The BEST card to get is the one you can (a) find and (b) afford.

If it "runs hot", put it some place cooler and tune the fans a bit.

If you want a cool running card look for the tri-fan cards with good heatsinks. Asus STRIX, EVGA FTW3, MSI Gaming X Trio and the Zotac AMP! Extreme. BBT did a review on the Zotac AMP! Exteme 1080 Ti and it hardly ever goes to 60C, even with a +110 power limit.

The AMP Extreme is inadequately cooled according to GamersNexus.

Not sure why they came to that conclusion. Like I posted in the video review from BBT, the card ran very cool even under a +110 power limit while mining ETH at almost 40 MH/s. I have a Zotac AMP! exteme GTX 1070 that has a similar tri-fan and massive heatsink and it's by far the coolest card I own.

They say the core is cool but everything else is much hotter than MSI's Armor and even Founders Edition due to poor design.

I have two of these exact cards.  The Zotac amp extreme.  I’m mining Zcash at 750h/s each card.  It runs 66c at 55% fans.  The silver power boost PCs on back get hotter than firecracker. I’ve never temped them but did consider sticking a heat sink to them.  Sure would help it a bunch this summer.  Atm it’s running in 42F ambient air.

what does these cards go for? I found the msi 1080ti armor for $900 with a free mother board.

also, I have a MSI Z270 PC Mate with a 1070 in there

the guy from the store said that I cant mix and match a 1080ti and a 1070 in the same PC is that true? Something about some SL bridge? Do I need to get a 1070 or did that guy just try to confuse me

Well that would be unfortunate on what otherwise is an excellent performing card.

Right now, you can probably expect to pay $820 - $870 for a good 1080 Ti, if you can order one from Newegg, Amazon or B&H. Best chance is to sign up for in stock auto-notify emails and monitoring nowinstock.net.

 https://www.nowinstock.net/computers/videocards/nvidia/gtx1080ti

If you are quick, as soon as they come in stock you should be able to get an order in. I just got a MSI Duke OC 1080 Ti from Amazon for $779 + tax.

I have the Zotac 1070, MSI GAMING X 1080 and a MSI Duke 1080 Ti all running on the same rig.

As said above, SLI is only for gaming at you shouldn't use it when mining.

ive got 3 1080ti armors. my whole farm is different 1080tis. whatever i could get my hands on for a good price <800 incl 6.5% tax. they never run about 61C fan 60-70%. i need to work on my external cooling situation, but this is at room temp in the southeast. if somebody is getting in to mining, id say the best card is the card you can find. time = $
