I don't know what it is, But some websites run faster with my connection, such as Youtube and Google, and I can download 1-2 MB per second with this connection from youtube. It sounds like your internet provider doesn't use net neutrality, and gives priority to certain sites (they could be paying them for it). Recently I subscribed to a VPN that can bypass the download speed limit, and I can download 1-2 MB per second from any website with my android device. Why don't you run Bitcoin Core through the VPN? So, I wondered if I could download block data with this speed and move it to my computer's blocks folder. It will save me a lot of time for me. Someone provided this link on another thread http://blockdata.loyce.club/ and said it's possible. That most likely won't work, data dumps aren't meant to restore Bitcoin Core. I am unsure which file I should download and where to store it. There are probably still sites that offer Bitcoin Core "bootstrap" data, but it's not recommended. Even at 20 GB per day, it will only take you 23 days to sync Bitcoin Core. It's long, but you don't need to watch it and it's a one-time thing. Just let it run until it's done ![Smiley](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/smiley.gif)

P.S: Notes are only stored LOCALLY and will be lost if you uninstall the extension. Crazy idea: would it be possible to encrypt notes (from the browser) and upload it to your server? If so, I can think of cool things to do: - You can give each user a unique ID
- Each user can choose their own password
- ID and password is enough to restore all Notes, also on multiple devices
- Users could optionally tick a Note as "public" (those won't be encrypted)
- Users can ignore other IDs if the ID sends spam

With KYC: yes. Without KYC and on Tor: good luck to them ![Tongue](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/tongue.gif) So withdrawing LN BTC from kyc exchange (let's say Kraken) and converting it to BTC mainent, exchange would know that BTC is now connected with you and your kraken account? I'm not sure.

"Successes" of Russia in the oil and gas market today: 1. Gas production, only according to official data, reduced by 15%. This is an irreversible loss. That's not a loss if the gas just stays in the ground. 2. That part of the gas that Russia does not supply to Germany via Nord Stream 1 is simply burned. Losses of the order of 300 million dollars a month! I read they're flaring about 4 million m 3 per day. That's a lot, but only 1% of the amount EU used to import from Russia. 3. Part of the oil that Russia no longer supplies to the EU, it is forced to sell to China and India, on their terms, and this is a 40% discount to the market price, i.e. today about 50 dollars per barrel. Yes, and this is subject to more expensive transportation But Russia earns more from Europe than ever. Last month: Since the invasion, Russia’s revenue from exporting oil and gas to Europe has doubled over the average from recent years, to $95 billion, the Paris-based IEA said.
The increase in Russia’s energy revenue in just the last five months is three times what it typically makes by exporting gas to Europe over an entire winter. Why didn't EU set a price cap instead of bans? I would get it if they would have cut it off completely, but now we're literally paying more for less gas. It's the opposite of what the sanctions were supposed to accomplish. EU is basically sanctioning itself and paying more than ever to do so! 4. In Europe, Russia has lost its status as the leader in gas supplies, now Norway is the leader in gas supplies, which is ready to further increase production in order to contain negative factors in the market. That won't last: Russia has 33 times higher gas reserves than Norway, which even at the current rate of production will only last 12 more years.

If you are buying goods, can you throw a couple of extra small things in to your (physical or electronic) basket to make the final amount a non-round number? Now that you mention it: who does this? Usually, goods don't have a round price. I can imagine people use round numbers when sending money to an exchange, funding their online casino account, or when topping up their hosting balance (probably a round number in dollars), but not for buying stuff. Even some centralized exchanges are using Lightning for withdrawals and deposits, so it would be interesting to know if they can somehow track you and connect that with your identity. With KYC: yes. Without KYC and on Tor: good luck to them ![Tongue](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/tongue.gif) I think there is something in human nature that likes rounding numbers Before I realized the privacy implications, I indeed used to like round numbers. It's a lot easier to type and remember them. And I'm probably not alone in this.

For example, you have a UTXO with 1.01 BTC, but you need to make a payment of 0.2 BTC. First, you make a transaction with 5 equal outputs (0.2 BTC) and 0.005 BTC going to miners. Secondly, you create a transaction with 5 inputs + 1 input (0.005 BTC) and five outputs of 0.2 BTC. 0.005 BTC goes to miners as fees, and one or several or all five outputs can later be used as payment. Paying $100 to miners seems like a waste of money for a very small potential improvement in privacy. There are better things to do with that amount: send it to a paper wallet for long-term storage, or use an instant exchange to turn it into LN funds.

