6821  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2018-04-15]HODL On: In Defense of Bitcoin's Best Strategy on: April 17, 2018, 11:12:16 PM

Thank you for interesting thought! It seems to me that this is the most working strategy. And most importantly, without unnecessary effort and waste of time , you get a much greater result than with trading, mining and other methods of earning on crypto currencies.

Right HODL'ing is one of the best strategy that someone with no prior knowledge of trading. Less hassle and no headache everyday specially seeing the price plunging.

And just by hodling for longer term, one might get and realized his potential profits. Just read 50 cent, way back he decided to accepts bitcoin as payment with his downloaded songs and moving forward 2017 he gains a lot by just keeping it in his wallet.
6822  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Why is Ethereum market value going down? on: April 16, 2018, 05:46:29 PM
I see the market cap of Ethereum is going down day by day. Could someone explain what is really driving down? Is it due to market FUD or sth different.

Alot of altcoin are dependent on etehreum platform and enable fot some like bounty hunters to earn a bitcoin they will use a conversion of altcoin to ethereum and selling it to bitcoin. This looks like the demand for eth is decreasing and it became just a stepping stone to own a bitcoin. That is why the price is dipping, because of a lot of ICO out there awarding a lot of token to bounty pool.

Well you don't have to isolate etherium here as obviously, majority of the market took a plunge first quarter of this year and there seems to be no sign yet of a full recovery. Eth is pretty similar to btc and once the bulls return, eth holders will be thankful they held on.

Right, everything went down not just Ethereum, and everyone losses a lot of money in the time span. I was so lucky to have exited and sold all my Ethereum as all-time-high but then re-invested with it went into crisis. There are a lot of causes like governments crackdown on ICO and the crypto sphere. But lets say that they can't stop it and lately we have surges but I'm not sure if this is the start of a bull run though.

Another news that really put blockchain in the next levels. But then again, ironic to see that banks keeps on attacking bitcoin but they embraced the technology that powered it. I'm pretty sure that they are really afraid of crypto because of its disruptive nature, but its like a double sword. They learn to loved the technology because it will give them a lot of advantage but hate bitcoin because it might potentially affect their future earnings.

HODL On: In Defense of Bitcoin's Best Strategy

In 1987's Black Monday stock market crash, Sam Walton, the world's richest man, lost more than half a billion dollars in a few hours.

When reached for comment, Walton said, "It's paper anyway. As far as I'm concerned we're focusing totally on the company doing well and taking care of our customers."

He didn't care about dollars; he cared about his asset Wal-Mart, and he still owned that.

History of the #HODL

$7.5K Ahead? Bitcoin Price Charts Hint at Bull Move

The stagnant bitcoin charts could spring back to life in the next 24 hours, with a bullish move possibly on the cards.

The cryptocurrency has been moving in a more or less sideways manner for over a week now and - currently trading at $6,848 on Bitfinex - is largely unchanged on a 24-hour basis.

However, the price range continues to narrow on a daily basis (as seen on the chart below) and a breakout appears to be imminent.

6826  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin price increases 1000$ in 10 minutes - why? on: April 12, 2018, 06:35:14 PM
Because maybe some big entity is pumping the price lately. Its not the first time that we have seen this phenomena though, specially in December wherein there's a lot of money going in the market daily.

We have hit double bottom, so its about time that those who are waiting in the background pour their hard cash that's why a big pump is being witnessed today. Gonna be interesting in the next couple of days and see where the price will settle after this pump.

NY Regulator Argues BitLicense Regulation Boosted Businesses

The New York State Department of Financial Services (NYDFS) is taking steps to defend its much-contested track record as an early regulator of cryptocurrency.

In remarks at this year's Conference of State Bank Supervisors Tuesday, NYDFS superintendent Maria Vullo discussed the agency's efforts to police the cryptocurrency space, touting the state's technology-specific licensing regime, the BitLicense, as an example of how her agency has contributed to the maturation of the industry.

Because the agency's role is to protect consumers, cryptocurrencies needed to be regulated, and these regulations, she argued, have benefited the space

She told attendees:

"The regulatory structure that we created for virtual currency has helped our licensed companies attract greater interest from customers, investors, and potential financial services partners seeking to pursue further innovation, while protecting market integrity by stringent standards applicable to all law-abiding business enterprises."

6828  Economy / Marketplace / Re: Hottest Airdrop & Bounty List on: April 12, 2018, 06:02:28 PM
Yes, this might be really helpful for those newcomers who wanted to join airdrops and get free coins on their wallet. But it seems that some of them are requiring KYC rule which I don't like.

