6961  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Diff thread aug 23rd to sept 5th. Picks are closed. on: September 02, 2015, 08:33:49 AM
The push is on for a 6% increase......

Bitcoin Difficulty:    54,256,630,328
Estimated Next Difficulty:    57,429,398,822 (+5.85%)
Adjust time:    After 316 Blocks, About 2.1 days
Hashrate(?):    420,689,840 GH/s
Block Generation Time(?):
1 block: 9.3 minutes
3 blocks: 28.1 minutes
6 blocks: 56.1 minutes

Updated:    2:25 (7.0 minutes ago)

BTC Price: $224

It's going to be very close to 6 I think at this point.   So double or so around my original guess.

If we get another 6 or so next week I will feel almost safe gear is being put out, as I think it will be done internally first with bitmain.  Or I am all wrong and winter miners are plugging in some more.
6962  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: HW 25782 [ 0.0434% ] on: September 02, 2015, 07:22:57 AM
That is still a very very small percentage.  There is nothing to worry about at that level.

Just doing one google search you will find many good articles to explain it.  Here is one that is a tad dated on gear it uses but shows math behind it. - http://cryptomining-blog.com/tag/hw-error-formula/
6963  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: ANTMINER S7 is available at bitmaintech.com with 4.86TH/s, 0.25J/GH on: September 02, 2015, 07:16:39 AM
We really need like a marketplace thread for coupon's.  It's starting to take away from thread.    With the amount asking and drama that comes with some I suggest we make a thread in marketplace (or other if better) and have just deal with coupon's.

I just think this thread should be about the product and not turn into a coupon thread.
6964  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Antminer R1 on: September 02, 2015, 07:14:36 AM
So looks like it's going to have a BM1384 chip in it, part of their use up the old stuff, Global Dominance Strategy? Quote from Jihan Wu

Quote
A router that also mines Bitcoin has been a very long time dream of early Bitcoin miners, and we hope to help realize this dream. This product is…(what people have wanted)

The AntRouter is its final stage of development. The first generation will use the BM1384 chip. Mining bitcoin with the router is a long time dream for the Bitcoin miners. We make it into reality.

So unclear if this is a single chip or more than one? Will of course be an easy change to move it up to BM1385 with increased Hash & lower Power. Not sure that I want a Router from Bitnmain, but it's an interesting alternative to a Stick Miner.

Rich

Sidehack has been able to do an AMAZING job with the BM1384 on his miner.   We can hope Bitmain will follow same strategy of getting the most out of the chip.  We won't know till release I guess on that.

They show a usb on the router.  I really hope it's running something where we can plug other stick miners into this usb.  To make it even more of a lotto type device.  But guess that is another we will see.
6965  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: ANTMINER S4 Discussion and Support Thread on: September 02, 2015, 05:02:54 AM
All of my S4s are sold too, they're leaving my mine tomorrow afternoon.

Any firmware that isn't Oct or earlier has no actual voltage control. The changes you make in the interface do not get applied.

If anyone has an S7 coupon that they don't plan on using, I'd like to have it. Would be greatly appreciated! Bitmain user ID = Prelude

Before the S7 hit's customers I think it's a good time for selling S4's unless you have very cheap electricity.  They honestly are great machines and I LOVE the lcd.  Just walking past you can see hashing rate which is pretty nice.

Only thing that was not fun is I like to provide customers a nice looking miner.  Cleaning the miners took a little time by time I blew it out and got fan's cleaned.  But hopefully customers will be happy with the extra effort.
6966  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: How localbitcoins work? I want to buy something but what should i consider... on: September 02, 2015, 04:59:15 AM
It's like Craigslist but the meets are likely to have a higher risk of incidents or theft because you're buying currency....there's only cash or money at the transaction, it's not like someone's selling furniture. There have been reported thefts from localbitcoins meet-ups.

Be careful. Know the area you're going to. Bring some back up!

If you meet in person do it in a very populated place.  A lot of cell phones can do wifi access points so location is easy to do.   And ONLY bring how much you are selling or amount for how much your buying.

I personally have stuck with exchanges.  I don't care to do in person BTC sales myself.

6968  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: my Antminer s5 mining at 1554 HG/s unbelievable؟ on: September 02, 2015, 04:10:07 AM
Do you mind if I ask a dumb quesiton or two.  I just picked up an Antminer S5 a few days ago.  I set up 1 pool at

https://mining.bitcoin.cz/dashboard/

The first day was great.  I saw regular throughputs at the expected 1.10 to 1.12 th/s.  But then it slowly started to go down to around 500 gh/s.  I rebooted it.  It didn't really do anything.  I upgraded the firmware, and that seemed to help .   .  but I"m seeing that the hashrates are falling, once again.

Here's what I'm curious about.
1) I have a 750W powersupply with 2 rails.  I've read that this is very adequadely powered, but can power cause slow performance?

