7081  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: will Bitcoin clock 4k today. on: March 29, 2019, 12:27:18 PM
Today is really a good day when Bitcoin has touched the price of $4100 and we can be more secure in the long term because the number of buyers is increasing, making the market more and more stable. I think April will be a time when people can freely make the most profit because a lot of great information is waiting and I believe that making a profit will make people more confident in considering new investment

Yes, I see that the price of Bitcoin has surpasses $4100 again so indeed this is a great day for us. However, don't get excited with this rally today, I'm sure you know that we have seen this kind of bounce in the last month. And it's hard for us to get to the hump of that $4200 barrier so we are again at that point. The question is can we sustain this rally or go back to sub $4000 again and all the hard work and green candles are gone in matter of minutes? Or are this for real? We will see in the next coming days.
7082  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: STOP FOLLOWING BITCOIN WITH SENTIMENTS! on: March 29, 2019, 12:16:55 PM
Most people misjudge bitcoin. They only see a moment's profit, without learning more risk in it. When playing investment in the wrong way, it will hurt yourself and make the value of bitcoin worse in the eyes of many people.

And that is one fatal mistaken on their end, specially if they think that the price of Bitcoin could go on parabolic rise. How many noobs investors who got burned when they FOMO and irrationally buying bitcoin at the top price in 2017?

I don't trust these experts 100% percent logic tell us to be realistic, if you follow these so-called experts like John Mcafee you will end up losing imagine that he predicted that Bitcoin will worth $1 million at the end of this year, now is this realistic, if you believe that you will end up selling everything you have.

It's because there are no so called experts here. They are just like you and me in this market, a speculator and just go and make predictions based on news and the market sentiments. John McAfee is more of a influencer, and other who is perma-bull is obviously either have companies who worked with clientele of investors or just have a huge investments on bitcoin that's why they keep preaching the same thing over and over again.
7083  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2019-03-28] North Korean Hackers Don’t Give a $#%! about Crypto Winter on: March 29, 2019, 12:06:22 PM

State hackers are good in making it look like it was x country that initiated a cyber attack, while in reality it's not like that at all. It's too easy to put all the blame on North Korea, regardless of how much we dislike them.

This one. Everyone has a scape-goat and sadly it looks like North Korea is to put to blame for everything including cyber attacks. Of course there could be reason that "Lazarus" project is for real, but it doesn't make sense if they focused mainly on stealing crypto from exchanges. This might be just a front, but something deep inside is going on in North Korea but I do think it's more on stealing state secrets and then those who crypto hacks are just some cover up to a more malicious intent.
7084  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Do you watch the matches you're gambling on on: March 29, 2019, 08:58:47 AM
As a sports fans, I would say yes. But as a gambler, sometimes you are put on a big stress watching the live games because you don't know if you're going to win or not. That's why most of the time I just look at the live score and never watch the game. Another thing though is that most of the games I bet usually plays like 12 am - 6 am, so obviously I can't catch those games and watch the match unfolds.
7085  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Tennis League All Thread on: March 29, 2019, 08:48:58 AM
And the results are in.

Halep vs Pliskova  - Pliskova  demolished Halep 7-5, 6-1
Barty vs Kontaveit - Barty won, 6-3, 6-3.

Pliskova vs Barty for the finals. I see Pliskova taking this one. She's playing great specially she is riding from the momentum win against Halep.

Federer vs Anderson. Federer win's easy. I thought Anderson will gave him some challenges, But Roger is on the tee right now, 6-0, 6-4.

Tiafoe vs Shapovalov. Shapovalov needed 3 sets 7-6, 4-6, 3-6 to win.

So it will be Federer vs Shapovalov on the semis together with Isner vs Felix Auger Aliassime on the other draw.
7086  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Gemini is full on with native SegWit!!! (And uses Blockstream's block explorer on: March 28, 2019, 05:35:30 PM
What do you think will be the impact if all trading exchanges started to adopt Segwit (P2SH type) and (P2WPKH type)?

Of course there will be impact. We might not felt the effect right now, but in the long run when mempool started to choke again as transactions are getting bigger, maybe using Segwit will be an advantage to those trading platforms who chooses to adopt it right now.

ps. I am wondering whether things like this can create some sort of competition. for example will traders choose Gemeni over Coinbase because they support SegWit?

Probably some will specially again in cases when there is a network congestion. Perhaps traders will shift to a exchange wherein they can withdraw/deposit funds much quicker because of Segwit adoption.
7087  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Tennis League All Thread on: March 28, 2019, 04:40:23 PM
It's already semis in the women's side.

