I agree that seeing people win so much money that they can change their lives does give you a good feeling and makes you happy for that person. And perhaps it brings a hopeful feeling to somebody who also wants to someday live a better life without their current financial problems.

But there is a difference between hoping on a unrealistic event (like winning a lot of money with gambling) and a realistic event (like finding a really high paying job). Unfortunately, I think this mindset is quite prevalent, especially for those who have problems with gambling addiction. It is pretty similar to the narrative that investing in crypto is going to magically make you a millionaire, without telling the risk or people just ignore it because they believe they are the chosen one. It is quite hard to prevent it since some people really want to feel special.
