701  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Is this safe for my crypto wallet? on: October 01, 2023, 01:54:18 PM
I’ve been reading through a couple of sources on the matter, and perhaps it’s related to where you’ve installed the app (the type of memory). Apparently, the permission it’s asking for could be the result of the app needing to access an external device, so I’m wondering if you’ve installed the app on an SD card or alike, as opposed to using the internal memory. It this is so, you could try moving it to internal memory to see if it is still asking you to grant the said permission.

See:
https://commonsware.com/R/pages/chap-scoped-007.html
https://support.google.com/googleplay/android-developer/answer/10467955?hl=en

This certainly the fitting answer to the problem, since the OP said it is a new phone and the permission is targeted to phones with android version 11 and higher it would be it. Also the reason why others with latest android phones aren’t experiencing it is probably because they installed and stored the metamask file on the phones internal storage and OP might have his on the external. So the thing to do is to delete both the file and the app from the external and then install new one, but OP needs to make sure that all new installations are set to be stored on internal storage not on external. Maybe it could work.

The link says it is harmless but even google hasn’t been accepting apps on his play store that wish to have this permission. This kind of cases also sends warning to one to avoid storing large amount of funds on non-airgapped devices
702  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: UEFA Champions League 2023/24 Season on: September 30, 2023, 06:39:55 PM
If we have to predict right now, I think we can actually say that Bayern Munich and Manchester City are probably the strongest to win the Champions League. But we all know that the Champions League is a very competitive competition. So almost anything can happen at any given time.

Bayern Munich might have add Harry Kane to their squad which should actually be ok to mount a challenge but definitely the team is struggling to win games convincingly. Their match against Manchester United was a win but to be they weren’t at their best at all, they could have easily won the match with the kind of football Manchester United are currently playing but they ended up with just a single goal margin and a against a better team they would have lost.

Manchester City would be my choice but even them aren’t the club that won it last season. They won the league last season because of the squad they have but right now the squad doesn’t have such depth again. So i wouldn’t be so confident on them too. My favorite to win will definitely be when the competition gets to knockout stages this way I can access the team and see which has settle down well
703  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Germany League - Bundesliga Prediction Thread on: September 30, 2023, 06:20:03 PM

Leipzig are playing a very defensive strategy after going 2-0 up. Even in the second half, they kept their defense strong. I don't see any attempt to attack from the players of Leipzig. But is it possible to resist a strong team like Bayern Munich? Bayern Munich's attack is very strong. Leipzig should have played an attacking strategy. Then we would have seen many goals in this match. Defensive tactics alone cannot stop Munich's attack.

Harry Kane scored from the penalty spot in the 57th minute of the second half. Sane scored another goal from Musiala's pass in 13 minutes. Now the match is tied at 2-2. Bayern Munich made a great comeback. And now Munich is trying to score the third goal and take the full three points from the match.
Seriously Leipzig sold this match out because you can’t actually be defending when you’re have gone 2 goals up against Bayern Munich. This isn’t the first time they have done this against the league champions and they ended losing. I was expecting to yes be a little bit tighter at the back but to also hold on to the ball and relieve some pressure by keeping possession. The game is tied now but the next 10 minutes looks like Bayern will steal the win just yet again.

Leverkusen had the highest possession of the ball but a few attempts to score a goal as compared to their opponent, they obviously won both halves of the match, having Their first goal in the first half of the game and the second I'm the second half of the game, it's much more impressive that they won a match away which can be considered a plus for them.

The host were so unlucky they couldn't secure a single goal from the game rather they had an own goal which I think brought down their morale, more like one shooting their selves in the leg. Hopefully Mainz will do better in subsequent games as Leverkusen was too much of a good team for them they couldn't have won them regardless of them hosting.
Bayer Leverkusen has actually been used to this possession football and today they kept at, although I would give a little tap on the back to Mainz even though they lost, they created chances but couldn’t convert them and that is one thing that kills a team. Bayer Leverkusen do not actually create more chances but they are very clinical. They had three on target from the total of five shots in the game which shows they are very clinical.

