7041  Economy / Reputation / Re: The most influential people of the forum. Who are they? on: August 13, 2022, 04:55:36 AM
I do not think there is any reason to judge who is the most influential base on the most merit. Because there are a lot of people who got 1000 merit as an airdrop and latter didn't receive any merit.
If you want to use Merit for this, https://bpip.org/Report?r=earnedmerit is what you're looking for.
7042  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: OrangeFren.com - instant, KYC-free, exchange comparison on: August 13, 2022, 04:50:18 AM
generally don't require KYC verification
So the "KYC-free" claim is misleading Sad

Quote
some check if the coins are tainted
Can you share how they check that? And list the exchanges in [Blacklist] of unreliable, 'taint proclaiming' Bitcoin services / exchanges?
Taint only exists if people believe it does! The notion of "taint" is very bad for Bitcoin. Allow me to quote myself:
I've seen several posts lately from people willing to treat Bitcoin as non-fungible because they believe some coins are "tainted".
I'd say this is a severe threat to Bitcoin, and I wouldn't be surprised if governments use this because they can't stop Bitcoin in any other way. If people believe Bitcoin is "tainted", they won't accept it anymore. "We" should really inform people not to fall for this.
Nobody would reject a dollar bill because it has previously been used in a crime, despite the fact that 85 to 90% contains traces of cocaine. Claiming Bitcoin isn't fungible is just plain stupid.

This never happened to any of my users and in the case of exchanges that have a reputation of doing so in the past there's a red warning on OrangeFren.com.
I didn't see any warning on the selective scammers I mentioned. It's better to avoid them entirely.

our compensation maxes out at 10%
I didn't catch that when you wrote "compensate our users", but after checking the meaning of the word, it turns out "compensate" doesn't mean what I thought it would.

There's a flaw in your Untraceable Bitcoin with Monero: the exchange you use knows exactly which Bitcoin addresses belong to your IP address if you're not using different Tor identities.

Your Disclaim affiliation is genius:

7043  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: OrangeFren.com - instant, KYC-free, exchange comparison on: August 12, 2022, 07:25:24 PM
We also partnered up with some of our best exchanges to offer the OrangeFren Guarantee - a security deposit provided to us by the exchanges to compensate our users in cases of disputes with the exchanges.
Can you share how much they deposited for this?

or when the user is asked to answer KYC or SoF questions and passes the verification.
So it's not KYC-free?
One of the exchanges you're listing is a confirmed selective scammer:
Quote
Selective scammer: this exchange claims to be anonymous, then refuses to send funds and asks for KYC when it's convenient for them.
That's gonna be costly to compensate your users.
7044  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: [BACK ONLINE] Bitcoin block data (665 GB): inputs, outputs and transactions on: August 12, 2022, 03:18:15 PM
Hi, what's the state of ETH addresses dump? Is it uploaded already?
All funded Ethereum addresses: ethereumdata.loyce.club/blockchair_ethereum_addresses_latest.tsv.gz (2.1 GB). I downloaded this from gz.blockchair.com/ethereum/addresses/ on July 21, 2022. There's currently no update available.
7045  Other / Meta / Re: Ninjastic.space - BitcoinTalk Post/Address archive + API on: August 12, 2022, 02:48:26 PM
the last 1200 or so posts have not been scraped.
Don't worry, I have a backup Tongue
Seriously though: @TryNinja: let me know which posts you missed, and I'll get you a compressed file once your scraper is back. Let's face it: your search system is much better Smiley
7046  Economy / Reputation / Re: Is ...<name>... still/on DT/yet? - Requests welcome. on: August 12, 2022, 02:42:28 PM
I've used the ;dt suffix while viewing my trust feedback and can see Lauda's negative trust feedback, however, on your "IS" page they are showing as being DT2 in the negative by six, yet on your other page it looks like the are in the positive by one (unless I've miscounted??)
Some people wiped their Trust list, so there could be small recent changes. BPIP currently puts Lauda at DT2 (strength 3), which seems to be correct.
I found the bug: by checking only the username, I counted Laudanum's DT2-exclusions instead of Lauda's inclusions. It's working again.

