Without giving away too much personal info, I have a chronic disease. I've had this disease for a decade and have had a lot of treatment for it, but it is winning. I likely only have a few months left. And so, I bid you all farewell. I'll be spending as much of my remaining time as possible with my family. In a week or two, once this thread has run its course, I'll ask theymos to lock this account.

May the grace of the Almighty work out a miracle to your health recovery. Just know you're not alone in this, having you in prayers believing something positive is possible for you.

682  Local / Nigeria (Naija) / Re: Crypto Trading Risks and Management Model. on: January 17, 2024, 12:57:44 PM
There is no investment that is totally risk free, likewise there is no investment that feature only gains
An investor is a risk taker, someone that puts his money into a business, an asset or property having the expectation that profit will be made. For It's a move taken under expectation for profit that means in that expectation it is likewise possible that things can go bad and the investment fail to yield added value. That's the risk.

Consequently, I'll advise that potential investors shouldn't adopt the way of thinking I have seen some persons do where they invest into cryptocurrency without having a basic knowledge of anything crypto first, their idea is that they will learn about it after they have invested. It is a wrong attitude, the best way is to learn, gain the knowledge about what you're to invest your money on before you take a decision based on what you have known. What if after investing under crudeness then later learnt about it only to dislike what you have learned (maybe due to its volatile nature) and you regretted wishing you hadn't invested based on that area of risk.

Only invest in what you know.
683  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: cashout or wait till the end? on: January 17, 2024, 09:33:22 AM

cashing out or waiting till the end of game which is more better?
Days before now I read a post about a young man whose phone screen malfunction denied him from cashing out an amount of money from his bet which could have significantly changed his life. Am convinced that if that young man is offered this option to cash out $1Million for a game he played with just $3k+ he won't think twice neither will he hesitate to cash it out.

As gamblers we should be pragmatic in dealing with decisions in our gambling life especially of this nature. What business will you delve into with $3k+ that will give you returns of $1Million within hours? Now that's the mindset that if put in place you will come down with the conviction that cashing out this money is the best option you can give to yourself as a gambler. If I should be waiting for the end of the game to cash out $31million instead of the $1Million in front of me, what then is the assurance that the game is definitely ending in my favour? For this reason, I will just cash out that $1Million in peace.

It is something I won't stop telling people I come across in my daily interaction that trading is not for everyone. If you can't afford to lose money, to be patient, learn and gain a long time experience ( both personal experience and from others in the business before you)  then trading is not for you.

Aside from crypto trading and hodling even in other live investment and businesses it requires a lot of patience to work on your plan and stay put before you start making success, success doesn't happen overnight it's a due process which has to do with patience, knowledge and hard work. There's no short cut to good success except you want to go illegal which eventually you will be caught then lose it all and get back to square one.
685  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Social aspects of online gambling on: January 16, 2024, 10:26:25 PM
A window of socialization in online crypto gambling can be a distraction that can cost gamblers losing extra money from what they are currently losing to the house, the discussions will not flow that with that of on land casinos. Verbal discussions and that of typing a keyboard from different ends are obviously not same, an i can't wrap my head around to figuring out the essence of attaching a socializing section to the online gambling.

If a gambler wanna socialized he gotta go make use of on-land casinos, as the online imposters and mediocres may use the means to starts giving stupid deceptive professional gambling predictions and advise. safer to chat with whom you are seeing face-to-face than some random dude online
686  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Africa Football Discussion || Current Topic: AFCON 2023 on: January 16, 2024, 10:06:57 PM
Ghana also very dissapointing because they had just lost in the first match against Cape Verde with narrow scores
I want you guys to do yourself a favour and visit the Ghanaian part of the internet. What you will see is that they getting the same bashing as the Nigerian Super Eagles from their own fans. Honestly, I am very surprised by the result but this should be a warning to the other teams, Cape Verde is likely to be the dark horse in this competition. In the last few years, they have improving their performance for a while. For now, I am not going to slay the Ghanaians because the Nigerian Super Eagles are worse off.
I was starting to get impressed by your analysis about how the 2024 AFCON is playing out with the tantalizing surprises the smaller teams giving us not until to the end part of the analysis of which i strongly disagree. as it stands in the various groups Nigeria has 1 point after a 1-1 draw in the match against Equatorial Guinea meanwhile Ghana who played against Cape Verde lost in that match which ended 1-2 in favour of Cape Verde. Ghana is without a single point as at the time am writing this whereas Nigeria has 1 points to start with in their group. so i wonder how the Nigeria super eagles are worst of to their West African counterpart Ghana. except you are implying that Zero is now bigger than 1.

