This is common to quite a lot of the boards. Surely it can't be too difficult to move threads onto the correct boards.
How about a 24 hour warning ban for posters that are in flagrant breach of the board guidelines.

I've been cruising a lot of the boards, and I can't find many "high quality" posts. I give a point to the few that I do find, but it is a real struggle. I'm not a merit source, but I do receive some "merit sauce" ie sMerits, and I feel that I should return them to the community, so come on guys, start talking about Bitcoin. That doesn't just mean price movements, or questions about Bitcoin replacing paypal, banks, you tube or sex.

I've added some more members to my ignore list, and it has made a vast difference to the efficiency of my thread scanning.
Also, I noticed another useful function of the ignore feature. If the OP in a thread is on my ignore list, then the thread title is greyed out in the board index. This means that I can skip over the whole thread when scanning the index. The link to open the thread still works, but the deprecation of the thread in the index means that I probably won't bother.

A lot of people who are new to cryptocurrency complicate the answer to this question. The best way to earn cryptocurrency is to do whatever it is you do in this world to earn money and either (1) ask to get paid in cryptocurrency or (2) use whatever currency you are paid in to buy cryptocurrency.
There is the truthful answer. ![Smiley](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/smiley.gif) I'd add that the Internet has created some new skills and income sources. Making videos and taking photos to generate micro-payments on-line are a couple of examples. Selling goods and accepting Bitcoin in payment is another method I use.

I think it is because of the threads you are starting. Selling gift cards is probably a bit of a limited market, and it has started to get a bad reputation.

So, basically the ability of enhancing low ranked accounts is sticked to a small number of (hopefully socially advanced) users from the forum. Since everything here is about decentralization and giving the power back to the community, i think this is some kind of hoax.
You have missed te fact that merits awarded by merit sources generate sMerits for the person receiving the award to give out.

A member who can't be bothered to read the myriad of threads about this. Well there is one answer to that. ![Smiley](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/smiley.gif) ![](https://ip.bitcointalk.org/?u=http%3A%2F%2Fcryptobounty.com%2Fbitcointalk-beggars%2Fimages%2Fekoyulio20-ignore.jpg&t=663&c=jTAbQmo7HsYiOQ)

is we allowed to asking merit for our thread we made , and we think its usefull ?
No - see my sig, and if you struggle with english, it might be better for you to start on the board for your first lnguage.

I agree, and that's why I gave a merit here. However, I think it is worth running the thread on the beginners board, and maybe that will give them some encouragement. I don't really differentiate on the basis of rank, sex, nationality, colour of your mouse, or stuff like that, but rather than posting every award, I thought I would just list the posts by the first couple of ranks.
|
|
|
I think you should make a separate thread for your merit awards and explanations........................
I gave you a merit because I liked your logic. I might have been influenced by the fact that I've just gone through 5 pages of the beginners board, and I couldn't find one post to award. ![Smiley](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/smiley.gif) The post were either about things that I didn't want to award for ICOs, Merit, alts ( should have been on an alt board), or had a title that was meaningless, etc.

Isn't awarding merits for other reasons than quality content against the idea behind merits? I thought the idea was to encourage and promote good content by giving merits exclusively to such posts.
Since there is a limited amount of merits anyway, I'd suggest you to give those merits to posts that are actually good. You're contributing to the overall post quality in the forum in any case, you might as well give the merits to posts that actually deserve them.
I think you have misunderstood my my merit award policy. I only give merit ot post and posters that I think are helping to move the forum back to the vibrant helpful community that it was when I joined. That excludes the beggars, the ICO and sig spammers, and those who can't be bothered to structure a message worthy of posting. Why do you believe that that is against the spirit of the merit system?

Thanks for the replies, and they have helped me to focus on the project. A few things have become apparent. I've gone off the idea of posting in the actual thread. One of the things I've noticed in this forum is that some people copy other's ideas - the merit food banks and the infographics are two examples. If others start to copy this idea in an attempt to increase their post count, then threads could become english lessons, and the original theme coud be lost. I don't approve of the merit food banks,or begging for merits, so anyone posting a link and asking for a review will probably go on my ignore list, and they may be added to my beggars gallery. It is clear for the numerous questions about posting quality that many people would like some guidance. I'm not sure that I am the right person for this, as I still have quite a few traditional values. I still regard "program" and "color" as incorrect spellings for example. However, I believe that members who are sympathetic to my values are unlikely to fall foul of any forum rules. I'll start a thread on the beginners board, and include some merited posts with their justification. If it doesn't get much interest, then I'll close it. I'll post the thread on the beginners board rather than here in Meta. I suspect that most new members don't visit Meta, so the thread will be of limited value here. I've just noticed my merit count - it's 666. Who said Merit is evil. ![Smiley](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/smiley.gif)

I gave you a merit for your reasoned responses. ![Smiley](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/smiley.gif) Thank mate Just to let people know I'm not here for begging. I'm willing to do the hard work, but not affraid to share my concerns neither. ![Wink](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/wink.gif) Had I thought that, I would have added you to my beggars list, and put you on ignore. Begging has become a bit of a black topic here, so I would avoid even mentioning it. ![Smiley](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/smiley.gif)

I've been awarding merits to some of the posts on the beginners board, and sometimes I post my reason for the award. I'm a bit ambivalent about this, as I don't think that such posts contribute to the thread. I've seen many posts and threads fom new members asking for guidance about posting, so it would seem that this information could be useful to some.
What do you think is the best approach for me to take? Should I stop, or should I continue to post my reasons for my merit awards? If I am to continue, where is the best place to make my post? Posting in the thread that generated the award is the essiest and most direct method. One alternative that I am considering is to start my own thread in the beginners board, and to list the awards and the justifications in that. That would keep the original thread free of these messages.

Newcomers have no respect for the hero/ legendary and other higher ranked person. Newcomers called them corrupted as they are merit givers only for those person who pay for the merits. They don't know how difficult is to reach at higher posts & is more difficult to manage themselves on that position.
That isn't true, and it is pretty insulting. Also, it gets you added to my ignore list.
|
|

Most of the people asking for merits seem to be sig spammers. Because of this, asking or begging for merit can give the wrong impression. This can mean that merit awarders may put you on ignore, and it probably won't get you any merit points anyway.

The Speculation board is interesting as well. Especially at the moment when the economy of the world is in such a mess.

I think they will create a massive incident somewhere - maybe a war. There is also the situation with DeutscheBank, don't they owe more than the US? and then there is the EU - nobody has mentioned how they are going to repay the UK for their share of the EU assets after Brexit.
Somehow, they have to shove the US dollar under the bus, and create a new crypto based currency for the US. I believe that Bitcoin was created as an experimental project in preparation for this currency. Well they must be pretty close to announcing it now.

I thought that Bitcoin was going to slip a bit more, and then pick up at the end of the month. It looks as if I might have got my timing wrong again, ![Smiley](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/smiley.gif)