2) I have the unit in a well-ventilated area.  I don't think heat is a problem, but is that something that typically causes performance problems.

3) I see your mIner Status page has multiple pools set up.  Is it simply that the pool isn't feeding my miner enough work?  Should I find multipe pools as well?  Is that a standard practice.

Thanks for any info and thanks for sharing your screen shots.

Well going down to 500 GH/s do you have a picture to show us of status screen?  It likely is starting with both hashing boards and sounds to be going down to one.

But it will be a little more work and info to know why (assuming that is right).
6969  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: ASIC status [ what's that means ] on: September 02, 2015, 04:02:26 AM
Actually my power source is up to 80 amps and i think it's OK to use for all 3 PSU's, and about the ticket i still have nothing from them until the moment but i'll give a call now and see what will happen ..

Is that number to us support? (I don't have them memorized).  If to US support likely give a call during business hours tomorrow.

What is the power source of 80 amps?  I was guessing 240 (30 amp breaker) or something.  To have 80 solid amps I'm unsure what your using.
6970  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Is it possible to run a Bitcoin Node on a Webhost? on: September 02, 2015, 03:56:56 AM
I would say no. You would at least need shell access and the ISP's TOS should allow you to run other programs which most web hosts don't.

Better get a VPS if you want to run a full node.

HTH

If you use a VPS you for sure could.  Cheapest is if you do linux on most.  Windows on some has extra fee's for license.

But yes you can get a pretty cheap VPS and make a full node.  You also could run one at home on a raspberry pi or something.  Overtime a raspberry pi likely is to be cheaper as so little electricity vs vps costs.
6971  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: ANTMINER S7 is available at bitmaintech.com with 4.86TH/s, 0.25J/GH on: September 02, 2015, 03:52:30 AM
Any spare free coupon for S7?  Smiley Smiley
thank you so much! id: kodokbuduk

So, you're going to spend $1836 on a device, and want a free coupon for a $100 discount... and you go and send me a PM asking for a free coupoun with a straight face?

This guy reeks of the kind that like to get free coupouns and sell them on ebay for $50.... avoid donating at any cost

I don't suggest giving to newer accounts.  Sadly some are looking to profit off of them.  I will be honest I did not even think about selling when I got them.  Not sure if it means I am a nice person or idiot.  Guess it depends on who you ask Smiley

I gave one of mine as a thanks for a member who helped me a lot on 240 install. philipma he really did help alot on that project.  I gave 2 other ones out for free as I thought it was kinda paying back the karma of coupons I had gotten in past.
6972  Economy / Digital goods / Re: Apple iTunes $25/50/100 Gift Cards - Special! on: September 02, 2015, 03:43:50 AM
Are these verified "good" gift cards?  Or are these more of the carded type?

Just a big difference between the two.
6973  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: How Do You Earn Free Bitcoins? on: September 02, 2015, 03:41:03 AM
Im doing captcha solving i earn bitcoin every week and join signiture campaigne the more hinger rank the more you earn.....

do you use bots to help you out?

or are you doing all these manually, it must be super tiring to do only for so little btc though..

The ones he would be solving are one bots cannot do.  They do not pay people to do capatcha on ones that OCR can solve.   It's the ones that cannot be done automatically they pay people.

So he would be doing manually as all others on service.  Its normally a horrible way to spend time as pay per one just is very low.  I don't suggest this way to get coin.
6974  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Cloud Mining - Please help a newbie on: September 02, 2015, 03:38:44 AM
cloud mining is always scam! i am scammed by many cloud minings! stay away from cloud minings!

Care to share more?  What sites were you scammed by and how much did you lose?

You need to research all investments this includes cloud mining.  But there are a very few that are legit.  Sadly yes a vast majority are ponzi's.

its safe to say based on the persons negative experience, he didnt choose the mainstream ones.

eg: hashnest, genesis mining, etc.

usually comes based off not doing enough research.

Only bad thing is the ponzi ones can appear real based off experience.  The first people in ponzi ones normally make ROI.  They don't stop till best for the scammer.

So also look for long term running.  Combine long term positive experience with finding ones that have guaranteed machines, and you are on a good track of finding good cloud mining.
6975  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Did you earn some bitcoin today? on: September 02, 2015, 03:36:08 AM
Today was extremely good to me on some selling miners I was wanting to find new homes with cheaper electricity.   Actually more like few day's as it did take some time.

But finally done with almost all of it.  Just a Dragon 1.5T and C1 Parts machine to do.  Hopefully the miners that found new homes will earn others some BTC Smiley.  So it's a multi person earning BTC off of it.
6976  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: ASIC status [ what's that means ] on: September 02, 2015, 03:32:08 AM
I'm using 3x Bitmain PSU 1600W ..
Actually i'm contacting BITMAIN here : https://support.bitmain.com/questions/pending

@notlist3d
i know you'd like to help very much because you already helped me before, but this time i'm feeling much worry so should i contact them via https://bitmain.zendesk.com/hc/en-us , they're not answering my existing ticket since 6 AM GMT time so please advice ..

i've searched the phone number of BITMAIN warranty and i saw this number : 1-844-248-6246 so do you recommend to call them and ask for solution or they wouldn't help over the phone ?

