6781  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin or Gold? on: April 23, 2021, 08:40:29 PM
This makes me wonder, which of the aforementioned assets are better as a long term store of value?
Bitcoin is young and more volatile, but I prefer it to gold, because it has limited supply (only 21 million) unlike gold that gold miners will continue to mine. But, it is good to be patient, and learn how and when the exact time to invested, when price is low.

Is it Bitcoin, Gold, or both?
It is good to diversify, both of them are good. Although, I prefer bitcoin over gold.

Why do you think such asset is better?
People will become more literate, gold supply is finite, unlike bitcoin supply. The world are going more digital.

Do you think at some point in the future Bitcoin will replace Gold?
That is certain that bitcoin will replace gold, it can take long but the day is coming.
6782  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Viabtc help on: April 23, 2021, 08:23:58 PM
Viabtc free accelerator can accelerate transaction fee with 0.0001 btc or above.
No. The minimum amount that will be paid is not in actual fee (sat) as bitcoin price is fluctuating, but in feerate (sat/byte). ViaBTC can accelerate transactions that has feerate of 0.0001BTC/KB which is also the same as 10 sat/byte.

<...>
The mempool is very congested, and the feerate is back around 250 sat/vbyte. Just try to wait until the mempool become decongested.
6783  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Viabtc help on: April 23, 2021, 08:08:43 PM
Given the other thread posted by OP, he/she is talking about this tranasction.
The transaction has not been flagged as RBF and it is paying 9 sat/byte as transaction fee.
I thought OP did not post any link related to txid, and OP posted above that he used 0.0006 BTC, but it was a mistake from the OP, he/she used 0.00006 BTC instead according to what was on blockchain explorer using the link you posted above.
6784  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Viabtc help on: April 23, 2021, 07:53:54 PM

You are sending the transaction to coinbase, which makes you not able to use CPFP as you implied. But let me ask you these two questions to know if you can still avoid using paid accelerator.

Do you use a wallet that support replace-by-fee? Like electrum wallet. If so, try to confirm if the transaction is replaceable, if replaceable, you can easily pump the fee?

If you have change address UTXO, you can still make use of CPFP. All you will need to do is to spend bitcoin from the change address and send it to another address on your wallet (or spend part of the UTXO in another transaction), but using a high fee. The mempool recently dropped, 84 sat/vbyte will get a single (1 input and 2 outtputs) transaction confirmed now, so multiply it by 2 and minus it by you last feerate will be the good feerate you can use for now, i.e paying for two transactions.

If you can not use CPFP, then just wait is the best advice.

Edit:
Fee was 0.0006.  Cannot use free
0.0006 btc?

The feerate to that will be more than 10sat/byte which is the minimum feerate used Inna transaction to be able to use ViaBTC free accelerator, you will be able to use ViaBTC free acceleratator. Just keep on trying, it will later work, only 100 transactions per hour are accepted, the reason many transactions are not included.
6785  Economy / Exchanges / Re: [Binance.com] Does the 5 attempts to enter the correct password reset? on: April 23, 2021, 04:43:17 PM
I could swear I'm entering the correct password but it says I'm not.
It's because the password you are entering is not correct.

If you can not access your email account, I hope you still remember the username which is what was used on binance. You can click on forgot password to recover back you email. This should work if necessary information needed for the recovery is provided.

Try not to be careless with your accounts.

I hope I you recover your email, your Binance account recovery will be possible.
6786  Economy / Services / Re: Free BTC transaction accelerator! on: April 23, 2021, 04:34:26 PM
@Lucius, looks like no one is here to experience your service yet. A few hours ago, a newbie came here looking for the accelerator, but it misplaced the section. A few hours ago, a newbie came here looking for the accelerator, but he wrote in the wrong section. I posted and advised him to find you, but strangely, my post has been deleted. And he still isn't here.
I see no reason why the topic was nuked and your post got deleted along. This is the nuked thread:

This is the user's txid of the stuck transaction:

6787  Economy / Services / Re: Free BTC transaction accelerator! on: April 23, 2021, 01:03:23 PM
Why exactly should anyone use your service when actually everyone has access to free tx accelerators? To be honest with you I have my doubts that you are just trying to get some easy earned merits there.
ViaBTC only include 100 transactions to be freely accelerate by hour, and you know how many people will be doing it in the world, this can be so annoying as many people are complaining it has not successfully worked for them before because of submission which is always beyond limit. If someone is here to help about this, I do not think there is anything bad, but only that privacy will be reduced. I do not see anything bad about this, and if a post deserve merit, like Lucius helped someone to accelerate using the free ViaBTC accelerator, then why is he not deserving merit? We all post here and who so ever that deserves merit will be given. I do not see anything bad about this in my opinion than someone trying to help people with stuck transactions during this mempool congested period like this. Or, do you not know the mempool is so congested ever than before, and many transactions remain stuck?

