7081  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2021-07-15] Rumors Fly That Apple Has Bought $2.5 Billion In Bitcoin on: July 15, 2021, 09:40:38 AM
It never crossed my mind that one day, "sauces" would become a reliable source for cryptocurrency-related stuff Cheesy

I'm not familiar with most of the people that kept spreading that rumor further but by the look of things, they just want to capitalize on the situation by being in the spotlight...
- Personally, I highly doubt we'd witness such a move anytime soon.

I never thought that TikTokers who probably never actually had a wallet of their own would be wealthier and more respected than good old Bitcoin educators who spread the word and did only positive things for those around them. But hey, I guess the world is unfair;)

This would be more believable if Apple were to be buying some other nonsense coin like, I don't know, Libracoin. Cause, you know, Apple. Think different. haha.

So River Plate killed our acca, but there's still the Midtylland game to play, if that one hits, we get our bet back as insurance, so we'll hold out on that one first. We turn our eyes now to ATP tennis, and if we do well, we'll smack one down the Europe football lane again later today. For now:

100 units at Sportsbet on Gambos, Fognini, Ruud, Laksonen to WIN @6.00. Other odds: 5.7
Units advantage: 30

Running advantage after 410 bets: +27,352 (+30)
All-time cumulative: +65,750
Running units after 409 bets (63W|346L): +12,478 (-100)

It is always hard when some migrates to another city to find education or new job. I made the journey myself, so I can understand how difficult it can be. But the beauty of this is that your children will not face the same issues that you have faced. You are already settled down in the capital city, so your children's don't need to move to another city to find job. In all probability you are having a good job and your own house, so the kids don't have to worry about accommodation and other aspects. That is how life goes on in modern world.

As did I. If there's one thing I learn about children and generational lessons, though, sometimes you got to live a struggle to understand and appreciate it. It's natural to want the most comfort for those who come after you, but there's a danger that that sort of shelter can have them lose out on empathy and appreciation. Even some small personal lessons for me trying to pass down Bitcoin (or rather, the culture of saving and protecting value for the long term). If they didn't earn it, they don't protect it as well, I've noticed;)

hard work is required when migrating to another city in search of a living. In addition to working hard and getting results, they should try to manage expenses to have a better tomorrow. but the good thing that can be learned is usually they are a formidable figure if they succeed in that new city, where the psychology is mature

It's especially more difficult when you come from the rural areas. Hard work is a given, but there's also a lot to overcome, and a fair bit of luck. I suppose a lot of us have been through that period and some come out better than others.
7084  Other / Archival / Re: Bitcoin Retrospective for 2020 on: July 14, 2021, 04:09:42 PM
Let's see how events will develop at the end of the year. Many believe that by this time Bitcoin will try to storm ath again, and maybe even break it. If on New Year's Eve the price is about $50 000, I will be incredibly happy, although I am preparing for less joyful prospects. In any case, if bitcoin is worth more than $20 000, I will be in a good profit.

But then I will continue to accumulate bitcoin and wait for better times. I don't want to repeat the mistakes of 2017-2018, selling all bitcoin for next to nothing.

Gotta say it's still looking like it, yeah, although there are already those prepping to sound the death knell for this rally, seeing them news items and analysts coming out the woodwork already. I'm in the same "happy if more than 20k" boat, but I have to confess, it will be an underwhelming year if we see 2022 without celebrating another ATH first.
7085  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: ⚽UEFA Champions League Discussion Thread -- now at: 21/22 Qualifying Prelims on: July 14, 2021, 02:20:14 PM
Call me stupid but I'm backing Alashkert to lose tonight, hopefully in the same way as Cluj last night.

1st in Premier League Armenia (and actually I do like betting on them) but they had to fight out a 2-2 draw the last leg, that gives minnows and back to back Welsh champions Nomads a big chance. 12/1, I like my odds. Wales vs Armenia come on;)

7086  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: British police seize $408 million and arrest woman aged 39 on: July 14, 2021, 01:01:54 PM
Think you're right OP. If it's that amount of crypto belonging to one person, the age fits right, and she has been suspected to be in London, just surprised it took police so long to locate her, given how highly visible she was at one point, and how well-surveilled the UK (and especially London) is. I was led to think by Spooks their network could face-ID someone in hours haha!

The police claimed they seized cryptocurrency, however, the article does not say how and what they seized. I am skeptical. They might not have seized anything and if they seized something, what kind of cryptocoins? It might be a wallet full of Binance smartchain tokens hehehe.

Even better if they got all the master "wallets" of Onecoin;)
7087  Economy / Economics / Re: Poor and middle class as a mentality on: July 14, 2021, 10:44:21 AM
Unfortunately that is the type of place I live as well and I am not sure if it is getting any better neither but a friend helped me understand something better. I know that when I tell people where I am from people think about places like London or New York, but the reality is that 55% of the population is either working for either minimum wage or not working at all (this is all the people between ages 18-65, so there are many more who are under 18 and over 65 that doesn't work as expected too, hence only 30% or so of the city takes care of everyone else).

