7101  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: 650 U.S. banks will soon be able to offer bitcoin purchases on: July 01, 2021, 02:24:16 PM
I have tried to find a similar topic and wondering how this news was missed in the forum. 650 US banks will open Bitcoin purchases, I think it's not a small adaption if it happens really.

I read something about this back in early May Bitcoin is coming to hundreds of U.S. banks this year, says crypto custody firm NYDIG, but I also found a topic about it here. Also, all of this was preceded by news from last year Big decision by the OCC - Banks can now hodl Bitcoins.

How good or bad this is for BTC is hard to say at the moment, as the question arises as to whether people really want to invest in Bitcoin - and it should not be forgotten that the US has the largest crypto ATM network in the world and also the largest crypto exchange. Therefore, it is not a problem for them to invest, but the real problem is their tax system, which for most is a real nightmare (if we look at it from some other parts of the world).
7102  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2021-06-23] South Korea seizes crypto assets from wealthy tax dodgers on: July 01, 2021, 01:31:32 PM
Lets talk about the tax evasion later, how do people get busted for holding this amount of bitcoins...

In addition to what @NeuroticFish has already written, I would add that people still think that Bitcoin can give them absolute anonymity, which is why they behave so naively in an effort to avoid paying taxes. What catches my eye is the fact that some TV stars and doctors are mentioned in this story, and it would be reasonable to assume that they are somewhat intelligent and can afford legal assistance - and any lawyer would certainly give them the right advice to avoid such actions.

I don’t know what the SK property monitoring system is like, but it’s easiest to determine that someone is hiding something if their assets don’t match their income - so it’s possible that some have drawn attention to themselves that way.
7103  Economy / Speculation / Re: How come BTC is still so cheap? on: July 01, 2021, 10:47:16 AM
I don't understand by what criteria you claim that Bitcoin is extremely cheap? I agree that it is cheap for those who have a lot of money, but for them everything is available and cheap regardless of the price, given that their wealth is beyond the comprehension of most people.

Is $30 000+ extremely cheap for you or for most ordinary people - regardless of the fact that anyone can buy BTC in the amount of only $10? For someone who until a few weeks ago wrote almost every day that he entered BTC (2013) too late, referring of course to the price - you suddenly wonder why the average Joe doesn't pull $30k out of his sock and buy 1 BTC?

But for me the fact that El Salvador joined in means a lot, it's the perfect indicator things will be great. Too bad not everyone can see it. They deserve to be poor and use fiat I guess.

Until a few days ago, 90% of people didn't even know how to show El Salvador on the world map, and today they think that one poor and corrupt third world country will make a difference and launch BTC on the moon?
7104  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: China's game plan on: July 01, 2021, 10:31:21 AM
I have not yet formed my theory, I also wrote that the Chinese CBDC will replace bitcoin, therefore such sanctions.
Does anyone think a little more globally?
The sanctions against miners will lead to the decentralization of bitcoin around the world.
Covid is only testing for the destruction of the population.
The next viruses will be more terrifying.
All evil comes from China ..

How can central bank digital currency replace Bitcoin, and even more so in China, where trading with it has been banned since 2017? CBDC is a digital version of national currencies, any comparison to Bitcoin is really ridiculous and makes no sense.

As for other theories about viruses and China as a source of evil, you might look at how much evil has come from some so-called democracies in the Western world over the past 30 years. After all, who can say for sure that the virus originated in China, maybe it's someone's plan from the beginning?

I think there are two sides right now, and I find them both amusing

Feel free to add a third, because as you can see there are some who have put together very imaginative conspiracy theories - according to them, we should not worry too much about Bitcoin, because the Chinese are already working on a new deadly virus ... but first they have to deal with Bitcoin.
7105  Economy / Economics / Re: TP ICAP to launch crypto trading platform on: July 01, 2021, 10:14:42 AM
I don't mean to compare TP ICAP with PP but in here I just wanna tell that every news which is support BTC will give positive vibe to the crypto market.