I appreciate the correction. I continue to distrust blockchain.com wallet the more, I even thought the quote above will be genuine, after the article was written by them, they are lying. I believe it is noncustodial, but I do not fully believe again, what if they can be able to access the encrypted data? I believe if they are the one that encrypt it, they can also have malacious ways not known to others about the decryption. Although, they are the wallet that are fixated at the old standard, not even supporting segwit since it was implemented some years ago.

6790  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: bitcoin unconfirmed 6 days - can't do CPFP says mempool too large. on: April 22, 2021, 09:50:44 PM
Not technical about it but how long before the mempool gaves up a transaction, like it was a failed one. Or it does?
It depends, the normal days are 14 days for bitcoin core, but this can be so confusing as some nodes may still pass the transactions to other nodes even when you think the transaction is no more in mempool, and also are cases of transactions that can be confirmed in 30 days or more (I even had 1 that took 40 days recently before it confirmed without leaving the mempool). So, I can say there is no specific day for transaction to finally leave a mempool. Even, if wallet synchronized with the blockchain, they do automatically rebroadcaste transactions in the process.

For people to deal with stuck transactions, there are easy ways now, using segwit wallet is very important for low fee, but the most important is to use a wallet that support replace-by-fee for transactions, electrum wallet has all these. Also, taking advantage of when the mempool is not congested.

Expecting transaction to leave the mempool so that you can rebroadcaste it can be annoying, even if you do not sychronize the wallet with the blockchain for many days so that it will not automatically rebroadcaste the transaction again.

<... >
It is very possible, it is luck, there are some people that have acceleratated their transaction freely today, but The Pharmacist is also very right, the free acceleratation using ViaBTC only accept 100 transactions per hour, and compare it with plenty people that will be making use of it every hour in the world, that is why many transactions will not be acceleratated. But, it truly do work, especially if someone continuously trying, but it can be annoying.
6791  Other / Politics & Society / Re: JOE BIDEN wants to DOUBLE your TAXES on BITCOIN gains! on: April 22, 2021, 08:44:11 PM
Don't worry it's only for "Wealthy Americans", not all men and women created by...go...you know...you know the thing.
For the rich or not the rich, that capital gain tax rate is too much.

President Joe Biden will propose nearly doubling the capital gains tax rate for wealthy Americans to 39.6%, Bloomberg News reported Thursday. Combined with an existing surtax on investment income, Bloomberg said, that means federal tax rates for investors could be as high as 43.4%. Bloomberg cited people familiar with the proposal, and said the plan would boost the capital gains rate to 39.6% for those earning $1 million or more.
6792  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: bitcoin unconfirmed 6 days - can't do CPFP says mempool too large. on: April 22, 2021, 08:36:16 PM
ok thanks so my option is to spam accelerators to do it
my money wont disappear tho right?
6 days already had me worried
No, nothing will happen to your bitcoin. Only your transaction hash (txid) is needed to accelerate it. Know that only 100 transactions are included per hour, the acceleratation might be unsuccessful for a while, but just keep trying your luck until it works. If successfully accelerated, your transaction will be confirmed in the next block mined by ViaBTC.
6793  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: bitcoin unconfirmed 6 days - can't do CPFP says mempool too large. on: April 22, 2021, 08:26:47 PM
0.000344 BTC (18.78 USD)  ( 180.1 sat/byte )
Position in mempool: 0.78 MB from tip
Size: 191 bytes
Try to acceleratate it using ViaBTC. Try all the time until it is successful acceleratated. It will definitely work.

Alternative
You can try to increase the feerate if the transaction support replace-by-fee. Do not use CPFP because it will only result into you paying for two transactions.

