701  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: CCminer(SP-MOD) Modded NVIDIA Maxwell kernels. on: May 20, 2016, 02:51:33 PM
run 5 cards ...

it seems that the nvidia driver craps itself when 6 cards are placed altogether ... i can assure you that i am no novice to mining - and you will find the same thing on your end ... i have yet to find a 'real' fix for this issue ...

6 x gigabyte 750ti oc lp cards work fine - but the 980ti g1 / extreme cards refuse to and stop functioning at 6 cards ...

i run fedora 23 x64 - with the latest drivers from the repo ( not the manually downloaded and installed nvidia drivers from their site ) and it is the same issue - time and time again ...

when thefarm is in its new home - ill be in a better position to test on different motherboards also - as i honestly believe it is a BIOS allocation issue ... i feel VERY confident that if i placed the cards on a supermicro server board that is built for hpc ( larger BIOS and designed to handle VGA allocation in BIOS ) - it will run fine with these big cards ...

what is the make and model of your motherboard? ...

#crysx

That is very interesting crysx, and is matching a pattern I think that I am seeing here also.  I am still in testing at the moment and hopefully should have a better feel by tomorrow where I stand with these cards.

My mobo is a ASRock H97 Anniversary.  My GPU's are Gigabyte Windforce 750ti's.

my motherboard on this machine is the asrock h81btcpro - built for mining ...

the 750ti have no issue with 6 cards - the 980ti run ony 5 - and when the 6th card is inserted - the drivers will not allow the system to boot into gnome ( the desktop ) ...

btw - 16gb kingston hyperx hi performance RAM ( 2 x 8gb ) ... the asrock h81btcpro will not take any more than 16gb ... so i cant even test whether its the RAM ...

cpu is g1840 celeron dual core ... this could also be an issue here ...

im off to be in the next 25mins ... and wont be back on till monday now ... i hope it goes well for you with the testing ...

skype me if need be - as we seem to have a similar issue here ...

702  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: CCminer(SP-MOD) Modded NVIDIA Maxwell kernels. on: May 20, 2016, 12:23:44 PM
Thanks everyone for the advice on how to get this Nvidia rig to run with ccminer.  Last night I tore the rig all down and started from scratch, replaced a bunch of powered risers with versions that I think are better quality.  I checked the mobo PCI-E slots with a good GPU to validate that the rig boots and works normally in each of the PCIE slots.  Then attempted to plug in each of the GPU's as a single GPU to make sure they booted and worked.  Next I tried to plug in each GPU one at a time adding to the previous one to see if there were any issues.  The rig seems fine until you plug in that last(6th) GPU then it acts strange...

So I decided the only way to figure out if I have a bad GPU in the bunch is to plug in one GPU and launch the miner and let it run overnight if it will stay up and not crash... So I did that last night, connected a single GPU and ran the miner.  No intensity settings are set.  It mined fine, stayed up all night.  So this morning first thing I connected a second GPU and let it run all day with just 2 GPU's.  It ran all day, no issues.  This evening I connected a 3rd GPU and will let it run until the morning.  I will keep adding GPU's until I start to see the "validate on CPU" errors and crashing.

I thought maybe I was having the issue where the number of GPU's isn't supported, but after digging around today that issue appeared to be related to AMD GPU's, and I didn't see anything about Nvidia gpu's having that issue.  But I am starting to wonder what might be going on if I get down to the 6th GPU and the errors return... I don't want to get the cart before the horse here, but it seems kind of strange.

I will have to order some more powered risers.  I used the last of my spares last night replacing ones that I suspected might be an issue.   Hopefully things will stay stable with ccminer.  I am using the affinity 0, cpu priority 0, -C switches to startup the miner, but I left out the intensity and it seems to be working so far.  Any other thoughts or inputs would be great.  Thanks again...

I am sorry to hear that SP_ is talking about retiring.  It must be a great feeling to be ready to retire, but we really do need his talent here... I hope he will reconsider for a little while longer... :-)

no - you dont seem to be doing anything wrong at all mate ...

if you read back quite a few pages - i had the same problem with 6 x gigabyte 980ti g1 / extreme cards ...

after almost two weeks of research and stuffing around - the fix? ...

Signed up for toshitalk, havnt been able to find free time to play around on the platform yet. Looking forward to carving out some time maybe tomorrow.

Great, I just posted a few calls you might want to look at.

I'm going to dedicate some of the left over premine after the burn to paying ToshiDesk users, to be active.

