Surprisingly enough, Barcelona fell behind in the first half and maybe this will be quite a tough comeback for Barcelona in an away game. Currently, the pressure is definitely on the Barcelona players because they have to win this match if they want to maintain their top position in the standings. Xavi had to change his strategy in the second half so that it was more fluid and could more easily break into Mallorca's goal.

Barcelona have enough time to win this match in the end, but even if they do perform another comeback like they did over the weekend there are still lots of issues to address in the team.
The defense has not been solid several times and they have to be bailed by Ter Stergen in many of their matches, he has not been very sharp today and they have gone behind twice.

Barcelona should be winning matches like this convincingly and also their last match at home to Celta Vigo if they are to compete at the highest level again.

Xavi may need to replace Iñigo Martínez with Kounde, while Ferran with Lewandowski.
Barcelona's defensive mistakes in the first half were very fatal and they had to avoid them in the second half. I think if Xavi plays Lewandowski and Kounde in defense, it will put more pressure on Mallorca. The expected result is that the defense becomes stronger and the strength of the attack line becomes better. It is useless to have possession of the ball and a high chance of scoring if the final solution is still unsatisfactory.

I still believe in the probability of Barcelona winning in the second half. They have to comeback even though Mallorca will defend better in the second half. But however Barcelona must be very wary of Mallorca's deadly counterattack, it is clear that it is very dangerous.

Kounde needs a rest, Araujo is just returning from injury and they are lacking depth in the Center of the defense with Kounde and Christenssen playing many minutes, week matches like this means they should be giving a rest as the next weeks will have games coming in thick and fast.

Lewandoski also needs a rest, while Ferran needs more playing time. He has been impressive the minutes he has been on the pitch but those minutes have become very scarce of late since the loan deal of Joao Felix.

Alvaro Morata was undoubtedly the player of the match in their Spanish La Liga match yesterday. His second goal that was scored in less than two minutes after the second half kicked off served as a sucker punch to Real Madrid as they couldn't come back from two goals down against a strong Atletico Madrid.

Agree, Morata was the man of the match. He became the player who made the difference on the match. His 2 headed goals made Atletico win at the end of the match. It's sad for Real Madrid because Morata himself was a former Real Madrid striker and was starting his career in Real Madrid academy (a part of Real Madrid Castilla).

I really didn't expect that, with fairly small odds like that, they were able to optimize it so well. Just imagine, they only have little ball possession and little opportunity to attack, like relying on a counter attack against Barcelona. However, they were able to equalize the position 2 - 2. This is quite a good achievement for a club like that. Moreover, Barcelona is known as an offensive club too. And they seemed to have difficulty penetrating Mallorca's defense in this match. Unfortunately Lewandowski was not played as a starter, perhaps because Xavi felt that Mallorca was not a club to watch out for.

Hemm, with this result, their position will also be threatened. If Girona wins against Villareal and Real Madrid wins against Las Palmas, then Barcelona will be overtaken.

This is how small clubs set out there team against the top clubs. They only get the chance to hit them on counter rather having to play a possession football. If a small club plays the leaders then they should certainly be ready to utilize almost every chance that comes there way and Mallorca did just that, I would say the two goals seems more like a gift mostly especially the one from Ter Stegen. Many Barca fans will be disappointed with the goal keeper although he made mistake but it is high time we come to realization that building play from the back has its repercussions and that is what we saw today.

 

The final score is Mallorca 2-2 Barcelona. Barcelona failed to get 3 points today, they only got 1 point. If Girona wins against Villareal tomorrow, they will be in 1st place. Real Madrid also has a chance to shift Barcelona's position if they win against Las Palmas tomorrow. So, it is very unfortunate that Barcelona missed 3 points today, their position isn't safe now.

I see Madrid taking there chances against Las Palmas but the game between girona and villareal will be tricky one because even though Girona have been excellent this season I sense a good chance of Villarreal winning this match because they have drop points in their last two matches and this will be a good chance for them to get back to winning ways

even if many people choose to bet on Barcelona with great confidence even though Barcelona will be playing away from home, I choose to bet on double chance. I dont doubt Barcelona performance but I just always choose to take small risks with low odds to remain consistent with my goals because I always remember the surprising events that have occurred in every match so to anticipate I will take the safe route for this match.
 

