Somtimes AMD settings will still show gaming mode even after you switch to compute. Once you reboot, it should show compute mode for the cards. If you want to use the compute drivers, Afterburner will not work with AMD Crimson 17.11.xx or 17.12.xx drivers and multiple cards. Either use the Claymore config file to apply the overclock and undervolt settings at runtime, or use OverdriveNtool to create overclocking profiles for your cards as explained on www.mining.help.

If you want to use Afterburner with multiple cards you need to use the AMD blockchain drivers and you are limited to 8 AMD cards.
682  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: How to connect multiple fans? on: January 21, 2018, 09:28:01 PM
You can use a fan 3/4 pin splitter cable to run multiple fans off the same 4-pin molex connector. I just use a box fan which does a better job at removing the heat from the cards and is much cheaper and easier to replace  than multiple box fans.

With a modded Bios on RX 470/480 and 570 cards you need to use the AMD pixel patcher to bypass the signature check or you will have a code 43 error in the Windows Device Manager and they won't work. Most RX 580's don't need the patcher. Apply the patcher after installing or updating the AMD driver and reboot. If you are still having trouble, try removing the drivers in safe mode using DDU, install the latest AMD driver, apply the pixel patcher and toggle compute mode on in AMD settings for all the cards.

https://www.monitortests.com/forum/Thread-AMD-ATI-Pixel-Clock-Patcher
I just tried booting into safe mode through msconfig and now I only see a black screen and nothing else! I am connected to one of my video cards with HDMI and I can't get it out of safe mode!

As I said, if you modded the Bios on RX 570's they won't work unless you run the pixel patcher after installing or updating the drivers. Try connecting to the onboard  video to get in to safe mode and run DDU to remove the drivers. After that reboot, install the latest driver from AMD and run the pixel patcher before you reboot.

If I put //localhost:42000 in browser it show the statistics in browser but how to access that from internet?

You would need to forward port 42000 to your machine internal IP on your router, which is a bad idea since it's accessible by anyone and it opens up your machine to attacks. A better option would be to run a VPN server on your machine so you can connect to it from the internet or use RDP software like TeamViewer.

686  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Did GPU prices just double in the last few weeks on: January 21, 2018, 05:18:23 PM
Retail pricing for any cards that can be used for mining has gone up 10-25% compared to last month. Double is only if you don't mind getting screwed or want the cards now with minimal effort.
687  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Claymore's Dual Ethereum AMD+NVIDIA GPU Miner v10.5 (Windows/Linux) on: January 21, 2018, 04:57:05 PM
Run the dual mining calculator on whattomine.com. For me dual mining DCR generates almost 3 DCR a month currently, which is worth more than the total power and pool fees on the rig for the month, but I HODL my DCR.

This belongs in the pools section, not here.

689  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Need Advice: Mining vs Directly Investing on: January 21, 2018, 09:35:29 AM
Mining is more predictable than directly buying coins. You have a direct influence on the outcome and your ongoing costs are essentially the same for any coin. By obtaining units for less than what they are worth, you also have an upper hand when it's time to sell.
690  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: bios flashing amd cards really dangerous? on: January 21, 2018, 08:44:37 AM
Most of those stories also involve downloading some random ROM off the internet and hoping it works for their card. As long as you mod your own Bios and do it correctly, the chance of bricking your card is very low, IMO. I've had very good results using the Polaris Bios Editor v1.62 'one click timing patch' on the original Bios. PBE automatically detects the memory type and v1.6.2 applies the bundled performance straps to the 1750 MHz and up timings. The current v1.6.6 adjusts the 1500 MHz and up timings, but the 1750 MHz straps are more stable for most cards.

I think the fixed share difficulty that Ethermine uses is too low for the 15 second block times since the Byzantium fork, which causes too many stale shares. I switched to Nanopool that uses a higher share difficulty and my estimated hashrate on Nanopool is much closer to my reported hash rate.