Halep vs Pliskova - (Perhaps the winner will most likely take the trophy this year)
Barty vs Kontaveit - (Not familiar with those names though)

For men's QF.
Federer vs Anderson
Tiafoe vs Shapovalov

Winner of eah match will face each other for the SF. Isner vs Auger Aliassime (we should watch this kid and see if he has the potential in the next 2-5 years) has booked there own semis already.
7088  Economy / Exchanges / Re: hitbtc.com Blocked for no reason account. on: March 28, 2019, 04:30:05 PM
Ok. Probably the next question to the OP is, are you still gonna used this trading platform after what has happened to you? If I'm in your shoes then I will definitely liquidate all my assets on that exchange and move somewhere to a exchange with reputation.
7089  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2019-03-28] Bitcoin Exchange Coinbene Swears it Wasn’t Hacked: Traders Fear the on: March 28, 2019, 03:59:17 PM
Funny though, I just created an account to that site and never heard about this hacked. Just wanted to trade some tokens their that I found I can play with  Grin. Anyways, I know that that they have been faking their volumes based on lots of recent reports, but what the heck, just a small amount won't hurt my portfolio. Smiley. So let's see how it goes, I might just do a hit-and-run trading and then never come back to Coinbene again.
7090  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Why do youtube "Expert Traders" keep asking money for their "premium tips"? on: March 28, 2019, 03:49:06 PM
I have been trying to watch some YouTube videos about crypto trading and also tried to read some articles to understand the different indicators but one thing that baffles me is that most of them claim to have made lots of money from day trading, and yet they continue asking people to subscribe for their Premium content for $100,$150 etc

Business. They are in the business of making money out of crypto that's why they wanted to sell everything to anyone who will bite on what they are offering.

If they claim to have made lots of money through their good trading strategies then why do they ask for money? Is it too much greed for more money, or they are simply lying about making money from their strategies?

Maybe they are not experts after all. And who the hell will 'grade' them and tell them they are in the first place. This whole crypto sphere has spun too much of a money making machine for everyone. I remember when I was just starting my journey as a online market like 10 years ago, I fall for this kind of trap selling tips in a PDF format, but once you buy and read them, they are just rehearse or just a copy of other "tips" where you can get it for free.
7091  Economy / Economics / Re: What the true believers know but don't express well on: March 28, 2019, 03:39:18 PM
For the true believers, Bitcoin will always have value as long as it exists.

Do you mean Bitcoin maximalist?  Grin

We will be happy to work or sell goods for 1 btc even if we know the price will move in the future.

Because there are majority who wanted to used Bitcoin more as a currency.

The increase of true believers, of their revenue and of their networth drives the price up because as they get older, they get richer and as they get richer, they get more bitcoins. The process takes year and increases bitcoin's strengh and bottoms.

But it also takes a lot of discipline to hold on it for a long time and when to sell to book more profits.

It's not a year or 2 bear market that will chase previous true believers and new true believers arrive in the community everyday and it's pushing the price higher.

The community is growing, just look at how many member we currently have in this forum, it already exceeded millions about a year ago and there are a lot of new faces coming in and in no time pushing the price or believing that the price could increase in the next 2 years.
7092  Economy / Speculation / Re: What will happen when the stock market crashes? on: March 28, 2019, 03:01:16 PM
bitcoin market is still young and small, so we have no way of knowing how it is going to react to different incidents and we have already seen that there are irrational behaviors in the market from time to time reacting to things they shouldn't react to and going in opposite directions of logically expected before.

Correct, sample size of crypto is small that we can't used it a basis let's say the looming financial crisis or when the stock market crashes. So for now, we really don't know what's going to happen. Maybe some of them will moved to crypto as hedge or just will liquidate their assets.

I'd say anything is possible but my guess is that two scenarios are more possible than others. bitcoin is either not going to be affected at all and continues on the trend that it was on at the time of stock market crash or it will take a positive effect meaning its rise will become faster.

Let's see if either scenario will happen. For one, I don't see any correlation, but as you have said, in times of crisis people do irrational behavior just to survived and we might see a few shifting their funds to crypto or just go for precious metals as leverage.
7093  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Just had account hacked. Please help :S. on: March 28, 2019, 02:51:39 PM
Hello fellow bitcoiners I have recently had my account at an exchange compromised and am out to the tune of tens of thousands. Harsh day to be sure. I realize there is little hope of ever seeing that money again but I would like to investigate this as far as I can. I have the bitcoin address the funds have moved to as well as several IP addresses that were used to carry out the attack. If anyone thinks they can help please message me.

I'm sorry to hear about your loss. You see, addresses doesn't have a name attached to it so it's unlikely that you can recover your funds as transactions are irreversible. As others have pointed out, this is a hard and expensive lessons to learn.

I have changed relevant account information and contacted the exchange. Any suggestions of next steps would be appreciated.

Try to scan your machine of any malware, enable 2FA if possible in your accounts in the future. Don't put all your money in an exchange, just like what happen to you or in cases a exchange get's hack your funds will be all gone as well.
7094  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Jihan Wu is no longer CEO of Bitmain on: March 28, 2019, 02:41:57 PM
Ok let us go a step back and see what contributes to Jihan's being booted as CEO

1. Support of BCH
2. Expanding their mining farm (Texas, if I'm not mistaken, which cost them millions)
3. Failed IPO.
4. Supported BCH in the war against Bitcoin SV

I think the last straw for the board of directors decision to let him go as CEO and be replaced is my number 3. They have lost millions of millions specially when the price of BCH decline in this bear market. And this news surfaced as early as December 2018 and early 2019. There are even reports that Jihan is starting his own mining company. Anyways, let's see which direction would be the new CEO will bring Bitmain in the next coming years.

