6881  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: WeChat and Crypto on: May 15, 2019, 05:54:20 AM
I often think about large messengering services incorporating Crypto currencies into their products and with the latest Whatsapp hack, I think it might be risky to expose Bitcoin to millions of people, if the 3rd party service gets hacked.

Satoshi's vision was not for people to use centralized services to act as a intermediary service for Bitcoin payments, so every time these services fail, Bitcoin gets the negative publicity. <Now, just imagine what will happen if one App like this gets hacked, after they added Bitcoin payments via their service.>  Roll Eyes
6882  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Can Bitcoin be the main currency in Mars? on: May 15, 2019, 05:46:05 AM
We already see Bitcoin nodes in space, so it is not unlikely to see Bitcoin pioneering on Mars as being the "Universal Currency" for interplanetary commerce. Just imagine working as a space blogger or software developer on Mars and getting paid in bitcoins from a customer on earth.  Grin

Getting Bitcoin to Mars, would give real meaning to the word, "Borderless"  Wink  I honestly think that they would create their own "SpaceCoin" for every planet, like we have reserve currencies for every country.  Roll Eyes
6883  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Earning interest on cryptos on: May 14, 2019, 06:54:35 AM
I think the most profit that can be made with Bitcoin is the increase in the value of the coins you bought, but I also think a little bit of interest while you wait, will not be a bad idea.  Grin

I dumped some coins into Freebitco.in to get some interest on a small amount of Bitcoin that I deposited there, but most of the returns on that are used to gamble on the site.  Roll Eyes

Tip : DO NOT invest large amounts of money on these sites, because most of them are not regulated and you will have no recourse if something goes wrong.  Wink
6884  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: Finmail - Send Email together with Bitcoin on: May 14, 2019, 06:45:50 AM
People might be more willing to store their sensitive information on "Cloud services" but storing their money on these services would be a tricky ask. Bitcoin services <Wallets & Exchanges> are constantly under attack by hackers and criminals and a lot of them have suffered huge losses and loads of bad publicity, when these services got hacked.

The negativity and bad publicity in the media already fuelled the fears of most people towards Crypto currencies, so you will have a humongous task to educate people and beef up the security of this plug-in to get people to trust this with their money.  Wink

Good luck with this project, you are going to need it.  Wink
6885  Economy / Economics / Re: Is it a value reserve? on: May 14, 2019, 06:33:45 AM
What are we talking about here?

An asset valuation reserve is capital required to be set aside in order to cover a company against unexpected debt. The asset valuation reserve serves as a backup for equity and credit losses. A reserve will have capital gains or losses credited or debited against the reserve account. Source : https://www.investopedia.com/terms/a/asset-valuation-reserve-avr.asp

or

A store of value is the function of an asset that can be saved, retrieved and exchanged at a later time, and be predictably useful when retrieved. More generally, a store of value is anything that retains purchasing power into the future. Source : https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Store_of_value

I do not know if you have your description  100% correct for the question you are asking.  Huh

6886  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bakkt update:Testing for bitcoin futures custody and trading planned this July on: May 14, 2019, 06:25:32 AM
Let's not over hype this whole "test" exercise from Bakkt.  Roll Eyes  They created the platform and now they are doing some "tests" to see if there are a real demand for it, so it is not even close to full implementation yet.

The regulators are also not 100% on board for this, so it is a bit premature to say that it is going to be successful. We have been seeing a lot of promises and announcements from Bakkt in the last couple of months and most of that has been stalled by the regulators.  Roll Eyes
6887  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Why do we need so many cryptocurrency exchanges? on: May 14, 2019, 06:17:54 AM
The thing is one or two exchanges will never list all the 1000s of Alt coins that are out there at the moment. Some developers of these Alt coins need to get their coins out there and creating an exchange is the most logical route, if you cannot pay the fees to get your coins listed on the major exchanges.  Wink

Exchanges are making a lot of money from listing coins and also the transaction fees that are charged on their platform, so people will logically create more of these services if there are a huge demand for such services.  Tongue
6888  Economy / Speculation / Re: what will happen if BTC hit 1.000.000$ on: May 14, 2019, 06:08:03 AM
We will see a repeat of what happened after 2017, where huge amounts of speculators started to enter the scene and rushed to buy some bitcoins. Then as the Bitcoin price starts to reach it's peak, a lot of them will start dumping coins and the price will once again drop like it did in 2018.

