681  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Premier League Prediction Thread 2023/2024 on: December 10, 2023, 02:21:36 PM
Despite losing, Arsenal actually played quite well and had several good chances which could have been goals. It's just that Emiliano Martinez played very impressively and managed to thwart several opportunities that Arsenal had. This is certainly a heavy blow for Arsenal, though they dominated the game and had more chances than Aston Villa, but that still doesn't guarantee that they won't lose to their opponents because in football anything can happen.
Ben White gave John McGinn enough time to hold the ball and turn before he struck to get the only goal of the game. This was a huge carelessness on the side of the Arsenal defender. Arsenal controlled the game but they were also wasteful. Martin Odegaard had two clear-cut chances that would have sealed Arsenal's victory but he wasted them. The best players in the Arsenal side were Gabriel Jesus and Bukayo Saka who constantly put the Aston Villa defence under pressure all through their stay on the pitch.

Aston Villa is gradually becoming a force in the EPL under Unai Emery. The club has moved to third position and will maintain the position regardless of the outcome of the Manchester United and Luton Town game, but if the games end in a draw like it is now, Aston Villa will be four points ahead of the current EPL champions.

683  Other / Off-topic / Re: Making a New Year resolution plan is Important. on: December 09, 2023, 12:53:41 PM
There are some plans, goals, and desires that some of us could not archive this year, and the year is coming to an end. We have to try again next year, and as such, it is very important to make new-year resolution plans.

Thanks for reading. Drop your opinion.
We live in an unpredictable world where nothing is certain. I had so many plans for this year but most of them don't come to pass not because of my fault but due to unpredictable events. I never knew that my country's currency would lose close to fifty per cent of its value. I also didn't foresee that the government would stop subsidising some important products like petroleum. All these unpleasant economic events affected my plans negatively and it became difficult to meet some of them. However, I am pleased with the little I achieved.

I still have my projections for next year and I am very hopeful that my plans will all be executed. Having a New Year resolution is fine but we must focus more on implementing our plans. We have to avoid procrastination to ensure that we follow the plans. Breaking down our yearly plan into daily, weekly and monthly tasks will also be good. We should have a weekly and monthly plan and our daily activities should be focused on achieving them.

Next year, I am not going to push myself too hard like this year. I will give more time to my health, family and other relationships. I might even consider going on my first vacation and visiting another country. Life is not all about making money, we need to take good care of ourselves.
684  Other / Off-topic / Re: Do you regret also for ever knowing about gambling? on: December 09, 2023, 11:35:06 AM
So I was wondering if some folks here too feel the same way or it was just a matter of grudge and hatred for the particular fellow to stir up such arguement.
Gambling is for mature minds and not for children. We should always take responsibility for our actions and don't blame others for our actions. We might indeed regret our past lives but since we cannot change it we don't have to bother about them. I have no regret about my gambling life because it has not affected me negatively. I have enjoyed gambling and it has not affected me negatively. I still have a good relationship with my mentor in gambling because he taught me how to gamble responsibly and not to gamble what I cannot afford to lose. I don't have any regrets because I have lost and also benefited from gambling.
685  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: French Soccer League Predictions and Discussion Thread (Ligue 1) on: December 09, 2023, 11:06:52 AM
Aubameyang wasn't comfortable with Arsenal after a point because of starting to have personal issues with the team. He couldn't even find proper chances to play at Chelsea. He really did the right thing by leaving Chelsea at the earliest opportunity. Because he didn't have any future left there as he was just losing match fitness.
Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang best time was in Arsenal Borussia Dortmund where he scored 92 and 141 goals respectively. He suffered setbacks in Barcelona and Chelsea because he couldn't replicate his forms in these clubs. But it seems he is regaining his forms in Olympique de Marseille where Gennaro Gattuso is building a team that is pushing to get to the top. He scored a goal and gave two assists in their recent win against Olympique de Lyonnais. We can't expect much from a 34-year-old striker that is going close to his retirement age, we will have to appreciate every little he makes.