That’s good news, but take the MicroStrategy example and look at how good news affects the market - they buy BTC and the price goes down. The average small investor does not take this into account at all, and the way MS invests in BTC has no effect on price, which leads us to the conclusion that large investors know how to invest in something without seriously affecting the price.

If Apple were to announce that it had invested in BTC, I believe the price would jump up at least 15% to 20% within 24 hours, because it is news that you can sell very well to the masses - try to sell TP ICAP news to anyone but strictly business people, and you will see that it will mean nothing to them.
7106  Economy / Economics / Re: Deutsche Bank issues dire economic warning for America on: June 30, 2021, 01:33:26 PM
~snip~

Such influence of one country on the whole world should not exist, although the fact is that it does exist - which is again the fault of other countries that are too dependent on the US in economic or any other way. The world should not suffer because of American politics and clowns like Bush Jr. or Trump playing cowboys and Indians in the modern world.

Self-sufficiency, strengthening ties between countries in the region, and finally rejecting the idea that we must all be shaken if someone sneezes on the other side of the world, is the path we should take as soon as possible. When I see the so-called united EU and all its weaknesses, I wonder how it is possible that such a community of 500 million people represent almost nothing in a world that has turned into a conflict between the US and China which shapes the rest of the world.
7107  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Will other countries adopt Bitcoin as legal tender after El Salvador's recent mo on: June 30, 2021, 01:00:06 PM
Examples of countries where this is happening is Zimbabwe / Yugoslavia / Venezuela / Hungary ...where they are struggling with hyperinflation.

Yugoslavia has not existed for 30 years, and you claim that they are doing something with Bitcoin there? Furthermore, what kind of hyperinflation are you talking about when it comes to Hungary?

The US Dollar is still powerful even with Bitcoin in play. What could happen is that developed countries back their currencies to the value of 1 Bitcoin. If they did it with Gold, they can do it with Bitcoin.

You still dream about things that are practically incompatible, because gold has been there for thousands of years and has nothing to do with Bitcoin - it is essentially a threat to the current system, not a solution the way you imagine it.
7108  Economy / Speculation / Re: Will BTC Go for Another All Time High This Year? on: June 30, 2021, 10:59:44 AM
Anything is possible by the end of the year, I wouldn't be surprised if the price is less than $20 000, but also if it reaches the new ATH, even if that price is between $70k - $80k only. While some will disagree, summer in the Northern Hemisphere is not a time for people to invest - it is a time for vacations, travel and time with family. I'm pretty sure that something will happen in Q4, it remains to be seen whether the effect of previous halving will be repeated or the pattern will change.

@Oasisman, @Poker Player, @zanezane, do not feed the troll - if you look at his post history you can see that he has been writing the same things for years - he is a person who obviously has serious mental problems.
7109  Economy / Economics / Re: TP ICAP to launch crypto trading platform on: June 30, 2021, 10:34:16 AM
They will not compete with Coinbase, rather with Coinbase Pro, or the various OTC desks in the world, servicing institutional investors seeking wholes sale trading and post trade services.
And I guess ICAP, a legacy world brokers, has the competitive advantage, in a sense like CME had, of the capability to connect with legacy infrastructure of traditional banking world.

It means that there is still room in that part of the business, because I doubt that someone so significant would have launched such a service if they had not thoroughly researched the market. While some may say that there is nothing here for small investors, the news is generally positive and shows that even the biggest ones are showing interest in Bitcoin - of course we should not lie to each other that they care about technology, we all know they want to profit from it.

Like Paypal accepting BTC I hope the market responds positively.  Looking at TCAP's share price which also responded positively, I hope this will have a good impact on the market which is currently undergoing a correction.

I may be wrong, but you can't compare PP and a brokerage firm in terms of market impact - because there is a huge difference for ordinary people - most know about PP, and how many know about TP ICAP, and what does that name mean for them?
7110  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: So, you want to get sued by a scammer? on: June 30, 2021, 10:08:00 AM
This must be stopped somewhere or he will destroy everything only to satisfy his ego.