As far as bounty, I guess you need to do your own research by something like this will be very helpful as well. Again, just used common sense though before applying for a airdrop and bounties. Goodluck to every bounty hunters out there.
6829  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Why is everyone just HODLing? on: April 12, 2018, 05:52:50 PM
Probably you might have bought when the price is steep and dumping today will make you lose more money instead of gaining profit. Second reason is that as investment, you look at bitcoin for long term hold to maximized your profits. And we have reading a lot of stories that they just hold on it and waited like 2-3 years and are just selling with bitcoin at top price.
6830  Economy / Speculation / Re: Seeing Green on: April 12, 2018, 05:46:48 PM
Soo happy to see the market turn happy n high! Wink

Hope its sets all the new highs very soon and doesn't disappoint us anymore this year  Grin

And the market is now all set to get into the bull race and this is what all of us really wanted.

This is all we have been waiting for. I'm expecting a bull run and breaking the $10K barrier at the end of the month. The bulls are finally awake and will take over  this market from the bears.

Maybe this year was started at the wrong foot, but with the way the price increased today, it doesn't look that it will disappoint us anymore, instead if will give us joy to and hope that another all-time-high will be touch at the end of 2018.

The Winklevoss Brothers Just Won a Crypto Patent

A company owned by Cameron and Tyler Winklevoss, founders of the Gemini cryptocurrency exchange, has been granted a patent for a system that seeks to improve the security of digital transactions.

The application was filed in November and granted on Tuesday by the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO). It describes a "system, method, and program product for processing secure transactions within a cloud computing system," with Andrew Laucius, Cem Paya and Eric Winer named as inventors (neither of the Winklevosses is included on the list).

This system uses a combination of common cryptographic techniques, including hash functions and digital signatures. Figures included in the application explain that the system is intended to provide security in a cloud-based digital asset exchange.

And while it doesn't spell it out directly, the patent's language suggests that the proposed system could be used within Gemini's infrastructure.

6832  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Why sudden bump in bitcoin? It is now over $8000 on: April 12, 2018, 12:36:04 PM
Few hours before the price of bitcoin was at $7000 but suddenly there is a huge price bump over $1000 and it causes the bitcoin price to go up 17%.And it happened in other cryotocurrency prices as well it is an whales action or what?

But it is good to see the price now. Smiley

Many prediction points that bitcoin will really pick up because its has hit double bottom at $6500. And we will also noticed that in the last few days, bitcoin price is somewhat stalled. Maybe investors are just consolidating and waiting behind.

But now they suddenly pours cash pushing the price to $8K, but suddenly its just above $7600 because daily traders are now starting to do their thing. But this is a good sign though that this bearish market will be coming to an end.

Bear Market 'Largely Over,' Crypto Hedge Fund Manager Claims

Timothy Enneking, managing director of Crypto Asset Managment, LP, said Monday that the winter in cryptocurrency markets is "largely over."

Crypto Asset Management, which was founded last year and has roughly $20 million in assets under management, saw its CAMCrypto30 cryptocurrency index fall by 69 percent since its high in January. Enneking sees four reasons for the collapse.

Asset consolidation, regulatory concerns, massive liquidation by the Mt. Gox trustee and startups' selling crypto assets to pay salaries and expenses are all factors in the market's overall decline, he wrote.

"Consolidation after the amazing 2017 increase" drew back some of the funds invested in cryptocurrencies, he said.

Invsestors are also likely wary due to recent regulatory actions. While he did not cite any specific events, the report comes just weeks after the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission subpoenaed startups with initial coin offerings.

It remains unclear what exactly the SEC is looking for, though an official confirmed "dozens" of investigations were underway.

The other two reasons likely had less of an impact, Enneking said.

These factors have mostly been priced into the cryptocurrency market, which, despite the recent rout, is still up by over 600 percent in the last 15 months.

Enneking also noted that bitcoin's share of the overall cryptocurrency market has fallen from 45.7 percent on Dec. 20 to 44.3 percent. This decline in "BTC dominance" has coincided with a decline in correlation between bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies, he wrote.

While the note does not comment on what declining correlation means, it could indicate that the quality of individual cryptocurrencies is beginning to have a greater influence on their market prices.

The combination of these factors indicate that the market should begin rebounding soon, he indicated in his report.

6834  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: I bought on all time high on: April 10, 2018, 11:32:29 PM
If you are not selling then its obviously your investment is still intact and as what most of the users have said, you don't need to worry. But you have that mentality not to be affected by FUD's that will change you mind and just push the sell button illogically.

