Still fishy, wait to see what Bittrex has to say. Reading Be A Crypto Whales post, looks like they handed over the funds to @BitcoinPhilip & don't see how that's a hack. Very fishy, hard to believe anything revolving around crypto anymore without some kind of proof. People can say this & that, but it all comes down to hard evidence on what really happen. Now trading @ Bittrex when it clearly shows it's not active anymore, that is the real question I would like to know.[/center]

Agree, that's not a hack, they put some anonymous guy in control of their funds. No comment needed. Anyway it's their problem.
What I don't get is why SPC market is disabled on Bittrex:

Is it just because of unusual activity? Wasn't SPC meant to be delisted on 1 Aug?

OK, for those who don't know, the pictured gentleman is Chancellor George Osbourne (took me a while to figure it out).

It's got nice media coverage:

http://www.telegraph.co.uk/finance/currency/11014508/George-Osborne-embraces-Bitcoin-as-London-aims-to-be-centre-of-global-financial-technology-revolution.html

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-28670414

That looks like a great news at first. But don't think it's very likely that UK will create a friendly BTC environment if US is gonna go the other way (of over-regulating, see Lawsky's proposal).
6723  Economy / Services / Re: Pocket Rockets Casino | Signature Advertising Campaign |Featuring Weekly Payouts on: August 06, 2014, 09:23:30 AM
on the date of payment will begin the second week?

Not necessarily:

Quote
-payouts weekly on Sunday from now on (allow up to 48h if I'm busy)

Since the payment date is set to Sun, that means week ends on Sat, so the next week will start on Sun. And since it may be 48 hours to process payments, you may get paid on Mon.

My understanding is that it could have been changed but would have left the coin insecure, with AuxPow that has changed, or?
On the surface it does not seem be extraordinary difficult to change the final 10k block reward to 5k, 1k or whatever number.

This would be a perfect time. Since  AuxPow and block reward reduction require hard fork, both could be done in one go.
1k reward for the final block reward would be best (+ reduction of current reward).
6725  Economy / Gambling / Re: DICE, Poker, Blackjack - INSTANT WITHDRAWALS - INVEST - PocketRocketsCasino.eu on: August 04, 2014, 07:52:46 PM

Is the limit per bet, per user, per event?

I hope it's all of them. ie everyone can bet max 0.2 on Liverpool, but if total bets for Liverpool reach say 2 BTC then event gets locked. And user cannot bet twice on the same event.

Purpose of both user and bet limits would be just to give more people a chance to bet on the said event, but limit per event would have the key importance to prevent/neutralise divesting right before end.

Hope to get this answered tho.
6726  Economy / Gambling / Re: DICE, Poker, Blackjack - INSTANT WITHDRAWALS - INVEST - PocketRocketsCasino.eu on: August 04, 2014, 07:29:25 PM
How do you deal with sports bets in general? At which point are site losses distributed to investor balances? If I know uv has a big bet on Liverpool winning, and I see at half-time they're 5-0 up, can I divest and leave the other investors to pay him out?

At the time each market is graded. Usually right after a match.
You could divest like that if you wanted, people done it during the world cup but ended up losing out as there was money on the other markets in the game like hadicap, over / under etc.

Good point. That's not an issue as long as bet limits remain reasonably small.

Any chance for a combination bets?

Also, would be a good idea to clarify what happens when the game is postponed (by an hour, or day, or week?) or interrupted. Would the bet be canceled?
6727  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][DOGE] Dogecoin - very currency many coin - v1.7 Available on: August 04, 2014, 03:09:25 PM

It's not the devs job to create interest for speculators through shiny new technology, their job is to secure the coin and this is a very good solution towards that goal.

100% agree, no one said the whole AuxPow transition is to increase the price, it's all about adding security and stability.

Dogecoin is already mined mostly by multipools anyway, so there won't be much more dumping. Plus, this will be balanced by the dogecoin miners who will sell their LTC for doges.

... and counter-balanced by LTC miners who will sell their DOGE for LTC (?)
6728  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [SPC][PoF] SaveCoin | Proof of Fund Coin | 64% Interest Annually / 0.137% Daily on: August 03, 2014, 08:31:56 PM
WTF is wrong with Bittrex, they still have this info:

"This market is in danger of de-listing due to low trade volume and lack of user interest. It may be removed on Aug 1st unless the average trade volume for the last 7 days exceeds 0.1 BTC"

It's 3rd Aug today, they clearly haven't delisted SPC, so why the hell it's still there?