Quote
I don't reference the IS pages very often, but I find they are interesting to show ebs and flows in users' overall trust at the monthly changeover.
I'm not sure how long the wrong data was shown, so I've added a warning that the data was incorrect.
7047  Economy / Reputation / Re: [FUN] Is DdmrDdmr even human? on: August 12, 2022, 02:00:44 PM
They both still lost from @suchmoon and @LoyceV in all-time stats, but they have been in close competition in the last 30 days even though currently @fillippone is still in the lead.
I've been slacking in the past months as a Merit source. My source used to be close to zero, now it's usually around 100-200. I don't have the time to read more posts, and already drop 4-6 or more Merit per post most of the time.
So by all means, if you find good posts (that I can read): post them in Report unmerited good posts to Merit Source. I'd love to hold the 30 days record for a month. I must be of the biggest Merits hoarders by now, with over 2000 sMerits.

I could of course do what DdmrDdmr does, and dump them all on posts that I've Merited already, but that's a bit extreme Tongue
7048  Bitcoin / Wallet software / Re: I found a paper wallet on a beach ... seriously on: August 12, 2022, 01:53:45 PM
Forget about ethics for a while. Who should have ownership versus who does have the ownership differs. The protocol listens to the latter. And since ownership is defined by the protocol, whoever has the keys is the owner.
It's almost as if Bitcoin is designed to be electronic cash Wink Old fashioned paper banknotes are exactly the same: you may have found it, and you may not be the owner based on ethics, but when you spend it, none of that matters to the receiver.
7049  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Electrum syncing issue on: August 12, 2022, 01:44:38 PM
If he does not know how to configure an Electrum Server, could someone not create a Server for him, with the "default" value turned off, so that he can access that Server to finalize the transaction?
OP could ask mocacinno, he created private Electrum Server [bitcointalk members only] but the topic is inactive for 3 years.

7051  Economy / Reputation / Re: Clearing my trust list on: August 12, 2022, 06:20:38 AM
It's worse than that: if the people who use the Trust system correctly drop out, that leaves the ones who shouldn't be on DT1.
Which brings up another point. If users shouldn't be on DT1 then why the hell are they even eligible? Kinda makes no sense.
That's the problem with decentralisation: "the users" have to decide. Theymos doesn't want to be the guy who decides who can or can't be on DT1 (and I hope I'm not out of line here "speaking for theymos", this is solely based on the information I've seen so far). Kinda like how Trust isn't moderated I guess.

Quote
If I wanna call someone a bitch I will. No reason for me to hide, I want a person to know what I think about them.
You can do that by now, but for newer users who see red tags for basically anything, this is a scary place to call people out.

I'm still pondering whether I should follow Yahoo62278 and clear my list.  It's not a small decision to make IMO.
Question to the "list-clearers": do you add DefaultTrust? Because that's what happens when your list is empty. Or only add a user who hasn't left a single feedback (such as satoshi), so you'll see every profile as neutral?

Take LoyseV for example.. Should be a pretty easy choice to add to your inclusions list right?
Well, I greatly disagree with them including Vod and excluding OG, so there is the compromise..
We can argue about Vod, but indeed it's a compromise from my side. I agree with most of his tags, but not all. OG's exclusion I've explained here, in case you haven't seen it.
7052  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: [BACK ONLINE] Bitcoin block data (665 GB): inputs, outputs and transactions on: August 10, 2022, 08:15:14 PM
I just got a very nice Xeon-powered dedicated server (no more VPS!) from an anonymous donation, so I'm covered for now.
Update: the server is currenly offline for an upgrade Cheesy With more disk space, I can add Ethereum data from Blockchair (which I have locally already), and later Dogecoin data too.

