6742  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: What is the wattage needed to complete one transaction? (aka CO2 footprint) on: October 25, 2016, 10:12:36 PM
Someone said: "The current transaction fee for BTC is over $6 per transaction. Only supported by the large amount of inflation BTC currently has."

So i see one transaction might be CO2 emission intensive task..

What is the kWh electricity consumption of one BTC transaction?

According to this calculator, 10kWh is 4 kg CO2e

The energy required for each transaction is miniscule.  Transactions cross the network at light speed with very little energy required so I would imagine the cost of every transaction every conducted on the Bitcoin network wouldn't have contributed even 1 kg of CO2 to the environment.  You're barking up the wrong tree.

The real cost of Bitcoin is in the securing of the block chain.  Without that ongoing security, there would be no Bitcoin.  My guess is that 99.9999999 percent or more of the energy expended by Bitcoin is for security.

You can take the number of transactions and divide it into the energy required by miners and nodes to get a figure but that isn't representative of a Bitcoin transaction.  This is only a representation of your short-sightedness and your desire to malign Bitcoin.  What is your motivation?  How much CO2 have you generated penning this ridiculous and poorly-researched question?

In order for someone to "spend" these private keys, they must contain funds.  If they don't contain funds then you are scamming because you have led everyone to believe that they can spend the private keys which they purchase from you.  Change your description or you are a scammer.
Nobody will send you 3 or 5 Bitcoins for these without escrow.  I will go out on a limb here and suggest that nobody will buy any private keys from you at all.

I feel like i'm a slave to society... how do you feel?

me?,
To be a robot with no emotions and work all day, act "normal", and don t question anything. Do what you are told without thinking about it, don t dropout of school, and get married later in life for no reason besides that it is "normal" and that government wants to rule over you.

I ******* hate that ****. It is true! We are born into a system to die within the system? Damn I hate it. I need a job that allows me to travel or do something good. Are there any out there? I want to travel the world in an airplane or by sea or something. Sometimes I'm afraid to take that chance but I know it will be well worth it. I don't want to be a hermit crab hiding in society the rest of my life! I want to get a life! This society is ****. Making us do the work as slaves. No need to hide anything. We are slaves to the one who made the dollar bill or invented the monetary system. What if people would of never invented the dollar bill? Would there be less crime? Less greed? More loving with ourselves??? Money truly is the root of all evil. After all, it is a piece of paper that really is ****. Please leave your reply to this. I would like to hear it. I guess people are so ignorant and fearful to realize or get out of this ****. They're afraid to be without money...

People have never experienced actual slavery as we as people are now experiencing it in the USA today !

I see you chose the username Gifted; what is your gift exactly?  Seems like it might be whining.  Pull your head out of your ass and change things if you don't like it.

I just sold most of my coins (some at 0.000025 and some at 0.00003) so can you update my sell order thanks. I still got 16K available for 0.00003 BTC per coin.

You agreed to sell me 20k @ 0.000025 so I already go and pm SebastianJu to escrow for us and now you are changing the price all of a sudden? What gives?I have already agreed a price and quantity with you.

From what I read, he said he sold some @ 0.000025 which would have been you, no?
6746  Economy / Exchanges / Re: How to buy bitcoins without creditcard? on: October 25, 2016, 12:16:36 PM
I want to buy some bitcoins, but the fees associated with sending fiat money to the exchange are so high. Aproximately 3,6% in fee. How can I buy bitcoins from an exchange and avoid this crazy fee???

Just use localbitcoins and shop around for a better rate.
By the way, how is 3.6% an estimation?  Where did you get this number?
Here are Kraken's fees:

What are the options to deposit or withdraw cash through a bank and what are the fees?

Deposit options and fees
◾EUR SEPA Deposit (Free) - EEA countries only
◾EUR Bank Wire Deposit (€5) - EEA countries only
◾USD Bank Wire Deposit ($5 USD) - US only
◾USD SEPA and SWIFT Deposit (0.19%, $20 minimum)
◾GBP SEPA and SWIFT Deposit (0.19%, £10 minimum)
◾JPY Bank deposit (Free, ¥5,000 deposit minimum) - Japan only
◾CAD Wire Deposit (Free)