Now by this am not implying that am impressed with the result of the match Nigeria against Equatorial Guinea but in contrast to the situation of the black stars of Ghana Nigeria has something tangible to start with and if you check exception Cape verde every other team in that group A is with just 1 point, Ghana -1.

688  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Focus on how much you may lose and not only the potential win. on: January 16, 2024, 03:11:33 PM
There are gamblers that have a bad plan or no plan at all about their life, they gamble with whatever amount they have rather than what they can afford to lose that won't be a worry to them if lost. There's this thought that am sure almost every gambler that have won a bet before must have had. which is the thought of "had I knew this game was going to win  I would have used bigger amount of money to wager".

A situation where the stake for the bet he won was $1k, the next statement you hear is how wish I knew I would have staked with $5k. The question is, the $5k is it an amount of money that you can be comfortable losing or it's just out of greed that you are not contented with the win amount the $1k gave you.

The fact that you won  using $1k today doesn't give assurance that if you had used higher amount or that your next bet that you probably increased the wager in order to win a bigger amount will play. As gamblers let not focus all attention on the amount that we may by chance of luck win but on what we are to lose should we fail to win the bet, in that way we won't spend on gambling above what we can afford to lose.
Stay in check!

OP, I want you to understand that there is a stage a gambler will reach in gambling he or she will no longer think about gambling with what they can afford to lose, there major focus now is to putting more effort in other to win, that's how gamblers think, a gambler believe that if they gamble with a lesser and high stake there is a great possibility of them winning than losing because of the safer odd they selected,
The measure to verify that a gambler is not getting addicted is by how he's very conscious of his bankroll not  gambling beyond what he can afford to lose and if he got to a stage he's no more concerned about how much money he's losing then that's a clear sign of addictive tendency. As a gambler Whether you gamble lesser or higher, let it be that your higher in amount is within the range of what you can afford to lose so it doesn't seem your gambling recklessly.

Quote
most gamblers bet high when the win because their mindset is like, we are using the money we won to go back not our personal money and this will make them take more risk than they do before, it is normal for a gambler to behave because that's their reasoning.
This is a wrong mindset for a gambler to dwell with, winning doesn't occur regularly for before a gambler could have a win he must have made series of losses that with a single win it is like recouping all the losses he has made previously so therefore having the mindset that it is money won and it is okay to dive all in with all of the money it is all a loss loss for you because the money want wasn't one from the pocket of the house but from your previous losses and that is why each win will make from gambling we shouldn't celebrate as if it was money one against the house that is why it is said we cannot beat the house for that's one of the hedge they have over we the gamblers.

690  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: La Liga (Spanish League) Prediction Thread 2023/24 on: January 15, 2024, 01:33:25 PM
Real Madrid must be really delighted with not only winning the Spanish Super Cup title but also Girona's losing two points in the league.  Smiley  Girona were unbelievably horrible against Almeria and I really am curious about the reason why. Because Almeria are literally the worst team in the league with 0 wins and only 6 points.