If you are using legacy addresses (addresses that starts from 1), do not use it again. Use segwit addresses (the addresses that start from bc1), you can safe up to 42% fee or higher by using segwit addresses. To find a wallet that support segwit, use electrum. You can get it from electrum.org, make sure you verify its signature.
6794  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: bitcoin unconfirmed 6 days - can't do CPFP says mempool too large. on: April 22, 2021, 08:21:08 PM
You need to provide more details. What is the feerate (sat/vbyte) used? Maybe you can use ViaBTC free acceleratator. If you are confused, can you paste us your transaction hash (txid)? Although, It can affect your privacy as we will know about the transaction and previous transactions into and out of the address.
6795  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Is this normal to other people or just me ? on: April 22, 2021, 08:05:45 PM
I haven't ever had blockchain.com, but I guess that it keeps your private keys on their database. How's that non-custodian?
I too have not used the wallet before, I downloaded it just to know how the wallet was at the time, and I deleted it without using it. According to the claim by the article I have found out about the wallet which I am not sure if it is true:

We do not store your bitcoins, we only provide you with the software you need to store them yourself. Your wallet is encrypted on your device with your personal password.

So, I do not think they store private key or anything related on database, that is why the seed phrase or the wallet file is important/needed during recovery.

That quote is a damn lie from blockchain.com

They have always stored the private keys in their database but only encrypted.
6796  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Is this normal to other people or just me ? on: April 22, 2021, 07:48:54 PM
  • You're using an online wallet and not a non-custodian.
Blockchain.com wallet is a noncustododial web wallet, but a wallet that require email is not a recommendable wallet, one of the reasons such wallet should not be used, and the other reason is what you commented about above, about it not supporting segwit. The mempool is so congested right now, but it is as a result of miners that are recently not mining in China due to blackout (the cause of the blackout, I am not certain of), if they still not yet continue to mine, the mining difficulty will still be adjusted, and the feerate will be reduced in approximately 2 weeks time, which is usually done at every 2016 block.
6797  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Is this normal to other people or just me ? on: April 22, 2021, 07:36:26 PM
There is no specific blockchain for Africa nor specific miners for Africa, there is only one blockchain and miners are all over the world mining and confirming transactions which is general and not specific to a particular country or continent. The mempool right now can include transactions with feerate over 200 sat/vbytes, this is unusual. This will soon be over approximately begining of next month when mining difficulty is adjusted, their would be reduction in feerate.

But, try to make use of segwit next time, you can use electrum wallet for that rather than using wallet that do not support segwit. Blockchain.com wallet supports only legacy, this will be responsible for more teasnation fee paid, if it is native segwit you want to use, 42% or more fee would be safed as segwit fee is lower by 42% or more.

Also, know that bitcoin transaction fee is not calculated using the amount you want to send, it is calculated based on weight. If you are sending $10 worth of bitcoin with 1 input and 2 outputs, and the fee is 0.00002 BTC, the same amount of fee will cost you if even sending $1000000 worth of bitcoin having 1 input and 2 outputs.

6798  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Why do exchanges give you so much less coin in return exchanging vs buying? on: April 22, 2021, 11:16:33 AM
According to what I researched just now, ChnageNow is a decentralized exchanges, I do not know how decentralized actually is it, but it will definitely charged transaction fees paid to miners for every buying and selling, in addition to the normal fee charges. I guess the fee paid to miners for transaction confirmation is responsible for this. Is there no option to edit the fee? This will be the best option, also trying to make use of weekends to buy and sell if you can edit the fee (especially Sundays) because the fee are usually less during weekends, but not all weekends. Or, you can try to make use of direct p2p exchange performs (but be mindful of scammers), you will need to make use of a trusted escrow provider. Or, try to make use of noncustodial custododial exchanges like Coinbase or Kraken.

I no understand watin you dey try talk for here o and u for like make you clear me small because, I believe say talk dey here way fit give person hope.
Waiting I mean be sey the resistance for a price above $60000 dey too much, and big institutions no dey try at that level. You know sey institutions tried as bitcoin price dey increase, especially the ones that cause fomo buying. Grayscale and microstrategy try push the price upto $40000, while Tesla push the price to over $58000. Although, no be sey na wating they invested push the price, na because sey the amount huge and cause people to fomo and bought more bitcoin at the time, which made the price to over $58000. News sey miners dey hold and whales no dey sell again push the price from $45000 when the price falled, it increased to $62000, the price drop again, the same news of whales and miners dey hold cause the last bull market again before the last crash. And the price not get upto to $70000 yet having resistance at $60000. Na why I say e go hard for the price to reach $70000, but over long time, as we know how bitcoin dey deflationary and people will buy more, will make the price increase above $70000 certainly, but I dey guess not now.
6800  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Transactions Fee Are More Expensive Than Ever on: April 22, 2021, 08:20:43 AM
How many times do we need this to be repeated. The sudden huge fee paid lately is as a result of reduced mining hashrates, and if it continues like this, the next 2016 blocks is not even upto 2 weeks again, and the mining difficulty will be adjusted, in which fee will become back to normal.