Users that are active deserve to be rewarded.

Posting Charts, News, Ideas, Opinions, Chatter in the box, etc will be graciously rewarded.

Using the premine to build a credible community is the end goal.

Would love to see more active users on there...

Even if you post a development critique, explaining something you think should change, or additions that should be made...Those style of posts, on ToshiDesk will also be rewarded.

Do you part and lets see where we can take ToshiDesk, as we continue to develop this charting platform on a daily basis.

Cheers,

MasterTrader777

I think rewarding the community is a great idea, but keep it well documented what comes out of the reserve.

Also I suggest ridding toshitalk of the wait time for approval of replays or thread creation.

I agree, reason for the approval rule from the start was due to spam monkeys.

I will turn it off, and just ban the monkeys, as they come.

Of course, the reserve deductions will be well documented.

Not looking to devalue community trust.

Cheers,

MasterTrader777

Maybe incorporate a report option on posts so community members can self report and then less your your time will be dedicated to babysitting and focused on more important developments, networking, ect.

Done.

that as well as assigning a mod that is willing to work with you to moderate the forum as well ... someone you can trust of course ...

#crysx

I think we spoke about maybe you being a mod for us?

I could set you up as a mod if you still wish to lend a hand.

I think we will need at least 2-3 mods early on.

Let me know if you are game to mod for ToshiTalk.

Really looking to get that forum more active.

Been really working on the spam filters lately, and have been locking down registration parameters to prevent spam bots.

Cheers,

MasterTrader777

hi mate ...

hope all is well ...

no we did not speak about it - but im flattered Smiley ...

i will help in anyway - but i am unsure of whether i would be any real good use to you ( or the community ) as a forum mod ... i know i could do it - if the knowledge of the forum was adequate ...

we can trial and see if you like - and i would suggest that those with experience in the forum system would be better placed than i - but who has stepped up for the job? ...

there is one person whom i know who is experienced and very good - but he is very busy with his personal projects for the moment ...

lets chat and see what we can come up with - we can always learn Wink ...

im on skype most days and evenings now - which would make most nights and mornings for you ...

Who can compile a wallet for linux please? I can't do that in my vps Sad

Cheers

Let me guess... Amazon free tier? If so, I can help you so it will build wallets.

I've build one for you: https://github.com/ChiliCoin/ChiliCoin/releases/download/v1.0.0.0/chilicoin-qt-linux.tar.gz

You still need to install the dependencies. This is the GUI version, not sure if you were looking for the daemon or the GUI?

Here you go for the dependencies:

Code:
apt-get update && apt-get upgrade
apt-get install ntp git build-essential libssl-dev libdb-dev libdb++-dev libboost-all-dev libqrencode-dev

wget http://miniupnp.free.fr/files/download.php?file=miniupnpc-1.8.tar.gz && tar -zxf download.php\?file\=miniupnpc-1.8.tar.gz && cd miniupnpc-1.8/
make && make install && cd .. && rm -rf miniupnpc-1.8 download.php\?file\=miniupnpc-1.8.tar.gz

InterServer $0.01 plan lol

I need daemon for host a node, but thanks for your help Cheesy

Here is the linux daemon: https://github.com/ChiliCoin/ChiliCoin/releases/download/v1.0.0.0/chilicoin-qt-linux-daemon.tar.gz

Same dependencies apply.

For most cheap VPS instances the trick is to add virtual memory: https://damvin.com/index.php/2013/03/14/adding-virtual-memory-to-aws-ec2-micro-instances-and-other-smart-tips/

why is it that when a 'linux' compile is required - its immediately thought of as a debian based system? ... im just curious ...

redhat based ( like fedora and rhel itself ) are linux too guys ... im a redhat fella also - fedora 23 x64 mainly - but centos 7 x64 on the vps systems ...

yes - its a pain in the bum to compile on these redhat systems ( as opposed to debian based systems ) - but im astounded that when the word 'linux' is used - its automatically thought of as debian based ... especially when you consider that redhat systems ( from rhel ( centos - scientific linux ) to fedora ) is the top 3 linux systems in the world ...

very interesting how this crypto world sees things SO differently to the 'real' world ...

anyway ...

my curiosity always gets the better of me ...

o - and its great that the community is all pitching in Smiley ...

