6821  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: $52.50 per 345kh/s Hosted Scrypt ASIC on: May 19, 2014, 04:09:52 AM
I'm very happy to announce recently becoming the hosted groupbuy provider of pcfli.  This means you can get in on the cutting edge of Scrypt ASICs while spending less money than a gridseed!

Price: $52.50 Bitstamp for a 344kh/s+ share, each representing .4% of the whole device

Shipping time: Up and running within 48 hours of final payment

Miners purchased: 0

Slots Left on current miner: 250/250

Hosting: 90 days hosted in China, then shipped over here to a buyer at the end

Escrow: Yes, provided by OGnasty.  He'll be posting in here soon.  Fee is included in share price.

Price Protection: Yes, price drops between now and purchase time will be refunded

Fees: .001 to transfer shares, everything else included in share price Smiley

Pool: Leaserig and ghash.io multipool

Payouts: Automated daily with ghash.io payouts

Share Transfers: Allowed at any time with a payout address/PGP signed PM.

Hardware and hosting will be provided by pcfli, he'll be posting in here shortly with his terms.  There is no limit for how many of these he can host, so as soon as one round finishes another will open.  Scrypt.cc is trading at about twice this price, so if you want cloudhashing this is the best place to get it.

Disclaimer: Mining is a risky investment, please don't invest your rent, food money, etc.  I am not responsible for things out of my control, such as pool owners running with coins, mining profitability dropping, etc.

Payment address for non-escrow: 1QBxTsfzSvPoHh7vstG5QKTjAEaMRbwkau

Is the ASIC already ready to rock, or did you just put in a preorder? If the latter, what's the ETA?
6822  Economy / Speculation / Re: When do you expect the price of btc to rise? on: May 19, 2014, 04:08:07 AM
I think it will be flat for a while. This is a good thing as volatility limits the utility of it as a means of exchange. As adoption grows the value with grow with it. I think we are done with speculative bubbles for a little while.

I am thinking the same thing. What people aren't realizing is that the market cap is increasing, even though the price per coin isn't (because there are another 25 BTC per 10m being released, which at the current rate is almost $60k an hour added to the market cap). As Bitcoin creation slows down due to halving, we can expect more increases. There are just too many coins being made now compared to the amount of money being added to the economy.
6823  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Bank closes account on: May 19, 2014, 03:58:27 AM
CitiBank will close your account and steal your funds. No withdrawal, no dispute, nothing.  Happened to TWO of my partners in the USA.

Were there any statements as to why the accounts were closed? Were they just using the accounts normally (Bitcoin-related) or were they doing a lot of deposits/withdrawals?

Can anyone here confirm lower power usage and heat with F@H as well? I was just reading through the docs. If anyone has like a 7950/7970 that they can compare it to (Scrypt vs F@H) that'd be awesome.

Over at http://curecoinfolding.com/ I did one for a Sapphire Toxic 280x, which is very similar to a 7970. Currently, my rigs run cooler when protein folding, with lower power consumption. I'll benchmark a 7950 and 7970 for you tomorrow.

That's an awesome review. I'm looking forward to the one tomorrow! FWIW, I have a 7950 (just threw 7970 in there because I figured they'd be somewhat similar). I'm mostly interested in the Scrypt vs F@H:

Power usage
Temperatures
Fan speed at that temp

With the temps being around the same ambient.

I really need to get a Kill-a-Watt, XD.

How many Curecoins could someone expect to get off mining with, say a 7950?

We did some calculations earlier in IRC, I'll repeat them here.

If the team makes, say, 230M PPD tomorrow, and your 7950 gets 95K PPD, then you would get 0.04% of the 7488 CUR payout, which would be around 3 CUR. At an exchange price of 0.002, that's around $2.70.

Awesome. Thanks for the response! I had seen the project before but wasn't sure how it all worked and that made me hesitant to join it. Reading up on it more, though, I think it is a good idea.

Welcome - I'm mining with a 7950 too so thanks for the math. I'm currently running my 7950 at around 110k PPD but I have $2.16 in electricity costs/day. Still I was doing folding@home before this for free so might as well continue Smiley.

My electric is $1.20 or so per day so that means this should be a profitable project for me.