It would not hurt to call.  Do you know you have the 16 amps powering for all 3 PSU's?

But If  you have a ticket I would ask for a update within ticket.  If you hear nothing then send some emails.
6977  Other / Meta / Re: Ban evasion x2 (Never) , Please Help. on: September 02, 2015, 03:26:38 AM
The main reason we opened this topic is to recover the account if there is any chance.

Thanks for the comments and suggestions, but any forum staff to help us ?

I suggest you PM the admins with an apology, and why you won't do this again. The forum staff usually do not reply to threads like these.

Send a PM to BadBear, he's the one who can unban people.

I suggest he makes 1 single account and does not post anywhere but meta i this thread to show it's him.  It's odd a "friend" doing all of this.   It should be him.

Again most likely wait a month or two and PM admin with appology, and if lucky they unban him.  But he most likely will not get a unbanned account very quickly when it's ban evasion.
6978  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: ASIC status [ what's that means ] on: September 02, 2015, 03:14:09 AM
That's exactly what i'm doing,

PSU 1 connecting blades 1-3
PSU 2 connecting blades 4-6
PSU 3 connecting blades 7-9

beside Extra one 6 PCI-e from PSU 3 to connect the controller ..
i'll post a photo to confirm it by morning because it's still OFF in remote place.

What PSU's are you using?  I did not see this sorry if I looked over.

And not sure how you contacted bitmain.  But make sure to make a ticket over here - https://bitmain.zendesk.com/hc/en-us
6979  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: Power supply on: September 02, 2015, 03:11:19 AM
Both your dryer and oven use 220.
You can run a line off of those plugs for about $50 USD.   Wink
I have gas appliances, but I wonder how much it would cost to run a 220 circuit...

call an electrical contractor get an estimate.

The shorter the line the less it costs.

Also a lot depends on your main box. 150 amps or 200 amps = okay

100 amps = no go.

I would agree completely on getting an estimate.  If you know what your doing you can see how many amps in main circuit breaker, but if you don't know what your doing DO NOT touch it.  It can be extremely dangerous for someone without knowledge and also you can get this info free in an estimate.

I do have advice unplug and hide your miners or at least have them where they will not see.   I had a sub-panel with miners in the room. Asked for just a 240 (30 amp breaker) to be put in with one plug.  The miners scared the electrician off and for less then 100 dollars in parts I got a quote of over 1 thousand dollars.

But I would agree if your house has 100 amp only there most likely will not be enough juice.  I have 200 amp for house and 100 amp for my miner area.
6980  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: ANTMINER S7 is available at bitmaintech.com with 4.86TH/s, 0.25J/GH on: September 02, 2015, 03:02:00 AM
I completely understand the whole "mining is a fun hobby" concept. I think it is/was great fun even if you're not a tweaker geek. I've been ASIC mining pretty much since the start (although I missed the batch 1 Avalons and bet on BFL and bASIC instead, lol). I've quit mining altogether now since the SP20s aren't profitable to run for me anymore. In my dreams, I'd love to have a SFARDS SF100 and an S7 on order... just for kicks. I love shiny new things!

But the fun has really ended for me. The noise, the heat, the astronomical electricity bills, the tanking BTC price, the "never-ending race to beat the difficulty increases with new hardware" has worn me out completely.

Although I'd be back in the race in a heartbeat if the BTC price was above $500 and on the rise! But then new gear would be much cheaper to buy with my BTC holdings. But this low BTC price just kills any desire I have for shiny new toys.

I guess for now I will have to live vicariously through others.   Undecided

True, the fun of mining has been ruined by the huge noise and heat an ASIC miner generates. My approach now is to downvolt and downclock the miners so that they can run on very quiet fans and function as a small heater at no higher than 400W power consumption

The things is you have to evolve with the miners.  Some will not be able to do this with living situation and understandably why.  But I was lucky for summer mining I made a mining area.

This mining area has paid off in gold really.  I think having a nice area where you can handle heat and noise is no issue is becoming bigger and bigger in this game.

And doesn't that kind of defeat the whole reason for home mining... having to build out areas of your home or property to accommodate mining equipment? I used spare rooms and garage (in winter) which was inconvenient enough for me. Lol.

But to each his own, I guess.

To mine in summer is a lot harder then winter mining.  Winter mining I could heat many rooms.  But I figured one time cost and I could run through summer .... and I did it.

I have a garage/work area with lots of space.  So I turned it into a very nice "hobby" miner setup.   The goal was to run through summer and it's almost did that.  So having an area with 100 amps for just mining where sound and heat is no issue is now a nice benefit winter or summer for me.  Granted I know everyone is not going to do this.   But for me it really paid off.
