6841  Other / Meta / Re: MERIT on: April 24, 2018, 02:27:51 PM

1. Give merit to people who create threads and topics are becoming popular. If the topic has 10 pages of comments - then to add 5 merits.
2. If a member has more than 100 activity on the forum is to enroll him 10 merits. More than 200 activity, give 100 merits.
I don't see any other options at the moment. Or buy merit. Personally, I am against such practices. It seems to me that the system of merit, unfortunately made this forum for many people commercial enterprise. We need new ideas to solve this problem, because I repeat that there are no other ways to increase their rank, in addition to buying merit at the moment.

Cristal clear, you don't even understand how the merit system works and yet you want to change it already, obviously for your own benefit.
No, the most popular threads are commonly useless and full of spam. We don't need to give merits to them, but erasing them should be the right choice. Indeed, they have been erased from the last week, as you can see.
The activity doesn't mean quality. That's precisely why the merit system was implemented. Now you are asking for the forum to help you to rank-up with no effort at all.
I've dug into your posting activity and you are not a shitposter, so my recommendation is for you to erase this thread as soon as possible, for you are going directly to the "ignore" list of many in here.
I understand how the merit system can feel unfair for many people, but take it as a challenge, as users like DdmrDdmr or Bitmover. They have been rewarded with many many merits due to their activity, highly useful.
And, besides, this is not a matter to be obsessed with, unless your only interest in the forum is to earn some money. So don't be obvious. The people really interested in learning never talk about merit, for they don't even concern.
6842  Other / Off-topic / Re: Is there possibility that World War 3 gonna start soon ? on: April 23, 2018, 10:18:27 PM
I don't believe the newt war is going to be about bombs, but cyber attacks. And, by the way, this war is already happening by now.
Cyber attacks are one of the most dangerous of all. Try to imagine the missile control of a powerful country being hacked. It is not about launching bombs, but having the control over them.
Of course, I'm talking about a wide war, as you asked.
Nowadays many wars are taking place, the war for the water and the medicine in Central Africa, the war for the oil and the strategic oil positions (US vs Russia on Sirya), the internal wars of Mexico against the narco (with more casualties than Syria) ...
If you take a look at the world right now, there are many many wars taking place. Many. Only a small fraction of the world is living in a state of "peace", but they have soldiers all over the globe.
6843  Other / Meta / Re: Is Bitcointalk.to same of Bitcointalk.org ? on: April 23, 2018, 10:00:39 PM
Apparently, something similar is going on with the BitcoinWiki. The "real one" is Bitcoinwiki.it, and there is another one called Bitcoinwiki.org.
You can read about it in here: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1253584.0
It was reported a few ago by another user.

The massive attack towards this forum is amazing.
6844  Other / Meta / Re: Anyone notice posts not being counted? on: April 22, 2018, 06:18:00 PM
Never had this problem before but it seems like my post count stopped increasing when posting in the Altcoin (Mining) section.

After some digging i found that if you'll check my "lasts posts" page you will notice on page 47 there is a count of total 924 posts but as of this writing my post count is only displayed as 922.

Anyone experiencing the same issue?

Mods have been very active from the last week and many useless threads have been removed. If you answered some of them, then your counting activity will fall due to the erased posts.
This is happening each day, they are working hard on cleaning up the forum and the activity disappears every time a thread you quoted is deleted.
6845  Other / Meta / Re: Solution to stop Newbie-Jr.Member spamming on: April 22, 2018, 06:10:46 PM
Eh...
This topic has been discussed in the past, and most of the community(the real one) has decided that this is a big no go for obvious reasons. Mods are overloaded with work already. Not a good enough suggestion.
And the hell is merit system for? To discourage spamming of course.

Yes, but it also can be altered, just check this recent post here on the meta board: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=2828892.0
A shit-poster merit-begger obtaining 50 merits for free, as a shameless act of farming.
I don't like to repeat myself, but I truly believe we are in a need of some "report merit abuse" button in each profile section. I am sure this will be a great tool to improve the merit system here, due to the farmer's activities and the shameless acts of many.
To pursue it, thread by thread means too much work for all. It is better to attack directly the fount, meaning, the profile, of the scammers.
6846  Other / Meta / Re: How to get free merit on: April 22, 2018, 06:00:57 PM
Why do I have a feeling that this is just a thread used as an excuse for merit farming? Roll Eyes

Same feeling here. When are we going to have a "report merit abuse button" in each profile section??
This is amazing. They are just farming in the Meta board, shamelessly.
If it was a mistake, then they should need to give an explanation. If not, then both should be banned, we need to make an example here.
6847  Other / Meta / Re: My friend introduce me to btc. At first I was hesitant..... on: April 22, 2018, 05:58:33 PM
^  Not a good idea imo.  Those idiots are obviously doing this professionally.  So they'd be willing to pay no matter how high the fee is.  While it's the real users who would rather leave.