Jonas Hofmann was impressive again and is looking like a steal for Bayer Leverkusen both him and Xhaka have injected confidence in the team. Boniface again without a goal for the second game but his impact was definitely not lacking. I am just in awe of this Alonso’s work at the moment
704  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin and gambling which one has done you more harm on: September 30, 2023, 11:24:40 AM
When we gamble what we are looking after or expecting is money which is [profit] and when buy bitcoin and invest what we are looking after is [profit] and when you so many people they skip bitcoin investment to gamble and some uses very big amount of money to gamble whereas the same amount of money will achieve some fraction in bitcoin investment.

Although almost everyone invest in bitcoin for profit purposes but I wouldn’t generalize it because most of the investors do not actually use only this as the advantage but rather they look at other options like it been an hedge against inflation and this is why they invest and just the return of investment advantage.

Bitcoin is in no where comparable to gambling because bitcoin can never turn in zero value when you invest in it. Just because of its volatility it could go down in price relative to fiat and as such when you sell during those period you lose some amount which is not what gambling is. Gambling doesn’t hold a single value once you lost because it either a profit or the other way.

Only Alticoins or investing in shitcoins can actually have the same effect in cryptocurrency with gambling because most of the shitcoins usually turn dust over time. But a bitcoin remains a bitcoin
705  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Invest in bitcoin and forget the investment on: September 30, 2023, 11:12:57 AM
Bitcoin investment, this is the opportunity for someone who wants to invest in bitcoin to invest in bitcoin without looking back, because anyone that invest in bitcoin now will make a profit during bullrun, the price of bitcoin is fluctuating and it does want to up since the price has being to twenty six thousand [26] is over one month or less than one month the price is being unrotational for price, I think that any one that plan to become a billionaire in bitcoin this is the opportunity to invest in bitcoin against next bullrun.
The bitcoin market is definitely going sideways and it seems like this is how it will be for the rest of this year. So the best thing is to invest only what you can hold for a very long time now. But the statement about been a billionaire is something that I don’t really go with because even in the next bull run the most anticipated like price high isn’t going to be above 5x although it go anywhere. But for someone with just few thousands then it will be hard to see them turn billionaire over night, only someone who invested hundreds of millions can actually get to a billion but also not in profits. So the billionaire tag is not realistic.

Quote
The way I'm looking at next bullrun am thinking that the bullrun will be something that will push bitcoin price  to approach hundreds thousands [100] for the price, but people will not invest now. I split my funds currently to different of coins expecting that if I don't make profit in any of the coins when bullrun comes I will surely make profit in bitcoin because bitcoin price now is no longer going downward or going upwards, but any move the price will make to go up the price will increase, I'm expecting the price of bitcoin to rise in 2025 and 2026 so any investment in bitcoin  should be expected till next two years or three years time. Summary, invest in bitcoin and forget about the investment and hope that you will make profit after some years coming.
yes a realistic approach will be to settle for 100k and it is possible we could meet that target in the year 2025 or 2026 because of the past trends. I wound also say all investment should strictly be in bitcoin because the risk of having them In Alticoins just for profit is big but if you some money you can gamble then you can swing to Alticoins but do not place any realist hope on them

707  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: La Liga (Spanish League) Prediction Thread 2023/24 on: September 29, 2023, 09:57:17 PM
Didnt expect that this own goal by Ramos would decide the match. Was expecting a lot more goals from all of this big chances that happened in the match. Barcelona got a hard win barely and is doing really well in the laliga and they are the main favorites to win the title.

Definitely a big blow to Sevilla in this match after they had fought well, they deserved to go home with at least a point. In the past seasons most especially when Messi was around Sevilla has always use to have a batter by Barcelona. This season I was predicting the worst because they have started poorly and have gotten just seven points from there first seven games. But it is a vital win for Barcelona knowing that either of the two clubs Girona or Madrid will drop points as the face off against each other. But the big blow to Barcelona is the injury scare of Raphinha, he joins a list of some of the first team players and he would be missed but hopefully Ferran Torres would fill the gap perfectly. He Torres has always been begging for a chance and this is the perfect time to show the club his worth
708  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Let fear to lose be motivation to learn on: September 29, 2023, 02:08:03 PM
the main reason people lose in the crypto space is lack of sufficient knowledge and research  I don't think if you have a good understanding of block chain and Bitcoin basics you will end up just losing your funds or hodlings.
I would argue a bit about this in two cases, if a user gains knowledge of bitcoin then they can hold their bitcoins safe away from hackers better than the people that do not have knowledge because the knowledgeable person is aware of not storing his coins on exchanges or just any online wallet and also he is aware of things like phishing attacks and this will help him in storing the coins for a very long time even if they store the bitcoin in the same hot wallet as the less knowledgeable person.