Long story short we are talking about something that is horrible in the short term, but what my friend helped me realize was the fact that even while we are doing bad now, it is still better than what we had in history, I mean even the biggest King never had the chance to use computers, so it is still getting better.

I agree that even or sometimes especially in urban cities, if you live on the wrong side of the gap, it's really not a fun life. I went to my capital myself in my teens and it was a pretty big culture shock. No swanky neighbourhoods, renting spaces on the floor and not rooms, sharing with 20 other people and using communal taps and bathrooms.

But there, at least there was access to better your life and escape the cycle, is what I'm saying. You talk of a time when Kings didn't have computers. I talk of a time when most of the world will live and die without the opportunity to read or write, much less touch a computer.

But there is a mentality at play here for sure. You can't break out without the right one.
7088  Other / Archival / Re: Bitcoin Retrospective for 2020 on: July 14, 2021, 08:20:28 AM
Do you think a lot of people did the same?

Maybe yes. I also brought out a good piece of my bitcoin reserves in the new year. But after bitcoin flew above $28 000, I began to accumulate more than spend. In any case, I don't want to. Even selling at $20 000+, it was still a good profit for me.  Smiley

Yeah, that's what I thought too. I know it's just anecdotal evidence, but I was sure there was a lot more to coincidence that not a few of us started to sell when ATH broke -- even though we believed the rally was just beginning. Selling today would still have made me a significant amount more, but in my case, waiting for the ATH would have been not worth it either (because the price of what I bought actually went up even more, if you can believe).

Time to sit for another few years, eh?
7089  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Odds, units advantage | Sportsbook | +64894 units on: July 14, 2021, 06:52:17 AM
NO! Qatar just got edged out, drawing after Panama put away a penalty nicely. My man Ali still on goalscoring form, so that was the silver lining, but they've got to score more and outfox their opponent's offence if they want to keep pace.

Copa games all around and a leg from Champions League and Scandinavia!

100 units at Sportsbet, boosted, insured on Midtylland, Legia Warsaw, Palmeiras, Flamengo and River Plater (HT) to WIN@22.54. Other odds: 21.12

7090  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Why the birth of Bitcoin triggered a revolution in accounting? on: July 14, 2021, 05:54:12 AM
thank you for your sharing. In fact, many times we don't need to have too much professional knowledge. The key is that we know its basic logic. I am writing this article now, mainly to show that the invention of Bitcoin has greatly changed economics and accounting. However, what has changed and how has changed will require more professional scholars to study.

Perhaps not yet changed, and it may be, like most inventions, only gain its due recognition belatedly. But we can only explore this with the work people put into it. Good luck!

Yes, this is where the idea of Bitcoin is clever. It can achieve balance among participants in the continuous game of multiple parties.

It can and it has, remarkably well over the last 11/12 years. I don't think a great many smart people could have foreseen just how effective it was at doing this: achieving participation balance, one that has only become stronger with time =)
7091  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: ⚽UEFA Champions League Discussion Thread -- now at: 21/22 Qualifying Prelims on: July 13, 2021, 07:34:58 PM
Now that at least is easy to find for Champions League. You have a message on telegram since I am not sure if it is cool to share it here Smiley

Betting wise, I have no clue what to do in these early rounds. Just took that Sportsbet special for goals in second half.

Thank you as usual, and good to take precautions anyway;)

Took 2 specials myself, dead on the first very early and then dead on the remainder after only 5 games hahaha. But also got a few of the other games acca'd into some other super early bets on Gold Cup, MLS and Chinese League. I have a really really bad habit of mixing UEFA club matches with other leagues.

I haven't won a football bet since QFs of EURO... that's a long time ago. Thanks for tennis seriously.

7092  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Sportsbet.io Betting discussion thread rev on: July 13, 2021, 06:56:25 PM
But I made up for it with the 12.5x special on over 0.5 goals in 2nd half. That's more likely too right?
I took it just now. This is first time in history I see that special is still live and 3 games are almost at the half way line. Logical since the bet is only for second half but surprised anyway. Should be easy to hit but that first half goals @45 sounds even better. Especially when it already passed in the first 3 games.

Yeah, in fact, first 4 games by the time I checked, was really kicking myself (I'd have taken it even at 20x probably) because I actually really like those specials when it involves non-elite teams, who seem keen to play for scoring draws.

Anyway, the Multi Special already died with Malmo HAHAHA to myself.

But Updates on both these 1H/2H specials: dead. FC Sheriff1 - 0Teuta Durres killed the 2nd half special, but this was swiftly followed by Borac Banja Luka - CFR Cluj and HTFC Prishtina - Ferencvaros who failed to score at HT.

Only March sticks out for me, if I'm honest. Everything else was just random noise, but I have to say I can even remember being online when it happened, was work and we had a lot of people panic (remote shit so I see a lot).

