Has anyone had any experience with Bitmain RMA process? I sent 2 blades back over 3 weeks ago and havent heard anything. Ive dropped a few emails and no response.
I sent them an S2 blade back from the US, via their UPS account. Total travel time was about a week, and I had an email thread that they worked with me in a few times. Your situation doesn't reflect my experience. Where did you ship from, and has the part made it back to them? I sent it back from New Zealand to their China office. I used their account and ive emailed a contact person there, it took them about 10 days to apologize for the delay but doesnt bother answering my rma query, and that was 3 days ago. Speak of the devil.... just got a reply with tracking number for returning parts but over 3 weeks is still a bit long. I agree, but it may not be a trend just yet. Let us know how the new component fairs once you get it back.

I have to following asic status in my S2 on chain 2: Asic status -------- -------- -------- -------- oooooooo oooooooo oooooooo oooooooo
Other chains: oooooooo oooooooo oooooooo oooooooo oooooooo oooooooo oooooooo oooooooo
What does the ------- mean?

Sometimes software reboots don't clear the X/dashes for me, and I have to power it off and then back on to get it back to all Os. SSH to it, do a shutdown -H 0, then power it off for a min or so, then power it back on. M This works for me as well, consistently.

I posted earlier and said my miner seemed to be slowing down but everything looked normal, well it did until I changed pools on it then the number 1 chain seemed to have errors mostly a line of dashes with 3 or four 0's on the end. This morning when I looked there are now a couple of x's in there too.
Any ideas? The card with the errors is running cooler so I guess that's the one that isn't working.
My S2 does this frequently, and I've found that I have to shut the unit down (via SSH), kill the power, allow the PSU to reset, fire it back up, let it run for 10 minutes then restart cgminer (via the miner configuration page, just re-applying settings) to get it to run "smoothly" after I lose a line of ASICs. I still secretly blame the PSU for this, but I don't have an EE degree to back that up with! Overall this device is not as trouble free as it's little brother, and I hope BITMAIN plans on a more stable upgrade path with their new chips. I've tried swapping cards, and can't identify an issue with a specific card, to clarify.

does 1721 seems like a good deal to get a potentially buckled, crippled miner with awful support & 'more virtual coupons' if your rig is a lemon?
Did they finally get this fixed, man?

ye that sux but must say that i had very good experience about after-sale service As have I. No problems, and I've had to deal with them recently.

I have an unusual problem.. I used to be able to tunnel into my S2's via SSH, but now root/admin isn't working as a username and password. It seems to have changed (?). I've tried root/root, admin/admin, admin/root, root/admin.. no dice.
The web interface still works fine with root/root.. I just can't get in via SSH anymore.
How can I resolve this?
It may be time for a reboot. Tried it. Tried powering off and back on. Tried reflashing the firmware.. still no dice. I think I read in Kano's github post for the S2 firmware upgrade he's working on that there was something about SSL not working and changing some files, perhaps that'll work for you: https://github.com/kanoi/cgminer-binaries/tree/master/AntS2 (at the bottom) I'll also take a look at this; thanks Freebit. If this is the solution I'll provide you a good tip Depending on what program you are using, you may need to delete the "known_hosts" file where the S2s ssh key was stored. Some SSH clients refuse to connect if the keys don't match, although it's odd that it doesn't provide you some feedback along those lines. Once you've removed the "known_host" file, you'll be prompted to accept the SSH "fingerprint" that the S2 is providing again. The S2s key may have become corrupt or changed, which is why this might be your issue if removing the "known_hosts" file works for you. To learn more, take a look at how SSH uses keys: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Secure_Shell#Key_management

Didn't even bother removing the lid on the second one, plugged it in and it just worked - straight to 1TH/s again.
Awesome! You should probably crack the lid on the second, just to make sure the cards are in good. Right?

I'm pretty sure that screen command needs to be installed and implemented correctly to display cgminer like screenshot above right. No rush, if it could be done for a future firmware upgrade would be great.
Cheers merv77
I believe (and correct me if I'm wrong, people) that cgminer needs to be compiled with "ncurses" support in order to generate the interface you are wanting. "Screen" allows for textual 'multitasking' in a CLI environment, and is useful for running a CLI-based program in the 'background' on a single SSH session. https://github.com/ckolivas/cgminer (search for ncurses)

In order for the wireless to work properly, I found that you must put the wired IP on a different subnet than the wireless. Since my home wireless router is 192.168.1.1, I had to change my ant's wired IP from default of 192.168.1.99 to 192.168.2.99. This works flawlessly for all 16 S1s that I have using wireless connections.
This is correct, the wired and wireless NICs need to be on separately subnets (192.168. 2.99 on the wireless NIC and 192.168. 1.99 for the wired, as in the above example) for this to work properly. If you still have issues, check your wireless strength, as the device without an antenna has poor reception.

A very welcome back zvisha, great to know your home safe and sound and hopefully rested up a bit. I know what you mean "to get my head back to mining." I'm afraid you will have to hit the floor running. ~Blaise I went to the Israeli Burning Man. It was amazing, but I am afraid I forgot everything I knew about mining Yep, you'll be no good to us for at least a week! I'm glad you had a chance to burn though, it's good for the head.

has anyone managed to resolve the issue of not being able to change the default password from the interface yet?
I'm not positive it's resolvable in this iteration of firmware. Are you wanting to put your hardware on a DMZ?

Not sure if anyone else is noticing this, but my S2 doesn't seem to like the cold. My pool hashrate seems to drop when the boards are mostly below 500 and when I close the door to the room and let them heat up a little, the hashrate increases.
This seems to be opposite to the S1's which seem to run better in the cold than the hot, which probably has to do with the underclocking of the S2.
It sounds crazy, but I'm happy to give it a try. All my blade save one run between 40-48 degrees. I'll (gently) crank down the A/C in the room and see what happens!