But in terms of trading which I believe the OP is referring to, no person is save from losing there funds on it. The knowledgeable person only reduces the risk of losing just anyhow that a less knowledgeable person does because he is knowledgeable on many aspects like analysis and stuffs like that. But saying they wouldn’t lose is not something right because even the most favourite team in a game of sport loses sometimes

That's a nice idea. As a profile setting (that's off by default), I can see that largely solving the problem without rubbing anyone the wrong way.

Something like this:

This seems to me more like a better idea than what I first proposed. This way you don’t annoy those that have excess to send or those that see it as nuisance probably because they are use to being careful. If you don’t like it you can toggle it off.

To me if I could suggest adding a kind of warning sign like "are you sure want to send such amount to user "X"" along the line you will have something like captcha in form of multiplication or substraction ( 1+9, 4-4, 10+1) something like this could really help to reduce accidental discharge of smerit.

This will really be annoying let me be frank. I don’t know for other members but I don’t like captcha’s popping off eveytime. For someone like me it wouldn’t be that much of a problem but for some members that distribute many merits at once (merit sources) then it would be one hell of a thing to deal with. I have notice members like DdmrDdmr sending multiple merits in short period of time to different users, this will only discourage him
710  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Ignore the new Apple toys & Invest in Bitcoin, history always repeat itself. on: September 28, 2023, 12:32:44 AM

The iPhones battery is not designed to be replaced therefore it is disposable.

I get an influencer making money on it but I know about 150 iphone owners from 10 to 77. About 90% could use a samsung a54 and get along fine.

Many of them dont own an apple pc of any kind . Thus making it even stupider to get the iphone.

I am still rocking 3 mac minis and typing on an ipad mini as I type.
According to their support you can have a replace of the battery if it gets its health below 80% but probably this is for later iPhones like X above.

Yeah not that many actually needed to use it but just a preference they have for it. The MacBook though comes in handy because I kind of prefer MacOS than Windows OS, because of malwares
711  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How is this possible on: September 28, 2023, 12:09:37 AM
Just as explained above it is a coin base transaction which is usually use to collect the block reward and corresponding rewards from the transaction fees. It is similar to regular transactions just that it’s own data is has an empty input. It is also special in a such a way that miners can only spend it after at least 100 block rewards.

I see you were surprise about the 0 fees but do you know that even regular transactions can get confirmed with 0 fees, it depends on the miners. If you get access to one they can just insert your transaction to their candidate block and if it goes through they mined yours, the only thing is they won’t get the transaction fee which is their reward. So it is not a must that a transaction should be with a fee base on protocol.

Ancelotti changed the tactic and he made a new combination in the starting lineup. Joselu and Brahim Díaz played as starters. This looked effectively, since these players contributed scoring goals in this match. I really hope that Real Madrid can play more offensively like today, Ancelotti can't rely on Bellingham only. He must consider Joselu and Brahim Díaz as machine goals as well.
He confirmed that he made a Mistake when he set out his team against ATM but had to correct that in this match. The attacking dou of Rodrigo and Joselu was crucial and that was what was missing in the last match. Brahim Diaz has waited to have his opportunity to start today and he definitely backed that with a goal which he deserves, I just hope he doesn’t get pulled back to the bench to accommodate the return of Vinicius. A great game by Madrid and I think this season tittle will be interesting.

Their stay on top of the La Liga is only for a small time. The competition is always between Barcelona and Real Madrid and this season is showing signs of toughness.
Yes they shouldn’t be were they are right now but i wouldn’t underestimate them, they feel motivated now and this will help them to rack up points now even though they don’t beat the odds to win this tittle this will give them the momentum to fight for a position for next European competitions rather than the regular relegation battle. Since last year clubs like Sevilla, Valencia and Villareal who are seasonal participants in the European competitions have been in problems which opens way for mid table clubs to fill those spots and right now Girona are looking like that club
713  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What Inspired Me To Invest In Bitcoin. on: September 27, 2023, 09:08:00 PM
2. Investors like bitcoin because it's different from the traditional financial system that's controlled and regulated by the government of such a country. With bitcoin and crypto in general, transactions are outside the control of anyone, entity, organization, or person.