Edit:  I posted this a while ago, but it's still a good read.  They gamed and cheated the first Stellar giveaway done years ago.  Lol.

The Bot Bubble:  Click Farms Have Inflated Social Media Currency
https://newrepublic.com/article/121551/bot-bubble-click-farms-have-inflated-social-media-currency

Nice article, man!!
There are many bot farmers, you can actually buy a Youtube or instagram visitors for a low price. In my country, if you want 2.000 followers on instagram, you will pay around of 200 dollars, and behold!! You're famous!!
Recently I saw an experimental documentary showing how to become a successful instagramer in a week. They just picked a girl (an actress), borrow some clothes from fashion shops, dress up the girl, take some pictures of her and buy 5.000 bots-instagram followers. In less than a month she was ask to go for free to some nice restaurants, and she was invited to any social-fashion event you can imagine. The girl acted as if her account was real, and now she's actually getting huge profits from it.
Many, many middle-famous people begin this way, for the social media is programmed to give them more views based on their followers, and to scale up is easier if you make a tiny investment.
It is amazing how important bots has become. But it is amazing this kind of stuff has any probability of survival in a Forum like this one. Instagram is one thing, but here? Really?
That's the reason why I think we need as soon as possible a report button in each profile section...

6849  Other / Meta / Re: What is the fastest way to climb ranks at bitcoin talk? on: April 21, 2018, 10:26:57 PM
If a new member posts more, will he get privileges faster ?

For example, is it possible to reach Senior Member or Hero  status in 1 week?

You asked for the "fastest way", and the fastest, no doubt is by donating BTC.
If you want some fast privileges, then you should make your donation to the forum. If not, then just work hard (really hard) and never ask about merit, ranking or such a kind of stuff, instead read, learn and be patient!
6850  Other / Meta / Re: Giving 50 merits was legit or ALT? Need your thoughts on: April 21, 2018, 10:24:25 PM

IMO before adding "report to possible merit abuser" if possible then reset the entire merits to the initial setting and start over again. Or may be just start over the entire merit system again without even adding any new feature like you suggested.

Members are now more familiar with the entire merit system so there will be less mistakes (may be a very small percentage) if we start over again.

Agree, but I don't believe the mistakes were too much. Ok, there were common mistakes by people picking the wrong bottom (I have sent merits by mistake one or two times), but it can't be compared to the merit abusers. You can make a mistake once, but then you realize you were wrong and you try to not fall again into the same error.
To me, a reporting button is more than enough. The merit system is already working (despite the beggers), you can see not only less spamming on some boards, but also new users trying hard and sharing amazing content. With the merit-report button, I think the merit abusers will go away for good, as well as their s**ty posts.
6851  Other / Meta / Re: Giving 50 merits was legit or ALT? Need your thoughts on: April 21, 2018, 03:16:48 PM
Maybe this is time to introduce a "report possible merit abuse" on each profile merit's section, so you can just report this kind of activities to mods. It is incredible how many people are abusing of the merit system, I've seen many many cases of people receiving merits from other accounts, 20 each time, by post of the type "I love eating sandwiches" (not literally, but you get my point).
The merit abuse is happening every day, and to report each case in a new thread can be exhausting and difficult to organize. Just this bottom and I truly believe it is going to mean a great change, for the merit abusers will be immediately detected, and can be investigated by mods.
6852  Other / Politics & Society / Re: London Blockchain Expo With Photos on: April 21, 2018, 03:05:37 PM
Hi SEOincorporation,

There wasn't as much talk as you'd expect about UK regulations. Most conversation was focused on security vs utility tokens and the SEC in the US.

The SEC is viewing that the vast majority of crypto projects should be classed as securities and that would require registration with the SEC to sell them. I heard a rumor that some of the big Silicon Valley VC firms including Andreessen Horowitz had a meeting with SEC officials to complain that the regulation will hurt the development of blockchain tech in the US. I heard this 3rd hand so may or may not be true. Also the SEC wants limits put on how much individuals can invest during ICO's and also a ban on reselling tokens as intermediaries. Not sure how this will play out but the vast majority of ICO's are now whitelisting with a "I am not from China or the US" tick box.