#crysx

debian is easier to use and more mainstream. i think this is why  'linux' happens. Cheesy

its certainly not 'easier' to use ... its very similar in usage terms ...

but the debian community have made many steps towards the crypto industry - to bring it much closer to the 'people' ... so in that sense - i must agree with you ...

even so - fedora based systems have a HUGE market share - and by stipulating debian based compiles only - means a great deal of users ( and market ) is being cut off from the coin and its community ... which also lends itself to confining the community to a specific collection of people ... the more the choice of compiles - the broader the usage AND the larger the community ...

btw - just off topic - i will need your translative expertise once again - as im bringing granite ( grn ) and ozziecoin ( ozc ) together for the redevelopment next month under on banner - and would like the translation to greek done also ... this will be starting on the 1st of next month ...

tanx ...

Hi Claymore,

What the ETA on the gpu, rig management feature?

Thanks

Edit: any sneak peak of the features?

New version with remote monitoring/management will be available in a day. Some new features/options will be added as well.
The monitoring utility can have a lot of advanced features, but I prefer to release it asap so first version will have only main set of features like monitoring hashrates, temperatures etc and remote setting pools and options.

btw mate ...

the linux versions require specific versions of packages that are not in fedora 23 x64 ( as im assuming the miner is build on a debian based system - like ubuntu ) ...

is there a fedora 23 x64 version that you can compile? ... considering that the redhat systems are one of the worlds largest distributions also? ...

i know how much of a pain in the bum it can be to compile in fedora 23 x64 - but it is still one of the most widely used bleeding edge desktop systems ...

Guys my VPS has gone down and it's going to be deleted. I don't really mind since servicenodes haven't come out yet.

I asked coins101 what he wanted to do with it but he hasn't responded.
I just got a "third and final warning" email.

hi mate ...

what is the vps used for? ...

do you need to save it - or the data / project contained it? ...

if so - let me know what and maybe we could work something out ...

#crysx
I really don't need to save it.
It is probably wiser to wait a while until servicenodes actually get released.

I may have used it as a server for a game my friends were playing, since it wasn't being used for anything else.. Smiley

well - let me know if you change your mind - as i have a few that can be used ...

i dont want to lose any of mine either - so i know what you may be tossing up with the vps ... but if its not important at all - its all good ...

i thought i would offer anyway ... we have all been around for a while now ... and help is only a short distance away if you need it ...

#crysx
Thanks crysx, hey did you make a new account or am I imagining things?

i had to mate ...

i stuffed up the password for the chrysophylax account - then ended up getting banned from the forum because i couldnt remember the answer to the secret question ... being banned meant i had NO access to the forum ...

reported it to theymos ( as instructed ) then a few weeks later to every mod i could find ...

they are about as helpful as tits on a bull ... and about as responsive ... i have yet to hear from theymos or badbear - and have NO response at all from any other mod ... the admins i have heard from 'cant do anything' as theymos and badbear are the only two that CAN do anything at all regarding unbanning and unlocking accounts ... but do you think they have even responded in three months? ... not a chance! ... they dont give a damn about any of the issues ... even though my account was NOT hacked - it was an error on MY part ... but STILL nothing ...

no response - no interest - no resolve ...

so a new profile - and start all over again from newbie - even though i was on hero going on to legendary ...

hence why im starting our own public forum ...

the moderators here that are in power have no intention to do anything about it ...

i just contacted mprep a day ago - and see what he can do ... he seems to be the only moderator that is responding in ANY way ...

though i doubt he can do anything anyway ...

so does that answer your question Smiley ...

I would like to agree with you Joel. Could you elaborate please?
Yeah I agree with the arrogance part. The guy who said that about Lisk either wants to pump his own coin and shoots down all others or is truly afraid of Lisk and scared of competition. He can't talk good about another coin so people won't divert their investments away from the dao. Wow I must've invested in the right coin after all.  Wink

SHIT YA. looks like a total con man, but he fits with ETH's "too complicated to realize it's useless and broken till u try to use it" theme perfectly

well that's my thing with ETH. follow all instructions, end up like this guy with zero support from the devs except "yupp, it's definitely broken"
https://forum.daohub.org/t/urgent-buying-dao-using-mist-has-hacked/1742

hence why i havent mined ONE eth - even though i have one of the larger gpu farms in the southern hemisphere ...

a huge amount of hype - but no real support to even help with compiling a miner under fedora 23 x64 ...

and dont think i havent tried ... spent in total an entire weekend stuffing around with the compilation of the MINER - and not the useless complexity of the wallet ... and im no newbie to the industry OR IT in general ... quite experienced - and still broken wallet - broken miner - broken support ...

seriously - if lisk has anything to offer at all - it really needs to be SIMPLICITY and functionality - not just bloat and 'o yup - its broken' ...

ive been watching lisk and eth and a lot more ... when thefarm become a monster of a mining system - ill choose the most convenient and simplistic - rather than the bloated and complex ...

and im sure the majority of users out here in cryptoland will be the same ... make it easy for ALL of us - and it will be more than popular ...

ill sit and watch for the time being ...