I truly don't like this exchange...
6729  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][DOGE] Dogecoin - very currency many coin - v1.7 Available on: August 03, 2014, 05:21:25 PM
Today marks an important day in the history of Dogecoin. We are here to announce that we will enable the Dogecoin blockchain to accept auxiliary proof of work from other Scrypt chains.
As you all know, we've been looking into a lot of options. AuxPoW has been on the table for quite some time now and has been recently again discussed at length.

We have also discussed many other options, some of them which are still highly theoretical, or just deemed to be in Alpha state. We didn't see them as viable for that exact reason. AuxPoW has been around in the crypto space for quite a while now. Our topmost priority has always been to provide a stable platform for the currency and its services and of course its users. We hope that with AuxPoW we can achieve that in a better way than what it currently is like. Our hashrate has been on a decline and we hope that we can gain more of it with the acceptance of proof of work from other chains.

Yes, this does mean that we are going to fork. The exact switchover is yet to be determined but will happen sooner than later. This post is here to announce it early enough for everyone to prepare for the update. The code is currently in the late testing stage and we are working on ironing out the last small issues.

We will also push a new branch to the [Github repo](https://github.com/dogecoin/dogecoin) called `1.8-dev` which has the AuxPoW switch on the testnet set for block 158,100 (Tomorrow 6:30 GMT). The updated branch will be available later today, so keep an eye on the repo if you're interested. This will be done to help pool operators test the mining on the AuxPoW enabled chain in preperation of the switch on the main chain. If you know how to compile the client, then you can certainly help us by trying it out and even mine a bit with a few KH on the testnet. What you need to know, if you already have the testnet chain synced, is to start the client with `-reindex` the first time you run 1.8. This should be automated for the final so the transition will be as smooth as possible.

What this does not mean is that we're tying us to Litecoin. What we do is accepting Proof of Work from their miners if they happen to hit our difficulty target. But that is technical background stuff, which was explained several times before here. On that note, and I'm no economist, I also don't see that have any negative effect on the price, considering the amount of "dumped" coins would probably not change. Also, you as miners are not forced to mine Litecoin to get Dogecoin now. You can still mine at your current pools directly to the Dogecoin network.

The Android wallet and Multidoge will receive an update if needed. I'll have to dig into this now Wink

Please stay tuned for any updates. We'll be pushing them through all the channels. Thanks everyone for their continued support!

That sounds like a good news. But can anyone clarify, does it mean that Doge will be merge-minable?
I understand that you can still mine Doge/LTC directly, but if the pool enables AuxPow is it possible to mine both at the same time?

To complement your post, ISIS kill Shia's, Iran is the only Shia government in the world.

Didn't know that. You learn something new everyday.

But back on the subject:

Nothing banned or allowed here yet. The government hasn't even noticed the movement. The idea of the exchange has been going through my mind. The problem here is that every exchange needs a constant flow of both currencies to be able to exchange. Even if lots of people use BTC to buy embargoed goods here, the exchange has to have a flow of BTC coming in. As there is no ecosystem of mining here, I don't know if thats even possible.

Bitcoin in this country is not recognized yet, I wonder what should I do first to promote.

If it's not banned then it's allowed. But to be on the safe side, always enquire with the relevant authorities and do everything in full compliance with the law.

Off course low BTC inflow to Iran is a problem. But you can start small, and hope for a steady, organic growth. There are other ways to get BTC other than mining/buying with USD. You can provide services over the internet such as web/graphic design, coding etc in exchange for BTC, you can participate in signature campaigns, or get BTC through Iranian international students/relatives.

Lack of awareness is big issue. But you can spread the word on the popular forums and see how it goes. You can create Iranian sub forum on bitcointalk. If you could get at least 1000 people into bitcoin and get them together, that would be a solid starting point.

The biggest issue imho are the regulations, if BTC gains in popularity in Iran, the government can see it as a threat to local currency and ban it overnight.

Anyway, best of luck.

Then again one could counter argue that the transfer between individuals could go unprecedented to boycott sanctions and to fund such groups as ISIS but if in the end it needs to go to an exchange it raises some interesting legal questions.

Let's not make this thread turn into discussion on "who's the real terrorist", but let's get this straight. Iran does not support ISIS. ISIS fights with Syria, Syria (pres. al-Assad) get political/military support from Iran. So if anything Iran fights ISIS.

ISIS is basically formed from rebels fighting al-Asaad in Syria, who initially got political support from USA and financial support from "Muslim Brotherhood" particularly Kuwait and Saudi Arabia (are those countries under any sanctions for supporting terrorism?).

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-middle-east-24179084

Quote
The US said the fall of Iraq's second city posed a threat to the entire region. It may also have made ISIS the most cash-rich militant group in the world.

Initially, the group relied on donations from wealthy individuals in Gulf Arab states, particularly Kuwait and Saudi Arabia, who supported its fight against President Bashar al-Assad.