How are you going to stop a lunatic who obviously has a lot of money, and apparently he doesn't do all this alone - so maybe we should ask ourselves who is actually behind him in a project called "How to privatize and centralize Bitcoin"?

Other than what we got as advice from @gmaxwell, I don't see how we little people can oppose what Faketoshi does - and we all know that he can't possibly be Satoshi even in some parallel universe. These days, some controversial people have ended their lives - maybe luck will smile on us and a black reaper will come for this idiot.

This is not a death threat or anything like that, for all those who support scammers, pedophiles, drug dealers and all other types of human scum.
7111  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: China's game plan on: June 30, 2021, 09:40:56 AM
What a crazy obsession with China we have here on the forum, and what nonsense I read especially in my local media that this is the end for Bitcoin - as if China is the only country in the world where Bitcoin can be mined. What the Chinese are doing is one of the best things that has happened to Bitcoin in the long run, better than anything that psychopath EM has ever done or will do.

The biggest problem for Bitcoin is not China, Musk or Trump - these are people who can't understand even the simplest math problem and invest in Bitcoin just to profit and all they care about is the price.

7113  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: ⚽UEFA EURO 2020 Discussion Thread | Current Phase: Finals in June 2021! on: June 29, 2021, 01:30:11 PM
Don't ask me anything, I'm still recovering from yesterday's shock  Cheesy
We had a huge chance but we lost due to the stupidity of some players and completely wrong tactics and preparation of the Croatian coach for this match.
It is ridiculous to see that the Spanish players scored two goals with a player more on the field because Croatian players drink water or change their shoes  Grin
It is also not clear why the coach insisted so much on Rebic and it was clear how much better Croatia played with Orsic, Pasalic and Brekalo.

Definitely the wrong tactic on the part of our coach who, for some reason unknown to us, persistently forces Rebic, who is one of the worst players in the team, which he proved again yesterday. Croatia scored two goals in the last 15 minutes precisely because key substitutions were made (Rebic out - Orsic and Pasalic in) and both completely turned the game around and scored goals. I won't even mention the amateurism of some players who go out in the middle of the game to change their shoes or drink water, they are ashamed for the rest of their lives.

Wrong tactics, incomprehensible behavior of some players and the lack of Perisic and Lovren are the reason why Spain won, but not as simple as they imagined.
7114  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Put this in your mind as you begin trading on: June 29, 2021, 01:05:01 PM
Successful trading with anything requires the trader to have the knowledge, experience and a high level of self-control. For me, these are the most important things - although there are certainly more that experienced traders can mention. Trading Bitcoin or cryptocurrencies in general is very risky, not only because of the market, which is really unpredictable - but also because of the security factor which means that a person knows the basics of what he is trading with.

Take the example of a person who has successfully bought a BTC on a crypto exchange, has mastered the basics of trading and makes some profit over a period of time. At one point, there is information that it is not wise to keep all the crypto online, and that person downloads some non-custodial crypto wallet and transfers part of their funds from the exchange to that wallet. Let's ask ourselves what can go wrong?

  • The person searches for a wallet using a search engine, clicks on the first link in the results and becomes a victim of a fake wallet.
  • The person avoids a fake wallet, successfully transfers their funds to that wallet - but on the first transaction discovers that something is wrong - a surprise, greetings from clipboard malware.
  • A person avoids the first two situations, but saves the backup using his e-mail or keeps it unprotected as a regular document on a PC or a piece of paper on the desktop - it's only a matter of time before the backup is compromised.

Trading is only part of something much more complex, but although some manage to profit in this way, it should be known that some research shows that only 5% of people manage to make a profit in the long run. The data may be discouraging, but that’s why we have a golden rule that we should never invest what we’re not willing to lose.
7115  Other / Meta / Re: A small proposal to support the forum team/community. on: June 29, 2021, 12:37:33 PM
I think that our discussion here brings us to a logical conclusion to create the donation fund for active community members, and not for the moderators. Any further thoughts on this?
That is weird as well.