When it comes to Tuchel topic it is definitely the owner's fault. Why would you part ways with the best manager you have had recently? Just because of having other issues he wanted to sack him.
Todd Boehly said Thomas Tuchel's views are inconsistent with the ideology of the new management. The new owner felt that the club needed to be overhauled to bring in the needed positive change. But I know he would regret his actions because his decision has caused more harm to the club. The club that was built by Roman Abramovich for many years was gradually been destroyed by poor management.
686  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Looking forward to invest on: December 09, 2023, 10:10:32 AM
I want to make an investment with just $50 as a beginner i don't know which coin am i to start with but i heard been hearing a lot of people both physically and on social networks saying incredible things about (BTC), that is the best. please i need your assistance ??
One mistake that most people make is that they want to invest in Bitcoin when the price starts appreciating. They are attracted by the current hype and attention Bitcoin is currently enjoying, so they feel they could invest and make a profit immediately. But they fail to understand that the best time to buy and keep Bitcoin is during bear season. They don't know that Bitcoin is a long-term investment and shouldn't be seen as a get-rich-quick scheme.

It is good to start with what you have but $50 will not yield much profit for you. I will suggest you seek other sources of income so that you could have more money to buy Bitcoin. If you can buy the coin monthly, you might end up investing a substantial amount.
687  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: The message remains consistent from January to December on: December 07, 2023, 06:32:20 AM
For some people who understand the risks it's a message while who are having blind trust on these CEX it's just a normal post so different perspectives but once you get into that situation and even loose few bucks you will realize the true meaning of not your keys not your coins. The best solution is to keep your coins under your possession only with seeds backup safely at secure place but if you are seeing exchange safe then go read the market news where they are going bankrupt and hacking cases are exposed.
Many people are attracted to these exchanges by bonuses and several enticing benefits that they promise. They fail to understand that these platforms are not safe but are just using these benefits to lure unsuspected investors. The advice of keeping funds in noncustodial wallets will be valid till the end of time. Not your keys, not your coins might sound simple but it is a powerful message that should be practiced judiciously.

Leaving asset on exchange is like keeping money in the bank, although in the bank it's more safer because if anything happens to your money the bank will take responsibility for it but if I keep my coin on crypto exchange and the exchange gets hacked, there's nothing I can do to get back my money. Is there any authority that are in charge to make those hacked exchange resend customers lost asset?
Many conventional banks are insured by Deposit insurance so depositors can get a refund of their deposit if the bank goes bankrupt. The government also ensure that banks comply with regulatory laws and that their accounts always go through periodic audits. But all these measures have not also stopped banks from going down the drain. Exchanges are worst and should be avoided. Keeping huge funds in exchanges is like leaving your funds in an unregulated bank. Most of the audit reports they present are not verifiable and they also engage in sharp business practices. Except hacked funds are traced and recovered depositors in exchanges will likely never get their money back.
688  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Sympathetic gamblers looses itself on: December 07, 2023, 05:39:27 AM
I have seen some facial expression gamblers that I am emotionally touched about and feels they have loosed more than they can handle and feels they deserves an condolence winning. While I empathic with him his amount of lost, I am then to consoling myself that someone on here has lost more than I do.

This is exactly how some gamblers runs out of gambling budgets and goes bankrupt because they fails to figure what their net worth or incomes value is.

They are basically to believe one who lost $20 has lost more to them who looses $10.
You don't have to compare yourself with someone else because our financial strength is not the same. Some people earn more than you so comparing yourself with them might make you go bankrupt. Some people's budget for gambling is more than my salary. I don't take solace in someone else loss because I don't know how much they earn or are worth.

Don’t be too caught up with some of the losses you see people take online. Many of those gamblers are paid to do what they do and their emotions aren’t always genuine. The ones that are and I’m sure there are plenty of them are likely heartbreaking to see, but that’s why people stream their gambling efforts, so they can receive gifts from those that watch.
I am trying to figure out whether people will be paid to publish their losses online. Was it to console people who have lost that they are not alone? Just this year many people have come on social media to ask for support after they lost funds that were meant for important things. Two students gambled and lost school fees and another used the fund that was budgeted for his wedding for gambling. Some of them got public backlash and sympathy, one of the students got a gift of school fees from a good Samaritan who won big in gambling.

