One day!!!!

If we go with this image, trust me you are not unlucky if you have "that much bitcoins " (on the right).  Tongue

https://www.indiatvnews.com/amp/lifestyle/news/sonam-kapoor-cannes-2014-red-carpet-looks-pics-2618.html

Yeah given a choice I prefer the girl on the right. At 65 and watching women age for a while I would bet the girl on the right stays better for more years. Just a general observation of body types.
6942  Other / Meta / Re: Top 200 Active Members who have earned most Merits but have sent 0 sMerits on: August 09, 2022, 10:38:04 AM
realr0ach is currently a silver bug (he prefers silver over gold) who thinks cryptocurrency as a whole is a bunch of crap. Lately, he hangs out in the WO thread. I doubt that he will ever give out any merit to anyone. Cheesy You'd have better luck getting a merit out of Proudhon.

I think Proudhon gave me a merit  Grin

Unless my memory is really fuckedup .
6943  Other / Meta / Re: Merit source observations on: August 09, 2022, 03:20:09 AM
A lot depends on how busy you may be with real life shit.

I have about 1000 unreleased merits

I have also given about 4600 merits to people.

Since Last july the merits I have not given away are gaining..

Ie I had about 400 merits Last july 2021.

my bro-in-law developed dementia We found out on August 1 2021.

He lives 90 miles from me. A long drive as most is driving in NYC.

Say 2 ½ to 3 hours each way.

So his sister and I drive back and forth. A lot that is six hours lost to bitcointalk each time.

I say six hours because going online at his house while we are there does not happen So If I leave at 6am arrive at 9am do what is needed at his home leave at 8pm and get home at 11 pm I spent 17 hours off bitcointalk but I likely would have spent 6.  Multiply by 50 trips is a loss of 300 hours the last year on bitcointalk.

So I built up my merits and smerits from 400 to 1000.

the next year god willing I will be able to do more here and lower my merits again.

I cant be the only merit source that got busy last year and gave less then the normal amount.

So I am just saying maybe its not much of an issue when people do this.
6944  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: mine a Bitcoin on: August 09, 2022, 12:09:12 AM
if you go to viabtc.com they tell you what 1th  of

mining gear earns daily.

a hi end btc miner mines at 100th

so the rate today is 0.00000433 btc for 1 btc or

0.00043300 btc for a 100th machine daily. please note this is subject to change mostly is gets smaller every 2 weeks.

so your 100th gets 0.00043300 btc in a day which would be

0.00433000 btc in ten days if the daily rate stays steady.

and you 100 th miner gets

0.04330000 in 100 days after one hundred days passed that rate of 0.00043300 for your 100 th machine would likely have dropped to who knows maybe 0.00040400 a day

so hundred days 0.04330000
2 hundred days 0.08070000
3 hundred days 0.12000000 days

so a state of the art 100 th miner will do close to 0.120 btc in 300 days
mere guess that .120 btc is correct.

so for that 1 btc in 1 year you need maybe 8 machines doing 900 th each.

merely an estimate guess etc but ball park.
6945  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: new Apollo miner keeps disconnecting from WIFI on: August 08, 2022, 08:39:54 PM
howdy!
I bought a new Futurebit Apollo miner, and set it up this past week. Seems to be working good, except once every 24-26 hours or so, it disconnects from my WIFI, and I have to manually reconnect it (it won't automatically reconnect like other devices in my house).
Any thoughts on how to fix this?

use an eth cable.

wi fi and mining are not very friendly

WTF???
It seems Elon doesn't know about the Lightning Network!

Quote
Elon Musk, the famous billionaire and Tesla CEO, compared Dogecoin and Bitcoin in an interview recently with the Full Send Podcast. The ardent supporter of Dogecoin said the meme coin has more transactional capacity than BTC.

https://crypto.news/elon-musk-says-dogecoin-can-handle-more-transactions-compared-to-bitcoin/

He is right you are wrong.

