6921  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Do we Need Altcoin? on: September 03, 2018, 06:33:03 PM
You can't stop people from creating their own projects/Cryptocurrencies. If someone has a good crypto idea he is convinced would work but nobody believes in it, not even the developers of established Cryptocurrencies., the only option left for such person is to create a new Altcoin and try out the idea. If his idea works many users will join his project. If it fails, many will leave. This is how things should be in my opinion otherwise we will have a boring World full of dictators, mobs,  slow development, underdevelopment, ignorance, poor services, etc
6922  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Scarcity doesn't always mean value on: September 01, 2018, 06:25:38 PM
I do not think this is true.
If utility is that important then Copper shouldn't be cheaper than Gold or Aluminum cheaper than Copper. Gold is mostly use for decorative purposes. Copper and aluminum has more utility.

These are what matters most:

Attractiveness
Uniqueness
Rare
Long lasting (gold is corrosion resistance)
Durability

6923  Other / Serious discussion / Can this feature solve most of the forum problems? on: September 01, 2018, 01:16:53 PM
There are complaints by some about the quality of the forum. They think people with poor grammar shouldn't be here. others think nothing is being done about low quality posters and spammers. I do not agree with those who wants people banned or punished for poor grammar.  I live in a society where people with poor grammar skills (whether in English or in their native languages) are usually the creative/science oriented ones (I don't know about other societies). Kicking them out wl be very unfair. There are lots of this people on Facebook, Twitter and other public platforms but you will hardly notice them because of how the platforms are structured.

Here is what I think may be wrong.

The forum is too conjested. We do not have much choice on what we see on here. Sometimes It feels like Posts/Contents are forced on us... In real World, you can easily avoid people with certain behaviors but you cannot do this on the forum. It is as if we are crammed together in a small space. This can be very traumatizing to the "sensitive ones".

Why don't we try the "Follow" Feature?

With the "Follow" feature, only posts from people you follow will be more visible to you. The feature should be optional. If you want more posts from people you follow to be visible you can simply adjust it on your settings. If you want post from random people to be less visible you can adjust it. You can always  adjust the settings to increase or reduce the visibility of certain posts.
I would like followers to be anonymized If this idea is considered — I don't really need to know who my followers are.  I think this will encourage us to follow lots of people for more quality posts.

6924  Economy / Economics / Re: Why do older people like investing in Gold/Silver? on: September 01, 2018, 11:21:44 AM
They probably know what you don't know?
Before people begin to make it look like old people things, don't forget they are more like cryptocurreny.

I'd rather invest in long lasting foods though. I don't know why people don't encourage this sort of investment. Maybe due to the moral aspect? Or it could cause lots of volatility in the price of the foods?
Precious metals won't really serve any useful purpose in disaster areas. Foods that last long (5yrs minimum),  are lightweight, well dried, filling and nutritious, will do.

6925  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Do you still believe in the cryptocurrency market? on: August 30, 2018, 10:29:03 PM
Depends on why you are here. If becoming rich is your main motivation
* you will easily get scammed
* feel dumped on
* wake up in complete shock
etc..

Have a goal — What aspect of your society would you love to see decentralized? Learn Blockchain programming, Cryptography and General programming. Try to see that you solve the problem yourself and no day will be boring in crypto world.
You like  Blockchain/decentralization and Transparency? If no, you may have hard time coping in this world.
6926  Economy / Economics / Re: Bitcoin holders will have to pay their tax? on: August 30, 2018, 10:14:14 PM
How will they even know you own Bitcoin? Bitcoin is only  pieces of  information on decentralized ledger. They'll have to break into people's homes to take the private keys and confisticate the Bitcoin ( Even private keys can be well hidden.). There is little they can do about people's  Bitcoin. Except you keep Bitcoin on centralized exchanges or wallets.

People normally get taxed when  Bitcoin is exchanged for fiat or something? Unless they find a humane way to tax holders, we won't surrender.
6927  Economy / Economics / Re: Does engaging with bitcoins put you at risk? on: August 30, 2018, 08:28:35 PM
It is not as risky as government controlled VIRTUAL CURRENCIES.
It is much more valuable to me than those dangerous currencies. Hopefully it will be possible to use Bitcoin without the Internet which will make it safer than physical currencies.

Quote
Bitcoins are not officially a currency that you can just see in a certain country, that are being utilized and used. So, is dealing with bitcoins and other things related to it also puts us in a risky gamble

Bitcoin is a peer-to-peer currency. It doesn't necessarily has to be recognized by governments. What matters is how valuable it is to people.
6928  Economy / Economics / Re: What should we focus on more? Demand or Supply? on: August 30, 2018, 08:08:04 PM
Hoarding is not a thing n Bitcoin World to be honest. People are holding or saving their Bitcoins, not hoarding them and it is very much encouraged because it helps the network. Holding  makes Bitcoin more valuable and less affected by inflation. This is what we all want, right?

