7021  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin up 250,000% in Less Than a Decade Compared to S&P 500’s 147% on: November 27, 2019, 06:32:44 PM
It's pretty obvious that it has become like that due to it being an open market plus the fact that a lot of people basically capitalized on its volatility and susceptibility to pumps and dumps. Not that I'm implying that bitcoin is only good at that, but compared to the strict regulations and watchful eyes on traditional markets, wash trading and other sorts of what is deemed 'illegal' on trading practices are being done widely on bitcoin. I would have started buying bitcoin in 2014 on large quantities had I known that it will continue to prosper, but I was too naive and doubtful back then.
7022  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Quantum computing is not really a Bitcoin problem. on: November 27, 2019, 04:23:46 PM
Potential negative implications of quantum computing wouldn't be seen just yet knowing that we're still on the 'baby steps' of this huge leap in terms of computing. If ever quantum computing becomes widespread, we still have the option to transfer over to a quantum-resistant algorithm and let things be. For the mean time, there's not much to worry about quantum computing for bitcoin's security. Brute-forcing private keys would still be a long way to go and an exhaustive process for anyone who tries to do so.
7023  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Working "jobs for bitcoin" sites? on: November 27, 2019, 03:10:39 PM
Take a look at Upwork , it's a reputable market . Or you can either try with Jobsforbitcoin .
I can also suggest you some other alternatives which have good reviews but i didn't try them by myself like Coinality , Cryptogrind , Bitlancer or BitGigs .
You can also use the "Services" board of our forum . It's a good option to sell services or to hire people . Good luck

Currently on Upwork, and no, they do not take in bitcoin payments as of yet, though they are a legitimate freelancing platform that has been up for over 10 years now, which started from oDesk btw.

The subreddit doesn't seem to contain any worth it jobs at least for me, and most people are still better off doing some jobs irl and just buying bitcoin rather than waiting for a proper job that rewards them handsomely on bitcoin.

Heck, even this forum can give you enough opportunities if you have the right skills.
7024  Economy / Exchanges / Re: localbitcoins scam ? on: November 23, 2019, 08:19:23 PM
Quite an odd problem really, though you are not the first one who stepped up and explain what happened (though tbh your situation/problem is quite vague. May I know if you traded your coins before or after KYC? Also, have you used their escrow protection service? Have you bought or are you trying to sell in that platform? In that way we’ll be able to narrow down the reason why they wouldn’t release your funds though I’ll cling to the possibility of stricter KYC rules.
7025  Economy / Economics / Re: The Government-Backed Digital Dollar (USD) on: November 23, 2019, 07:54:37 PM
As long as the US remains to be the number one bully of the world and as long as Trump is seated as the POTUS, no change will ever happen for the US, and no initiative from the current government would be seen to improve whatever things need to improve in there. Not that I'm saying that our society now needs cryptocurrencies as a step forward, but at least just the thought that a change needs to happen from our current flawed system. But then again, it seems like the US has their attention and energy directed towards the admin's enemy on the seat and not the welfare of its constituents.
7026  Bitcoin / Legal / Re: China’s ‘Silicon Valley’ Identifies 39 Cryptocurrency Companies As Illegal on: November 23, 2019, 06:45:07 PM
And it’s not true also that Binance’s office have been raided according to CZ himself. So it means those crypto companies in China that are not defrauding or misleading customers are actually “safe” to operate there? Correct me if I’m wrong though. Thanks!

We don't really have much knowledge when it comes to crypto entities in China, though we can be certain that CZ's Binance is in good hands knowing that he's somewhat into the inner circles of the elites in there. Probably the ones that are not that big would be the ones affected by these crackdowns and not those which are already established and may prove to be of use to the government. You know how things work in China: if you can provide something to the table, you're good, and if not, you're forced to find opportunities elsewhere.
7027  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: The Continues Downfall in Bitcoin Circulation threating traders on: November 23, 2019, 05:43:11 PM
This does not threaten anybody, nor will it ever be a serious problem in the future considering that bitcoin is highly divisible up to its core. This special property of bitcoin solves the limited supply/availability that is capped @ 21 million, and ensures that there will be some more left for people to share even if the supply is exhausted. Traders are more threatened by new players with deeper pockets that can easily manipulate everything on the price, including the different facets of the market and other aspects of the economy.

Supply cap is a non-problem, and never will be.
7028  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Gamble with a controlled mindset on: November 23, 2019, 04:16:48 PM
If you’re into gambling because you want to win the jackpot then you’ll really not be able to control your mindset at all. You’ll continue chasing the greens and you’ll accept no compromises whatsoever even if it already hurts you, your pocket and the people surrounding you. I’ve seen it happen right before my very eyes and some of them close to me (my uncle) who just sold a good plot of a land he received from his father after he died. Ended up being a broke-ass dude who blames everyone for his misfortunes until he committed suicide due to depression and debts he can not repay.
7029  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Do you have control or not? on: November 23, 2019, 03:39:44 PM
I believe everyone can do it but are simply into the thought of getting the jackpot by gambling just a little more until they could no longer get out of it. The more people think of the jackpot that they think is waiting for them, the lore they fall into this pit of despair and addiction into gambling. At one point, it’s easy to just play a round or two and call it quits after losing/winning, but then again depending on the person, they either chase their losses or wins, which results to them being hooked into that feeling that they can no longer get out of.
7030  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Whale Withdraws $89M BTC, Despite Bloody Market on: November 23, 2019, 03:01:01 PM
Stop following big movements on the blockchain and create rumors about it as if it’s a single new event. Some are still being held hostage by the thought of some anonymous dude owning up huge amounts of money and moving it through the blockchain when in fact it could just be an exchange moving funds from A to B. With the volatility and craziness surrounding bitcoin for the better part of its existence, everyone should have been used to these events happening, but apparently not everyone is used to it just yet.
7031  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Binance to Sue the Block and raises 200 bitcoins to fight fud. on: November 23, 2019, 02:40:15 PM
Planned, corroborated crash or whatever the hell it is, I don't think CZ should act like this knowing that a single crypto article such as this is being published on a daily basis and doesn't stop from being created at will. Also upon seeing The Block's response to Binance's reaction, it's more like they only used the info their 'trusted source' has been relaying to them, although of course that doesn't make them less accountable for what already happened since they're the ones who published everything out.