Withdrawal options and fees
◾EUR SEPA Withdrawal (€0.09) - EEA countries only
◾USD Bank Wire Withdrawal ($5 USD) - US only
◾USD SEPA and SWIFT withdrawal (0.19%, $20 minimum)
◾GBP SEPA and SWIFT Withdrawal (0.19%, £10 minimum)
◾JPY Bank withdrawal (¥20) - Japan only
◾CAD EFT Withdrawal ($10 CAD flat fee, $25K CAD daily max) - Canada only

I think you need to shop around.

awesome! thank you all so very much. Finally received a confirmation. I'll wake in a few hours to see if it went through. Woot! I learned alot from you all <3

I remember my first transaction.  It was a little unnerving as well Wink

If someone could please point me in the right direction this rabbit would be appreciative.
0 confirms. Idk what is going wrong but i've had many transactions and never a problem. The transaction was sent from electrum. It is for quite alot (atleast for me). So I have read for a few hours and pulled approximately %53 of my hair out.
Unfortunately, I can only seem to understand every other word of the gibberish posted here. Seems like a great community though. Please help the rabbit!!!

It will eventually confirm but you will have to wait a bit longer.  The fee you paid was a little light.

6749  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Free electricity == big advantage? on: October 25, 2016, 02:02:00 AM
I talked my university out of giving me free electricity, basically supporting us with free server farms which include electricity. I am in Malaysia and wants to starts mining and possibly creating a farm, a buddy of mine in China who is familiar with the mining ecosystem there says that even with cheap electricity in china (There are threads saying China's electricity's so cheap) the Roi is diminishing greatly there.

So if I can get free electricity is it still worth starting from scratch, I mean making this a full time job, and start mining?

Note: considering to give up my not-too-bad job for this

Are you currently employed as a janitor at the university or are you kitchen staff?  Certainly you can't be a student.
Firstly, if you talked the university out of giving you free electricity, then you are not getting free electricity.
Secondly, only a fool would attempt to mine bitcoin on a server farm even with free electricity - it would simply be wasteful and unproductive.

If you are not planning to mine bitcoin, then you are in the wrong section and you should move this post.  Whatever you decide to do, do not quit your job.

^She's a good Canadian girl^
I'm pretty sure all she brought to England were her Malibu clothes which were a little light for the climate so she's a little chilled.  That's why she's wearing the over-sized pink cardigan that she borrowed from Sir Elton John.

Sorry to put a damper on the heightened sexuality but I found this Hillary interview at imgur today Wink

I have a theory.  Craig Wright failed to convince us he was the founder and now he wants to destroy Bitcoin with disinformation.

There are two specs for buffer_payload
One says ASCII from 23 to 255
The other says 32 to 254
Is this a typo or am I missing something?

6754  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Need help with Future Bitcoin Farm on: October 20, 2016, 02:12:56 AM
Honestly I don't mind helping people and answering a few questions but you have a very long list of questions that would require a lot of thought and probably an essay to answer.  If you are serious about this investment, you shouldn't come in here with a list of questions (especially when you apparently haven't bothered to do much research on your own).  Instead, you should be asking how to hire a Bitcoin mining consultant.  If you are seriously going to invest millions of dollars, you'd better not rely on the free responses you are going to get here.  You need a comprehensive report complete with charts, graphs, proofs, math and a summary that even a layman could understand.

If you buy a containerized solution from Bitfury, you will never get your money back.  It is far too expensive. Also, Bitfury will be your competition so I doubt they have much incentive to sell to you other than to make more money from you than they could by mining with the container themselves.

Another thing I will tell you is that in order to make 5000 coins per month, you would need to have 9.25% of the network hashing rate which presently works out to 168 PH/s or 10 of those $2.5million containers.

6755  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Maintaining proper humidity level on: October 19, 2016, 11:00:59 PM
I keep a spray bottle of water handy and occasionally walk around the room spraying a mist it if I see the humidity below about 30%.  It boosts the humidity for quite a while but I don't have any empirical data for you.  I also use this method in winter for long duration car trips but the spray bottle is much smaller.

6757  Economy / Reputation / spazzdla account sold or hacked? on: October 19, 2016, 10:30:39 PM
I see that spazzdla is trying to sell a verified paypal account on the forum.  I had never seen him selling anything previously so it seemed odd.  On checking the profile, it seems the e-mail address on that account has changed recently.  I suspect that this account has been sold or hacked.  I may be wrong about that but even still, the selling of verified paypal accounts can only lead to scamming.