Yes, I agree with your thinking about this idea as most older members will agree, but I can also accept that someone who is relatively new to the forum and doesn't understand how the forum works, have as you say weird ideas. What the OP does not know is that any good initiative can and will be abused, and we know what would happen if the forum started paying for every good reported post - some would turn it into a business and report everything that came to their eyes.

Some kind of reward for those who contribute to the forum in this way is certainly the reporter badge images, and I believe that would satisfy many, even more than if someone gave them a monetary reward.
7116  Economy / Economics / Re: Permanent residence in El Salvador for crypto entrepreneurs on: June 29, 2021, 10:49:23 AM
Apart from all this, the cost of living  is low, the climate is great and you can buy pretty much anything with money.

The cost of living is low compared to which country? Although no one from that country came forward to answer the question, that’s why we have the internet and search engines. I looked at a few sources and post some interesting information that obviously no one wants to read because it is much easier to write in general without referring to the facts.

El Salvador is not a cheap country when I compare it with some EU countries, and some things are even more expensive than here - I won't even mention the price of security at all, because it doesn't really have a price.
7117  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Mechanism for Retrieving lost BTC on: June 29, 2021, 10:38:09 AM
@Lucius
"How many posts have you seen of a novice showing up here and addressing someone as if talking to a bank clerk - "I lost my BTC, please sir give it back to me"
I have not seen. Maybe because everyone knows that in this system, your destiny is in your hands.

After 6 years on the forum, I saw a lot of confused users who literally came here and addressed the forum as someone responsible for their problems - because they no doubt identified Bitcoin with the bitcointalk forum as a place where they can seek some justice. You will find most such examples in Beginners & Help, Marketplace> Service Discussion> Web Wallets & Exchanges, but also in the Electrum board.
7118  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Mircea Popescu died leaving 1 Million BTC behind? on: June 29, 2021, 10:17:13 AM
dunno, it would help my credulity along a ways if he had died in a less corrupt part of the world.

I'm reading: "Man with 1,000's of BTC issued a death certificate in a corrupt country, had humongous ego + known history of high level trolling/manipulating"

Yes, this definitely leaves a suspicion similar to the case of Gerald Cotten who went to India and reportedly passed away, while also taking with him all the private keys of his crypto exchange. Of course, the situation is not nearly the same in the sense that Popescu is scamming someone (although there are various accusations against him), but money can buy everything, especially in countries where everyone is corrupt.

Information that can be found about him says that the man was a racist and sexist, and that his blog was even banned in India. When we draw the line below everything, he was definitely (or still is) a controversial person.

I think there is a very high chance for Croatia to be eliminate from this tournament today, the defense of Croatia are not very good as they have not managed to keep a clean sheet for many of their past games played. Spain totally demolished Slovakia in their last game and I think Spain will be able to beat Croatia without the need to go into extra time today.

Of course, for all those who think that the victory of Spain is not in question, let them bet with a high stakes - even the Spaniards themselves have already declared victory and consider Croatia just an ordinary dessert - we all know what happens when you underestimate your opponent for days.

7120  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Mircea Popescu died leaving 1 Million BTC behind? on: June 28, 2021, 12:45:01 PM
I don't think he had that amount, I don't think even 1/10 of that claim but at the same time why the hell must anyone owning larger amounts of bitcoins be the talk of the town and make the headlines of every news like rappers do when spending money around? Take a guess, how many people have heard of Bernard Arnault? Well, he is richer than Musk but I don't see him twittering all day long!

Maybe a month or so ago I read that he became the richest man in the world, and there was even a rumor that he had something to do with investing in cryptocurrencies - which he denied. Fortunately, not all rich people are eccentric psychopaths who play on social networks all day, and receive billions of incentives from the state, which they present as their business success.

If Popescu is really dead, he should be allowed to rest in peace - and if he had a certain amount of BTC and someone important in life, he must have made sure not to take his wealth to the grave. He obviously had a lot of fans who now want him not to be forgotten, but I personally don’t remember him in the context of this forum considering he hasn’t been active for the past 5 years.