LOL. You are not the only one who losses on that Djokovic match. I put a big bet on him, seeing him win the first set easy. However the rain did some damage, it broke his momentum and Agut caught fire and this is the second time he dealt Djokovic an early exit. Anyways, just part of the game, we win some and we lose some. Agut will be facing Isner, so I don't know if I'm going to bet against him.  Grin
I will not bet in that match.

Isner is doing well and Agut's confidence is on the top. So, it will be hard to take a side.

Sorry to hear your lose bud. Yh we win some and lose some. It's the entertainment that matters.

Cheers :-)

And just like that, Isner took the long route but beat Agut on his own game. 7-6,7-6 and ended Agut's run. Federer also advances with a win against Medvedev.  Coric though fell against Auger Aliassime, another young prospect at 18 years of age. QF match to watch: Federer vs Anderson, but I think Federer can win this one easy.

No problem with that lost bud,  Grin, yeah at least we have some fun watching the games.
7096  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: A Decentralised platform for Translators! on: March 27, 2019, 03:27:26 PM
I tried DeepL, looks good but the language is limited. At least it doesn't use any blockchain to do its job, and that's fine and probably better imo.
We don't need blockchain for online translation.

I agree, I don't see blockchain making any difference here. Probably the OP just wanted to use the technology behind, but it doesn't really makes sense at all. And who is going to pay to help improved the AI? It's hard to compete against, Google Translate with all the funding behind, I don't know if the project can really compete at high level, sorry to burst the bubble to the OP.
7097  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: with market conditions like this, are there any tips for continuing day trading? on: March 27, 2019, 02:28:06 PM
As long as there are fluctuations in the price charts, day trading will still be a good options to earn profit. For sure there will be times of losses and profits just make sure to rebound higher than losing.

That is, if you know how to read those trend and take advantage of it, otherwise it's going to be hard to make money day trading if you don't know at least some basic. With that said, if you love day trading, then try to learn and anticipate what could be the next move based on the trend of the coins you are planning to day trade. It sounds easy, but it's not, you also need to have some mental toughness and know when to sell and book profits. But for those who doesn't want to complicated things then you have the options to just HODL, just saying.
7098  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2019-03-22] NZ: Hacked Crypto Exchange Cryptopia Reopens its Trading Services on: March 27, 2019, 02:18:35 PM
I don't think how this is going to impact the exchange operations in the future but I see that some serious work has happened.

Definitely it will have a huge impact on the people behind the exchange, specially on how to protect their cold or hot wallet from any hacking. They should emulate or at least learn from the top exchanges right now, like Binance.

I haven't seen before a police investigation for a cryptocurrency exchange hacking that makes the future promising for cyber protection over hackers and online criminals.

I keep the positive facts from this event.

It's because they sought the help of the police and reported the hack that's why NZ police is hot on the trail of the hackers. Well, I do hope that they really learn their lessons and this should be the one last hack we should heard about Cryptopia, otherwise no one will trust this exchange anymore.

When a favorite lose it seems like he doesn't want to be alone. Honestly I was expecting a surprise at Goffin because he won the last 3 meeting with Tiafoe. Same thing I can say about Kvitova. About Djokovic, he played very poor in his last 2 matches giving 4 breaks to some weak opponents. That's why his odd to win was 1.20 when it usually is around 1.10 for any opponent outside the top 10.
May be you are right. I have seen in many occasions. When a favourite lose, they take some more favourite with them LOL

Anyway, I was watching  Djokovic match until the rain interrupt. He won the first set very quick and in the second set he was one game down but it was his serve to equalise.

I was thinking this will be another easy win for him but it did not happen.

I woke up and discovered I lost the rest two as well :-P

LOL. You are not the only one who losses on that Djokovic match. I put a big bet on him, seeing him win the first set easy. 7100  Economy / Speculation / Re: Is the bearish road over? on: March 27, 2019, 01:38:18 PM
Not sure about it but atleast we are already staying and playing at $4k floor after staying below $4k for how many months. Well, for me I expect a slow increase in the following months since we stayed at $4k. Slow increase is  better, I don't feel a trap near. As of now I see no reason that can make the price go even lower and higher.

Yes, that a good indication, at least we are not seeing the price going down below $3600 at this point. It went slightly below $4000 if I'm not mistaken, but we quickly regain it and we are back above that price once again. Might be a sign that the bears is really exhausted at this point and there are no one thinking of selling their precious bitcoin. But we should give at least at the end of the year, or at least the last quarter of the year to see where we are, specially before the much anticipated block halving next year. So it's going to be exciting, might be a slow grind but let the market flow organically and see where it goes before the end of the year.