I've been playing with an idea: I want to make a graph of funded (potential) ChipMixer chips over the years, with daily data.

Assumptions:
I'll start by looking for addresses that received 0.512BTC. I'll exclude all addresses that received more than one transaction (ever), and I'll count the chips from the day they were funded until they day they're emptied. In Bitcoin's early years, before ChipMixer even existed, many potential chips were emptied the same day again. Those won't be counted.

Problem:
There's a lot of data, and I don't do databases. I was actually running out of disk space to sort the data, so this upgrade came at the right time.
7053  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Electrum syncing issue on: August 10, 2022, 08:10:36 PM
If the number of transactions is really what's causing the issue, there's a fourth option: get someone with Bitcoin Core to import the address (NOT the privkey), create a transaction to any address you want, copy the raw transaction, send it to you, and you can import, VERIFY and sign it (even offline) in Electrum. I've never tested it this way, but I think it should work and you can broadcast it.
Then, abandon the overused addy.

Hoping that MehMeh is okay, I will say
She's all fine again, thanks Smiley
7055  Other / Meta / Re: The DT system needs to change. on: August 10, 2022, 05:52:27 PM
There's another thing the forum needs:
I encourage anyone to create their own custom Trust list!
Advertise this! Can it be on top of each page (like "News" once in a while? I just counted: only 5053 users (except for users with no posts) have a custom Trust list. That could be much more.

So, should we turn back to a previous more, how was that, ..centralized trust system?  Roll Eyes
You can already get a preview: wipe your Trust list, remove DefaultTrust, and add only theymos. You'll have theymos on Depth 0, theymos' Trust inclusions on Depth 1, and their Trust inclusions on Depth 2. Considering theymos barely changed his Trust list in the past years, you can expect walk down memory lane Cheesy
7058  Other / Meta / Re: The DT system needs to change. on: August 10, 2022, 03:33:01 PM
if the community support a minimum of 2 DT1 inclusions, it may also not be bad too, but just that it will be harder for people that are in DT1 to get to DT2.
That's not how it works, DT1-members are above DT2.

This is how the number of required DT1-inclusions influences the number of users on DT2:
I counted DT2-inclusions on Trust settings: there are 33 users with 0 (net) inclusions on DT2, and 308 with 1 inclusion.
Longer list (Update: this list includes DT1-members (when included by another DT1-member, they're on DT2 too)):
Code:
-6: 13
-5: 20
-4: 36
-3: 89
-2: 284
-1: 2723
0: 33
1: 308
2: 94
3: 61
4: 34
5: 23
6: 15
7: 9
8: 7
9: 9
10: 10
11: 7
12: 4
I'd say the minimum should be DT2 strength (2). That removes about half the users, and makes it less of a "burden" to include someone.

I still think "protesting" against DefaultTrust by emptying your Trust list is counter-effective. It may be better to remove DefaultTrust and leave your custom list.

EDIT: done, I cleaned my trust list also, and I will consider making new one after (possible) DT theymos reform.
Maybe, in a BOFH moment, theymos will reform DT1 by handpicking you back Tongue

Seriously though:
I am never completely tied to anything, but let's try this for at least a few months and see how it works.
But without offering a better system, what do you expect theymos to do?

If this is to make a point that DT needs fixing, it should be in Meta, not Reputation.
7060  Economy / Reputation / Re: Clearing my trust list on: August 10, 2022, 10:38:31 AM
Just clearing my understanding. These are the users who are eligible to be DT1 but not in the current DT1 list, in other words they are not the 100 users who are in DT1 in the running month's corn job.
See this topic for the criteria I used (and the ones I ignored).
Some of the users in the list are currently on DT1 already.

See if they have good trust ratings and good trust lists, and add them to your Trust list.
Yes but it's not stopping the abusers to use the loophole of the current DefautTrust system.
It's a game of numbers: if more good users are eligible, less abusers reach DT1. If all good users quit, only the abusers are left.