Bitcoin is not commodity by the way— Holding does not cause the shortage of Bitcoin. Hoarding is mostly applicable to commodity. The so called hoarding of Bitcoin is very much encouraged.
6929  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Will Bitcoin Accelerate the End of Fiat Currency? on: August 30, 2018, 07:55:28 PM
Cryptocurrencies especially Bitcoin were not created to replace fiat. They are even meant to be pee-to-peer currencies unlike fiats.  Do not forget that fiats exist in digital form, so they can actually be programmed to do what Bitcoin does.
If the use of bittorent did not stop the use of controlled alternatives why would Bitcoin stop the use of fiats? I am really not in support of the destruction of fiat. They can all exist side by side.
6930  Economy / Economics / Re: Cryptocurrency or Stock Market? on: August 30, 2018, 07:24:18 PM
Cryptocurrency market by far. Stock Market is over-controlled by  governments (the politicians, dishonest and influencial people,) It has very little transparency. Forget all you see on the surface. Things can be easily manipulated by opaque individuals who run things.

I wish cryptocurreny market is more decentralized, transparent and less influenced by few individuals... which is the why we need few centralized exchanges and more decentralized ones
6931  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: What will happen to all other coins if,bitcoin will die? on: August 30, 2018, 07:18:27 PM
It is almost impossible or not that easy for Bitcoin to die completely especially via market factor (maybe by serious hacking of the network or something). But if this happens, there will definitely be a big panic and most coins will crash seriously (only few coins will have zero values though). Those with good use case like Steem will still retain some healthy values.
6932  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Exchange it or Hold it on: August 30, 2018, 06:40:58 PM
Selling everything at once is not a good idea in my opinion . Why receive and sell everything if you do not believe in the technology? It kind of unethical.
This kind of people are probably why the  creation of worthless token is attractive to some. This creators can even automate this stuff and make a lot of money from them as long as people are willing to receive anything called coins or tokens.
6933  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: The Lost Coins and Its Contribution on: August 30, 2018, 06:26:37 PM
Quote
As Satoshi Nakamoto said "Lost coins only make everyone else's coins worth slightly more. Think of it as a donation to everyone."

I always imagine him saying this with an evil grin, lol.
I get the point though. Other valuables such as precious metals and fiats are sometimes lost by people too. Only the deflationary ones makes the holders richer.
It is important to note that long-term holders also contribute to the value of Bitcoin. The idea is pretty straightforward —There will always be holders that contribute to the value Bitcoin. Bitcoin is bought and held everyday by people which keeps increasing the value.
6934  Economy / Speculation / Re: How to predict whales manipulation on: August 30, 2018, 06:18:59 PM
This kind of market is controlled by few manipulators. There is little we can do about the situation. The only way to benefit from it is to buy some cheap coins when the market falls and sell when it rises.

Quote
... I’m really fed up to see some big red or green candles without any reason ..

This is the sad situation we find ourselves in. It is really hard to predict things now. The market rises and falls according to the wishes of few who are probably feeling like gods now.
They are trying to drive away speculators or to have everything under their control?
6935  Economy / Speculation / Re: What do you Think the True Value of Bitcoin Is? on: August 30, 2018, 05:52:46 PM
$7000/$15,000 is the right value for me. I honestly never liked those huge price increases. Things need to move slowly and predictably like before.
The extreme and unnecessary predictions should be discouraged to be honest. It is dangerous and unsustainable.

Which would you rather have, a stable Bitcoin or a slow and steady moving Bitcoin?  I hope the current condition of the market has taught some good lessons. The greed has to stop.
6936  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: HOW CAN DUMPING BE PREVENTED on: August 30, 2018, 04:20:16 AM
Sell or airdrop only to people who care about the project? (how do you even identify such people?)
Prevent people from dumping all at once?
Give rewards or bonuses to holders?
Incentives people to hold?
Only airdrop tokens or coins to people who would hold long-term?
6937  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: What is the Best Trading Platform for Newbies? on: August 30, 2018, 04:16:14 AM
Do you know how to trade? If no then you should consider experimenting on a demo account before trading with real cryptocurrenies or you watch some trading videos on youtube . Here are couple of trading sites that allow learners to trade without making deposit.

6938  Economy / Economics / Re: Government should implement blockchain technology to prevent corruption. on: August 30, 2018, 03:56:07 AM
Exactly. And It is actually doable, specifically on public Blockchain . It's being tried on Virtual level (Virtual nation) and it's showing lots of promises.

It can be used in elections, for security agencies, biometric schemes, budgeting,  welfare schemes, insurance sectors, health sector etc...

Most politicians will oppose the idea though. There has to be some kind of pressure from citizens and the media.
6939  Economy / Economics / Re: Are all cryptocurrencies destined to be store of value in the end? on: August 28, 2018, 05:44:58 PM
Bitcoin /Cryptocurreny will still continue to be what it was meant to be in spite of how some think it should be . It is peer-to-peer payment network and also deflationary currency otherwise it wouldn't have the fixed supply.

If you ask me which virtual currency I'd rather use for online payments and as Store of Value I would choose Bitcoin 100% . Only problem is that cryptocurreny is not widely adopted by Merchants.

Lest I forget, I noticed that people spend Bitcoin more in bullish market than in bearish market. We should put this into consideration.
6940  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Why Banks on blockchain? on: August 28, 2018, 05:30:10 PM
Well, Bank as we know it is incompatible with Blockchain ideals. Their own kind of Blockchain would probably be the so called Private/closed Blockchain, which makes no sense.
I think they are also trying to adapt to the current reality. In my opinion, there is no way they can compete with with the true Cryptocurrencies unless unduly favored by governments as usual.