Regarding tax in the UK I believe that crypto assets will fall under capital gains tax and be due when converted back into fiat currency. The inland revenue (our tax collector) is understaffed and ineffective so I think it will be at investors discretion as to what they declare for the foreseeable future.

Hi, thanks for answering.
Yes, I think we all quite fall from a regulation regarding the taxes and such stuff.
Taking a look at the US Economic Report: https://www.congress.gov/115/crpt/hrpt596/CRPT-115hrpt596.pdf (chapter 9), the ICOs watch seems to be in action by now, and appears to be one of the principal concerns, contrary of the taxes and other considerations, which seems to be in a very initial phase.
Nevertheless, the scamming activity of many ICOs is an urgent matter. I'm glad they are into it.
6853  Other / Meta / Re: There are many smerit holdings but not readily given. Could we punish them? on: April 21, 2018, 02:54:15 PM
There are higher ranks hold smerits and does not care about givimg merits especially to newbies and jr.member could we punish them so that it will be given? Literally they have high standards in giving merits or else they were just lazy in giving merits. How i wish those smerits if not given im a period of time will be deducted on their merits.

I'm literally out of smerit, for I have given all of them to good posts, but regarding punishment, I think we must introduce a new rule in the forum, where the beggers as you can be banned.
6854  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Anacyclosis - cycles of society/government on: April 21, 2018, 02:47:59 PM
Precisely. We have in our hands' amazing technology, such smartphones (smart??) and look at what use the people gives to them: Facebook, Instagram, and this stuff where you have animal faces (I don't know what are they), etc.
They don't use technology to download marvelous books, to read, to learn, but to share their beach photos and their morning-flowered coffees. Even when most of the people are aware of the Facebooks scandal, they don't care, for the entertainment and the ignorance is all they seek, as in a Huxley's nightmare.

In the times of Polybious, people were few compared with today and, yet, he was able to read society and to understand the cycle of nonsense. With all the advances having place each day, the common of the population prefers to stay ignorant and to follow the mainstream thoughts, despite they have all in the palm of their hands (obviously I refer only a part of the population). We must add to this, perhaps, the crazy increment of the population, this insane reproduction of a species, as cancer growing on the surface of the Earth. But, even so, the behaviors haven't changed much from the last 3.000 years.

So, yes, Bitcoin, I'm afraid, has not enough power to reach the minds of the people, it can be used (someday) by them, but as another useful tool, not as a concept. All the internet creation was a revolution, back in the 80s. And look the result: a nightmare of surveillance even Orwell couldn't see, for it is a voluntary surveillance, made happily by the people.
If Bitcoin was seeking anonymity in its ideological fight against the system, the bank... well, people are not interested, they prefer their coffee-pic, their selfies, and their gym.
6855  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Some Common Beginners' Misconceptions on: April 21, 2018, 02:30:18 PM
Really good information. Indeed, many of the newbies here I think just want to become rich by the use of Bitcoin. And that's not so simple, bitcoin can't be seen just as a way to earn some dollars, for this is a technology fully dedicated to many different things.

The pieces of advice you share are perfect for a newbie. I'm truly glad of finally discover some useful stuff here in the Begginers and Help board, instead of this "beggers" plague.
6856  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Anacyclosis - cycles of society/government on: April 20, 2018, 06:10:25 PM
I've been long aware of this marvelous Polybious text and yes, this kind of cycle is still happening in our society.
After long periods of inconsistency, a tyrant always rise. This is maybe difficult to see nowadays, for we all live under the false impression of "freedom", but there is not freedom at all.
Two of the most powerful countries around the world are led by tyrants, as we all now. Even so, in the smallest countries with poorest economies, we have tyrants after revolutionary thoughts, as an endless circle of despair. Once the revolution is over, this is common to see how the supposedly freedom-seekers become, once again, tyrants. And every happens in an eternal cycle, from the time and Polybious and even before that.

