I absolutely agree with you. In most countries you will not buy real estate for less than 100k USD. But there are places where you can buy a flat for around $50k, and I mean in cities. In rural areas the prices are lower, and you can buy real estate there too. I wouldn't advise doing that, though. It's not a rare case when "cheap" real estate in rural area costs even cheaper 10 years later.
I understand your point. I know that it varies from country to country. As you may know, I live in a 3rd world country, yet you won't be able to buy land that cheap even on the rural side. This is the reason I cannot imagine a real estate business under a million dollars. I live in a village where you have to spend at least USD 20K to buy the land where you can start building your dream house. Imagine the cost of the building, then. Bangladesh is considered as one of the cheapest countries yet it's not that much cheap to be honest. |

Because like some people here, I also have children but I don't see any real reason or benefit in teaching my children about bitcoin. I'm not against bitcoin education for anyone, but at least we need the right audience, the right age. Instead of teaching randomly and without planning. I am not sure If I have posted this or if I have seen someone suggest that it's better to teach your children about privacy and security rather than teaching Bitcoin. They should know why privacy is essential for them, to. Also, they should understand why security is another important thing. Once you see your child care about their privacy, then you can introduce them to Bitcoin! Instead of forcing them to learn, you are giving them a solution when they are looking for one. But I think it is far beyond the scope of it to do a KYC/AML (anti merit laundering) on every user I merit. True. It's not possible to check everyone before you merit. But it would be great if you could check members from our local thread. I understand it will be difficult for you. But it's up to you. No problem if you can't because it's not your problem. I guess, in case of merit abuse, there are other instruments (flags, trust) to address your rightful concern.
Even a merit abuser or a spammer can write good posts, after all. Unfortunately, the flag and trust system is used to handle trading-related issues. I am unsure if tagging them for merit abuse would be a good idea. But as you can see, I am not even close to DT. So, my feedback won't be visible by default. The problem is they barely care what I am saying because I am just an average Joe. |

Another thing, if people are spamming nonsense copy/paste news and are getting merit for it, you may wanna warn those meriting them that they are not doing any favor to your local thread as that will only make them spam even more of the same stuff.
I did what I could do at this moment. I have warned those members doing these things, but I don't know if it would work. It does not matter if I stop meriting them or not. They will eventually manage to lure some merit from merit sources who review local thread posts because they cannot evaluate them. And these merits get circulated in a closed circle. I chatted with one of the merit sources, and he promised to check before reviewing those user's posts. I wanted to fix the problems within our local thread, and I hope they will understand. Imagine you made a deposit to a mixer and cannot bump your transaction fees for some reason. At the same time, the mixer's deposit address won't be valid after 24 hours. This will be the worst situation for anyone.
At least you will not lose your coins, but you need to wait until few days or even a weak to be confirmed. Thanks for the effort you are giving to help everyone. Once, I also got some help from this thread. Today, I am here to ask you something. In the last few months, we have noticed very unusual merit activity in our local (Bengali) thread members. Some other local members and I believe there are also massive alt firms and merit abuse. I would ask you to kindly check their merit history (From where they received the merit and where they spent it) and the circulation. Some collect merits from your and Hugeblack's thread, and the circulation is too low. Thank you.
