I am trading alts, where news still matters much, I see posted in the wrong thread, sorry.
However, I am getting good results, so I know what I do works.
I don't like indicators(moving average for example), when you see a certain trend there is no guarantee that that line is going to continue.
You need figure out what drives this trend, will this drive continue or cease to exist?*
If it is the latter or if you don't know sell and pick a new altcoin.
(Also do your reading before investing)
I am holding for months, basically because I don't like the daily variance, it are mostly just unpredictable movements or noise.

*A positive signal could be the release of a new/unique feature for example.

Everyone seems to have their own take on trading, no means to bash your opinion or anything, just stating my own. Smiley

I dont know that you are implying on altcoin trading strategy because this thread is about BTC trading stategy . Altcoin trading strategy is mostly about hype so that is correct from your end that news will be the indicator for the price. In altcoin, mostly you need to do is to pick newly created altcoin and wait for the hype, rinse and repeat the pattern.

P.S : lets not derail this discussion further and stick with BTC trading strategy instead  Wink

Everyone seems to have their own take on trading, no means to bash your opinion or anything, just stating my own. Smiley

No problem, I do apppreciate your thoughts as I am sharing my own as well

It doesn't matter, Japan is still a good example how land can become worthless in less than a jiffy, and which actually happens throughout the world now and then (even for less dramatic reasons). Still insist that land investments are less risky than gold?

Im not farmiliar with the other fukushima incident apart from the nuclear incident but if you are pointing it to that than of course it is a risk that you have to endure for putting in investment. Where you resident at is indeed matter, I stated my point on why do I think that land could be a better option than gold

P.S : I dont insist that land is less risky than gold, Im insisting that land could be a better option. That has different meaning

I guess when you were talking about investment risks you actually meant profitability, since by no means investments in land can be less risky than investments in gold. If so, you still need a lot of expertise and experience in the field which is incomparable with buying some gold from a reliable source and forgetting about it...

As I said before, investments in land and real estate are a hell

I dont, Im stating the risk as well (I think). I honestly have told you that I based this on my experience though  Wink. Nevertheless anyone can have their own opinion on this thing. It is nice to have this kind of debate, basically it helps to understand more . Do pardon me if I am wrong on this, but I do based this on my experience that I think it is less risky to put in land than gold  Cheesy

P.S : safe deposits could be a better options as well although I know you are sticking with your goverment's debt  Cheesy
6704  Economy / Economics / Re: Is it better to save money or invest it? on: May 31, 2015, 03:46:58 PM
You don't need place to keep land. Though land is a by far more risky asset than gold. Internet and Hollywood are full of harrowing stories and movies about people investing in land and then going bust when their expectations didn't come true...

Not quite risky IMO. Actually any type of "investment" is risky. Best thing to do would be to choose one that has less risk than the other. Basically land will preserve less risk than gold though

I've never heard of anyone going bust with gold. Primarily because you can always sell it quickly, even with a discount or at a loss (and since gold is a money in itself). The same is not true with land, you may not be able to sell it at all. Don't take it too personal, but from what I've read in your posts, I can only conclude that in most cases your knowledge about the matter is superficial at best, that of a layman. I, for one, am neither engaged in such investments (I mean land), nor have deep understanding of it, but I do know that land (or real estate, for that matter) is a hell as an investment option...

Indeed you can sell your gold almost instantly but do note that I based this on my experience. I lived in one of the highest population country in the world, where "land" is a better asset than gold. You may live in a country where it is hard to sell a "land" but in my country, if you put up your land for sale, you can expect a phonecall less than 24 hours, much quicker if it is located in an urban area though. That is why I go bust with gold  Wink

As per I stated, Gold is not always a good option. That doesnt mean that real estate/land is the better option than gold though

I thought we were talking about the riskiness of an investment option. If you happen to live in Japan, should I remind you about Fukushima? In fact, I can only recall two events in the history of mankind that made gold significantly lose in value. The first was the Black Death pandemics that devastated Europe in the 14th century, while the second was the inflow of Inca gold in the 16th...

And yes, the recent decline in the price of gold from about 1,900$ an ounce to 1,200$ is actually a minor correction, given its previous rise from around 200$ per ounce

Guess again, Japan is not one of the country with the highest population in the world. Indeed we are talking about riskiness here, I just happen to counter your argument (bolded part) and I do based it from my own experience that real estate could be a better investment than gold in some part.

It doesn't matter, Japan is still a good example how land can become worthless in less than a jiffy, and which actually happens throughout the world now and then (even for less dramatic reasons). Still insist that land investments are less risky than gold?

