Awesome iluvpcs, thank you!

8 miners @ 224.66GH/s are mining block 175040 with difficulty 351362. Avg time/block: 1h 52m

That should knock a number of blocks out.

Sorry. Sad If they were mined before 175000 you'll still have them on the correct chain though.
703  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: TERRACOIN ATTACK OVER 1.2TH ATTACK CONFIRMD on: July 28, 2013, 06:09:17 PM
Where can you mine this coin?  Coinotron and Multipool doesn't seem to work.

Also, What are the rpc ports for solo mining?

You can use my pool in my sig (www.royalminingco.com).

Not sure on solo mining port off hand.

Thanks! Did you do a -reindex? I see the stats on web site still report about 400 blocks ahead of actual live chain.
705  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: TERRACOIN ATTACK OVER 1.2TH ATTACK CONFIRMD on: July 28, 2013, 06:00:25 PM
But they did it way better than the attacker from the last few days because they didn't take a 100% of the cake.
And also everybody else was profitting of the generally-low-difficulty as well, whereas last days' attacker was so fast almost everybody else was filling the orphanages.
But there were quite a few situations where we probably had been stuck for quite a while hadn't someone used the halve-diff trick for getting diff back down sooner than otherwise.

Kind regards
Mike

Thank you Mike270. I forgot, but I spotted this a month ago. I just didn't understand what I was seeing. I reported it to the forum and never heard anything further about it:

Or just simply pointing my miner to the URL they give me and go with the flow? And how can i add more difficulty? Is there an option to put in the string cgminer -o http://p2pool.org:9332 -u {my wallet string} -p {choosen password}??

Difficulty is set by the pool, not in the miner. It's pool-specific how they figure out what difficulty to tell your miner, or if you are running your own p2pool I assume there's a way to set it (or maybe it's dynamic). I don't use p2pool myself, but there won't be a cgminer option for it directly. (Some pools let you pass instructions on what difficult you want in your username or password field.)

Speaking of which, he's moved on to greener pastures it appears. Still, that was a big help to move one of those blocks off quickly. But yes, will take a while now.
708  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: TERRACOIN ATTACK OVER 1.2TH ATTACK CONFIRMD on: July 28, 2013, 05:30:11 PM
block 039 in fact has 304518 difficulty, so your calculation looks pretty much accurate, does that mean that we will have 1 block per day at this pace?

Depends on network hash power. There is a big ASIC helping us out on my pool right now:

8 miners @ 123.42GH/s are mining block 175040 with difficulty 351362. Avg time/block: 3h 24m

So to use 24 hours for an example, we should have roughly 7-8 blocks found, depending on luck of course. At current difficulty.

I have no idea how long our benevolent ASIC overlord will keep working on TRC though. Hopefully a while. Wink

Uhm virgin coins? Really never heard of that and Google isn't my friend i guess. What are virgin coins? Also i receive a lot of rejects...is that normal on p2pool? Almost 30% of them Sad

Coins with no history. They are made in the generation coinbase and paid directly to you. Most pools the generation goes to the pool, then the pool pays it out.

Also please upgrade to latest TRC client and run it once with -reindex. The stats on web are showing the TRC forked chain incompatible with the official client. (Mandatory upgrade was before block 175000.)

I will get right on it.

Thank you sir!

i withdrew some TRC from BTC-e while we were at block 175038, and got my 1st confirmation with block 175039 so it looks like they're on the right chain.

Whew! Last night they were on the other one. Yay.
713  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: TERRACOIN ATTACK OVER 1.2TH ATTACK CONFIRMD on: July 28, 2013, 04:42:09 PM
Coinpolice shows TRC being on block 175,433 and 5k diff, does this mean they are out of date and on the old client?

They'll need to upgrade and use -reindex once to get synced up.

As far as I know, only the mass of p2pool users (who have to all individually upgrade since it's decentralized) and BTC-E need to get synced in.

The large TRC-friendly ASIC just landed block 175039 for us. Hoping he stays around to kill a few more until diff drops. Wink
That's nice but I guess that's gonna happen frequently from now on and afaik this was why they introduced the diff halving (that was now abused) in the first place... what's gonna save us when for example at one exchange prices rice dramatically, hash power increases accordingly, then prices drop & miners leave and we are stuck who-knows-where?
Does anybody know where such kind of discussions by the devs can be followed? On terracointalk.org there seems to be not much going on :-(

Looking at the github comments on the patches, I believe the difficulty halving was before the change to an EMA based difficulty algorithm. When that went into place, the halving should have been removed but wasn't, and the attacker found a way to exploit it. Once we're back to "normal" I'm not sure we need the halving.

Remember before attack the network had a lot of hash power on it, sometimes 500Gh or more, and difficulty worked fine to adjust up and down as people changed coins. None of that was using the halving code.

Spoke to forrest on irc. He will try to clean that patch up and get it merged with official tree. However since p2pool is decentralized, miners need to upgrade their trc clients themselves. So that's a lot of wasted hash power we can't easily get upgraded. Doh!

There is a patch needed, I think, to mine on new p2pool network for correct chain. See this post:

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=176424.msg2816945#msg2816945

He's running a node with new client and correct chain. A TRC-friendly asic just joined one of the other pools to help get some of these high difficulty blocks off our back.

Hello everybody.

I recently updated my p2pool installation to 13.2 and my TRC client/wallet to the last available 0.1.3-44 and this started a multitude of problems and malfunctions.

- My p2pool shortcut command is: (...program path) --net terracoin -a myTRCpublicaddress
- My TRC client/wallet shorcut command is: (program path) -datadir=Y:\Terracoin (I use another data dir than the default)
- In my default TRC datadir path and in Y:\Terracoin directory I have a notecard called "terracoin.conf" with this text:

server=1
rpcuser=(myusername)
rpcpassword=(mypassword)
rpcallowip=127.0.0.1

Something wrong is happening after do these updates, there are no shares, no orphan, no dead..., no payments, a lot of block-stales detected and everything has stopped working normally.  I deleted and rebuild the TRC client and p2pool share blocks but still the same issue.   I use CGminer 2.11.4 for mining and the program connects and shows good the accepted shares as always but it's like not connected.

I never had problems with p2pool and TRC, What can I do?

MINX you are on right chain if you are on -44. The problem is high difficulty blocks as chain heals from the mandatory upgrade and the prior attack. p2pool as a whole is on the wrong chain, that's a lot of hash power going to waste.
719  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: [trc] [p2pool] public TRC p2pool 0fee on: July 28, 2013, 02:23:08 PM
The main p2pool is still on the old chain with about 50Gh of power, which is more than all the other pools combined. (Two big pools are suspended until the dust clears.) Really hope they upgrade main pool soon!
720  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: TERRACOIN ATTACK OVER 1.2TH ATTACK CONFIRMD on: July 28, 2013, 02:13:53 PM
So here's much of our problem, very low hash power.

Coinotron and Multipool have TRC suspended. If you add up the other 3 pools I know of (Hynodeva, Redpoint, RoyalMinindCo) that adds up to 39 GH/s.

P2Pool who is still on the forked chain has a "local rate" of 30Gh and a "pool rate" of 54Gh. So at the moment, p2pool is more than half of the total pooled hash power but they still haven't upgraded to new client and re-indexed.

An ASIC with 2x60G/h helped us reach block 175K and sent me a private message about doing so. I'll ask if he'll solve block 175039 for us, to keep things moving ever so slowly.