For Europe is only solution. Stop war build back the gas pipelines and cheap oil from russia and food to people.
On going gaza Israel situation is not good either.
The war in Russia is now complicated and it will be difficult to stop now. Europe might not also reconsider building back its reliance on Russia for oil and gas because they have built connections with other oil-producing nations. However, stopping the war in Ukraine will lead to a reduction in the prices of agricultural products which will be a good relief for most nations, especially poor countries.

It is estimated that only about 4.2% of the world's population of 7.95 billion owns cryptocurrencies. This means that people still prefer fiat and a loyal to centralised platforms. Maybe the reason might be because of poverty, ignorance, and unfavorable government policies.
690  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Looking to sell a computer to raise money to invest in Bitcoin. on: December 07, 2023, 04:25:47 AM
I'm 19 years old, living in Korea, and I'm thinking of selling a computer to raise money to invest in bitcoin. I think I can sell it for about $600. I get about $100 a month as an allowance from my father. $100 is only for personal use, not for living expenses. I've been using these $100s to buy bitcoin for a few months now. It's ridiculously small money, but I believe it could be quite a lot of money if I keep saving it steadily. Is selling a computer the right decision?
I assume that the desire to sell your computer to invest in Bitcoin is propelled by FOMO. Computers have become an essential need especially if you are active in the crypto space or deal with online platforms. If you have an alternative computer and don't need the one you want to sell, then it's not a bad idea. But selling the only computer you have to buy Bitcoin might not be a good decision because you could use the computer to make money from online job platforms and the returns could be invested in Bitcoin. You don't have to be in haste to invest because Bitcoin will always create opportunities for people to invest.

Don't also assume that buying $100 worth of Bitcoin every month is small money because millions of people earn less than that amount per month. I suggest you keep on buying using your DCA pattern and focus on keeping it for a long time. You will be surprised how much you have invested and gained in a few years.
691  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: FIFA World Cup 2026 :Canada/Mexico/United States: Discussion Thread on: December 07, 2023, 04:00:35 AM
News about Messi, Argentina, and Lionel Scaloni is not good and it seems Lionel Scaloni wants to leave the team, I remember in the Qatar World Cup when Argentina won the title, Scaloni said he wanted to even use Messo in the next World Cup in 2026. But it seems the relationship between Messi and Lionel Scaloni is not good and Lionel Scaloni is leaving the team because of that.

https://theathletic.com/5114467/2023/12/05/lionel-scaloni-argentina-coach/
The strained relationship between Lionel Messi and Lionel Scaloni is just one of the few reasons why the World Cup-winning coach wants to leave the Argentine national team. There are reports that Scolani was not pleased with the way Messi led other players to the dressing room without consulting the coach or other technical staff during the violence-filled match against Brazil. The coach felt he should have been consulted before Messi took such a decision. So this might confirm that there might be a sort of power tussle between the coach and the world's best player.

Scolani's decision might also be connected to the maltreatment he has been receiving from Argentina Football Association (AFA). His World Cup bonuses have been delayed even after winning and the association was also wasted time before they extended his contract. There are also reports that the AFA president Claudio Tapia is not pleased with Scolani because he refused to use the national team's platform to support a presidential candidate that the FA chief wanted to win the elections.

It is also possible that the Argentine coach has started receiving offers from top European clubs. The pay and the work conditions of these clubs will be better than coaching the  Albiceleste. There are reports that he might be heading to Spain where he has some experience where he worked as an assistant and youth team coach in Racing Santander and Mallorca. But for me, I think he should leave when the ovation is loudest.
692  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: What according to you should be the age to retire from gambling ? on: December 06, 2023, 11:32:12 AM
Many believe that gambling is for young people online as they need thrill and and fun. But I think that even old people can enjoy gambling. There should be any age to retire from gambling at all. One can do this activity and leisure time and thus it does not affect retirement related activities also.