It is expected that many would not be willing to bet on Barcelona confidently after conflicting performances by the team in the past 2 games; but facing Mallorca away from home, you can count on 2 goals to be scored and at worst a draw for Barcelona. so i agree with your bet and it is very realistic as well.

I want to add that Mallorca has scored the first goal tonight, 23 minutes into the tie against Barcelona.

Very excited about my predictions haha. It is common knowledge that Barcelona performances has been awful for couple of games and with their history in Mallorca away from home; i was expecting a very tight game, Xavi squad rotation even made it very easier. Over 2 goals were scored and Barcelona secured 1 point away from home.

Hopefully, Xavi learns from this and does better with team selections in difficult games

Very necessary point for Barca because it would have been worse. Mallorca came really prepared and met a Barca squad that was fielding some tired legs.
Lewandowsky needs at least a month rest if possible from playing football because he is older than most and needs to find his confidence to net the ball more.

It was such that at some point I had to take a second look to be sure it was Barcelona playing against Mallorca because why would Barcelona of all teams find it difficult such that they were two goals down from the first half of the game. I even had to think Barcelona was going to make a come back like the did recently in their last game but sadly they couldn't maybe because they weren't Planning at home.

Mallorca scoring two goals and making Barcelona struggle to equalize was such a huge surprise and I must say could be seen as an achievement for Mallorca because it could be possible with other smaller team and seen as normal but with Barcelona who has recently been top it wouldn't sound normal that's why it's worthy of been seen as an achievement the got today.

Barcelona was lucky to go home with a point but sadly failing to get the complete 3 points is definitely going to affect their position as if Madrid should win tomorrow they will cause Barcelona to drop down the table as they will be leading, for Mallorca it was a good one as they are now one point ahead they didn't have to loose everything. This will be a wake-up call for Barcelona to keep improving and not rest thinking they are too good.

It was indeed a suprise for people and most especially for folks who actually predicted Barcelona to have a straight win. Mallorca ready played well but their resistance was not enough plus the fact that Barcelona are currently big time goal scorer which is lewandoski. Barcelona are in really good form and they have been scoring lots of goals which is very unlikely of the same Barcelona team i knew because the goal ration has increased by Barcelona.

Why do you say Verona? It should be Girona. I see that Barcelona experienced difficulties in this match, especially in the player rotation carried out by Xavi in ​​this match. I think Barcelona was lucky not to lose this match because Mallorca's tight defense made it difficult for Lewandowksi et al to score goals in this match. However, so far Barcelona has not been defeated in a Laliga match and I hope they can maintain their best form in the next match by winning. Joao Felix had 3 good chances in this match but he still had difficulty scoring goals. But I admit that Torres didn't play well enough in this match, so I say that if Xavi uses Lewandowski as a starter, there is a big chance he will score a goal.

Yes, many of us don't expect this great performance from Mallorca because Barcelona have been winning their games since they drew their first match against Gatefe, and we know that Mallorca is not in good form because they only have one win out of five matches they played before this. In fact, I don't think Mallorca have been that strong an opponent over some seasons because it is Barcelona that always wins home and away. That is why, even today, I still believe that Barcelona will win the game by all means, but Mallorca surprised me by being able to draw Barcelona with their performance. Barcelona's next match will be against Sevilla. Let's see what happens, but I believe Barcelona will not underestimate Sevilla and lose guard again.

I seem to have forgotten that there is a match scheduled between Mallorca vs Barcelona. referring to the statistics and line-up for this match, Xavi tried to rotate some of his players. At this point I don't know what Xavi is actually planning, but it's very likely that he wants to try to experiment with playing and rotating some of his players. at least, he wants to try the depth of his squad IMO. In this match, Xavi played Ferran Torres as a center forward and also played Inigo Martinez.
Well, so this is purely a tactic and strategy planned by Xavi. so, he shouldn't be angry with his decision. the reason is, we have seen Ferran Torres several times as a center forward. however, he rarely shows his skills.

With this draw, it provides an opportunity for Girona and Real Madrid to overtake the ranking currently occupied by Barcelona. Girona will play an away match against Villarreal, while Madrid will host Las Palmas at the Santiago Bernabeu. one of these teams wins, will shift the top of the La Liga standings. thus, the competition for the La Liga trophy will be even more exciting in the future.