Honestly you left out this, if you ask me to choose wether gold or land , my answer is here

Either way investing in gold or real estate will be up to one's choice, every investment got its own risk. Im basically still on my first choice that safe deposits could be the safest as it is part of either both saving and investing

Investment is not everything about gaining "more" I suspect , there are of course several things to consider as well, basically my consideration will be based on it is easier to keep land/real estate than keeping your gold safe (My country is one of the country with a high criminal records as well)

Either way investing in gold or real estate will be up to one's choice, every investment got its own risk. Im basically still on my first choice that safe deposits could be the safest as it is part of either both saving and investing

6706  Economy / Gambling / Re: Join Manny Pacquiao's eSports Betting site! 100mBTC Deposit bonus! on: May 31, 2015, 03:21:28 PM
IT seems like this site is affiliated with Manny Pacquiao indeed . If you check on google then you can see alot of news and article regarding it affiliating with Manny Pacquiao.

WTF? those are not reliable sources because those can be published by shillls or paid article writers. It is better to wait for any anouncement coming from Manny but IMO Manny should've officially announced this info before the launch because his name is at stake here.

Indeed no, try google instead. You can see alot of article regarding it even some articiles from philippines as well (could be a paid shills, yes ) basically If the site is not affiliated with Manny they will probably be sue soon, so no harm done. If you try to read what I had posted instead of just this one, you can see that I've been trying to get them to confirm it through Manny's official twitter

Here it is, you can as well read their reply and Im sure it triggers your red flag alarm just reading from the bolded part

To address your doubts, Yes, we do have Manny Pacquiao on our side. We've already proven it to our bank, our payment processor, our licensing authority, etc. with all the required paperwork (when running a real money gambling site, you need to prove a lot of things to many different people).

Unless you could ask Manny to confirm about this then I think most people will not believe that this is backed by Manny. I've seen alot of article mentioning your site is backed by Manny but I do still have a doubt about it .

Simplest thing you could do is to ask Manny to confirm this via his official twitter account https://twitter.com/mannypacquiao . I havent seen any confirmation from Manny's side regarding this casino

When the right moment comes, you will see such confirmation.

To submit our tickets for today's raffle we just move the slider to whatever percentage then hit save right?

Yes, you will only need to slide the percentage bar as you wish and click on the save button but Im curious on how they will be dealing with the rounding number due to the raffle ticket percentage
i.e someone who has 111 tickets and submit 15 % for the monthy raffle will have 16.65 tickets submitted , not sure will this be counted as 16 or 17 tickets instead

P.S : congratulations on hitting 9900x dankbud !  Smiley
6709  Economy / Economics / Re: Bitcoin trading strategy on: May 31, 2015, 02:07:29 PM
Don't trust indicators or any technical guru shit.

Indicators is basically to help you in executing your trades, so actually it is best to have some knowledge about it

Follow the news.

This isnt like 2012-2013 anymore where news will have a significant effect to the price. Basically good news only bring in the hype, which means that you will need to execute a buy as fast as possible because after the hype, price usually goes back to where it was before

It is a game of patience, expect to wait for months, maybe years.

As per I have stated, the long term strategy which involve waiting for X period of time is not a good strategy for trading. Logically, holding things for X period of time is not considered as trading though, it is more like investment

P.S : just my personal thoughts on this

And remember, signals are not clearcut, it is kind of subjective.

It is not indeed but atleast it helps you in executing your trade. Knowing when will the lowest and highest point throughout the day is actually a good thing since it basically helps you where to start buying and to sell it for X percentage of profit
6710  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Does martingale really works? on: May 31, 2015, 01:48:41 PM
There will be no pure luck and no pure strategy

Indeed there is no. that is a why a "strategy" exist. Basically it will help you in reducing the chance for the you to lose which martingale is one of it but do note that there is no "winning strategy".
The bolded part is for clarification , most people do think that martingale is a winning strategy and complain later on if they are busted. The same thing for any other strategy known there. For more logic reason, casino is created with edge which means that player will mostly lose

6712  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Does martingale really works? on: May 31, 2015, 07:04:51 AM
This is a bogus mindset. Having an "infinite" BTC (which is likely not possible) will not improve your "luck". Luck has nothing to do with balance, you could even turn a few hundreds satoshi by doing 9900x multiplier .
If you are thinking that having "infinite" balance and martingale-ing 1 satoshi bet might not bust you out then you are wrong on this, there is a chance that you will bust and ofcourse risking alot just to gain 1 satoshi is stupid enough

This is going to be interesting, you are partially right and wrong.

First off, yes infinite Bitcoin is impossible to have (technically infinite of anything is kind of impossible to have except in theory). So you are right there.