LN is actually pos

and BTC is now a hybrid coin

While I will be attacked for saying DOGE has a far better 50 100 150 200 year viewpoint due to its decreasing inflation plan vs BTC depending on only transaction fees and then hurting transaction fees with LN setup.
It is why I hodl 2 coins

BTC and Doge

at 65 I will not live to see Doge surpass BTC,

but  My guess is in 2077  Doge will show it's decreasing inflation method is better then btc and the LN net work

I think BTC should have put the LN off and that the LN is what damaged the spring 2021 65k+ numbers.

But I digress.

Just hodl Doge and BTC you will do well.

Everyone hate 9 to 5 job but still we have to do that. Crypto is a new way to earn income. Thanks to crypto I can now afford a better life style.

https://twitter.com/imodernman/status/1556018554918649856?t=fLbKurAyY-5lMkIKTs54Zw&s=19 Smiley

Well I'm happy not to live in the USA.
We get way more vacation with a regular job. Also job security is way better. Sick leave no matter how long you need to recover, etc.

Americans think they live in the most free country in the world but that's simply not true.

Yet average GDP for every EU country except for Luxemburg is still lower than that of the USA.

Certain job sectors in fact across Europe such as IT pay pittance salaries compared to the USA. Sure, you only have private healthcare in the States but it is also of a much higher quality.
Many Europeans need to flock exactly to the States to get experimental cancer treatments simply not available in Europe.

I think you are pretty much the definition of an ignorant European who stupidly have outsourced energy security to a country you for some bizarre historical reason hate and you have also installed countless layers of government thinking it will protect you from trouble where in fact it is turning into a similar political setup that Adolf Hitler wanted to achieve: Germany in control and no one else gets a say. When someone wants to leave said political system such as the UK you shame them and completely forget it was them who saved your asses from all speaking German or Russian by now.

It is also my understanding that the once secure job market in the likes of The Netherlands now with year only contracts is nowhere near as safe as it used to be. Plus the constant mumblings over ditching the mortgage tax break would make the average worker / mortgage payer much poorer if it were to go.

It's all relative. Cost of living in the US is insane. Job security is non-existent. And salaries are low if you take cost of living into account.

The healthcare argument is a stupid one. USA ranks 18th in the world and my little postage stamp of a country ranks higher. For experimental treatments of cancer the Netherlands, Germany, the UK and France rank the highest in the world.

And you can have the best in the world but who cares if you can't get access to it. If I get cancer, I get helped. You get cancer it's a big fuck-you if you can't pay hundreds of thousand dollars.

Edit: I'm in the Netherlands and here you have a 1 year contract. They can extend it twice and then they must give you a permanent running contact. It's been like this for a long time.
But a full contract is usually a negotiation point. Haven't heard that anything changed, but it doesn't affect me as a contracter.

European countries always dominate the top 10 index, better quality of life.

https://happiness-report.s3.amazonaws.com/2022/WHR+22.pdf

I've visited the US a couple of times, found it to be feeling pretty un-free, e.g. because of extreme poverty you see, because of the many silly rules e.g. not being able to say shit on TV or radio or not being able to get a beer without something to eat, but also because of the infrastructure which restricts you from movement if you don't have a car (e.g. if you're a kid or drunk). Also the harsh punishments for little things like drugs. And also the hard time people get for being themselves, you see a lot less diversity on the street unless you go to a hotspot like San Fransisco or New York.

Maybe Bitcoinbunny should visit the NL sometime. If you like freedom I'm sure you'll like it!

Yeah I am a USA Queens NYC born person. But I spent 5 years in US Navy and I can easily say a shit ton of Americans have no idea how nice other countries are.

My favorite country is the Island of Mauritius

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mauritius

We spent 2 weeks on an extended shore leave a simply wonderful spot.

Australia was also pretty good spot. (Won 5200 Aud at a racetrack) pretty good money for 1980.

Should have seen the look they gave me at the airport when we went to cash the 5200 Australian into I think 3700 usd.

