You said it was working with 0.12, so why did you upgrade? you could have ignored the error message I guess.
not really, Armory, my venerable and trusted wallet software, broke You have money invested on this thing, make the effort to keep it updated to the latest version.
Yeah, I'm trying, achow101 and goatpig are helping me in another thread. It's just, when I get a stable setup going where my coin are not being stolen I am REALLY paranoid about changing it at all.

paste...bin
okey dokey, I guess I'll google that and try and figure out what it is...sorry I'm doing it wrong
edit/ hmmmmm, so I deleted those log files and restarted like you said, and now it is building databases, which it was not doing before

|

So you don't want us to make improvements? You don't want us to make the software faster? You don't want us to fix bugs and vulnerabilities? it was working before, now it isn't working, from a dumb user's perspective this is not an improvement You don't need to upgrade if you don't want to. No one is forcing you to upgrade.
I guess, unless I want access to my wallets... really, I am sorry for my tone, and I very much appreciate the help, I just get super agitated when this stuff breaks

Thank you for the reply. I apologize for my ignorance and frustration. It isn't the new database format. Armory does not use Bitcoin Core's databases. Please do not assume that the one thing you know changed is what breaks the software. fair enough, noted The reason your old Armory is failing is because segwit changes the block format, and old versions of Armory do not understand the segwit block format.
Upgrading to Armory 0.96.2 and deleting the databases folder in Armory's datadir should fix your problem. unfortunately this does not seem to change the programs behavior Also, post your log files.
OK, working on doing that right

sigh
so my old stuff all broke this morning, what with segwit and all
updated core to 0.15.0cr3, which caused a full resync, so 10 hours crunching on that
fired up my old armory and, of course, it acked on the new DB format
got 0.96.2-beta-95dc55907f installed and got my wallets imported...and Armory just camps offline
OS is win7 64, File\Settings\General\Bitcoin Software Management is pointing to the appropriate directories
I know that, eventually, we will get it all working, but you will understand that in the mean time this is most stress inducing. Your assistance is very much appreciated.

well, all day crunching and I got all reindexed and...the new database format breaks my old, trusted, Armory but good
I really wish you guys wouldn't do this. Now I have to update my wallet, with all the implied vulnerabilities of that...smh.

BitcoinWisdom is a zombie site. Its owners do not update it and do not check this thread. The site has been on autopilot for many months. The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again expecting a different result. Posting here will not fix BitcoinWisdom. Please stop.

Such an updater changes the security model of Bitcoin Core's distribution and introduces more trust on the Bitcoin Core developers. It introduces phone home code and we don't really want to do that as it also introduces centralization in addition to the security implications. You would be trusting the developers to secure the server that your software connects to. You would be trusting that they are hosting genuine software on that server. You are trusting the software to establish a secure connection, download the software, and verify it. There is a lot of trust introduced, which is why Bitcoin Core has no auto-update functionality. The current security model is that you as the user must go and retrieve the installer and verify it yourself. This keeps the burden of security on the user instead of the developers.
Thank you for the reply. I kind of figured as much. I do get it. In 6-8 more hours I should have a node back up.

Read the release notes. That is supposed to happen. Some people. ![Roll Eyes](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/rolleyes.gif) I think not The first time you run version 0.15.0, your chainstate database will be converted to a new format, which will take anywhere from a few minutes to half an hour, depending on the speed of your machine. that was that UXTO or whatever, that went pretty quickly I do not see this full reindex referenced in the notes