Now assuming in our hypothetical land. For you to fail enough times for you to go broke you'd have to lose infinite money right? To lose infinite money you'd have to lose an infinite number of times. Now if the probability of losing is 1/n for any single bet then you could simplify that for the infinity case from (1/n)^infinity to 1/infinity which is of course considered to be 0. Hence a 0 probability of going bust.

Basically, you'd have to lose for an infinite time period to actually lose - which is impossible.

Right, Im making mistake by stating too mAny of the "infinity" words there, according to math yes it is not possible to lose if you got "infinity" however what Im trying to imply is that even with infinite amount of BTC there will be maximum win in each site which will prevent you for your next martingale (considering you reach the highest possible amount and lose )

In real terms, it simply means have a larger bankroll and smaller bet size makes it harder to go completely broke - which common sense tells you is true.

Harder yes but even with more common sense it would be very insane to bet 1 satoshi risking quite alot of BTC ( I think it will reach 31 losing streak before hitting maximum win , considering it is 20 BTC )
6713  Economy / Gambling / Re: Overview of Popular Bitcoin Gambling Websites [Up-to-date as of 29th May] on: May 31, 2015, 06:51:00 AM
Forgot to update it on Saturday, sorry lads. Currently working on adding the following sites:

- dadice
- SafeDice
- SatoshiBet

I may add one, two or all of those today. Next week I'll be busy so anything left over to then I won't be able to deal with most likely.

Quote
Note: I define a "popular" Bitcoin Gambling Website as one with a Bitcointalk thread with a size of over 25 pages

While you are at it. Please consider to add rollin.io as well . Here is the thread https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=687571.0, it has over 25 pages and it is one of the most popular dice sites around here and it seems to be one of the highest wagered site apart from PrimeDice although that the site wagered data is not released though
6714  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: ndnhc is an extortionist on: May 31, 2015, 06:06:42 AM
When his account was created here he used to post on the games and rounds section all kind of stupid games to earn a little bit of money

I found it funny, this coming from someone whose account also posted in games and round section when it was created also

later he took and gave loans to increase his rep

It is not a "must" to leave feedback for lending something though, that would be his lender choice to leave him feedback. By this logic, then anyone willing to loan is also trying to increase reputation? this is a bogus logic though

since he is never in possesion of the money so there is no risk.

Even if someone fail to extort, a negative feedback is still a must. If ndnhc is guilty, negative feedback is appropriate. One single mistake will lead a destruction to your reputation here. However, he has been providing some fact and also explanation that he is not "question2" (though I personally dont believe he is  Wink )

On my Account all Balances are pending. Nothing has changed. I`m verry disapointed Sad Chris is fucking us again and again and again. Whats the next?

People have already told you what is next... Chris is trying to get people to PAY BEFORE he pays them. Anyone that actually does this is fucking idiotic, and I can't even believe Chris has the fucking BALLS to do something like this...

If we are not able to pay it from what we are being owed then this actually a red flag for us. Basically this is another proof that he doesnt have a reserve fund or actually mining anything while we are not being paid. Another reason for him to ask an upfront payment of the fee would be that it would serve as a withdrawal for some people ( ponzi style ) . Guess he lost most faith that people put on him though.

P.S : I do hope people dont actually try to send anything to him though

there will be people who will send money to him. I would not be surprised if few even get paid. but its a clear ponzi scam!
What kind of fee for 2nd gen shares? Those were never even paid Cheesy
This is ridiculous! Smiley

I dont see any reason for anyone to send him something to get what he owed us. Not to mention the patience for allowing him to stall since the end of December 2014 until now which is almost June 2015 (more or less 5 months or so).
It seems like the fee is more than what I should be receiving for my payout, this is another red flag. It seems like the excess funds will be used to continue his ponzi operation

Nobody with Gen 2 on their account has had any balance or so-called maintenance fee due.

Makes me wonder what is he doing for the past 5 months or so. From the look of it, it seems like he is not mining anything, because if he is, he could just deduct the fee from our owed payout. Several error with the website from the previous month, a simple coding will actually fix the problem though
6717  Economy / Economics / Re: Why do people keep saying BTC is dead?! on: May 29, 2015, 08:09:50 PM
But as a user of it we can complain our suggestion and our rights. We have a rights to know what happened to the taxes that we pay. Yes we can't stop the government control the bitcoin but we can do what is right.

I will state this once more again. Government cant control BTC. In short words, because each transaction of BTC cant be control by anyone else, this will make the goverment has less interest in it.

i.e Government could block your bank account, void your money transaction if they deem that you have committed a crime but with BTC the goverment could not block anything, including your wallet or void your transaction. That is what decentralized means, the most they can do is regulate BTC transaction to FIAT to get a portion of it (tax)

The government can't control anything 100% but what they can do is put heavy restrictions on something and punish its use. Drugs are illegal but people still buy or use them but they can be punished for doing so and they could do the same thing with bitcoin. They could make it illegal which would threaten its use as a legit currency but people would still use it.