Nothing concern gambling with age, the majority of people become addicted to gambling when they get older. I think it is terrible to see people gamble when they are elderly, it doesn't make sense. If someone wants to stop gambling forever, the best age I can see to do so is when they are between the ages of thirty and forty before it should become late. Because that is best time we should be spending with our family, not worrying about gambling. Gambling is still different in old age. If you are wealthy and you still choose to gamble with your own money, no one will think less of you because they will assume you are just having fun. However, if you are poor still continue to gamble when you are older, that is the worst thing you could have done when you were younger. If at all possible, some people should stop gamble at their young age, because it can get more difficult for them as they get older.
It seems you are misusing the two concepts: gambling and gambling addiction. The question OP asked was at what age would be appropriate for one to stop gambling and not when one would stop gambling addiction. Anyone who is suffering from gambling addiction. Should control his gambling activities through having a gambling budget and control the drive to gamble. They can seek help from family, friends or even therapists if need be.

When it comes to retiring from gambling, I am not sure there is any general age to quit gambling. There is usually a minimum age for gamblers but I have never seen a maximum age. Retirees will have more time and resources to gamble more. As much as I am healthy and still have some cash to spare, gambling for me is a lifelong journey. It is not just for the money but for the fun it brings to many. When all your children are grown up and the house has become boring, gambling might be a good source of entertainment.
693  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: FIFA World Cup 2026 :Canada/Mexico/United States: Discussion Thread on: December 06, 2023, 10:30:49 AM
Di Maria and Leo Messi are the key players in the current champion Argentina team. No one can ever take their place. Especially the way Messi has performed on the field so far, if we see Argentina's qualifiers are playing very well, so maybe we can see Messi in the 2026 World Cup. Argentina's team management will definitely ask Messi to play in the 2026 World Cup. Messi can tell himself how fit he will be physically. Of course we can see Leo Messi in 2026 World Cup if he wants. After the upcoming Copa America, maybe we will have a clear understanding of whether Leo Messi will actually play in the 2026 World Cup.
Argentina will be aiming to defend the Copa América trophy after winning the 2021 edition. We also know that Lionel Messi will lead the Argentine national team because he is still actively engaged in national football. Argentine national team coach Lionel Scaloni made it clear after the World Cup that the door of the national team will always be opened to Messi and that he will always be welcomed to the team. Messi has not also misused this opportunity because he has been hardworking and continued to contribute positively to the Argentine national team. We saw his outstanding performance and influence in some of the recently played World Cup qualifiers, I do not doubt that he will keep improving. However, I think the 2026 FIFA World Cup in Canada, Mexico and the United States might be his last game for the national team.

Well.. Argentina is a team with enough player depth. When Diego Maradona retired, a lot of people were saying that no one will be able to replace him. But then, Gabriel Batistuta and Ariel Ortega did that in the next world cup. After Batistuta, it was the turn of Hernán Crespo, Gonzalo Higuaín and Sergio Agüero. And now it is the turn of Lionel Messi, Ángel Di María and Nicolás Otamendi. Once these players retire, someone else will take their place. And Argentina do have quality youngsters such as Julián Álvarez and Lautaro Martínez.
But the greatest of them all is Lionel Messi. He was instrumental in most of the recent successes that the Argentine national team has enjoyed. Argentina and Brazil produce some of the best players in the world. But sadly only a few of them have been fortunate enough to win the Ballon d'Or.
694  Local / Nigeria (Naija) / Re: AVERAGE JOE, DO YOU WANT IN BITCOIN DURING THE CURRENT BULL MARKET? [READ THIS] on: December 06, 2023, 09:54:59 AM
But for me the best resource is this community, you can even just browse the forum without creating any account (if you don't want to), and just traverse the multitude of topics about everything. Of course, it's better if you can create a account and communicate and ask if you have doubts and questions.
I am not also against reading books from some authors but we have to do that with upmost care and diligence. There are many misinformation around the crypto space that can be misleading. I also prefer to rely more on bitcointalk because it is a community with indepth knowledge about Bitcoin and some members have been around the ecosystem for a very long time. Another benefit is that members have the privilege of asking questions and getting relevant answers from experienced members. However the book contains some relevant information that can educate people in the Industry.
695  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: UEFA Champions League 2023/24 Season on: December 06, 2023, 09:26:22 AM
This is going to be a very difficult game because between the both teams.Manchester United have missed the opportunity of qualifying for the next stage of the competition, and I don't think there is anything they could do about it.They cannot win Bayern at Old Trafford no matter how they try, they might get a goal or two,but winning Bayern is going to be very difficult for them.
In football nothing is impossible so we cannot rule that Manchester United will not qualify for the next round because we think that they cannot defeat Bayern Munich. No club is undefeatable, the Red Devils could put up a surprise and win the game. And if the game between Copenhagen and Galatasaray ends in a draw, Manchester United have automatically qualified. We have seen this miracles happen again and again in football so the players and fans should be hopeful.