The higher the price of Bitcoin goes, the more greedy people tend to get and then when the price takes a nose dive, people blame Bitcoin <the technology> for their greed.

Yes, Bitcoin based hacks and crime connected to Bitcoin will increase as the value of the token increase. <The carrot just becomes bigger for them>
6889  Economy / Speculation / Re: Little dip in bitcoin market, will it be recovered reach 10k on: May 14, 2019, 05:59:33 AM
I am totally amazed at people's questions on a anonymous/public platform specifically targeted at Bitcoin enthusiasts. What kind of response do you expect to get from a bunch of people that are extremely bullish about Bitcoin and it's future? Top this with the fact that these people are anonymous and not responsible for their actions and comments and you have a perfect scenario where people can say whatever they want.

I never take investment advice from "anonymous" people on the internet, but prefer to look at the data and analysis of people that are not 100% invested in the commodity or asset that I want to invest in.  Wink
6890  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Just a Shady ‘Ponzi Scheme,’ Rants Goldbug Peter Schiff on: May 14, 2019, 05:27:36 AM
Did you expect any other response from someone that makes their living and income on Gold investments? People should ignore comments and remarks that are made by people who have hidden agendas with comments like that. His agenda is clearly to discredit the competition, because if more people start buying Bitcoin, then less capital is available for Gold investments to push up the price of Gold.  Roll Eyes

Peter Schiff hates Bitcoin, because it is a better store of value than Gold at the moment.  Grin
6891  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: Is there any interest for a new wallet that has a time-lock feature? on: May 13, 2019, 08:17:50 AM
Would the goal and motive to use wallets like this be for people who do not have the self discipline to hoard their coins or is this specifically done for people who are goal driven?

Locking in "wealth" is risky, because you never know how your circumstances might change in the future. You might run into health problems or someone might pass away and then your income are halved. This is why I never deposit cash into fixed deposit accounts and rather prefer instant liquidity assets and investments.  Wink
6892  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Has anyone else experienced this with Stake.com?? on: May 13, 2019, 07:50:34 AM
I get this on computers with slow bandwidth and in certain browsers. The latent cache in some browsers does not adjust the balance under certain conditions. < I just refresh the website and the correct balance is shown>

Give us some more information, like what browser you are using and if it is the latest version and what internet connection you have, for us to give you better support and advice.

6893  Bitcoin / Press / [2019-05-12] ‘Facebook Coin’ Will Be More Like Bitcoin Than Starbucks Rewards, S on: May 13, 2019, 07:13:37 AM

Under the code name “Project Libra,” tech journalists say, Facebook, Telegram, and Signal are devising their own digital token, which would allow their billions of users to exchange money across the Internet, through their payment systems.

... That remains to be seen because I am sure that this future coin can also have its own flaws and it all depends on how the marketplace can react into it.

It's biggest flaw is the centralized authority that are behind it. Facebook are one of the largest centralized information gathering service for governments and now they want to add people's financial data and spending habits to that.

Would people care about financial privacy? I doubt it, if you look at all the crap that are shared on social media and how people whore their personal <private> life on Youtube for likes and views.  Roll Eyes
6894  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: New billionarie list if bitcoin exploded on: May 13, 2019, 07:01:47 AM
I would be more interested in knowing how many bitcoins are owned by Patrick M. Byrne and also Overstock, because they have already shown that they are early supporters of this technology and that they are hoarding Bitcoin & Silver & Gold.  Cool

There are also loads of early adopters that are not listed and these people might be hoarding more coins that are listed, but they just stay in the shadows to avoid the limelight and the security problems that might occur, if they revealed their Bitcoin ownership.  Tongue
6895  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: The "Church"(call it whatever you want) of Bitcoin on: May 13, 2019, 06:53:07 AM
So you want a religious "Currency" war, where the most powerful government backed "Fiat" church can launch a crusade against Bitcoin followers and wipe them from this planet?

Bitcoin is a currency, not a religion and it should stay that way, because many people have died senseless deaths over centuries, because of religious wars.  Angry

*I know this is not a serious discussion, but people might just be stupid enough to consider this.  Roll Eyes
6896  Economy / Gambling / Re: FreeBitco.in - Contest with $30,000 in GUARANTEED PRIZES now live! on: May 13, 2019, 06:45:30 AM
@TheQuin, hey I want to know how toget back my address again? Here is the chronology, today I want to make a deposit on freebitco.in, usually I always generate new address but today when I generated it, I acccidentally click something and it is gone by now and I can't generare a new one after 24 hours. I want to ask if this even possible to get back or is this some bug?

