6941  Other / Meta / Re: Please need HELP ! on: February 09, 2018, 12:59:30 PM
hello is there anybody can help me about this before the new system update about the merit ranking i have entered into "full member" and after long not open account i did not realize that my existing posts have diminished and position already installed avatar, so when update the merit system suddenly my rank down to the member by having an avatar, is there a way out to fix this?

This is not possible. If you reached a rank before merit system, you cannot loose that rank.

What happens if you have a number of posts deleted, and that takes you below the required eligibility threshold. I suspect that will drop your rank. If that happened before the merit requirement, then you will need to gain the relevant merit to re-rank.

6942  Other / Meta / Re: Merit system is not working, failed! on: February 09, 2018, 12:37:05 PM
The merit system is in the experimental phase and I think dev and moderators are keeping an eye on it and looking for some exploit in this new system that they established. As  I see its pretty biased on those who are a higher rank than those on the lower rank, the gap in the merit can give and the merit you can get is extremely high and it'll be harder to get merits than you wait for your activity.

I agree with you. Besides why do everyone needs merits for?  Just share your thoughts, do productive replies. and why care about your Rank in Forum?  is it all about business?

Merits aren't just about removing a barrier to promotion. They can help members to determine which of their posts are approved or wanted by other members. If a topic doesn't get any merits or responses, then you should probably drop thst topic imho.

6943  Economy / Speculation / Fear and greed indicator on: February 09, 2018, 12:11:50 PM
CNN has created a new indicator called "fear and greed". It tracks seven indices, and shows the results on a simple meter.
http://money.cnn.com/data/fear-and-greed/

Bitcoin prices seem to be influenced by the same sentiments. Would it be possible to create a fear and greed meter for Bitcoin?

6944  Other / Off-topic / Re: What does your forum name mean? on: February 09, 2018, 11:31:21 AM
I've owned the domain name JetCash.com since 2002, and my intention was to use it to create a system to facilitate payments for domain name registrations for people who could not use the established methods. It has gone through a couple of incarnations, but nothing significant. I decided that Bitcoin was a great payment service, so I used the name when I signed up for the board. I'm currently reviewing the best way to use the name, and I think it will become a review site for a limited number of payment methods.

I put you on ignore because of that dreadful oversized text, and I didn't even start to read it. If you want people to read your posts, then please keep them to a size that can be scanned efficiently.

6946  Other / Meta / Re: Guidance to Merit abuse cases on: February 09, 2018, 11:00:36 AM
I started my own gallery of members begging for merit, and I put these members on ignore. This probably doesn't have much impact on them, as I have no official position on BitcoinTalk, but it's my contribution to the containment of merit abuse. I'm afraid that I am judge and jury in this, and there isn't an appeal process.

Start a new thread and update it with a new names every 3-4 days. Btw that might help fighting that sick beggars.

I really think there are enough Merit threads, and we really ought to move on to the next trendy topic. Smiley

6947  Other / Meta / Re: Do you need merit now to rank up? on: February 09, 2018, 10:57:38 AM
The first thing you need to rank up is the ability, and the will, to read the stickies. Then, if you are going to post information, you need to check that it is correct. The second post in this thread by Silent 17 says it all, and some subsequent posts obviously didn't read this, and are posting incorrect information .

Thanks HabBear.

I hope I can make a small contribution to restoring the forum to the helpful resource it was when I joined.

I've been enthusiastic about Bitcoin since I first read about it, but I've only made limited use of its potential. Thisyear I need to expand my use, and maybe I'll pick up some of the alts that are waiting for me as a result of the arrival of the parallel chain coins like Bitcoin Cash. The tech boards seem to be much cleaner, and that is great news for me.

I do feel a bit of responsibility as a holder of sMerit, and that has led me into some threads that otherwise I would have skipped. One such is the request for a board for Ukrainian members, and I found the comments interesting, and it gave me a bit of perspective about the use of Bitcoin in that country. I even awarded a merit to a post that I thought was well reasoned, and it persuaded me that there should be such a board. Of course I know nothing about Ukraine and the local use of Bitcoin, so maybe I should have kept my nose out of their thread. Smiley

6950  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Status is Newbie on: February 09, 2018, 10:21:28 AM
Please don't post in your local language on the English boards. It is likely to cause you to be ignored by members who have sMerit to give away, and if you are ignored, it will restrict you ability to earn Merit.