6828  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Why DOGECoin will go up 3000% again on: May 19, 2014, 02:34:25 AM
From the main dogecoin thread
Dogecoin is going to get Josh Wise racing in the Nascar All Star Race so it might help the price a bit
http://www.sbnation.com/nascar/2014/5/16/5725312/reddit-dogecoin-josh-wise-danica-patrick-fan-vote-2014-nascar-all-star-race

Also to the moon  Grin
http://motherboard.vice.com/read/dogecoin-is-going-to-the-moon-for-real

If the last race didn't boost the price of Dogecoin, why would this one? I think that the races are catering to the wrong people. What we're dealing with is technology. We need to be pushing the coin out to technology conventions and such.
6829  Economy / Currency exchange / Re: Bitmain is looking for bulk Bitcoin buyers on: May 19, 2014, 02:32:52 AM
I'm curious as to why you (as an ASIC provider) need people to buy such a high load. Are you expanding into other territories?
6830  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Getting paid for signature space? on: May 19, 2014, 02:30:56 AM
What are the minimum requirements for selling your signature space to advertisers?  I'm curious as to how this actually works and if you actually get paid? All it basically comes down to is, your promoting they're services right?

From my experience, I haven't had any campaigns that didn't follow through with their agreement. With that said, each advertiser has different requirements. Some require 0 posts, others 50. Some require certain activity levels and others don't. It just varies.
6831  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Bank closes account on: May 19, 2014, 02:29:09 AM
An close associate in the US got a call from his bank and was informed that they will have to close his account due to his bitcoin transactions... this was under the premise that he did not have a money transfer certificate (like Western Union).
I was curious if anyone else has had a similar experience... the concern is if banks are starting to collude against virtual currencies in the states.

I've heard of others losing their accounts due to the same thing. I contacted a local bank and asked if they would do the same, and they said that they just won't accept Bitcoin, and that using exchanges (to convert fiat <-> BTC) is fine as long as they are sending ACHs. I've gotten similar answers from a few other banks as well.
6832  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [DVC]DevCoin - Official Thread - Moderated on: May 19, 2014, 02:21:47 AM
speaking with the coinpayments new owner there will be a cool new idea to use a ripple gateway to settle alt coins in IOUs which will eliminate any liquidity issues vendors like me have with coins with no market depth. This will allow me to exchange dvc to usd or btc without affecting thr exchange rate...

I would love to hear more about this as more information comes to light. This is a big issue I've had with accepting Devcoin: it's too risky at the moment because if I have to source items, I have to convert to USD at some point. This means either speculating on price or overcharging for items to create a cushion.
I know what you mean.. speaking with him it seems like there would be an IoU market which will exchange alts for btc or usd or other fiat and then the tx is conplete either when there is a buyer of that iou or the market maker (coin payments) Buys the iou and settles over time.. Not sure about that part.. but since the ripple gateways will be used by banks there will be a large influx of volume available for these ious so it may be atleast somewhat plausable.. I may end up working with the owner of coinpayments to get it ready for the nextgen so If I do i will keep devcoin community posted.

That sounds awesome! It's definitely a step in the right direction, one way or the other. And I think it would be a huge thing for not only DVC but other coins as well (and to Coinpayments if they pull it off).
6833  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: bitcoin-trader.biz on: May 19, 2014, 02:20:21 AM
So much FUD... Sigh.  Invest only that which you can lose. That applies to Bitcoin Trader as well as to Exxon. i'm a month away from shares maturity and i will report if the cashout goes without a hitch.

This right here. Never invest more than you can afford to lose. In anything.

I will say that so far that the trading profits on the site are averaging around 1% per day (so 20% interest after 4 months, basically, or 60% a year or more if you are reinvesting). Whether that trend will continue or not is uncertain. But at least for now, it's proving to be a good buy.
6834  Economy / Lending / Re: Looks for small loan ( 0.0775 BTC ) on: May 19, 2014, 02:18:18 AM
Is it just me or the TXid 68dec0310317061e9f63258e60af5496d1dc15677e4976d19344e6d93620d11e-000 shows up as an "Unrecognized search pattern" on blockchain.info? Huh

Edit: nvm, removed 3 zeros...  Ok, well it seems you did purchase that, but you should always supply a collateral.  Should you ever decide to put altcoins up for collateral, feel free to visit my lending thread.
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=615298.0

No disrespect meant to you, for I understand why you wish collateral. You have you own financial situation like I having mine. Everyone different, not all investor the same. One stock good for this man but bad for another, one loan bad for one lender but good for another. It depend on the person and personal sitatuation or that of the business finances, right?

There maybe someone there who think for them this a reasonable deal. If they find my thread, good for us both. If not all well that ending well.