Just continue to hold and wait it out till crypto makes another break out run so that you will at least gain a good profit. If you are man enough, just let it sit in your wallet till the end of the year and see it grow.
6835  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Ethereum soon $500? on: April 10, 2018, 11:21:41 PM
when bull market happen ethereum will be so much more than 500 dollar but right now it hasn't started yet. today's pump was only a false alarm. we have to be more patient. Wait june or july to 1000+ dollars. Just be patient about ethereum!

$500 is possible. Ethereum just like bitcoin has so many investors but right now they decided to keep their fiat and not pour their cash on the ecosystem. But when everything goes on a sudden U-turn, we will see Ethereum enjoying its best moments again and could hit even as high as $1000 which it did last January.

Yes, patient is the key here and don't be that impulsive seller that keeps dumping when their is a big crash. You have to reconsider that the market is very volatile and the price increase will not go on parabolic.
6836  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: How much % gain/loss before selling on: April 10, 2018, 11:11:24 PM
Thank you for your feedback.

I have some altcoin that are already with 20% gain, but it is just small change since I invested just a little to understand how it works.

Maybe a good option would be to allocate some money and start doing some day-week trades to get the idea of how much would be acceptable and then start building a portfolio with long term coins.

Altcoins are different animal mate, lol. Most of them are just pump-and-dump coins so just be careful. You will see a lot of coins being pump with no apparent reason, some as high as 100% in matter of days. Just be careful though.

For me a good 5%-10% will be a good exit strategy for me. I don't want to be that greedy, for daily trading hard to say probably around  2%-5% if you are that lucky and good.
6837  Economy / Speculation / Re: Expected predictions on: April 10, 2018, 11:01:33 PM
That is a good perspective for investment business, but I think it is not wise to compare this year straight to last year, because bitcoin price explosion was only happen last year, not really happen in the years before. it is good to be optimistic, but should prepare if only stability of bitcoin price has come.

But at least we can see that with bitcoin's proven record, it can still go up and increase or go even further an hit all-time-high once again. If history can tell us lessons, then its time to invest on bitcoin today because its quite cheap and wait for it to go on another bull run and see how our investments grow in the future.

Not wise to compare but at least learn a lesson or two from its past history, just saying.
6838  Economy / Speculation / Re: Will bitcoin survive? on: April 10, 2018, 10:48:05 PM
Why wouldn’t it survive? Bitcoin has been here, long before we registered to this forum so basically this coin is strong and sturdy; it may have some ups and downs but more of downs ever since the year started but I’m sure it will soon recover before we know it.
I do not have any kind of doubt that bitcoin is going to be here for a very long time, however others are not so sure and the reason for that is that every day new coins are emerging and appearing in the market and while we know that most of those coins are not going to survive long enough to become a threat to bitcoin there is a small percentage of those coins that will become important in the future and that is why people keep doubting if bitcoin is going to remain at the top of the market cap.

Right, bitcoin or crypto will stay here for long no matter what attacks they throw at them. The only problem is that sometimes we lost faith because its so discouraging to see the current predicament that we are in.

We didn't expect that the price will still go increase and even tops at $50K, however, its extremely volatile that's why the price plummeted to $6K-$7K as of today. But it doesn't mean that it will die because of that.
6839  Economy / Economics / Re: What's more important when starting a business, Big Idea or Big Capital? on: April 10, 2018, 01:25:43 AM
What is more important with starting a business is to have a big capital than to have a big idea. Having a big idea is good but without capital those ideas will be worthless cause you can't do anything without enough money to support what you want to do. If you have a a big capital you can do every thing that goes to your mind.

You are quite right. First you really have to big bucks to back up your idea. If you don't have the capital in the beginning, if will be very hard for your business to take off because it will be just confined to the budget that you just have.

If you have big capital, you can do marketing or have purchased a lot of things that you can offer to your clients. Instead of just a small capital that you need to just roll over days after days.
6840  Economy / Economics / Re: No need to panic sell after the Ban by RBI on: April 10, 2018, 01:16:32 AM
Yes, for those educated on crypto, they wouldn't give a itch or moved their eyelash simply because RBI ban any financial entity to deal with crypto. But for those investors, mostly newbies they see this as a negative thing that's why they easily panic and the next time you know, they are pushing the sell button immediately without reading the lines. But everything has settles down, they will realized that its a complete FUD because India didn't ban bitcoin or cryptos.
