681  Economy / Economics / Re: Why the duck is btc at 13.526,98 USD ? on: October 31, 2020, 07:44:26 PM
Because it is nothing like we have seen before. It is normal to feel frustrated when you don't understand something. We still don't have a solid framework to analyse the intrinsic value of Bitcoin. We can find out the current valuation of traditional stocks with many different methods based on their earnings and assets. Bitcoin price is mainly speculative and driven by supply & demand like any other marketable thing in the world. Keep in mind that BTC is very scarce with a limited supply of 21M from which 4M (probably more) is lost.

When big companies are taking positions and PayPal announcing integration with cryptocurrencies, what can you expect? The signals are in the market.

With the tremendous respect I have for Warren Buffett, he is not God. He CAN make mistakes and his at an age when it is much easier to stick with the old ways.
682  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: During Bitcoin Block Halving Cryptocurrency Prices are expected to be.. on: October 31, 2020, 07:31:44 PM
How did you end up with these numbers? There are still around 3 years and a half 'till the next Bitcoin block reward halving. That's plenty of time in which many things can happen. I expect a lot of institutional players to on-board the industry so we might have a very different play than the one in 2017.

Altcoins have taken some serious injury recently, curious to see when they make a rebound. Hopefully soon   Cheesy
683  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Whale transfers $1 billion in bitcoin and pays $3.54 in fees? on: October 31, 2020, 07:14:18 PM
I don’t need to tell you’ll how painful it is to see such high fees for transferring our bitcoins, and on top of that the number of unconfirmed transactions has also gone up.

While we are struggling with the fees, this Bitcoin whale managed to transfer $1 billion in bitcoins, and he only paid a measly fee of $3.54, and therefore I’m curious to know why wasn’t he also subjected to the high fees that we’re currently being forced to pay?.

When you hold such incredible amounts you can use a tx accelerator for sure or talk to a friend at a mining pool to include the tx in the batch.
Anyway this transaction should bring some publicity to Bitcoin. Paying a coffee worth to transfer 1 billion dollar worth is cool.
684  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: American election is nothing to do with BTC on: October 31, 2020, 06:18:10 PM
Not directly towards Bitcoin's price. But if I read the previous articles circulating online, Trump has plans of banning use of cryptos in U. S. and if that's the case and it happen that more countries did the same thing, there will be a negative aftermath of such action in the price of Bitcoin because many people would be prohibited to make use of the opportunity of it to be profitable. That would be another 'possibility' but not until it became a reality, we will surely be the first ones to know. And if the other one supports this technology, then changes will also be observed and let us hope that it would be a better situation.

I don't think Trump is going to ban Bitcoins, but everything is possible. I mean the financial infrastructure for Bitcoin is being built with the CME offering, we see USA companies taking positions and more merchants accepting it as a means of payment.

I have to research what you said about the articles circulating online. I am not aware of Trump saying that crypto banning is in his plans.
685  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: American election is nothing to do with BTC on: October 31, 2020, 03:19:24 PM
I am not really up-to-date with the plans of the two candidates, but in the short-term American elections shouldn't have any direct impact on Bitcoin price.

On the other hand, any change in the politics should produce a smaller or bigger shock in the stock market, positive or negative.
686  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: While we're on Halloween, Remember this date! on: October 31, 2020, 01:30:47 PM
I must agree with @ChrisBarth here. It is unlikely that holidays have been the impediment for immediate launch of the Bitcoin network. This wasn't a company or a short-term project, but a VISION to change the way we trade.

Nice drawing, though. I'm glad to see people remembering this day as more than the Halloween. I'm guilty of not remembering this day, but I might re-read the whitepaper to celebrate.  Grin
687  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Can i Link Crypto to Construction Business on: October 31, 2020, 06:29:55 AM
If you want to tokenize your construction (probably residential) it's going to be a little bit complicated. First you need to decide clearly what each token represents then go talk to a specialized lawyer who actually knows something about cryptocurrencies (that is rare, at least in my country). Unfortunately we still don't have a legal framework for asset tokenization and it might be a harsh road, but if you are really passionate and eager to spread the crypto movement, I encourage you to do so.
688  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: $100 USD vs $10,000 USD Trading Capital on: October 30, 2020, 08:19:29 PM
A professional trader will make money whether he has a small account or a big account. With the leverage available in the markets nowadays you can start trading with extremely low amounts. Although you cannot make a living with a $100 account in most countries, it is CERTAINLY a better start for beginners to refine their skills before going into a higher tier.

If you trade with a $10,000 account it does not mean the risk is higher. It all depends on a person's position sizing and net worth. A $1000 position represents a 1% risk for a $100,000 account and 50% for a $2000 account. I hope I made myself understood.
689  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Halloween inspired poll –would your Bitcoins get passed on if you suddenly died? on: October 30, 2020, 07:46:06 PM
The percentage is lower than 10% for me. It would be a great challenge for Sherlock Holmes himself to find the way to access my crypto belongings. This is a question we should all ponder about.

I wonder how many BTC could be forever lost in case of a war or a worldwide calamity. We should all take precautions for worst-case scenarios. You never know what awaits you at the corner of the street...
690  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Follow your mind! on: October 29, 2020, 06:46:48 PM
Borrowing money to invest is how you leverage your financial power. Borrowing is an investment professional's best friend. It is imperative to have a thorough risk management strategy, though or this "superpower" could transform into a "handicap".