#crysx
Thanks for the honest input on this topic. Yeah it seems like Ethereum truly is vaporware at the moment and nothing but hype. If Lisk delivers on its technology then all altcoins will have some serious competition.

apologies for the truly off topic ... BUT ...

i remember when ethereum started ... very very similar to lisk ...

all talk - then more talk - ico - financial backing through the ico / ipo / crapio - some development - more talk - much more rules and regulations on what can and cant be done - a little more dev work - much more marketing and btc generation - make more friends with money - pump pump pump dump - then do all over again ...

i see this happening here also unfortunately - but with a small twist ... there IS actual dev work going on in the backend ...

im neither here nor there with eth or lisk or any other pumped coin for that matter ... i give kudos to those that started this great idea of making themselves a HUGE amount of money by starting a marketing campaign for an idea - then getting btc / fiat to back it ... the owners ( yes - i said OWNERS ) of lisk and eth are doing a great job in making themselves rich ... but the difference is very stark ...

rich is short lived - wealth is not ...

so if a development of a system that EVERYONE can use SIMPLY is devised - then wealth will be the one thing that the project can boast ... anyone can boast about code and apps and pumps and dumps ... not everyone can boast ( let alone prove ) that the wealth thats accrued was from a system that is USABLE by the vast majority of people ( NOT companies - PEOPLE ) in existence today ...

look at microsofts products ... is it the best code on the market? ... NO! ... is it the best operational systems on the market? ... not a chance! ... is it usable by almost everyone that touches it ( no matter how unreliable and unstable ANY of their code is ) ... damned right it is! ... case closed ...

the massive PROMISE is what everyone in the lisk and ethereum camps are counting on - and obviously BETTING on ...

if any of these coins / camps / projects come out with something that is useful and readily available for the masses to run with - then it will be the bluray of todays crypto industry ( as opposed to the 'technically better' but no so marketable due to lack of financial backing HDDVD ) ...

i think ive made my point ... and im tired - so im going on a bit ...

bottom line is - i dont really care that a business makes money ... almost every business does that to one extent or another ... what i care about is a usable product that will make life easier for the everyday person AND is easy to use - that WILL create a wealthy business ... which means its a healthy business ...

in the very short term - we will see ... only a few months from now ... i can see it on the horizon ...

btc anyone? ...

Wink ...

well that's my thing with ETH. follow all instructions, end up like this guy with zero support from the devs except "yupp, it's definitely broken"
https://forum.daohub.org/t/urgent-buying-dao-using-mist-has-hacked/1742

hence why i havent mined ONE eth - even though i have one of the larger gpu farms in the southern hemisphere ...

a huge amount of hype - but no real support to even help with compiling a miner under fedora 23 x64 ...

and dont think i havent tried ... spent in total an entire weekend stuffing around with the compilation of the MINER - and not the useless complexity of the wallet ... and im no newbie to the industry OR IT in general ... quite experienced - and still broken wallet - broken miner - broken support ...

seriously - if lisk has anything to offer at all - it really needs to be SIMPLICITY and functionality - not just bloat and 'o yup - its broken' ...

ive been watching lisk and eth and a lot more ... when thefarm become a monster of a mining system - ill choose the most convenient and simplistic - rather than the bloated and complex ...

and im sure the majority of users out here in cryptoland will be the same ... make it easy for ALL of us - and it will be more than popular ...

ill sit and watch for the time being ...

What kind of speeds are we seeing now with the latest build on the 750ti's?  I am finally about to do my nvidia rig build and would like to get the maximum perf from them possible.  Would love your input.  Thanks.

are 750ti still a thing? nothing seems profitable with those little gpu lol, even quark is better on a 980ti

they are VERY unique cards - that hash well and work well even in the heaviest pressure areas of mining ( except ethereum due to the dag ) ...

they are cheap in comparison - and on a price / watt basis - are still a very good card ...

though now the pascal chipset is out - we will probably see a decline in mining with these cards - and a flood up for sale ... which is one of the reasons i didnt sell all mine - just a few ...