It is also unwise to capitalise your post. It makes it much harder to speed read, and it will probably mean your post will be skipped over - again, no possibility of merit awards if this happens.
6951  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Is opening a bitointalk account isn't free now? on: February 09, 2018, 10:13:27 AM
I wanted to create an account but i couldn't make posts and it said that enable posting by sending a little fund. which was 4$ with fee. So, bitcointalk account is not free now?

Thanks you everyone.

Did you make the payment?
You have made a post, so if you didn't pay,  that answers the question.
6952  Other / Meta / Re: Merit & new rank requirements on: February 09, 2018, 10:08:40 AM
What I see is that no one use merit.

As we cant rank up, people are going to pay a lot for high ranked account.. and its not cool.
It just add more values to accounts that reached higher rank before this update. Not rly fair.

Just look at people's merit, they only have the merit based on their previous rank (0, 10 and 100 mostly).

The idea was great, but atm its not working.  Lips sealed

Deleting all ranks would be better  Tongue

There are a lot of members who have received merit. If a member only has the merit based on their current rank, then there is a reason, and it probably indicates that the merit system is starting to work.

6953  Other / Meta / Re: Merit system is not working, failed! on: February 09, 2018, 09:44:12 AM
I have been observed the merit is transferred only by and to Hero and Legendry members. I think merit system is not working for what it was introduced. Only the rank is not upgrading but the posts are as usual.

The tech boards seem to be a lot cleaner, and that's a great help to me. I guess that means that Merit is starting to have a beneficial impact.

6954  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: Why did satoshi develop bitcoin in windows? on: February 09, 2018, 09:18:32 AM
I believe that Bitcoin was created as an experimental project by the Fed, or some other agency of the banking elite. Of course, they would use Windows so that they could check to see what people were doing with their baby.

6955  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: 90% of wallets don't sync. on: February 09, 2018, 08:55:27 AM
I haven't got round to claiming any of my alts yet, but I have started to have some sync'ing problems with Bitcoin core. It doesn't seem to be the core software, which seems to be pretty stable. The problems started when Microsoft forced me to upgrade my Windows 10. Sometimes I have difficulties in finding peers with a decent ping rate, and sometimesI get long periods of no or low activity. I use a variety of public WiFi sources, and have done so for over 3 years, and this doesn't seem to affect the sync'ing ( assuming that port 8333 is open). I'll move over to Linux, and see if that improves things.

I think the problem lies in the updated firewall in Windows, it might be worth checking the error log in that.

6956  Other / Meta / Re: Disadvantage of merit system----- on: February 09, 2018, 08:35:47 AM
I appreciate merit system which really helps good posting. But many of my friends said that due to this merit system the got stuck in a fixed rank that is they had no merit though their posts are good. Not only that I think many new members have to wait for almost 3 month for becoming member. What you people think about the bad side of merit system?

It sounds as if the Merit system is working.
6957  Other / Meta / Re: Merit Sources on: February 09, 2018, 08:33:29 AM
4) Add images if you are able or lots of links; if they are useful even better

This gets you onto my ignore list, so no sMerits for you if you do this.
6958  Other / Meta / Re: Feedback on my awarding of sMerit on: February 08, 2018, 06:02:03 PM
I thought that as a brand new member, he might be cautious about bumping threads, but I take your point. My intention was to encourage a promising looking member to feel comfortable and continue to visit the forum

6959  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Need a little bit of help please on: February 08, 2018, 05:47:41 PM
You might find this site useful. They publish eBooks, and they give away a different one free every day. You can buy the books, but if you want a free one, you'll have to watch the site until the one you want is the free one of the day.

6960  Other / Meta / Re: The reality is 99.9% members can never rank up with the new merit system. on: February 08, 2018, 05:41:40 PM
I find it funny how the hero and legendary members defend the system they got so easily grandfathered in to. The funniest part is that they have yet to score 1 merit on top of what they were gifted. Heh.

And by score I mean earn it, not get it by trading merit with your buddies.

That's pretty insulting, but I understand why you made the post, you seem to spend all your time in the Alt section. Out here in the real Bitcoin world, that isn't true.

btw - I put you on ignore.
