Hi, potentially ignorant question but now that Mintcoin is 100% PoS is the transaction time still 2 minutes?

I see that the mining block time was 30 seconds with 4 required confirmations.

Does this change due to PoS or not? I see you get PoS payment every 20 days.

Transaction time is still 30 seconds (under ideal conditions).... full confirmation in 2 minutes (under ideal conditions).

I will be looking for additional sponsors for the SC Redwood Reforestation project soon.  Headed to Austria on Thursday for 6 weeks, where I will be able to work from my laptop.  After that, I will be at the project site starting June 18th.

I am working with the land owners/foresters to get some new pictures of the site, should have those today or tomorrow.

Thank you to those who have donated and volunteered already.

Cheers,
Patrick

LoL?

How much money are we talking about here.

Oh no, I'm out $20 on WC.  The sky is falling.  Heaven help us all.

Nah... I'll just hold this bag and forget about it.  If the community wants to fix things, that's cool, if not, time to go make some more money elsewhere.

Time to buy, price is cheap !

You know what else is cheap?  Karmacoin.  And it actually has active developers.

Why are you guys still putting faith in the same guy that helped the Worldcoin Foundation and Scharmbeck scam the hell out of their supporters?
688  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][POT] PotCoin Launches Today 01/21 @ 4:20 on: April 18, 2014, 07:10:22 AM
What about vulnerability??  And does this change my current wallet?

There will always be a vulnerability to using a web wallet, just like there's a vulnerability to using online banking or email.  There is a team working specifically on the wallet around the clock to make sure it is secure and ready for 4/20

Feel free to test it out and give feedback in IRC, freenode #potwallet

Android Wallet:

It looks like the Web Wallet is going to be integrated with the Potwallet, so you will have the option to either download the wallet to your phone or just use your browser.  This way anyone can use the wallet even people with iOS or any computer.  This will make point of sale in stores pretty simple.

Vote for PotCoin so we can have a POS system ready on 4/20.  We want to be #1   Smiley

To vote:    https://www.coinpayments.net/vote

To see results:   https://www.coinpayments.net/vote-results

The Potcoin team is in Denver right now setting up dispensaries with wallets and introducing them to Potcoin for this weekend.  They will be giving away Potcoin at Centennial park and also giving out Potcoin gear and more prizes!!

But that's not all... wait till you see what else is coming... Wink

691  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: cryptsy gone to the dogs-e on: March 29, 2014, 06:13:31 AM
Cryptsy gets rich by draining the cryptocoin community of wealth through lies and what would be described as fraud under any other economic system. Just because crypto is new doesn't mean no one is noticing Cryptsy drain this community dry as they promote a ponzi mentality. Boycott Cryptsy.

You could think this, but the reality is that the cryptocoin community is a bunch of greedy idealists that continues to believe in fairy tales that "their" coin is going to be the "next big thing"

The entire crypto community is cannibalizing itself and while Cryptsy didn't help it, I can't blame them for making money and staying relevant.
692  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: cryptsy gone to the dogs-e on: March 29, 2014, 06:12:04 AM
agreed and Max coin proves your point.

and Cryptsy is trying ? yeah they are trying to get a lot more fast and loose with the morals lol
they added voting and paid voting and have snuck in all sorts of shitty coins.. can you say ORB ?
Which was snuck back in mid Dec after public out cry force them to pull it an hour after they added it months earlier because of a premine.
Seems a premine is now acceptable no matter how bad.. we see no out cry ever since orb back in like AUG of last year.. scummy pricks have taken over.

Greed, corruption and money, Crypto at it's finest these days.

Quite frankly, Cryptsy doing the paid votes was a good thing because it neutralized Mintpal's paid voting scheme.  After a couple weeks, pump and dumps became obsolete as people traded the news quicker and quicker.  In other words, the pumps lasted about half as long each additional coin voting.  Now, there are virtually no pumps due to the voting mechanisms.

This is a good thing.  Also shows that people are tired of crappy coins and getting burnt.

Cryptsy is at a crossroads.  Do they continue the trend of shitty altcoins or do they add some real value?  Like upgrading their platform, becoming a Ripple gateway, expanding into the services that they've been talking about for months, etc.

But I will say one thing, at least they have good security.   I've never lost any money at Cryptsy.
693  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][AUR][MANDATORY UPDATE] Auroracoin - a cryptocurrency for Iceland on: March 26, 2014, 07:15:06 AM
Wow, lot of negativity on here, yet no suggestions of a better way of executing an airdrop.

Here's some ideas..........

How about a longer [PRE-ANN] about the new coin to let people become aware of your intentions and debate the best way of rolling out out?

Why did it have to launch so fast?   Why did the block awards have to be that large?  Why did the coin have to be forked?

How about giving longer than <2 months to attract developers, businesses, pools, exchanges, games, etc to get ready for this coin?

How about having your forums populated, a complete announce list?

There is plenty that could have been done.  Two months to convert an entire country over to some cryptocurrency?  It boggles my mind that anybody thought it could have been possible.....

People need to think for a change and get out of their trance of chasing every new flashy coin that is released without asking questions first. If people lose money on auroracoin it is their own stupidity.  This hasn't played out by far yet.......

