702  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: iPhone IOS Bitcoin wallet is here! (From Blockchain.info) on: April 24, 2012, 07:15:11 PM
Suggestion for the app store version - leave the functionality in, but disabled through a hidden setting, via a configuration file on the sd card or something so its easy to hack. I have friends who refuse to jailbreak their devices and want to get them to install this... I'll never understand why people would use a product where the manufacturer actively tries to control what you can do with it. Whats the incentive for apple to limit apps anyway?...
iPhones don't have SD cards so I'm not sure what you are asking.

Also, you don't need to jailbreak to install this.  Blockchain is in the official App Store with full functionality.

Due to restrictions from Apple the bitcoin wallet functionaility is not available in the app store version. However it is still available for free download with limited features.
You should read the last couple pages of this topic, or the description on the app store

v1.9.2 is now available in the app store with full wallet functionality enabled.
Wow! Congrats, nice work.

I've just downloaded from US App Store. Full functionality. Perfect.
The btc killer app is here

Apple limits apps in order to try and ensure stable, secure and consistent apps.  If they just let anyone post apps, malicious apps would be more common.  For example, there were multiple banking apps on the non-curated android marketplace that stole credentials.
704  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: US citizens, do you pay taxes on bitcoin exchange? on: April 24, 2012, 06:06:20 PM
isn't the entire point of BTC to get around this?

no

The point of BTC is not tax evasion. The point is actually being able to own and transfer your own money.

I think its better to spend a little more on the mobo and PSU and get more cards.

a 16GB drive is probably more than you need.  BAMT is less than a gig IIRC

Why spend any money on wifi? Every modern mobo has at least one ethernet port.

So I actually watched the videos on Snope. He goes through almost all of the layers in Illustrator and actually explains what people mean by optimization.

The only thing he didn't show was the stamp layer being the entire stamp and easy to drag around.

Slush,
Sometimes my router down (for serveral hours), then when it back I get this

No more backup pools left. Using primary and starting over.
I use latest poclbm
You should ask for help from whoever wrote your miner.  I don't think slush's pool has anything to do with your problem.

Only online armory requires bitcoind.  Offline armory doesn't.

...And I try to avoid meds when I'm sick as I prefer waiting it out.

I think this helps your defenses strengthen themselves. I try to never take pills for this reason, but does anybody know whether the the effect of vitamins is the same?

Some studies have shown vitamins to lower life expectancy. Sad

So I just realized that the 100 referalls got me some runes.  Tier 3 crit chance, health, and mana runes and the -4% time dead quintessence.  I'm only level 11, so I can't even buy ones that good yet, but I can equip these!

(2) Is my technique for multiple-instances and URI-handling the "correct" one?  Should I be occupying a network port just for this?  Perhaps shared memory is a better solution, or file-locks... but that wouldn't be a cross-platform solution (more OS-dependent code).
A file lock makes the most sense to me.  http://pypi.python.org/pypi/lockfile handles all the differences between unix and windows for you.

http://packages.python.org/lockfile/lockfile.html#examples

EDIT: Apparently twisted already has a lockfile Smiley

But.., but the guy from D.A.R.E. said if a doctor gives you drugs it's ok? It will only hurt you if you take drugs that are enjoyable, purchased from a guy in a leather jacket.
The only thing I remember from D.A.R.E. is being told that marijuana makes people eat and speed makes your heart beat faster.  What a waste of time.

717  Economy / Marketplace / Re: BTC For Your Opinion on: April 19, 2012, 05:36:49 PM
My big suggestion is to put the buy form on the front page
This is a good idea.  I think you could even put the sell form on the front page.  No need to make people click around.

Also, I noticed that the site is down right now.
718  Economy / Marketplace / Re: BTC For Your Opinion on: April 19, 2012, 12:36:21 AM
So far no charge backs or problems. My account is set up the old way..no credit card just a prepaid visa or something with no bank account. What happens if  ihave no money in the account and there's a charge back?
Hmm. I don't know.  They probably disable the account at the very least.
719  Economy / Marketplace / Re: BTC For Your Opinion on: April 18, 2012, 11:07:36 PM
It took me a couple clicks to figure out what exactly the site was for.

A simple sentence like "Buy small amounts of Bitcoin with PayPal!" above the main links would probably be enough.

Also, having to wait an unknown amount of time up to 24 hours with a high markup ($10 a coin when it's $5 at an exchange?) is not the greatest.

You will probably get hit with chargebacks like a lot of people who have tried to use paypal.

How long did it take you? I might attempt something like this, for personal use.

couple of months of work, but the result is quite good.
Um? Two accounts?