How can you be this bad against the last team in the standings? Girona aren't one of the big teams in the league normally maybe but we all know how they are playing this season. There must be many people who bet on Girona as it was an easy game but lost at the end.  Sad

Almost everyone is focused on Real Madrid's victory in the Super Cup and forget that Girona only drew yesterday this means that Real Madrid has a good chance of securing first position in the standings Real Madrid will lead by 2 points if they win their next match. We really didn't expect Girona unable to beat Almeria even though Almeria is the weakest team in this league, what was even more surprising was that Almeria was able to control the attack at least 20 shots are recorded in the statistics while Girona only had 5 shots.
The focus of fans on the Real Madrid vs Barcelona game instead of the outcome of Girona's game with Almera is because the former is presupposed to be an El-Classico whenever the two teams meet but the repeated underperformance of Barcelona to series of shameful defeats by Real Madrid since Messi left the club has made the El-Classico not worth the attention it before received.

Girona shocked a lot of gamblers including myself who had confident on the capacity of their current form on handling Almera taking the three points in that game without stress juxtaposing their position on the table with that of Almera. I lost some money on that game betting in favour of Girona to win the match it was so disappointing going through the statistics of the game at full-time Girona. The excuse could have been that they had a 10  man team due to Garcia receiving a red card but that was at the 80th minutes.
691  Economy / Speculation / Re: Will the bitcoin ETF have any impact on the bitcoin price? on: January 15, 2024, 12:18:24 PM
We can see the price crashing since its release.

I would think that it will take a while for the ETF's to have any impact because they were just released.
The probe on the positive effect of bitcoin spot ETF approval towards bitcoin price is borne on too much expectations of investor's about the spot ETF resulting to panic buying on the ground that at approval there is going to be a sudden pump but to the greatest surprise the market had other plans than what we were all expecting. The benefit and impact of the ETF on bitcoin price is something we will see in the future as more new investor troop into the market and not just an immediate impact.
692  Economy / Economics / Re: girl math vs boy math on: January 15, 2024, 11:49:18 AM
The socio-cultural settings of some societies makes the female gender to act this way that they find it difficult neither the necessity to save for investment whereas the male gender is levied and compounded with much expectations and responsibility as a man and it is so unfortunate that base on this almost in all society's we have greater number of entrepreneurs, investors, business tycoons, captains and movers/shakers of industries being male while the female are just invisible to the number. By data statistics  there many self made male millionaires/billionaires in the world to woman, of which for some rich women it was an inherited wealth.

Naturally it is highly presumptive to see women spend so much money and time in enhancing their aesthetic look and feel satisfied at the achievement of such aesthetical feat while a man careless about his facial and skin look, his first and sacrosanct aim is how to double the little sum in his possession to achieve financial success before all else.
693  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Long-term profitable strategies on: January 15, 2024, 07:42:27 AM
There's no long term profitable strategy in gambling, your risk management strategy is the only long term strategy that can be maintained to make sure you don't run into huge losses within a short period. Any grounded gambler will agree that every strategy pulled is just to reduce the possibility of making much losses while increasing the chances of getting a win and not that it's a strategy that's assured of being capable of producing a long term profit. If any strategy is worth taking into consideration in making profit from gambling then risk management is that strategy encompassing every other strategy we can give. In other words, just be a good risk manager and you're good to go.
I agree with what you said that there is no long-term strategy other than risk management. The more you think about the risks, the more you think about not gambling too much because the risk of losing still has to be considered. Maybe some people think thats using a strategy can bring you closer to profit but the fact is that this is not really real, using a strategy does not make us lose quickly, but if we keep doing it every day it will lead to bigger losses.

We must be able to control risky management so that we don't experienced bigger losses, don't just think about being able to set a strategy in gambling because we also have to think about the risks. Any type of gambling has a big risky of losing if we are not able to controls it then we will lose even more, because of that the most important thing in gambling is that we are able to controls risky management such as a strategy for dealing with bigger losses.
Additionally, as a gambler you have a strategy that is working for you the best you can do is to take advantage of the strategy at the moment that it is working for you to gather the profit you can ever make from it and not  to rely on the strategy on the assumption that it's going to work profitably for a long term.