Definitely bitcoin is created to be use in a decentralized way where no middle man is needed but this has been subjective to how people use it now, there stuffs like ETF where shares are bought, centralized exchanges where where which acts as escrow during a transaction and lots more but this doesn’t in any case affect the sole aim of bitcoin been a total decentralized way, just that people have twerk it a bit to their satisfaction.

Quote
3. Transaction is fast; bitcoin gives every user the luxury or pleasure of speed in transactions. Hence, network hiccups are almost eliminated when transacting with bitcoin.

Definitely the transaction is fast if you actual want it to be fast that’s you paying the actual required transaction fee, but the transaction can also be slow if the right rate isn’t payed, but when compared to fiat system mostly especially during international transactions then the fastest would be bitcoin if the accurate or right fee is payed.
My take on bitcoin transaction is that it cannot be reversed once it gets confirmed, this could be a disadvantage to a wrong transaction but definitely the best rather than seeing a transaction been faked as we see in the fiat currency. This irreversibility has given more protection to businesses owners, once more 6 confirmations is gotten nothing can reverse it, even a single confirmation can hardly get reversed
714  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Does Bitcoin fail if not Peer-to-Peer and self custody? on: September 27, 2023, 08:44:10 PM

I asked the question because I wanted to see if the people on this forum understand the simple principle that Bitcoin has to be stored in a self custody wallet and sent over their own node for it to be a p2p transaction.  Any other setup violates the core tenants of Bitcoin.

How many people want a truly p2p solution and financial freedom?Huh

I would tell you that almost every core bitcoiner will tell you that they frown upon a middle man when a P2P transaction is done, if you can go through the forum on centralized exchanges you see replies of members warning people off it and telling them to trust decentralized exchanges where there isn’t a middle man. But as we have it this technology is still new even if it is a more than a decade old, and this has made some people doubt the ability of a free P2P without middle man and as such the idea of an escrow comes in handy which is definitely something the centralized exchanges do. If you asked me I would say it doesn’t solve any problem and also doesn’t defeats any purpose of bitcoin rather it creates an open space for everyone to use it to the way that it suits them. This is probably why bitcoin is characterized as pseudonymous by some. But the idea of Satoshi wanting it to be a direct P2P still hasn’t been changed, it depends on your preference
715  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: changed seed phrase on new laptop, does older lap top wallet still work? on: September 27, 2023, 08:31:38 PM
got it figured out

Now I would just make similar suggestions like the other members, although the wallet might be encrypted with a password and the person that took your wallet might need that, don’t feel too relax that nothing would happen to it. Just create a new wallet on electrum and transfer just everything on the old one you retrieved there. This time around try to back up your seed phrase properly, probably an offline back up would be the best.
716  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Are you on guard for any unexpected? on: September 27, 2023, 04:06:53 PM

But what if, we are caught off guard by the market at this snapshot point with another unexpected long dip again whereas we're expecting a little more pump in October?

Are you on guard for any unexpected?

Definitely on guard, this few months to halving will definitely be something of a market swing from red to green and back forth. The best thing is to just leave the funds off now till probably months after the halving, this way one could not get unrealistically disappointed with any price. Although the month of October is looking more like a tricky one I expect a little pump if no bad news is received and could even make it touch above $28000. But anything that test the support of $25000 then a price of $21000 to $22000 is expected. But as i said the unexpected will definitely happen before the halving
717  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: La Liga (Spanish League) Prediction Thread 2023/24 on: September 26, 2023, 10:04:57 PM

Unlike Barcelona that do have enough chances but they hardly score, Barcelona is struggling with Mallorca to equalise the goal but Mallorca has the boldness to stop them from scoring and they are not seeing Barcelona as that big team. A super strike by Jao Felix that hit the right side of the bar.

This is how small clubs set out there team against the top clubs. They only get the chance to hit them on counter rather having to play a possession football. If a small club plays the leaders then they should certainly be ready to utilize almost every chance that comes there way and Mallorca did just that, I would say the two goals seems more like a gift mostly especially the one from Ter Stegen. Many Barca fans will be disappointed with the goal keeper although he made mistake but it is high time we come to realization that building play from the back has its repercussions and that is what we saw today.