Thing is, people tend to stay with a illegal things . Best thing government could do about this would be issuing heavy tax for BTC/FIAT transaction, thus this will encourage the use of BTC also that AFAIK in China, BTC is illegal if you use it as a transaction /payment options , this would be another way for govertment to put on some restriction to it.

because pc are the instruments to use bitcoin and to setup a node, thus helping bitcoin, with the drug, you just confiscated the drug and arrest thos who used it, with bitcoin everyone can have access to it so easily it's not comparable with drug, you can't shut down every internet devices, so you can't deal with bitcoin, the Gov cannot stop it

If you read or process what I'm saying you will see that I'm not saying they can stop it, but they can prohibit it in other ways and that's why my comparison with drugs is apt. They might not be able to stop you using bitcoin (or drugs) but they can put laws and regulations in place to make it illegal and punish you if you choose to ignore them. The gov can still steal or confiscate your bitcoins as well so it's yet again exactly comparable to drugs.

Goverment could not stop it, true but they could make some restrictions on it (basically some laws ) that will hinder the growth of BTC . Things that are illegal tend to move underground, which means that even if government will to put in some restrictions to it, basically it will not stop anything at all but rather pushing it underground and make things harder for government to track on it.

P.S : by tracking , I meant that to know/regulate the BTC/FIAT exchanger

When i open dadice and start with full mode, my browser (firefox) is very slow , why you don't start a game in lite mode and later user can change to full ?

at the login screen when you are inputing your username and password, there is an dropdown option for you to directly use lite version instead of full version.
If your account has been logged on the full version instead, then I will suggest you to erase your cookies (ccleaner works best) and then head up to the site again, therefore your account will be logged out from the full version and you can login back by using the lite version
6719  Economy / Economics / Re: Is bitcoin dead? on: May 29, 2015, 07:31:14 PM

Most companies do aware of it but the fact is that BTC is not actually usefull in most of the companies sale as most people still dont have any knowledge yet of BTC . This will hinder their sale if they were to only accept BTC, that is why most companies that accept BTC accept FIAT as well, this makes BTC not usefull as things could be purchase with FIAT rather than BTC.

Also that Microsoft do accept BTC for some sale but it has yet make any significant effect so it is not a guarantee that if a big company was to accept BTC then it will make a significant effect

But with the acceptance from them bitcoin price will be sure going higher than usual and about bitcoin knowledge they can get it with the time goes by. That means their company can either choose to pay them with fiat or bitcoin. That should be work by then

I think it will be easy to make Microsoft to take that thing, but there are some people that wont believe it because of lacking information about bitcoin, thats why they need to accept it and learn with the time goes by

Not really, Microsoft and some other companies do accept BTC and all effect that it did was a short hype that did increase the price for approximately 24 hours, later the price went down to where it was before. Actually good thing about famous companies accepting BTC is that it serve as a proof that BTC is not dead yet ( which is a common thought to most people )

People tend to avoid things that are not real , in this case it will be "virtual" . Most people actually aware of BTC but they lost interest of it because they tend to think that this is not real and perhaps something like "poker chip/play money"
6720  Economy / Economics / Re: Is it better to save money or invest it? on: May 29, 2015, 07:21:59 PM
Gold is not always a good option though. Basically if you are looking to invest your money into a form of "goods" than real estate is a better option than gold. Obviously it is because real estate business have always been increasing since the past time and had neber shown a sign of decreasing ( more human , lower hectar of land, higher real estate prices ). Plus that "land" is much more easier to keep than gold though

Not all of that is true, real estate for some time it will loss the interest in people because of the taxes, and it will increase when the tax officer wont come into their place to ask for their taxes but the price of gold is always stable and it is really worth to keep it and invest in it and we never pay tax for it so we can keep on investing in it without any worry about gold price. If you ask people about keeping land or gold, I think more people will choose gold because place to keep gold is easier to find than keep a land

Indeed it is much simpler to keep a gold than to keep a land and also gold is not tax-able . Gold price is actually not stable, if you look at the chart you could see that the price has fluctated for some period of time. My logic on this woud be because gold is consider to be a commodity, which means that in 100 years there will be something to replace gold "perhaps" . BTC could be the next "commodity" to replace gold but with land , in 100 more years there will be huge population boost (considering the population growth) and there might be a shortage of land, thus this will increase the value of it though