They said to me where is your passport I said I don't have a passport. Their faces dropped in shock. I said don't worry its cool I have a US Military photo id. they all laughed. The cab driver that took me to the racetrack that they came back to the track at the end of the day he bought I would be lucky. he was right. I gave him a really good tip 300 AUD I wonder how many times he told that story to his friends in Sydney, Australia.

I have also been to Canada very often it is nice. Mexico a lot when I was in SanDiego

Mexico reminds me of NYC you need to know someone to enjoy and be relatively safe.

As an aside

I could rant about the defects of the USA I did a few days ago on this tread.

Do not get sick/disabled in the USA when you are young.

Do not get dementia in the USA I am dealing with my 71 year old bro-in-law he is very healthy except for the dementia.
Ie this is likely to be a 5-10 year issue. Two people me and my wife are not out to fuck him.
The rest of the relatives would fuck him and take what they could get. He never married has no kids , but there are 40 cousins in the area.
I can tell you the system of laws for a person like him are terrible if the family is honest and is not looking to hurt him.
His sister (my wife ) is struggling with dealing with him. It takes months of paper work to get shit done.

End of rant.

But that was a lovely day at the track. Horse's name was Tall Piper.

Hit on Win Place  and trifecta.

6950  Economy / Economics / Re: How much food can you store for survival?3 on: August 08, 2022, 03:10:54 AM
I think that this varies from one country to another. Here in my country, for example, people tend in crises to stock up on basic foodstuffs such as bulgur, rice, wheat, beans, chickpeas, lentils, flour and sugar. These are the main materials here in my country. I think this is due to the different dietary habits in each country.
Also, you forgot the issue of children. If there are children, you need to add more quantities, because every family consists of at least a husband, wife and two children, so you need to add some other items related to children.

dried beans
dried chickpeas last a long time.
dried meats work.
6951  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: 3050 mining on: August 07, 2022, 09:52:31 PM
I am looking for RTX 3050 mining performance, is anyone using this graphic card for mining any crypto coin at all.

It has the same performance of a AMD Rx 470/480/570/580 for most` of the coins that this card is able to mine profitably, sometimes with a nice Bios mod the Rx versions do like near 3 Mhsh more than this card in Ethash and Etchash algorithms. This clearly means that this is one of the worst cards for mining nowadays and even when it first came so it was,and it mostly geared toward gamers.

For just 50-100 dollars more than the price of the 3050 you can buy the 3060 card which makes almost double the performance compared to this card.

I got a few 3060 cards for under 400.

three in all for 1085.

they do 47+47+47= 141 mh and burn about 330 watts.

I have seen a few doing just over 50 mh and 115 watts

6955  Economy / Speculation / Re: I do believe that Bitcoin will be more scarce than gold on: August 07, 2022, 02:04:42 AM
That's inevitable, if it ain't already the most scarce asset. At some point in the future, the inflation rate will drop to 0; perhaps even lower than that, because of lost bitcoins.

But, it's not the scarcity, alone, that's making it valuable. It's the inflation rate's predictability. With a quick gettxoutsetinfo, there are about 19,110,092 BTC. Each block increases the supply by 6.25 BTC, and a year is equivalent to about 52,500 blocks, which increase the supply by 328,125 BTC. Therefore, the annual inflation rate (of the last 52,500 blocks) is (328,125/19,110,092)*100 = ~1.71%. And I can do this for any year.

Good luck on finding another asset with such characteristic.

actually doge will never reach 0% inflation but it gets lower % wise every year.

ie

year 1 x doge
year 2 2x doge 100% inflation
year 3 3x doge   50% inflation
year 4 4x doge.  33% inflation
year 5 5x doge.  25% inflation
year 6 6x doge.  20% inflation

year 10 10x doge
year 11 11x doge 10% inflation

.
.
.
year 25 25x doge
year 26 26x doge 4% inflation

.
.
.
.
year 50 50x doge
year 51 51x doge 2% inflation

.
.
.
year 100 100x doge
year 101 101x doge 1% inflation

.
.
.
year 200 200x doge
year 201 201x doge 0.5% inflation

I would argue that is better than btc
I would argue that in 50 years people will see this and btc could be in trouble.
I would argue that LN network may make it worse and kill off mining of btc.
as it is btc is not pure pow it is pow and pos mix due to LN network.

and yeah I know LN means lightening network and i don’t need to say LN network.