Quote
It is bad that Ten Hag cannot make Man u qualify from the group stage even when we thought they were going to qualify with Bayern from that group, but they dissappointed their fans and their supporters, maybe Ten Hag  will need to improve his squad during the January transfer window to be able to compete for the competition next season,if they qualify.
Many sports analysts and fans saw Bayern Munich and Manchester United as favorites to qualify for the next round, sadly the perceived underdogs like Copenhagen and Galatasaray now has greater chance than one of the best sides in European football. It will be disappointing to see them knocked out of all European competitions, maybe moving to the Europa league will be a suitable consolation.
696  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: El Salvador has become the first country to make #Bitcoin legal tender! 🇸🇻 on: December 06, 2023, 07:27:14 AM
As a leader, it's not a must that you should always follow the people's directives because sometimes they may be misleading as well, being a leader, you're saddled with the responsibility of taking an effective decision on the country's best of interest because you're being seen as someone who is best fit in leading the people and in taking a frontline decision that others will benefit from, this are the kind of traits El-Savador's president, Nayib Bukele is very good at.
I like your love and zeal for the success of Bitcoin in El Salvador and Bukele but a democratically elected government is accountable to the people and should listen to their yearnings. In the case of Bukele investing in Bitcoin, he received the support of the lawmakers and the legislature represented the people. Which means he received the support of the people before he invested in the Bitcoinspace. The protest and opposition that was widely publicized were sponsored by some anti-bitcoin forces that wanted to frustrate the uncommon decision by the president because the move will not benefit them..

Quote
Even if the people among others that have insulted him in the past are unwilling to make an apology, doing
such or not doing so does not make him loose what he has acquired as being a leader, we should expect critics from everywhere being in a leadership position, those are the pillars that makes one strong and determined for pursuing after excellence, because they are just for a short time compared to where we are going with the task ahead.
We live in a world where pride and arrogance have filled the hearts of people. In an ideal world, Bukele deserves an apology from people who sponsored and started a media war against him. They should acknowledge that they were wrong and tender an unreserved apology. But who cares if they don't, the young president is focused on staking more Bitcoin and plans to hodl it for a longer period.
697  Economy / Economics / Re: Do brands that take sides on divisive issues lose market share? on: December 05, 2023, 08:18:13 AM
Due to this, establishments should be very guarded in their utterance, they might be right or wrong, but they should know that if they vex their potential customers and partners, they could ruin the business. And of course, it's even easier to ruin small businesses, while some has been burnt down by extremist in the past. Caution is always needed unless your view aligns with that of the majority.
Many customers might boycott a brand because of its stance on some societal issues but more customers that appreciate the firm's decision will support the firm. There will always be two groups which are those who support and another who oppose the view or ideology. Anti-Semitism is gradually rising globally because of the war in Palestine and some brands might also take advantage of this to gain more market share. I am sure businesses in the Middle East, South Africa, Russia, etc will benefit from supporting antisemitism. Elon Musk might have peddled down on his views because almost all his business is located in the US and the government is the main supporter of Israel.

