I am not sure how many of the world cup warmup matches will get completed today. One of the friends from Trivandrum (which is hosting the Afghanistan vs South Africa match) told me that it is raining continuously from morning. Just noticed that ICC Men's T20 World Cup Sub Regional Asia Qualifier A is ongoing, with 4 nations participating in the tournament. Apart from Maldives, all the other countries are 100% expat based, so I don't have much interest in the matches. Winner of this tournament will join other 7 teams in regional final, from where the top-2 countries will qualify for the ICC T20I World Cup in 2024. Only the America, Asia and Africa qualifiers are remaining for the world cup in 2024. Other regional qualifiers are already complete (Europe and East Asia-Pacific).

I am not sure how profitable it will be to host the major tournaments in the United States. Whatever benefit that comes from the increased gate collection will be neutralized by decreased viewership in India due to unsuitable timeslots. Staging such tournaments in regions such as the middle-east would be a better option IMO, as the time zone is not too different from that in India. USA is significant because there is a cricket loving expat community with huge purchasing power. But their numbers are not very significant. If the ICC wants to grow the game in the US, then they need to involve the locals as well. They can't solely rely on the expats.

Pakistan Women set a very low target of only 75 run in 20 overs and losing 7 wickets. Batting performance was disappointing and also no player score more than 20 runs. Today's match was a really big joke, to be honest, with such short boundaries 400 was obviously a very normal total for any good batting side to make but yes Ashwin still made it look as if it's a great turning track. I still almost always think that in pressure situations he can prove to be a better spinner the Kuldeep but I think it's the unorthodox action and being a leg spinner that has always helped Kuldeep. Also now because we have two spin all rounders in form of Jadeja and Axar, Ashwin has really been pulled down in that list of eligible players for the squad of WC.

It seem the way both Gill and Iyer are batting today. India might score more that 300 runs for Australia as a target. The current run rate is above 7.5 and I expect it to go above 8 after these two score their individual centuries. Again an excellent batting by Shubhman Gill, he has bee consistent with his bat. England is very strong team but they way Ireland played is quit impressive and have ability to bounce back in last match.