Now do I think the value of btc ever exceeds the value of gold maybe.

but if I were five years old and not 65 years old I would want both BTC and Doge

not just Btc
not just Doge.

I would also take silver as I prefer it over gold.

To all braiins + charges a fee.

and braiins + allows superior underclocking for many

models of bitmain gear.

So if you have gear that runs hot and needs to be downclocked braiins + and regular braiins are likely a better choice then stock bitmain gear.

If you are running any type of  s9 at 16 th you are not underclocking that s9

you are better off with bitmain firmware.

since you are pushing the gear hard and it works with high power use.

so op has some accuracy in the case of pushed s9 gear of any type.

but the s9 gear has passed its life for many miners.

i use some braiins and some braiins plus with s17 and t17 gear and it keeps my gear cool for the summer.

so the op is completely missing that point.

also the op is obviously not new and is hiding behind a newbie account.

so to talk about a lack of transparency is sad why not just post who you are instead of hiding behind your keyboard.

What kind of perversion is that?
Shows something dark in the american psyche, imho.

It's no "Three days of the Condor", which was a very good movie made in mid seventies and has some similarities, but by no means parallel.

The darkness was always in america.
started in 1776 as it said we want freedom yet it kept slavery.

some where in the bible there is something about building on a rock vs building on sand.

build on a rock it is stron and lasts build on sand it is not that good of a foundation.

I am a menu guy one from column a and one from column b  politically

i am pro abortions
i am pro death penalty
i am anti illegal immigrants
i am pro health care for all.

those four items above make me an enemy to the far left and the far right.

i suspect i am not alone but much as tricky dick nixon would say the silent majority needs to speak.

an example of that just happened in Arkansas when a far right religious state voted 60% to 40% to keep protecting abortions.

I could likely rant for hundreds of pages of what to do in america 🇺🇸 but I won’t

on guns

every usa citizen gets a two shot old school shotgun at 18.

they get a two week course on safety.

and they get a three day interview on their sanity.

why because the constitution in the gun rights bill says guns are a right to all for the purpose of a well regulated militia .

at 21 you get  a 5 shot pistol with a welded chamber. same idea on training and psychology checkups.

lastly at 25 if you were a good boy/girl  he/she whatever you can talk about the good guns.

So every gets to have a gun unless they fail training and psych interviews.

and the second part of the constitution a well regulated constitution is honored as much as the right to bare arms part is.

this would make me an enemy of the far left and the far right once again.

but as i lay in bed in pain from an
hernia operation i don’t care and will post this.

excuse typos and punctuation as I said I am in a mode.

full disclosure I do legally possess

a bullet proof vest and two shotguns.

which is enough for me.

So if I buy 1 a month that takes 3000 and leaves 3000 cash.

a year later

I have 12 90th units  added to the mine.
I have 3600 cash.

even with terrible 600 day payoff for the 3000 dollar 90th avalon a1246
Keep in mind those 12 miners might also multiply their resale value to a price higher than what you paid for them new - as the Bitcoin price moves up and the gear gets more expensive.
I remember just a few short months ago top of the line miners going for $10k+ USD from third party sellers, which are now available directly from the original manufacturers for less than half of that.

I'd be interested to know whether companies like Canaan increased their prices during that period as well or if the units were simply sweeped up by scalpers and resold with 100% profit.

its a bit of both.

most asic builders adjust upwards somewhat. when profits are high

and for that matter adjust down wards somewhat. when profits are low

we will be adding gear on pace of maybe 1 or 2 units per month.

we are loaded with gpus
need more btc gear
and more ltc/doge gear.

I have had good luck with

all six are working since we got them two of each.