It will probably take at least another 3 to 6 months before auroracoin has the same following as Netcoin [NET] or Sexcoin [SXC]

If somebody wants to release a coin for Iceland and do it properly, then start planning now, get a team together, and have it ready for 2015.  THAT'S HOW YOU DO IT

Have you ever heard the phrase:  No good deed goes unpunished.
694  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][AUR][MANDATORY UPDATE] Auroracoin - a cryptocurrency for Iceland on: March 26, 2014, 07:13:55 AM
People were warned repeatedly about what would happen with this coin, but they kept holding. I guess it shouldn't shock me that I'm seeing posts from people who are just going to go down with the ship and lose every bit of value they have left in their AUR, as the recipients in Iceland cash it in. It wasn't hard to do the math on this. There's no infrastructure, nobody can or will use the coin, it is simply acting as a mechanism to transfer YOUR money to Icelanders. They're cashing it in - as anyone would - for something with actual value in their daily life.

Take your loss and lick your wounds, lesson learned - don't go down with the ship, because it's only just begun taking on water and with the volume of coin yet to be distributed, it has nowhere to go but down, from here.

qft

I'll keep buying and increase my share until I can go to Iceland and spend Auroracoins on a range of services, I'm sure it will make for a nice holiday Smiley

You will be able to spend them outside of Iceland as well.  See https://moolah.io/merchants/learn-more
695  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][AUR][MANDATORY UPDATE] Auroracoin - a cryptocurrency for Iceland on: March 26, 2014, 07:12:55 AM

The majority of the population segment that has been cut out of the airdrop (35yo+) because of the validation chosen (facebook)
is also the same segment that owns the majority of businesses. I am guessing they might be a bit put off because of this
alone.

In less than 3 minutes after reading your assertion I was able to determine there are 116,000 people on Facebook who claim to live in Iceland and are aged 35 and over.  And there are 220,000 people on Facebook who claim to live in Iceland and are 13+, so in fact more than half of the people that can participate in this experiement are in your segment of the population that are 'cut out of the airdrop'.

I can't think of a more efficient way for one person to execute an airdrop at such low cost than using FB to validate, can you?

Sure there will be fraud.  This is a project that involves humans.  If you're looking for perfection let us know when you build it.

Classic!

Can the dev please contact me?

I've updated to the latest source but i'm still stuck at 15553.

Thanks

This is for anyone "stuck" because of a bad node somewhere (yet to figure out who it is)

Delete all files in %appdata% except for your conf and wallet.dat

Download the newest binary

https://github.com/thekidcoin/fluttercoin/releases/tag/v0.4.5.3-flt

Make your conf file look like this:

rpcuser=username
rpcpassword=password
rpcallowip=127.0.0.1
connect=54.203.244.170
connect=54.203.244.27
connect=54.199.237.235
noirc=1
dnsseed=0

Its not possible to download the wrong fork using this method.  All those nodes are operating on the correct blockchain.

Then, shutdown the wallet, and change the conf back to look like:

rpcuser=username
rpcpassword=password
rpcallowip=127.0.0.1
addnode=54.203.244.170
addnode=54.203.244.27
addnode=54.199.237.235
noirc=1
listen=1
dnsseed=1
server=1

I can confirm this indeed works. I backed up my wallet.dat and deleted all fluttercoin files. Downloaded the new wallet and then ran the wallet and it did get stuck at block 15553. I then deleted everything again and tried exactly what thekidcoin just described for the .conf and now my wallet is up to date and works fine.

CONFIRMED! This works perfectly. Thanks!

This worked for me as well, just a warning, those IP addresses were blocked by Peerblock for me, which took a while to figure out why it wouldn't work.  You might need to unblock them as they are Amazon, Inc. and my P2P list was filtering them.

They are my addresses... I despise peerblock for reasons like this.  How would one go about unblocking IP's???

I'm not sure.  But I imagine they are under the P2P list that I block.  I had to unblock them.

It is not Peerblock per se, but the lists that I use to block potential government snoopers.

Anyways, they block Amazon cloud servers for the most part.  Are you using Amazon cloud to host your nodes?

698  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][AUR][MANDATORY UPDATE] Auroracoin - a cryptocurrency for Iceland on: March 25, 2014, 04:37:43 PM
AUR can be a success if merchants learn how to accept it as payment before consumers learn how to dump the coins on exchanges.

The clock is ticking.

In other news.. AUR has disappeared off CMC?

Nah, it will be a success it just will take time, that's all.  I am glad the Icelandic people got educated even if they sell their coins, the coins will still have a lot of value in the long-term as this was a remarkable way to grow a community and educate an entire country.
699  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][AUR][MANDATORY UPDATE] Auroracoin - a cryptocurrency for Iceland on: March 24, 2014, 08:00:44 AM
Tomorrow dev will announce the "airdrop", send all his coins to cryptsy and cash out. You can quote me on that.

To sell or to hodl, this is the question!

It's not a question for some people Smiley

The dev has already stated the phase 1 distribution will take 4 months.  It is unlikely most of the coins will be claimed in this time period.  I imagine it will be a very slow and arduous process.  The price might dip a little bit, but I imagine it will climb back again.

Auroracoin has a unpredictable future Smiley