On a personal note, the year end was pretty cool too, a lot of excitement, holiday mood, in the final month of my old job, and pandemic Christmas, but all kinds of optimism happening around Bitcoin in general. That was also when I sold a significant bunch of BTC so I definitely remember a bit of that reluctant pain/joy Wink I also know quite a few others who did the same, for a new house, new life, etc. We all knew the real rally was coming but also wanted to enjoy a little. Do you think a lot of people did the same?
7094  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: ⚽UEFA Champions League Discussion Thread -- now at: 21/22 Qualifying Prelims on: July 13, 2021, 04:22:42 PM
I recognize most of the teams, betting-wise it's a guessing game though. Better to skip a few of these early rounds, these low-tier teams can vary by a huge amount from season to season.

Much the same for me, and the odds don't look particularly exciting for the close ones. I actually don't mind taking on bets when the underdog is actually quite high up their own league table, but I see some severe mismatches, so no go for me. But I do love those 10+ to 1 odds, these nights are fun!

Now the other fun part will be to look for the streams...

Go Hibs! Still 0-0!

Valur look nice at a 9/1 boost? Iceland power gone after WC huh?
7095  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Sportsbet.io Betting discussion thread rev on: July 13, 2021, 03:56:49 PM
I hate myself. I missed that 45x special guys, urgh! Took the smaller one but I feel like the 0.5 goals is actually likelier to hit ha ha. But I made up for it with the 12.5x special on over 0.5 goals in 2nd half. That's more likely too right?

But yes, I had a good and fun Sunday, loads of free bets even though I wasn't even really on for half of the day. I would have been murdered slowly by my significant other had I chosen to stay online all day haha.

Good luck for... Champions League tonight =D
7096  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Why the birth of Bitcoin triggered a revolution in accounting? on: July 13, 2021, 02:48:37 PM
Reminds me when a few years ago some economists were claiming Bitcoin's actually the birth of a new form of accounting. Some like here just called it triple-entry accounting, but many came forth to say it wasn't actually so, still double-entry but with the addition of a consensus network. I don't hear the term bandied around anymore.

I guess you're with the latter?

Disclaimer: not an accountant so don't know how to go for or against, just sharing.

7097  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Odds, units advantage | Sportsbook | +64894 units on: July 13, 2021, 09:09:11 AM
Failed tennis special. Wild, Baez came through but Munar crashed and Berankis retired so we lost.

Let's do a double-sized acca instead on some tough internationals and Asian/American footie shall we?

200 units at Sportsbet on CA Patronato Parana, Chengdu Qianbao, Wuhan Three Towns, Qatar and Honduras to WIN @5.90. Other odds: 5.78
Bet ID: 60ed3ed1d56983e2c1f9f42b
Units advantage: 24

Running advantage after 408 bets: +27,180 (+24)
All-time cumulative: +65,578
Running units after 407 bets (63W|344L): +12,778 (-100)
7098  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Sportsbet.io "Soccer Blackjack" @ 21.00 odds on: July 12, 2021, 07:22:43 PM
Didn't even realise the game had finished, but for a scoreless draw, game managed a respectable push:

Goals: 0
Cards: 3
Corners: 13
TOTAL: 16

side note: I wonder if the limit is down to 2 mBTC for good this time. I wish we could have had one more 5 mBTC win before it was lowered.
I agree with you ... considering that there are probably those who, after the first or second blackjack, permanently bet 5 mBTC. And since we did not have a win for about 9 weeks, but at the same time there were 5 losses, the profitability of a win with a limit of 2 mBTC will be only x3.2 [Correct me if I am wrong]

5 losses means 25mbtc if maxed out every loss.

a 2mbtc win would net 40mbtc profit, and still a net 15mbtc profit if you bet max every loss since the last win? So 7.5x?
7099  Bitcoin / Press / Re: 2021-07-10 Btc Mag - The Inevitability Of Bitcoin Supremacy on: July 12, 2021, 01:51:11 PM
El Salvador will be a test, but not the litmus test. As a reminder, dollar supremacy test there failed, but that didn't spell the dollar's doom in other countries adopting it since (thinking of at least one country in 2011 that did, where USD continues to reign in the black market far above its own pound).

Predictions of Bitcoin supremacy, however plausible or not, are only a matter of curiosity for me, as we won't live long enough to see US dollar get thrown out. Displaced by yuan maybe, but only to take 2nd place.
7100  Economy / Speculation / Re: The market is full of opportunities to come on: July 12, 2021, 12:03:22 PM
In this situation, the investors buy for a small amount while they also test the market. When everything goes well, the price will start to increase and the market will change the movement.

You're not an investor if you're testing the market. You've done the testing, you've done the research. You're buying because you've arrived at that decision after doing all your DD and assessments, and this is your conclusion.

If this isn't your situation, then, no, you're not an investor.  You're a speculator. In which case, you're in the right section of the forum, but carrying the wrong label for yourself;)