Your points are valid @EarnOnVictor that business owners should separate personal beliefs from their business if they want the business to keep flourishing. They should ensure that their comments align with the popular beliefs of their customer base or they risk losing a large chunk of customers.

You can see what happened to Ye when he made anti-Semitic remarks.
Ye might have lost some support in the West but it seems he is building connections in the Middle East where his views are welcomed.  Who knows, his antisemitism might be a business strategy to penetrate the Arabian market. Just guessing.
698  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Using AI for betting predictions on: December 05, 2023, 06:57:57 AM
To an extent, I believe the AI does better analysis than an individual can actually cover but the limitations that stops its perfection in prediction is that it only does its analysis from data feeds. So, if there is a new data generated and yet to be fed to an AI, it is obvious the AI will neglect it when giving predictions and that can render its analysis obsolete or invalid.
One advantage of AI predictions is that these tools are fast and accurate. They can easily gather information about each club and do a proper analysis which will lead to accurate predictions within a short period. So it could be a good tool for people who have limited time to analyse games and make predictions. But like others have pointed out, it has its pitfalls which include technical hitches. It is not a totally bad idea but we shouldn't depend on them. There is a place for human judgment in gambling. I know we all target to make a profit in gambling but there is an uncommon joy you get when you analyse the game by yourself and make predictions. And when it comes to sports bets, fans of a particular team don't need AI to make predictions because they will always place bets on their favourite club.
699  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Italian League Prediction Thread (Serie A) on: December 05, 2023, 05:53:57 AM
I had no doubts about Inter`s victory, unfortunately Napoli have lost a lot of strength. Clearly I didn`t expect such a bad score for Napoli, 3 - 0 means that you were totally dominated.
Unfortunately it happens when there is a lot of difference between the teams.

This is a sad and struggling period for Napoli and their supporters, not witnessing good results in matches ruined everything for them. The difference between Napoli and Inter Milan diggers interms of performance this season. Simeone Inzaghi ensure he gets the best performance from his players and their ability to stay consistent in matches have also done a great push for the club to be ranking currently first on the table this season. I wasn't surprised to see the scoresheet, Napoli got humiliated with scores of 3 nil against Inter Milan last weekend.
The first half of that game didn't show that Napoli would lose the game. They defended and attacked effectively and Inter was not given much chance to enjoy freedom. Napoli even had two goal attempts that were hampered by the goalpost and the Inter goalkeeper Yann Sommer. But the second became a disaster for the home team. They struggled to create chance and Victor Osimhen was heavily marked that he couldn't receive passes and was also restricted from making his masterclass runs.

Napoli is in a tight situation currently. They are drifting below last season's performance and it is becoming clear that they might not be able to defend the Seria A title. They are not also sure of moving to the next round of the Champions League. Walter Mazzarri has so much work to do especially in the defence, the attack also needs to be up and doing.
700  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Loaning money for gambling sometimes not bad but… on: December 05, 2023, 05:40:15 AM

PS: I’m not telling that everyone should loan and gamble just to follow my step. I’m just sharing that sometimes loan money that use to gamble have good result. FYI, I have money on fiat to cover the loan immediately in case I lose everything. DON’T LOAN MONEY IF YOU CAN’T AFFORD TO PAY IT BEFORE THE DUE DATE.
The beautiful thing about your story or experience was that you balanced it up. Many people take loans to gamble and just like you, they are lucky to win and make money from it. Others have also failed to win and ended up in debt. But your case is quite different because you have the money to repay the loan in case you lose the bet. Some people don't have such backup so they end up frustrated and sometimes depressed.

However, this behaviour of borrowing to fund gambling shouldn't be consistent because it could lead to addiction and debt. Occasionally one can decide to take loans to fund a gambling budget but there should be some restraints. I am also sceptical about spreading this kind of information because gamble newbies might misunderstand it which could affect their finances negatively. These new gamblers might not be able to control this kind of behaviour and end up incurring large debt because of gambling. However, congratulations on your win.
