702  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Electrum fee tab on: November 17, 2020, 09:00:08 AM
Hello, I have installed the latest version of electrum wallet, but there is no 'Fee' tab in the preferences? I would like to set manually fee. I missed something?  Huh

It has been moved. You will be able to change the estimation method and the fee rate using a slider once you press "Pay". You can enter the fee rate manually if you select "Advanced" button which is right next to "Amount to be sent:".

703  Local / Polski / Re: Skąd pomysł na nick? on: November 16, 2020, 02:55:53 PM

Can I get a refund? I think I paid 2 BTC for it. Only been used 5 or 6 times total I think.

They are definitely not going to refund you 2 BTC for it. There is a limited two year warranty for individual users, so they even might not replace your device. Nevertheless, you should try contacting their support.
705  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: Ledger - old app & old firmware on: November 15, 2020, 12:51:12 AM
It seems the same but I haven't tried to use it to send or anything..
The price it quotes is very wrong though..

What about the Ledger Manager app? Can you access it to download “Recovery Check”? If you can’t then you will have to try using the Chrome app/Electrum to move your coins before the update. You could also try importing all of your seeds into Electrum, but that would compromise them and you would need to move all the coins stored on those wallets. I would do the former if I were you.
706  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: Ledger - old app & old firmware on: November 15, 2020, 12:03:52 AM
Is it still going to work just like it always did? So I can send all the coin off of it and reset it as new with new firmware?

Why don't you launch it and see if it works? It might work, but Ledger hasn't maintained it for some time now. If it doesn't work, you should still be able to use your Ledger with Electrum.

Think I have the seed, but have a few of them and am not 100% sure which is which or if I even have the right one for it anymore.. Sad

You can download "Recovery Check" app using the Ledger Manager (if the Chrome app turns out to be working for you) so that you can check whether or not you have the correct seed without having to reset the device. You won't have to move your coins before the update if you turn out to have the correct seed.
707  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Restore Ledger Nano X with passphrase (seed) on: November 14, 2020, 03:08:31 PM
what's the difference between segwit and native segwit?

This short article written by Ledger should give you a rough idea. You should be fine with a native SegWit account since more exchanges and services support this kind of addresses now. If you choose native SegWit, you will save more money on the fees, but some people might not be able to send coins to you. You will be able to spend your coins without any problems, though.

[...] I can't only select "Check now", [...] I connect my ledger, enter the pin, it's unlocked, but nothing is happening on the ledger live, and I can't continue.

There seems to be some of kind of connectivity problem between your Ledger and PC. I would try doing something as simple as rebooting the computer. Some other app in the background could be interrupting the connection.
709  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Restore Ledger Nano X with passphrase (seed) on: November 14, 2020, 02:34:34 PM
So I reinstalled Ledger Live. I open it and go to "restore device from recovery phrase", select the nano X device, and the instructions are as follows:

Since you forgot only your Ledger Live password, choose "Skip device setup" instead of "Restore device from Recovery phrase". There is no need to create a new wallet or restore an existing one since your device hasn't been wiped.

711  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: trezor website anti virus on: November 13, 2020, 04:02:15 PM
Is this a false positive?

Yes, don't worry about it. Only 1 out of 80 scanners marked it as suspicious (not even as a threat). If there was something wrong with their website, you would learn about it sooner from here or any cryptocurrency related news site.
712  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: I reset my ledger live app and now I can not restore my bitcoin legacy wallet on: November 13, 2020, 02:11:13 PM
[...] and in my ledger live mobile app but it the mobile app wont allow me to move the coins

Does any error or message appear when you are trying to send those coins? It looks like a wallet with a different seed or passphrase to me.

I also tried restoring my seed in electrum but it balance just shows 0 when I set up a legacy wallet and restore the seed.

You should consider your wallet as compromised now. Once you regain access to your funds, you should move them to a wallet generated with a new seed. You could try modifying the derivation path, but it's very unlikely that you had your coins stored on a different account. As far as I remember, Ledger didn't allow to create new accounts unless the previous one was used at least once.
713  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Electrum as a savings account on: November 13, 2020, 12:29:26 PM
Trezor and Ledger are most popular option, but i would recommend Trezor since Ledger recently tarnish their own reputation (mainly due to database hack & late response managing bug/vulnerability).

Before recommending Trezor, you should always mention the unfixable seed extraction exploit. While it might not bother some people since it's purely a physical attack, everyone should be well informed of that which Trezor clearly doesn't do. The attack can be mitigated by using a passphrase (the seed and PIN still can be extracted) or SD card protection which is available only on the Trezor T.
714  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Simple question - Sending BTC to someone from a local wallet on: November 12, 2020, 08:10:40 PM
So will a new private key and a new address get added to my wallet.dat automatically?

Yes. Also, you won't have to backup your wallet.dat again since the private key for the freshly generated change address will be derived from your master private key which is stored in that file.

If yes then this is not good, I like to label my addresses in a pattern.

You can specify a change address using createrawtransaction. You should be able to specify the same address from which you are sending. If you don't specify any address then the change will be added to the fee.
715  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Simple question - Sending BTC to someone from a local wallet on: November 12, 2020, 07:47:21 PM
What if I haven't specified a change address?

You don't need to. Bitcoin Core generates such an address and sends the remaining coins to it automatically. As I wrote above, in your case, the remaining 0.9 BTC minus the transaction fee would be sent to a new address belonging to you.
716  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Simple question - Sending BTC to someone from a local wallet on: November 12, 2020, 07:13:47 PM
If I have 1 BTC and I I use "bitcoin-cli sendtoaddress " to send 0.1 to someone, is it true that the rest would be charged as fees and I will be left with nothing?

No. By default, the fee will not be deducted from the amount you specify; it will be deducted from the coins available in your wallet.

2 ] If it is then if when I send 0.1 out of 1 BTC, I will be left with nothing right?

Assuming that you had a 1 BTC UTXO, the remaining 0.9 BTC minus the transaction fee would be sent back to your (change) address.
717  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: [ESHOP launched] Trezor: Bitcoin hardware wallet on: November 12, 2020, 06:46:16 PM
You have to install the trezor back-end full node as well and have that connect to the Bitcoin Core full node ... so need to run two full nodes to support one wallet locally ...ok, nah.

You only need blockbook which apparently uses and maintains its own instance of Bitcoin Core, so you don't need to run two full nodes. I asked on their Telegram channel if it was possible to connect an exiting Bitcoin Core instance to blockbook and I got "Yes" without any more details. This config file might be worth taking a look at.

Looks like both Suite and Bridge got updated? Couldn't find anything on the trezor website and I don't really feel like installing some malicious version of the wallet

Yes, they have been updated. You can always check GitHub for new releases if you are not sure. Also, I got an e-mail from them a couple of minutes ago with a link to this blog entry describing Tor support which was introduced in this update.

Could you add "The Lightning Network FAQ" to "Other sources"? There's plenty of useful information there.
