allinvain, firstly sorry to hear about this theft.

This is theft, and on a major scale, so I suspect it would be best to call the RCMP or other appropriate law enforcement.

We always hear about how BTC are really just pseudonymous. This case will be a good check on that. Hopefully it will be possible to track down who did this and put them behind bars.

There are several different types of Bitcoin clients. The most secure are full nodes like Bitcoin Core, but full nodes are more resource-heavy, and they must do a lengthy initial syncing process. As a result, lightweight clients with somewhat less security are commonly used.

He has called law enforcement, but they won't be able to do anything. The best we can do is track the money and see if it can be linked to an actual identity.

Even if they found something, they wouldn't have jurisdiction to touch MtGox.

this guys ended up calling people from Middle East and gave them my information because i was on his computer once while he was there checking my email. i never stole this guys coins or am i associated with bit coins.

I am not a crook - he is the crook for making false accusations and giving my personal information to ppl on middle east - my family and i have been harassed for the past 3 months