I applaud what Binance had been doing for the market but this one doesn't suit my liking at all.
7032  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Did China really crash Bitcoin again? on: November 23, 2019, 05:11:10 AM
Everything that has happened should not be attributed to China alone. We've been on a lackluster trading scene for quite some time now and it just so happened that the news regarding China clarifying that blockchain =/ bitcoin is timely to the expected downfall of the price. It could have been a lot worse though, but it seems that the bearish sentiment has taken a rest somehow and we're sitting quite nicely yet uncomfortably in the low $7000 range. The Chinese has a large influence over the mining scene, but when it comes to trading, I think they're not the largest of whales around.
7033  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: 6 safety concerns? on: November 23, 2019, 04:24:05 AM
I honestly have no definite fears apart from bitcoin not holding value for too long. That's not a major concern though it has posed to be one especially to us invested heavily into crypto. Security wise into the code and into the protocol, I don't think there's something particularly scary nor alarming. Quantum computing may have been birthed, though its implications would not be seen perhaps in a couple more centuries to come, especially with CPU manufacturers having a problem into continuing with Moore's law, with the latest chips in commercial production still at 7nm.
7034  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 30th South East Asian Games on: November 22, 2019, 05:45:53 PM
The Philippines might get the top 1 spot since most Filipino athletes would be invigorated by the cheers of the home crowd, inspiring them to do good in their own sports and categories. Though statistics-wise, Thailand and Vietnam would also be great contenders for the prime spot seeing how many medals these countries rake in albeit not being the host country. With that said, keeping an eye out for these countries would be thrilling, although the Philippine team would be in a more intense pressure since they are playing from their own land and expectations are extremely high.

7036  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Blockchain is not Bitcoin on: November 22, 2019, 02:24:40 PM
At least right now it has been clear that it does not mean that they accepted blockchain, they have accepted cryptocurrencies. Perhaps they would be integrating the blockchain tech into something else and not particularly money and currencies. Now, no one would be trying to figure out whether China is really on the side of bitcoin since they have answered it perfectly straight.
7037  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: 22nd November 2009. Satoshi created a forum called "Bitcointalk". 10 Years ago. on: November 22, 2019, 09:40:21 AM
What I applaud about bitcointalk is that even after 10 years, a lot of changes, drama and password leaks, we remain to be standing and relevant. The forum remains to be the go-to place for entities and fresh brands to advertise, made evident by the various signature campaigns still running and popping every now and then. Of not for Satoshi and his vision and opus, we may not have seen some of the best discussions in this forum and discuss about bitcoin.
7038  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Paypal CEO Is a HODLr, but Only Owns Bitcoin on: November 22, 2019, 08:39:24 AM
It’s not as if this is a secret between their inner circles. It’s obvious enough that some rich people will be holding bitcoin, just not being open about it due to reasons concerning their security and of course, toppling the markets in one fell sweep because of their influence alone. The mere fact that a CEO of a huge enterprise such as PayPal is into bitcoin and has his own stash of it tells you something about the movement of some of the wealthiest dudes in the scene right now.
7039  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / Re: Binance Enters Indian Market With Acquisition of Crypto Exchange WazirX on: November 21, 2019, 02:49:52 PM
I do not understand India, then they want to ban crypto at all, then buy a crypto exchange.

It’s a decision made by a private entity, Binance, to buy an exchange catering to Indian citizens. We’re not yet sure of the developments that will happen from here, though it may somewhat force or at least make the Indian government think twice of what they’re doing when it comes to banning cryptocurrencies. Honestly, it’s already huge profit on taxes for India by allowing traders and exchanges to do business freely. No harm would also be made if India is planning to launch their own cryptocurrency. Instead, this might even help the citizens be familiarized with traditional cryptocurrencies and be a testing ground for what they’re planning to launch.
7040  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Recent Data Breach: "1.2 billion people exposed" on: November 21, 2019, 01:48:40 PM
It’s quite alarming and concerning that massive data breaches like these are just a common occurrence now. I mean, how could a large company possibly lose such massive data like that? It’s not like they’re hiring security analysts and other staff for nothing yet getting top dollar on the payroll.

I guess this would be email-related and a big social media site is affected. God bless our data. We know for certain that this has nothing to do with crypto—but the implication is always there, so we shouldn’t get too comfy about it.