If you study the Humankind HIstory, this is always the same.
Now, how is Bitcoin entering into this world? I don't believe the new crypto-economy will lead to an important change in this matter. Humankind has a predictable behavior, and even when important economic changes take place, the history doesn't seem to be able to escape from the eternal cycle. Our society is still in the middle ages in so many places (I can say in maybe the 60% of the globe the people still have middle-ages beliefs, such religion). We live in a different world, we live in the cyberlife, where knowledge is available to many, where we can read, we can build complex ideas. But when the hunger, the war, the ignorance, the tyranny is your way-of-life, bitcoin will suppose nothing.
Somehow, we are used to thinking about the world with our eyes, so we usually forget there are many people (most of humanity) with no access to the world we new, with no access to internet, medical service, food, water, and, of course with no clue of who Polybious is. Bitcoin is here, and it will matter to a section of the world. But just to a section.
6857  Other / Politics & Society / Re: London Blockchain Expo With Photos on: April 20, 2018, 05:54:52 PM
I am very far from London, but I wish I could be there.
Just one question:
Was there any discussion regarding the tax matters? Or related to regulations about crypto?
I am really interested in how are they managing the regulations discuss in such kind of events!!
6858  Economy / Economics / Re: Does Bitcoin create a hole in the cycle of economy? on: April 20, 2018, 05:44:18 PM
Everything you buy in life has taxes. This pen probably has its own taxes, and the stipulated price is calculated with the included taxes.
If you go to a supermarket and see the prices of rice, bread, and beer, for instance, the taxes are different between the products, but all of them have taxes included.
Even so, the pen manufactures obviously pay taxes, in their raw material, which happens to have taxes included too.
The light you pay in your house, it has taxes included (in Spain, for instance, is the incredible 80%), so if you use the light to build this pen, then you are paying taxes.

Taxes are everywhere. In every coke, you take, in every beer, in each clothes you are wearing. It doesn't matter how you pay for them, the taxes are included, so, regarding the pen, taxes are covered.

Regarding your initial question, Does Bitcoin create a hole in the cycle of economy? The answer should be NO. Of course, no. There are many regulations ahead which are going to be necessary if bitcoin wants to become mainstream or be used as a normal payment system rather of an investment product. But, regarding the cycle of the economy, there is no hole (yet).
6859  Other / Meta / Re: For forum nostalgics - how data show forum evolution on: April 20, 2018, 05:31:32 PM
I hope I am reading right?

Yes, your reading is correct.. but many would argue the term "best"  and kind of replace it for "worst" (best year of posts may be worst year for getting to the posts you're actually interested in ...).

So, maybe, in conclusion, we can say today we have many "noise" here on the forum.
I've been here for a long while, and yes, It has changed a lot. I still remember my very first publication, back in 2014, and that was about how to build a server. The forum used to be a place where you can learn about programming, help others and so.
Besides, the discussions in the political section, even in Bitcoin discussion were used to be passionate and truly interesting, when now are just noise and more noise.

But this is normal, I'm afraid, this is the normal evolution when something has new and new incomers each day, and when the will of those new incomers is to earn money o scam people.
Anyway I'm glad to have people like you around, DdmrDdmr, it is always going to be noise, but, in between, you can always find some jewelry.
6860  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Beginner trading techniques/advice on: April 20, 2018, 05:10:29 PM
I'd like just to add some few stuff, for the previous answers where fabulous.
First of all, I consider the Bitcoinwiki to be a really nice and complex place to seek for information: https://en.bitcoin.it/wiki/Main_Page
There you will be able to understand many complex concepts related to blockchain, which I find to be essential to achieve a full panorama related to how the crypto world works. Why it matters? Well, if you are going to use something, why not understand fully how it works? Maybe you can get some nice ideas from it.

Secondly, in my experience, day-trading can be something exhausting. So, to me, there are several points to follow:
1.- Never invest non-expendable money. If you are investing the money you need to eat, then you won't be able to have a cold-mind.
2.- Choose well and learn as much as you can about the coins you are interested in, but never fall in love with one. Investing is not about being "loyal" to any project, but to try to get the best profit. So you don't need to love any coin, you don't need to have any kind of feelings towards a coin.
3.- Make some proofs even before putting in there your very first dollar. Why? Because you can be wrong, as everybody in a training process. So just play for a few, enjoy yourself, watch the market...
4.- Distribute your time. You don't need to be all day thinking about trading, this is insane, and you can be obsessed and, with that, unable to maintain a cold-mind. If you decide to invest, then maybe it is better to stay away from your investments (mentally) few hours per day, so you can go back to them with the clearest view. To me, it was one of the most difficult lessons I have ever learn, 'cause I'm a really obsessive person. But when I understood it, my investments were much better.

All the things that have being said to you are really good points,
I hope you have the best of the lucks. Trading, somehow, can be little like gambling, so consider you can fail sometimes, but, with time, surely you will succeed.

Best of lucks, man!