Today, IS is said to earn significant amounts from the oil fields it controls in eastern Syria, reportedly selling some of the supply back to the Syrian government. It is also believed to have been selling looted antiquities from historical sites.

Very good point, but the fluctuations in IRR/USD are not as high as %20. Here is a good chart http://www.xe.com/currencycharts/?from=USD&to=IRR&view=1Y. There is a sharp price increase during the Ahmadinejad presidency, but other than that it seems fairly stable.

If you cannot freely exchange IRR/USD then the chart you linked may not be very helpful. The basic formula would be:
Iranian bank interest % - estimated inflation % = X. If X is noticeably higher than the interest % offered by US/European banks, then it can be profitable.

But then you have a legal aspect, both investor and you would be breaking a law (and it's not even because of the embargo). Then you have the aspect of trust...

Plus, how are you going to convert BTC to IRR and back, if according to you:

Also there is no BTC/IRR here.

So nope, it's not a good investment idea.

What's the Iran stance on bitcoin and cryptos? Have they forbidden it? If not, maybe you could try your luck and set up the first BTC/IRR exchange?

If you were to do this then you would be essentially be funding terrorism.

I assume you're joking, right?

A little bug report.

In firefox (31.0) this keeps popping out:

Also, the only option to switch to other games (poker, blackjack, sports) is the tiny black button that only says "blackjack" (red circled). You should list all the options on home page and make them visible, as some new people may not even be aware that you offer more than just a dice game.

Hello,

As a fact the banking interest rate is different between countries. For example in the country I live in, Iran, the banking profit rate is as high as 20% profit a year. If you deposit $100 in your account, you will have $120 at the end of the year (see http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Banking_and_insurance_in_Iran#Rates). This is a result of high loan interest rates and inflation in our country. As another fact, people in other countries don't have access to Iranian banks, as they are embargoed. Also Iranian banks only open bank accounts for Iranian residents.

First of all, do Iranian banks allow to deposit in USD? If so, will the interest rate still be at 20%? I highly doubt it.

If you intend to convert $100 into Iranian rial and deposit rial in the bank for 1 year with 20% interest, assuming the inflation is also at 20%, after 1 year you'd still have only $100.

If the inflation is a bit lower, say 16%, that's still only 4% gain (excluding effect of USD inflation). So doesn't make much sense really.
6735  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Will dogecoin become like Bitcoin? on: August 02, 2014, 09:22:53 AM
So the question is simple will Dogecoin come to a stage like BTC has does? 600$ mark? Or even 100$  mark? What is the main difference in these coins?

That's a flawed logic. Due to the huge differences in supply, DOGE doesn't need to reach $600 mark. If 1 DOGE is $0.087 it would exceed the market cap of BTC ($7.7 billion).
6736  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: You're doing it wrong, Wikimedia on: August 02, 2014, 09:13:18 AM
Just use a fake name generator. i agree they shouldn't be collecting info but from there point they want to make sure they have contact info so they can double dip. Say next month or year they may contact you for a second donation. From there side if they get even 10% to redonate they surely happy.

That's probably the reason. Don't think the KYC applies to non-profit charitable organisation (there may be some donation threshold though, when some info is required).
As long as they don't ask you for the copy of id - I don't see a problem, but if such info is not required by law, they should make it optional.

@Pawel7777 - There was interest payments on the 31rst, could post an img of two wallets with interest payments, if you would like?

You can if you wish. I didn't get any interest on my AllCrypt account (did for all the previous days).
And there's no payments for 31st in the payment history (link in the OP) and here:

http://savecoin.co/paymenthistory.txt

So there seem to be some issues.

" This market is in danger of de-listing due to low trade volume and lack of user interest. It may be removed on Aug 1st unless the average trade volume for the last 7 days exceeds 0.1 BTC"

this is what I got today at Bittrex.

Somehow, someone have to save this SPC coin from de-listing at Bittrex FAST.

No point in pumping false volume. Let the bittrex de-list it, otherwise it will be the same problem over again in few weeks.

Sometimes you need to take a step back in order to move forward.

The coin needs a proper, smart promotion strategy, it's got the great feature, but most people never even heard of SPC. Not to mention that you're the first on to post on this thread in 10 days, seems like the community moved to other things.

Think it'd be a good idea to get it listed on c-cex, they've got the Giveaway section, a good way to build awareness.

EDIT: Looks like there was no interest payment for 31st July, so this coin may already be dead/abandoned. Shame.

Would be awesome to see Dogecar vs Bitcar.

But this idea definitely needs more promotion/awareness. Not much seems to be done in this direction. Not even official bitcointalk thread?

They only raised $3,995 of $100,000 so far...