It not so far-fetched to believe person having made successful deal in past and provably own ASIC miners can repay $34,87 of Bitcoin in short time, no? Again, understanding there LOT of scams in Lending but not all people bad and I try to take extra step to show I serious and capable. If it don't work out it just don't work out, but it worth a try.  Smiley

It has nothing to do with how much you earn. You could provide proof that you are a multi-trillionaire. It doesn't mean you aren't going to steal. You're talking about two completely different things here.

Collateral protects against being stolen from. No more, no less. It provides the security of knowing what if someone doesn't pay you back, you have something of equal value and haven't lost.

6837  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Is mining profitable for you? I will be compiling answers for an article. on: May 19, 2014, 02:06:03 AM
To me, mining 24/7 is over. It's been this way ever since profitability started going down the drain. I was actively mining scrypt coins, usualy through the few multipools of the time (mainly middlecoin). I was so hyped when I realised I could earn a full mBit a day or even more on good days. This was when Bitcoin's price was at it's all time hights. I would let my computer mine for weeks non stop and I was even thinking to invest some of my savings into a mining rig. But then bad news started pushing bitcoin's price down and there was a huge decline in altcoin prices. I stoped mining. It wasn't until DOGE. Thankfully, I saw all the attention it was receiving in this forum and started mining early. It did pay out eventually! Since then I only selectively mine newly released coins as a hobby.

That's pretty much the only way (other than for those who get ASICs early) to break even or win on mining now: by speculating on whether coins are going to go up or down in value. Past that, due to the price of Bitcoin it's not really worth it (unless you, again, are speculating that Bitcoin's price will rise).

Is mining profitable for you?  I will be compiling answers for an article.

Please send feedback to my site with the following format:

Example...
Nickname: Judge Crypto
Coin(s) : Dogecoin (DOGE)
Comment : I still mine for fun but it is no longer profitable.

*** Even if your coin is PoS, do you mine your coin through a multipool?

Feedback site:

Judge Crypto

The answer for me is "no." The price of mining is getting to the point where it is no longer profitable without an ASIC. Even coins like X11 are rewarding so little (in BTC value) that they aren't worth pursuing anymore.
6839  Economy / Speculation / Re: A Single Bitcoin will Worth $100K - Do You Believe it? on: May 19, 2014, 01:40:01 AM
it's been so dapper with BTC for the past 3 months.. i'm waiting or things to heat up in the summer. speculating a far off number like $100k is too far in the future for me to even consider. i just want to see it rally up a little bit for the time being.

If it goes back to the ATH, I'd be happy with that. Until we hit that we're obviously not going to move forward. I think for all intents and purposes, while I do believe that BTC will increase many times what it has so far, we need to be shooting for just the ATH right now (which was like what, 1.2k).
6840  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Bitcoin Interest Rate on: May 19, 2014, 01:38:46 AM
I was. I didn't see any other way to invest in the site or anything. Were you referring to something different?

Yes. Recently they added this interest on deposits I talked about. 4% annualy with 6 hour payments.

Text below from their website:
Quote
How does it work?
About every 4 hours you get interest on your confirmed balance.
Where is the money coming from?
The interest is paid from trading fees and from profit of operator owned bankroll shares.
Where to apply?
No need to do anything. Just have some balance on PLAYTIN and you will automatically start to receive interest.
Do I get interest on gambling profit?
Yes, it does not matter where your balance comes from - depositing, trading, or winning, all is fine.
When will I get the interest?
The interest payment is delayed about 2 hours to let any deposits reach the required number of confirmations.
Does it matter how long I have the balance on PLAYTIN?
The longer you have some funds on site the more often you will earn interest.
Are you using the deposited funds for anything?
No, your funds will not be used in any way. We have dedicated funds (bankroll shares) to operate the casino.
Why are you doing this?
We figured some advertising money is better spend directly to our customers.
And it is a very nice incentive for users to enable 2FA, since this is a prerequisite for receiving interest.
How much will I get?
This are the current rates:
Bitcoin   4.00%
Dogecoin   4.00%
Litecoin   4.00%
Maxcoin   4.00%
Namecoin   4.00%
Novacoin   4.00%
Peercoin   4.00%
Primecoin   4.00%
Why does PLAYTIN pay so much more than the competition?
Because we can. Our revenue is coming from the casino, not from those tiny trading fees.
Will the rate ever change?
We reserve the right to change the actual rate at any time without further notice.
I want to earn even more!
Buy yourself some bankroll shares. They have a much higher yield.

Interesting, I wasn't aware of that. So it's more or less a choice between a liquid deposit and getting 4% or buying shares and getting 80x that but not being able to liquidate it at its full value at any point.
