non-US startups to assume leadership.

It is not just the regulators who are extra cautious. It is the fund raisers who don't want to get entangled with the US regulators and incur high compliance costs. I don't blame them - there are enough people in other countries who are ready to subscribe to ICOs.

You are right. Rather than face legal challenge later on, why not just concentrate on markets aside from USA. There are indeed enough investors outside of USA, who can launch and fund a project. Unless of course, SEC would soon issue a legal framework to work with, then it is not worth including USA in any ICO issuance. The government of USA is very much protective of its own citizens and that is something we all understand, anyway.

6687  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2017-07-15] Venezuelan Candidate is for Bitcoin Legalization on: July 16, 2017, 08:44:20 AM
Well, he is a politician so maybe he is really connected with the people and what is happening on the ground or he is just trying to look good in the eyes of the voters. Nevertheless, I am hoping that he won and he would fulfill his promise to make Bitcoin a recognized currency in Venezuela. I understand that Bitcoin is of big help to many families in the country as it is suffering from hyperinflation.
6688  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Journey to Hell, With Bitcoins on: July 16, 2017, 08:41:00 AM
You should have converted your Bitcoin when it was at least in the $2500 level so that loss was just minimal. Right now, it is getting to be lower than $2,000 and I am sure the rate can be dropping more. Now, if you are a risk taker, there is a big possibility that after August 1, the value would get back to surge. Maybe you just have to wait.
6689  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Can Bitcoin's problems be fixed? on: July 16, 2017, 08:37:54 AM
Of course, Bitcoin and the underlying technology behind which is the blockchain technology is not meant to be expensive and not slow...that is we have to upgrade Bitcoin as it is not already conducive for great growth ahead. Unfortunately, there are many suggestions on how to solve the problem and these choices are dividing the community. We are hoping that in August 1, there would be a clear consensus that can be adopted by all.
6690  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: HELP: Banksters are conquering Uruguay. This could be the beginning of the End. on: July 16, 2017, 08:33:15 AM
Honestly, Bitcoin is not really that powerful as a tool to go head-to-head with any government. Any government can easily declare Bitcoin to be illegal and then generally that can be the end of its possible massive and mainstream adoption. We have to understand that the power really belong to the government though it might be stealing it from the people.

This scenario can be bad for the people of Uruguay but am sure that people will go along with the government, of course. Going against can be a very expensive thing to do. Maybe in the coming months, situation may not really that bad after all and who knows Bitcoin can still be existing alongside this program of the government.
6691  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: LUNATICS ABOUT TO HIJACK BITCOIN on: July 16, 2017, 08:25:10 AM
The Segwit vs Segwit 2X has definately revealed the politics behind the scenes. I'm afraid to say that greed is the main motivator of some of these "leading" organizations.

I agree with your strong statement on greed. Greed has been derailing Bitcoin ever since Nakamoto left the cryptocurrency scene. People from all sides of the debate have been promoting their own self-vested interest to the detriment of the whole Bitcoin community especially the small holders like you and me. This has to be stopped otherwise they can be killing the very goose that is laying the golden eggs.
6692  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Do Banks fear cryptocurrency on: July 16, 2017, 08:21:09 AM
In the future maybe banks should be afraid of cryptocurrencies but right now banks have nothing to be afraid of. Cryptocurrencies is still relatively new and quite evolving and in fact not yet that powerful...enough to topple the traditional banking system. We are even in quandary right now and we are panicking...something that is telling us that there are weaknesses that need to plugged first before we have an ambition of replacing banks. Again, cryptos can be threat to banks in the future but not yet now.
6693  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Another opportunity to buy Bitcoin at Cheap price on: July 16, 2017, 08:11:10 AM
Today can be the best time to buy Bitcoin but if after buying the value will further go down then it can be leaving a bitter taste in your tongue. Since we can not influence the whole market to stop panicking and stop unloading their Bitcoin to the market, the best thing to do is to wait for some days especially towards August 1.

Come August 1 and nothing serious has occurred, everybody can be on a great buying mode. Maybe two days before August 1 is the best time to buy, that is my opinion only, anyway as I am not an expert on anything.

The cryptocurrency market is one of the most unpredictable beasts there can be most especially at this stage where there is a great apprehension and fear walking on the market.
6694  Economy / Speculation / Re: Will bitcoin go under 2000 dollars until august 1? on: July 16, 2017, 07:59:38 AM
I think that only hours ago the 2K has already been breached...so in the next few days leading to the end of the month and August 1, many are expecting the value to go down as low as $1500. Hope it would not go further down than that as it would be already hard to see.