And importantly, know when the strategy has stopped working, be attentive and intelligent to know and accept when the strategy has stopped working otherwise you may end up chasing losses in the course of pushing for profits due to the gamblers' inability to figure out that the strategy has hit rock bottom and no more productive.
694  Economy / Speculation / Re: Can Bitcoin Drop to Zero? on: January 14, 2024, 05:01:18 PM
We are all taking risk it will be right you know that anything could happen at any time, only that there are certain things that their possibility of taking effect is just out of context even though it could still happen.

But for bitcoin to go down zero level there are things and people that must have gone into extinction the entire users (community) of bitcoin, however I will just assume this news to be one of many FUDs we have always encounter in this crypto industry especially on bitcoin.
695  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: What's The Weirdest Alibi Of Gamblers So They Can Continue Gambling? on: January 14, 2024, 03:56:20 PM
I have came across a friend who believe that and I think I was the one who raised the topic, and this get me wondering how can someone believe that gambling every day draws you more closer to winning. It's very more like saying that when you keep gambling you keep losing money and yet you seems not to stop calculating the total amount you have spent so going backwards is like someone who has accepted a defeat so no more going back rather keeps pushing forward.
The saying that "he who fights and run away lives to fight another day" doesn't apply to gamblers or maybe just very a tinny set of gamblers give heed to that statement in their gambling pursuit. Despite making losses they keep fighting when they are supposed to quit and give it a break.

A fellow gambler I met at the betting shop where we both took time to talk once told me that whenever he takes a decision to give it a break there is this inner thought within that whispers to his head asking what if this period you have decided to take a break happens to be the time you have waiting and hoping for to get a big win and straight away without hesitation he will see himself back to gambling but he never gets to make that big win eventually all through, he still continue in making losses as it were before he decided to take a break.

I think if you can be able to take charge of the psychological aspect of gambling we won't be thrilled to succumb into believing in all of this weird alibi's.

696  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Another question? Tell me your average amount per bet and your monthly income? on: January 14, 2024, 02:49:40 PM
Just how I wish all these beautiful well stated and interesting comments as revealed by each gambler on this thread is in reality what and how a good number of gamblers or all of us actually do practice in our daily gambling gambling addiction will be a story of the past, and society's view towards gambling would have taken a favourable and positive dimension.

I don't have a specific/stable income amount I make for the month and since money from most of my sources of income is received weekly I endeavor to making sure I don't exceed using 5% to gamble, sometimes I don't get to use up all the amount in my bankroll as I could just decide to quit for the day if I observe I have lost straight two or thrice in a streak of bets.

Guinea Bissau couldn't reply the goals from the host nation and lost all three points in their first match. Nigeria is up next and although Boniface might be injured, other great players like Osimhen, Iwobi, can still deliver.
Am yet to see the line up, but I am certain that if the team were to experience imbalance, it would come from the midfielders.

I slept off while watching the game. I'll do well to see the highlights and possibly a replay before Nigeria's match. Guinea Bissau were playing terribly except for occasional moments of good game play.

Talking about the Nigeria team, I'd would have loved to see Victor Boniface play after watching him destroy defenses in the Bundesliga for Bayer Leverkusen. I was looking forward to ser him and Victor Oshimen take us to glory but maybe not this time. As for our Midfield, it's an area of concern because no Ndidi means our midfield is pretty much depleted at this point.
in that game between Ivory coast and Guinea Bissau the result was just as expected apart from Ivory having the host team advantage they were a more better team in that game from the start to finish.

In today's game, Nigeria will be meeting Equatorial Guinea in the next few minutes, I am optimistic Nigeria will win this game as they have a good number of attacking players in team with the absence of Boniface not much of a deal except for midfield that will definitely be a backdrop but with a team-playing spirit they can work together to win this game being their first match of the competition.
698  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Italian League Prediction Thread (Serie A) on: January 13, 2024, 04:53:35 PM
Napoli's performance has been very poor this season. The team is now at the ninth position in the points table. And getting 3 points even against weaker teams is now much more difficult for Napoli. Although Salernitana is the last team in the points table, it will be very difficult for Napoli to beat this team.