692  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: GPU fans after a year of running on: January 21, 2018, 07:26:18 AM
That's why I love the Sapphire dual ball bearing X-Fans on the RX series. One screw to take off the fan for maintenance and cleaning and no wires to run or deal with. Replacements are $12.50 each including shipping from Sapphire and they are super easy to replace.

693  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Check out this proposal mining rig on: January 20, 2018, 04:06:58 PM
You need DDD4 2133 MHz memory with the ASRock H110 Pro BTC+ motherboard. Preferably get one listed on the QVL.

694  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Can someone help tell me how much wattage my rx 570 is using? HWinfo screenshot on: January 20, 2018, 03:19:37 PM
OverDriveNtool will undervolt and that is a good guide to follow but it doesn't mention the power limit. You also can try setting the power target % in OverDriveNtool to 85-90, which should reduce power consumption a bit. The power usage when dual mining also depends on the algorithm and dual mining intensity -dcri setting in Claymore.
695  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Can someone help tell me how much wattage my rx 570 is using? HWinfo screenshot on: January 20, 2018, 02:40:24 PM
The higher GPU power in GPU-Z is the right value, which is the same as the HwInfo GPU chip power + ~50 W for the riser. For a RX 570 without an undervolt, ~150-160 W is about right. You can also lower the power consumption by reducing the power limit to ~-15%, if it's stable.
696  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Can someone help tell me how much wattage my rx 570 is using? HWinfo screenshot on: January 20, 2018, 02:07:22 PM
The GPU core power shown + 40-50 W for the PCI-E slot power on the riser (not shown) is your total power. Your miner gets new work from the pool and you send the completed work back as shares. The lower difficulty the shares, the more frequently your miner completes the work and sends the shares back to the pool. A higher difficulty share takes longer to complete, but is worth more than a lower difficulty share e.g. At diff 4000 shares are worth twice as much as diff 2000 shares.
697  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: ETH Zero mining question on: January 20, 2018, 10:06:01 AM
The snapshot already happened at block 4936270. AFAIK, the block reward distribution is exactly like DASH, 45% to the miners, 45% to the masternodes and 10% to the governance treasury. 10,000 ETZ for a masternode.

698  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: just ordered a 1080ti and had to cancel it because it was the MSI armor ... on: January 20, 2018, 12:41:03 AM
If you want a cool running card look for the tri-fan cards with good heatsinks. Asus STRIX, EVGA FTW3, MSI Gaming X Trio and the Zotac AMP! Extreme. BBT did a review on the Zotac AMP! Exteme 1080 Ti and it hardly ever goes to 60C, even with a +110 power limit.

https://youtu.be/1gk8Dc0o4MA?t=5285

what does these cards go for? I found the msi 1080ti armor for $900 with a free mother board.

also, I have a MSI Z270 PC Mate with a 1070 in there

the guy from the store said that I cant mix and match a 1080ti and a 1070 in the same PC is that true? Something about some SL bridge? Do I need to get a 1070 or did that guy just try to confuse me

Right now, you can probably expect to pay $820 - $870 for a good 1080 Ti, if you can order one from Newegg, Amazon or B&H. Best chance is to sign up for in stock auto-notify emails and monitoring nowinstock.net.

 https://www.nowinstock.net/computers/videocards/nvidia/gtx1080ti

If you are quick, as soon as they come in stock you should be able to get an order in. I just got a MSI Duke OC 1080 Ti from Amazon for $779 + tax.

I have the Zotac 1070, MSI GAMING X 1080 and a MSI Duke 1080 Ti all running on the same rig.

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1733240.msg28442611#msg28442611

As said above, SLI is only for gaming at you shouldn't use it when mining.

The AMP Extreme is inadequately cooled according to GamersNexus.

Not sure why they came to that conclusion. Like I posted in the video review from BBT, the card ran very cool even under a +110 power limit. I have a Zotac AMP! exteme GTX 1070 that has a similar tri-fan and massive heatsink and it's by far the coolest card I own.
They say the core is cool but everything else is much hotter than MSI's Armor and even Founders Edition due to poor design.

Well that would be unfortunate on what otherwise is an excellent performing card.