Everywhere in the cryptocurrency traders and holders of coins are doing sell, sell and sell. Everybody is having a panic button and this is greatly affecting all exchanges. After August 1, hopefully things can start to get better.
6695  Economy / Speculation / Re: 2k Wall Crumble on: July 16, 2017, 07:55:04 AM
It's already crumble, because of the incoming august 1 there will be panic selling by the weak hands
But this is temporary, after segwit done, the price will rise again even though it will be a long way to reach 3k wall again

Sadly, that is true. Had it been a normal day, I am sure that Bitcoin will resist that 2k level. Because of the coming August 1, no big volume of buyers are snapping a weakening Bitcoin making the slide to continue. The revenge will come after August 1, that is something am sure of. We just have to weather the storm and take some covers not to get wet from the rain.
6696  Economy / Speculation / Re: WHEN will BTC rise again and WHY? on: July 15, 2017, 04:57:12 PM
We are expecting the value of Bitcoin to get into the upswing once there would already be results on the scaling solution that can be implemented come August 1. When it will not be a mess and there will be no confusion then it can be an uptick immediately after. As of now, the market is more on selling that is why Bitcoin's value is going down.
6697  Bitcoin / Press / [2017-07-15] Venezuelan Candidate is for Bitcoin Legalization on: July 15, 2017, 04:47:48 PM
Quote

Jorge Dommar, a candidate to the Constitutional General Assembly in Venezuela, recently published a video in which he calls for cryptocurrency adoption, and claims that it will help the country, by facilitating access to global markets, and putting Venezuela in the forefront of a new global financial system.

The candidate, who clearly stands for widespread cryptocurrency adoption in the country, has also campaigned for a system in which the people depend less on the government, and use cryptocurrencies for international trade.

Jorge Dommar is the first politician to propose the use of this type of technology to cope with the restrictions the government has imposed. Constitutional Assembly elections are scheduled for July 30.

Read more here.

Venezuela is always on the news because despite the government not recognizing Bitcoin it is actually condoned by the authorities and I am hoping that Venezuela can be the first troubled country to accept Bitcoin. Expect more and more news to carry Bitcoin especially after the August 1 deadline.
6698  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2017-07-14] Swissquote Joins Bitcoin Club on: July 15, 2017, 04:07:51 PM
And I think we should see some more other Swiss-based banks to be finally including Bitcoin in their investment portfolio offering. I am sure these banks already know that there is really money to be made in here and so they want to be the pioneers and be leaders in the Bitcoin expansion in this country.

Switzerland is considered to be a safe haven for many wealthy people because of its secretive banking laws. I am definite that under this environment Bitcoin can well be received and flourish at the same time.
6699  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2017-07-14] Dispute could mean financial panic in bitcoin on: July 15, 2017, 03:47:15 PM
The panic definitely seems to be reflected in the price. We are already below $2000 and seem to be in bear market territory.
A fork might not be bad for the community after all. It is time everybody realized that.

The fork is meant to solve the big problem within Bitcoin that needs to be addressed head-on. The problem really here is that there are more speculations than facts. As Bitcoin is decentralized so does its release of information regarding the scenario that can play on and after August 1.

I am looking for an authoritative figure in the Bitcoin community whom we can look up to for correct information and get away from so many garbage and self-serving sharing of ideas and speculative scenarios.
6700  Bitcoin / Press / [2017-07-15] Bitcoin Millionaire Teen Not Convinced About Ethereum on: July 15, 2017, 03:41:13 PM
Quote

Erik Finman, a millionaire teenager who initially invested in bitcoin in May 2011 at the age of 12, recently explained in an interview with Mic that he is not convinced about Ethereum.

Six years ago, Finman’s parents, Stanford PhDs, agreed to allow Finman to skip college and pursue his education elsewhere, outside the traditional realm of college and university ecosystem, if he could turn $1,000 in cash granted by his grandmother into $1 million.

Within a six-year period, Finman acquired $1,000 worth of bitcoin at around $12 per bitcoin and also obtained other cryptocurrencies such as Ethereum’s native token Ether. Finman revealed during his interview with Mic that he currently holds more than 600 bitcoin, which is worth just about $1 million.

Although Finman does maintain a portfolio of cryptocurrencies including Ethereum, he explained that he’d encourage other traders to go short on Ethereum. There is a lot of money to be made in the short-term but at the moment, the market cap of Ethereum is difficult to justify, considering the lack of viable products that emerged within the ICO market.

In regard to ICOs, Finman also stated that newer cryptocurrencies are susceptible to pump and dump schemes.

Read more here.

I was made to believe that Ethereum can be the next in line for Bitcoin and even if it will not really replace Bitcoin then playing a second placer can be good enough. However, lately there are those who are expressing some dismay and disappointment with Ethereum, and this is now also reflected in its value. I lost almost 50% of the money I invested with Ethereum because I bought some when it peaked at $340...that was a very bad decision on my part.

Is there really a bright future ahead for Ethereum?