At the end of the first half, Napoli managed to draw 1-1. Salernitana took the lead with Candreva's goal in the 29th minute. At the end of the first half, Politano equalized the match by scoring from the penalty spot in extra time. , however Napoli's players continued to score. However, breaking down Salernitana's defense is very difficult for Napoli players.

The match hasnt ended yet, still enough time for Napoli to score but yeah Napoli need a miracle to win this game because Salernitana park the bus in front of their goalkeeper and their defenders play well today.
I think the only way for Napoli to score now is from the corner or another penalty.
it was a daunting 90 minutes for Napoli which for many it was as though Napoli were not going to get three points in this game watching how Salernitina a bottom team presently in the league were defending the parallel goal level to at least go home with a 1 point but fortunately for Napoli they fought their way through and were able to penetrate through the defensive  walls of the Salernitina to finally find the ball at the back of their net  in the 90+6 minutes leaving the game to a 2-1 victory. I observed Victor Osimhen absence in this match affect the level of performance of the team as they had to struggle to beat their way against Salernitina. I don't know if other viewers noticed too.

Newcastle - Man City: Such a fun game we have tonight! I love it. Hard to predict who will win, but I have found a very interesting bet. Alexander Isak to score a goal to 3.50 odd. Isak is on fire right now and he is really good and this will be a perfect game for him I think. And also over 2.5 goals for 1.65 odd is also playable

This game am not sure seem hard to predict if we are talking about a straight win prediction. I agree with you that Isak will have a goal to his name in this game but Manchester City are poised and in better stand to win this game. Erling Haaland's absence isn't a big effect right now that Doku and KDB are back to the pitch and will be fixturing in this game tonight. KDB will definitely peer with Foden, Rodri and Doku to steal the three points from Newcastle who are just recovering from their recent dropped form this season.
However we seems to have a nice Saturday in front of us with two very nice games to watch and I am sure you will enjoy them as much as I! Enjoy your Saturday friend.
I only look forward to enjoying this two matches this weekend whatever the outcome might be in favour of my bets predictions or not. Cheers!

On paper, we can definitely say who will be the favorite to win the match. The 3 consecutive defeats suffered by Newcastle make them look worse and maybe in this match they will also continue their losing trend. Although the status of the host, but with their appearance lately makes them unreliable.
I still give them a chance to be able to surprise in this match, but I'm just reasliistic about their condition. Maybe a draw is the best result for them.
Pep Gardiola am not sure is in the business of sharing points with Newcastle united in this match tonight as the opportunity has surfaces for him Gardiola to dethrone Liverpool who are only 5 points away from City  from holding the top position in the EPL as a few of their key players like Mo. Salah and Wataru Endo are away for national assignment to their respective nation's

while on the other hand injury has taken a hit on Alexander-Arnold their vice captain who would have been able to create impact with the team awaiting Salah's return. It is expected that all these will threaten the position of Liverpool and it's therefore an opportunity for Manchester City to sweep all points in all their matches within this period to be able to have a chance of winning the EPL title again, which is why I strongly believe Manchester City will win Newcastle united today's match.

Chelsea - Fulham: Chelsea is far away from where they was before, but the wins they get is often at the Stamford Bridge. I saw you can get 1.65 odd for a single 1 here and I think it's very playable.
Fulham is not bad and also Fulham regards Chelsea as their major rivals so in a "derby" everything can of course happen, but I think in the end Chelsea will stand as a winner in a close game.
This match between Chelsea vs Fulham is an early kick-off which is one factor to put into consideration that it may probably end draw, don't forget that this is the same Fulham team that gave Arsenal a tough time beating arsenal 2:1 in their last game before the FA cup break. And Chelsea team has been inconsistent with wavering performance this season that almost any team in the EPL can be said to have a win against them not mind if they are playing home or away. In my prediction I put this game to be a draw match or in favour of Fulham.