The final score is Mallorca 2-2 Barcelona. Barcelona failed to get 3 points today, they only got 1 point. If Girona wins against Villareal tomorrow, they will be in 1st place. Real Madrid also has a chance to shift Barcelona's position if they win against Las Palmas tomorrow. So, it is very unfortunate that Barcelona missed 3 points today, their position isn't safe now.

I see Madrid taking there chances against Las Palmas but the game between girona and villareal will be tricky one because even though Girona have been excellent this season I sense a good chance of Villarreal winning this match because they have drop points in their last two matches and this will be a good chance for them to get back to winning ways
718  Other / Meta / Re: best replies should appear first in a thread. on: September 26, 2023, 09:50:20 PM

The idea of ranking posts based on merit seems interesting (moving posts with merit to the front pages), but wouldn't that disrupt the natural flow of discussion on the forum and create confusion in the sequence of posts? That is, it will turn out that the answers to the questions will be in front (the first pages) of the questions themselves. In my opinion, this will create chaos with posts.

It will definitely affect the arrangement of the thread and it’s post, the replies was arrange in such a way that it looks more like a chat group where they follow sequentially. But if you bring those replies up base on merit then you will have a disorder. I have notice that most replies that actually get those merit more are the replies that sometimes correct the mistakes from  other members replies, so if you arrange them base on merit then the replies that were corrected will be bury down.

This idea wouldn’t work out because if there is no merit then which of the posts comes first and or will the moderators be given another very hand work to fish out the best replies? The whole concept is good but surely one can’t be implemented. The best thing is if a thread is related what you are interested in then find sometime and go through it. You Might even find something helpful for you without it been merited to take It up the post ladder
719  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: What to do with spam and scam tokens on my wallet? on: September 26, 2023, 06:19:07 PM
I'm already a Hero Member (going Legendary), but now I can say that "ranks don't matter when it comes to knowledge" because I don't know that term "address poisoning". If only I didn't read this post, I won't know what would be the main reason behind these scam tokens being distributed. Thanks for sharing this, and the links.

I would say this is part of the beauty of this forum, you learn vital things for free from people who go have vast knowledge or experience on the subject matter. Even I wasn’t much aware of this scam not until I was going through that thread and found out what it is called.

So in short, they're just sending tokens just to monitor the address? If that's the case then it isn't harmful then as long as you will not give money, and personal information to them, and not download anything suspicious online?

Change of address is the best solution with this one if you find it annoying, but I guess just ignore it would be an another option as well.

Exactly you would have to be careful with your dealings from that wallet and any one connected with it, scammers can take advantage of just anything and we all know they would certainly only get access to it through phishing attack,

Just as you said if one is not comfortable then he can just change wallet. But even if you change it you can not send directly to this new address from the old one because it will still link. Rather you would have to spend it through exchange and then probably back to the new Wallet. But overall you do not need to panic if one is not doing anything wrong
720  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Crypto exchanges have to learn and improve on their security on: September 26, 2023, 02:25:09 PM

Since the majority of users appear to have welcomed the requirement for required KYC, I believe the focus should now be on enhancing exchange security.

I don’t agree that majority have actually agreed to the KYC protocol implemented by exchanges, it is mostly exchanges that have come to the conclusion that KYC adds another level of security to their users. If you read some news once any non-KYC exchanges enforces KYC you will see some of the users fuming, most especially bitcoiners. Most just stick to the exchanges because they aren’t many out there that can provide them with some features they want. Decentralized Exchanges would have been a place to habour them but most do not have enough liquidity.

I am aware that KYC may reduce fraudulent activity, however dealing with hacking and security exploitation issues will need investing in the strengthening of security. Adoption could happen quickly with sufficient protection because safety will be assured.

One effective way of preventing this security breaches is to be very cautious in handling our storage devices, do not because you looking for something easier you compromised your security like not going through to have knowledge of how to save your money or coins on cold wallets, to not wanting to take the stress of having to store your keys yourself and there for either entrusting your keys to others or storing the funds on platforms. Also carefully scrutinizing any related information concerning your accounts ranging from mails that could contain phishing links or downloading just any applications
