683  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Quicken 2009 UI ridiculously slow when mining on: June 16, 2011, 11:48:12 PM
I wonder why Quicken 2009's UI is so dependent on the GPU that you can watch every control repaint in slow motion. It's practically unusable.

Change -f so the framerate is above 60.

Well done, that was just posted twice.

686  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: allinvain please call law enforcement on: June 16, 2011, 02:12:19 PM
What the hell is law enforcement supposed to do ¿ ¿ ¿
Maybe some computer forensics?

Even if they found something, they wouldn't have jurisdiction to touch MtGox.
687  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Iphone Bitcoin App on: June 16, 2011, 01:32:55 PM
I would love to see something for the Windows 7 phone, if anyone wants to work on that... lol

Once the Mango updates comes out we'll have support for sockets, which I believe would be a requirement for running any Bitcoin client (the whole p2p part) Smiley
IIRC the SDK is already there so I might check if I could port the java client to C# already.

If you need any help PM me.
688  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Gui miner and Phoenix on: June 16, 2011, 01:14:32 PM
What do you mean check on the pool? I'm solo mining

Don't solo mine with only that much hashing power, join a pool.
689  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: My account Mt Gox got hacked and I lost 177 BTC, I have decided to call the cops on: June 16, 2011, 01:12:12 PM
Ok, so im going to Lock this. Seeing as it's just fuelling the 'trolling' stories and whatnot.

690  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: PCI-e cards: must they be in a 16x slot? on: June 16, 2011, 01:06:14 PM
Thanks for the detailed reply there SomeoneWeird, just ordered myself a 1x pci-e extender off ebay. Now should I order another 5830 or stick my old 4870 in there? hmmm Undecided

Get at LEAST a 5830 Smiley
691  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: PCI-e cards: must they be in a 16x slot? on: June 16, 2011, 12:55:11 PM
I've read that mining doesn't require the high PCI-e speed. I is more reliant on the gpu itself. You shouldn't lose much, if anything, because you are using a lower speed slot. Good Luck!

Well done, you just repeated my answer, with less info.
692  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: PCI-e cards: must they be in a 16x slot? on: June 16, 2011, 12:43:21 PM
stuck in this forum still, so please bear with me.  I want to jump into mining, and I am trying to spec out a rig for myself.  I would like to run 3 GPUs per box, but it is difficult to find motherboards that have 3 PCI-e slots that can run at 16x.  If I run them at 8x or even 4x, will I take a substantial hit in Mh/s?

Yep, you can run GPU's for mining at x1. Grab a few PCI-E x1 extenders, cut the side off (OF THE EXTENDER, DONT CUT YOUR MOTHERBOARD!) so the GPU will fit in, stick a wire in it like so and then put the extender in, and plug the GPU into that, should work like a charm then Smiley
693  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Bitcoin Australia on: June 16, 2011, 12:40:27 PM

SomeoneWeird,

Will do mate! Have you got any links to any other Bitcoin stuff happening in Australia?

Not really, theres quite a few of us in IRC though, I'm sure if you jumped on everyone else has a few links and stuff Smiley
694  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Bitcoin Australia on: June 16, 2011, 12:26:26 PM
Hi Just seeing how many miners are in Australia?

We have setup a Mining Rig Supply & Rental website http://www.bitcoinminingrigs.com.au/ providing dedicated Rigs for people around Australia, we also have a Rig rental service for World Wide customers and Local Australian customers also.

We are hoping to have a pool setup in Australia also very shortly!

It would be great to see how many people out there are from Australia.

Nice, drop by #bitcoin-aus some time.
695  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Hello world on: June 16, 2011, 12:24:13 PM
I am a newbie as you know  Grin
This must be answered somewhere but the forum is too crowded to search/find.

Anyway here is my question

I am making bitcoins with rpcminer-cpu.exe by 500 KHash/s.
When can i see my first 0.1 BTC?

Thx

In about 5 years. Seriously?

Im getting 8mh/s from my CPU. your not even getting 1. Something's wrong.

Then again, don't use your CPU, get a proper GPU miner.

And welcome.
696  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Effective Antivirus on: June 16, 2011, 11:10:04 AM
If you actually believe that BitDefender is #1, you're sadly mistaken. It's all PR rubbish. Avira is a good freebie, NOD32 is the best to pay for.

I didn't pay for BitDefender 2012 Beta and it working out excellent.

To everyone who reported this post, the 2012 Beta is free.
697  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Effective Antivirus on: June 16, 2011, 08:51:52 AM
I currently use Avira, and so far it's worked pretty well. Any criticisms? Obviously I like it for it's price as well, and I barely web browse on the PC I use it on, but I am almost constantly connected online, so any recommendations would be appreciated.

BitDefender - AV
Comodo - Firewall.

That should do it Smiley
698  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Bitcoin original client v0.3.23 windows did not have generate coin? on: June 16, 2011, 07:16:48 AM
Hi,

I cannot post to the development section, so I post here. Maybe someone can forward to that section.

I have used v0.3.21 windows and it has option "Generate coin". but today when I download and install v.0.3.23, the "generate coin" option is missing.

How do I generate coin with the original client?

Thanks.

You don't, you've been wasting electricity. If you want to generate a block using the bitcoin client, it would take you something like 600 years to find one. Download a proper GPU mining client, or at least a CPU one. Locked.
699  Other / Obsolete (selling) / Re: eve accounts pack. on: June 16, 2011, 05:31:31 AM
