681  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: May 26, 2017, 06:01:25 PM
Having a chance to buy back some of the coins that I sodled in the 1700s would be not so bad for me.
682  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Old addresses not visible on block explorers? on: May 26, 2017, 05:46:56 PM
I have a few old wallets whose addresses I lately cannot find on block explorers like blockchain.info and blockr.io, even if they have a positive balance and several transactions done. Years ago however I could see them on blockchain.info.

Anyone has an explanation?

(edit): fixed: it was because of some extension of my browser like Noscript

Just out of curiosity, how would you do that swap from Bitcoin to Gold without it being a taxable event?

Was just looking into it as a like-kind exchange (IRS section 1031). Doesn't look very promising.

Vaultoro. Maybe Bitgold/Goldmoney too.
684  Bitcoin / Electrum / Cannot open an old wallet. (solved. Never mind) on: May 16, 2017, 02:31:43 PM
Edit: never mind. I fixed it.
685  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Estimate of internet traffic needed to mine on a pool? on: April 13, 2017, 01:44:08 PM
Anyone has some figures about the volume of internet data (dl+ul) needed to mine on a pool per month?
I'm asking because I have an idea to try to mine in a country where power is very cheap but internet very expensive and rationed.

another reason why bitcoin is going to be hugely popular:

IRS Seized Millions of Dollars from Innocent Citizens Because It Was Easier Than Going After Crooks:
The IRS seized millions dollars from innocent individuals and businesses because it was easier than targeting terrorists and drug dealers, a new report from the Treasury Department’s internal watchdog has revealed.

That's just what I was looking for.
Many thanks.
689  Economy / Speculation / BTC-Gold price chart with EMA and SMA? on: April 04, 2017, 12:24:00 PM
I can't find a site with btc-gold price chart with technical indicators. If you know of one please reply. Or if you can set one up, it would be cool.

Since we didnt see any retrace over the weekend, I wouldnt be suprised at all, if bull trap awaited us during tommorrow or day after that. It wouldnt be the first time we decide to take a plunge on monday... and we still havent really retested bottom, did we?

That's quite likely, because I just finished now to buy back some of the coins that I had dumped at a lower price.

Someone hacked major mining operations and their stratum had been changed from antpool, viabtc, btctop to us. Our hashrate doubled instantly

This is serious- centralized mining is a serious vector for attacking the Bitcoin network.

April Fools' Pump
No.
It isnt a pump but it breaks trough the bearish EMA line whats a very bullish sign. I am very happy with this movement. We just got a confirmation that bears are getting rekt and they dont even know it yet.

If BU start their attack cheap coins will be back again.

694  Economy / Speculation / Re: Nights Watch by Afrikoin on: March 31, 2017, 06:07:02 PM
Lots of people expected the price to go back tho the 800 dollar. Those are the people that are now buying every little dip because of FOMO. This results in a strong floor of 1000EUR (1069$).

I will rather leave my cash on the exchange just in case. Nothing is solved, the BU camp threatens 51% attacks, and I don't need to chase the price up at a loss.

Io non ho capito. Puoi spiegarti in lingua italica?

Fa niente.

697  Economy / Speculation / Re: Analysis on: March 31, 2017, 07:28:37 AM
Miners have to fight to preserve their investment.

Unless the BU camp is fighting for something else (like to seize the control of btc or drive it to a dead end), in the interest of someone behind the scene.

all of sudden Litecoin gains 50% value with no news that I'm aware of

for me it looks more like another pump instead a natural movement of people running from Bitcoin to Litecoin.

why would the pumpers keep growing LTC price instead of going to another alt?

no, it's totally natural, because l33tcoin is btc without FUD and tricks.
in fact i've been accumulating some from a while just because of the FUDstorm in btc -and I will hodl them too.
699  Economy / Speculation / Re: Analysis on: March 30, 2017, 04:57:17 PM
You think it would be more profitable than mining ETH?  We have to assume that ETH will continue going up as BTC goes down due to this HF as has been the case.

Likely so: there not so many more gpu miners globally than ethereum miners. Maybe 3-4X. And even at half price btc is still 10X the eth price.
Problem is that it would last some months only, until new asics get produced for the new PoW, and then we would be back at step 1.
700  Economy / Speculation / Re: Analysis on: March 30, 2017, 04:39:15 PM
Lets assume for the sake of argument that those GPUs are mining ETH being highly profitable at the moment and likely rising in price if the HF drama intensifies in an inversely correlated price relationship with Bitcoin.  If the HF happens Bitcoin price will tank hard, that is almost a certainty.  So ETH shoots up, BTC drops down why would those GPU miners jump on a BTC pool if they make more money mining ETH?

it depends: if the PoW of BTC gets changed in order to be GPU-only, then it may be profitable.
Without changing PoW no one will even try to mine btc with a GPU.