I think point 2 and 3 from your list are the worst. Greed can make someone lose his mind. I know from personal experience. Always have a goal and KEEP YOUR EMOTIONS IN CHECK. I can't emphasize this enough.
691  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Missed the golden opportunity, now what?? on: October 29, 2020, 04:35:37 PM
You don't need to seize the whole "gold mine" to become rich. There are nuggets spread in the river as well. Just do your dilligence thoroughly and have a strategy for investing/trading, whatever you want to do in the Bitcoin market. If you ask me we could still jump 100x from the actual price point. It is just a matter of how you look at the market. Is $15000 expensive compared to a few cents - definitely, but is $15,000 dirt cheap compared to $1,000,000? - Hell yeah, all day long. Wink
692  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Values of Bitcoin & Altcoin are correlated on: October 26, 2020, 06:12:22 PM
It is common knowledge that altcoins are somehow connected to Bitcoin as they both enter in the category of cryptocurrencies. However I don't think that altcoins price is correlated to Bitcoin's. What I've observed is that when Bitcoin is consolidating people tend to put some of their holdings into altcoins so they can make an extra profit on the side. On the other side, if you're looking at altcoin prices denominated in USD some of them will not dump so much when Bitcoin is on a surge, maybe even increase in value while their satoshi-price stays constant.
693  Economy / Services / Re: [for hire] looking for text writers / designers on: October 26, 2020, 04:02:01 PM
Hi! Just a little heads-up: you should change the title of the thread to "[Hiring]" - not "for hire". Otherwise people might not open your thread.

What subject are you looking for? I suppose it is gambling-related?
694  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Regulation possible? Regulation Inevitable? on: October 26, 2020, 03:38:32 PM
I would disagree with your thinking, although 10 years may seem like a long time, look 10 years back and look at where BTC is today - research says no more than 1% of the total human population has anything to do with Bitcoin. Despite the great media pumping that was created during 2017, the average person's knowledge of Bitcoin today is very modest, and in most cases completely misinterpreted. It is likely that things will develop much faster in the next 10 years, but in my opinion it is not realistic to expect that everyone will know about BTC even then - and I do not want to speculate how many people will use it, it is impossible to predict.

I view things a little bit differently. There are a lot more market participants, some of them are big sharks. 10 years ago there were just the miners and a bunch of crypto enthusiasts. Now we see big companies and funds taking considerable positions in the market. Moreover we see PayPal and lower tier payment processors making encouraging moves in regard to cryptocurrencies.

In terms of "average joe" adoption the progress is not very fast, but PROGRESS is there. I think 10 years in the Information Age is enough for Bitcoin to become mainstream.
695  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / Re: Best places for Crypto Traders on: October 26, 2020, 10:32:04 AM
It's healthy for traders to find opportunities to socialize as their activity is quite lonely, but they should be careful not too be influenced too much about other people's trading ideas and charts.
Crypto Twitter is a great place for entertainment, I'll say that.  Cheesy

For more in-depth discussions about charting and all that I'd look for a telegram or preferably discord trading group.
696  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: People's goal should shifting, specially if you are financially responsible on: October 26, 2020, 10:03:24 AM
Although the bias in this forum is to have a higher allocation of the net worth in Bitcoin, I'd say that a financially responsible person is constantly learning about personal finance and especially how to diversify.
The future of the crypto space and especially Bitcoin is looking bright, I won't deny that. However there is still a great deal of risk associated with cryptocurrencies.
697  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Regulation possible? Regulation Inevitable? on: October 26, 2020, 07:14:04 AM
I think 10 years should be plenty of time for people to get familiar with Bitcoin and begin using it on day-to-day transactions.

Some kind of regulations will be set in place for sure, but it will be hard for all the countries to get in a common ground. So there will be loopholes for sure. But again, Bitcoin is offers a good anonimity, I'm sure there will be well-developed DEXes until then so we won't depend on a centralized exchange to trade.
698  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: BTC PUMP, But Every other Coin Dumping!! on: October 25, 2020, 09:18:38 PM
Bitcoin is the king. People know it in their subconscious. They just want to make an extra buck on the side trading altcoins when BTC is consolidating.
It is normal for people to dump altcoins when Bitcoin is gaining traction. After all these companies/funds you see on the news are acquiring Bitcoin, not altcoins. We should follow their footsteps. Just my cents. Wink
699  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Trezor saved my after robbery on: October 25, 2020, 07:26:26 PM
Good for you, man. Hopefully they get the thieves. It's rough when you go travelling and this happens. Don't let an unpleasant event ruin your taste for seeing the world. It could happen to anyone.

I'm also glad to hear that hardware wallets do their jobs. Smiley Even if they would have stolen the trezor, you still have the paper wallets somewhere safe, right? It is never a bad thing to be cautious.
700  Economy / Economics / Re: In COVID-19 everyone needs motivation on: October 25, 2020, 03:43:30 PM
Covid-19 has reduced our economy to zero level which many people was killed by the corona virus why some are in isolation center receiving treatment. Many businesses collapsed because of the lockdown that government has put on ground to enable the doctors to identify the covid-19 cases and take them to isolation center for treatment.
When there life there is hope, we should still moving with our business to make sure we overcome this hardship we are facing right now.
There are many things we can do to grow our businesses with bitcoin in this pandemic.

I agree. Being depressed and lacking energy will not solve anything. I wouldn't say, though, that "Covid-19" has reduced our economy to zero. Some industries are still going strong. It is just a slow-down, an impediment, nothing more.

Hopefully we learn something valuable from this period. Mistakes are great guides if we open our eyes and ears. Wink