At the bottom of the deposit window, it says OLD DEPOSIT ADDRESSES. Click there and it will be displayed in that list.

wouldn't the winner ID still be needed to buy and register the car?
or the intermediatory would use its company name to finalize the transaction and transfer the ownership?
either way, there is no way a winner can claim this car without providing ID, am I right?
so... the easiest and safest way for both the winner and wetsuit would be thru BTC reward

Buying through a company is the simple bit. If the winner wants to drive it on the road then they'll have to register it according to their local laws. For expample, if someone in the UK wins it and decides they just want to use for track days then they don't need to.

Most of us would not even be able to pay the insurance on a car like that

That reminds me of when I was 18 I went to the motor show at Earls Court in London and entered a competition to win a Ferrari. A few days later I started thinking about how much it would cost to run that thing so I looked up the insurance cost and found it was double my annual salary.
It really depends on the circumstances of the winner if they can afford to take the Lambo or choose the Bitcoin alternative.

Yes, I think it boils down to an investment decision. You can take the Lambo, park it in storage for a few years and hope to sell it for a massive profit when it becomes a vintage model or you take the BTC and hope that it might go to the Moon with more profits.

The BTC option just gives you more freedom to cash out some and diversify into other investment options. You can still buy a less expensive car that you can afford and have some spare change.  Roll Eyes
6897  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What Satoshi Sees, What You See, Am I missing something? on: May 13, 2019, 06:26:52 AM
Can you really blame people for being greedy? Just look at the price history since 2009 and show me one person out there that would not like a massive return on their investment like that. A break like that would seal most people's future and take them out of poverty and middle class, if they can cash in on a profit like that.

The people sharing Satoshi's vision, live in countries where they are forced to use "centralized" payment options and where alternative payment options are needed the most.  Wink
6898  Economy / Gambling / Re: FreeBitco.in - Contest with $30,000 in GUARANTEED PRIZES now live! on: May 12, 2019, 08:43:12 PM
This is literally a 200 thousand dollar lottery, not a car lottery to be honest.

Well 200k of USD has a variable worth to it, generally its worth less every year.   Where as everybody has fixed in their mind the image that sells a Lambo and knows its worth is quite fixed as a new car delivered to them.

There is a more substantial outline of value in the car rather then the cash, however I agree the cash is more practical almost always.   That interest option and immediately gaining a benefit from the 200k win is very nice, its completely boring vs the idea of slipping into a Lambo to go for a drive instead of your normal humdrum life Tongue

Personally though it might not make sense, I would prefer to be forced to receive the car.   Then I have no choice but to enjoy driving a very nice car.   The money if I get it would probably be used sensibly, into a pension for a rainy day and so on

Why take the risk that the car could get damaged in transit or even worst destroyed if it was shipped to you. My friend work in a harbour and he has told me bad stories of damage that was done to containers and freight ships on the open sea.

Most of us would not even be able to pay the insurance on a car like that, so it is not a prize that comes without an additional monthly expense for car insurance.  Roll Eyes We have not even discussed the the price for parts on expensive super cars like this.  Roll Eyes Tongue
6899  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Ponzi / Pyramid Scheme / Bubble on: May 12, 2019, 08:20:22 PM
I got to know about bitcoin from popular global ponzi scheme MMM.. Bitcoin facilitated their ability to engaged the global ponzi community and get more people to participate no matter the geographical position.

Yes, but do you think MMM would not have happened if it was not for Bitcoin? These Ponzi schemes has been around much longer than Bitcoin has been around, so Bitcoin is not the reason for their existence. Scammers are always finding better ways to commit their crimes and Bitcoin is just another method of payment for them to do that.

If Bitcoin was not around, people would have used Bank transfers or PayPal or Diners Club cards etc... they always find a way to commit these crimes.
6900  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Could this pump be attributed to Justin Sun or Binance? on: May 12, 2019, 07:11:04 AM
The $40 000 000 will not make such a big difference in the price, I think there are something "bigger" behind this whole push.  Huh  Justin's generosity is pocket money for him and I think it has something to do with his BitTorrent token that he launched on the Binance exchange. <Late payment for services rendered>  Roll Eyes

In any way, whatever his reasons are, it sparked some new interest in Bitcoin and it helped to raise some confidence after the hack occurred. Binance also announced that they are willing to cover the losses, so it's not a big deal.  Wink