I created something, what do you think? First of all, create a separate ANN thread for this. That would help to reach more users. @TryNinja: do it please! Until then: @Little Mouse: can you change the topic title to something else than a question? For instance: " TryNinja's user script to put notes on users" ![Smiley](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/smiley.gif)

That’s crazy, must be because of their cuckold kind of attitude towards pleasing climate change lunatic groups. Actually, it's because of the current natural gas shortage, caused by dependence on a certain country in combination with economic sanctions against that country. Anything higher than early 20 degrees C is top warm inside. Coming winter it won't be allowed above 19. I'm looking forward to that, shops are usually too warm when wearing a winter jacket.

In today's news: Belgium and Germany are on schedule to close nuclear power plants this winter. As much as I like green energy, we're far from being able to go without conventional power plants. Meanwhile in my country: local governments are forced to cancel cheap gas contracts, and buy expensive gas on the spot market. The Dutch are alone in interpreting EU sanctions this way, and may even be violating sanctions by doing this. But ministries aren't known for admitting their mistakes, so it continues as planned. German electricity prices passed 1 euro per kWh for the first time today, just like French prices did last Friday. Meanwhile, the euro keeps dropping against the dollar, and with reason: high energy prices impact every aspect of the economy.

In 2017 we started our first mixing service on the Ethereum blockchain but we recently took it down because of the recent events in relation to tornado cash. Our bitcoin mixer was linked there as well and I can send you more information about that in a private message. We don't want to announce the exact name on here publicly because of legal reasons. Feel free to PM me, but if you do, make sure to include enough evidence to verify the existence of your previous mixer, and to verify you were the owner of said mixer. Update: I received a PM. I believe OP indeed had an Ethereum mixer site before. The domain was registered in 2017, and posted on Bitcointalk in 2018. Based on the few posts in the topic on Bitcointalk, I can't really say how reliable the service was.

All that market share taken away from Bitcoin mostly for the promise of tolkenization and smart contracts.. I thought it's because of the promise of getting rich quick. All those people who missed out on cheap Bitcoin and then created their own hype hoping to still get rich, meanwhile scamming billions of dollars from gullible "investors". Bitcoin dominance is only 40% right now.. Is it? CoinMarketCap shows this Top 10: Bitcoin: $383.5 Ethereum: $182.5B Tether: $67.5B USD Coin: $52.2B BNB: $45.0B Binance USD: $19.3B XRP: $16.6B Cardano: $15.3B Solana: $11.0B Dogecoin: $8.4B Out of a total market cap of $968.6B, this $801.3B is 82.7% and Bitcoin is 47.9% of the Top 10. Ethereum is centrally controlled, abandoned it's core principle the moment it was convenient for the creator, and doesn't stand for anything Bitcoin stands for. It simply doesn't count. Tether is centrally controlled and isn't even a cryptocurrency. USD Coin also. BNB and Binance USD are also centrally controlled. XRP is centrally controlled. I'm not sure about Cardano and Solana, but don't care enough to check. Dogecoin is a real cryptocurrency, even though it's a joke and hyped by the biggest troll on the internet. So let's give the last 3 the benefit of the doubt. That makes Bitcoin's market cap 91.7% of the real cryptocurrencies in the Top 10! And possibly more, since I'm not sure Cardano and Solana even qualify. Market cap is a meaningless measure. It's going to be fun if CBDCs are added to CMC ![Cheesy](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/cheesy.gif)

I've seen several (mobile) wallets that have an option to hide the balance. The thing about Bitcoin Core is that it only offers the basics. Many other wallets have more features, which can be built on top of Bitcoin Core.
By the time someone got their hands on your wallet.dat, they've gotten too close already. I wouldn't upload it to the cloud for instance, but if you do: encrypt it yourself. Why tell an adversary that it's a wallet in the first place, while it could just as well be other data that has no value to an attacker? Knowing it's a wallet is already an incentive to brute-force it. Don't give them that information!
