7121  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: how to embed youtube video in the thread and pic on: August 28, 2015, 07:28:10 AM
i just know about image
you click on the icon that it is below italic logo
["img"]["/img"]
something like this will apper (but without the " )
then add the link of the image between those tags
like this :
["img"]Link["/img"]
(but without the " )

It's kinda a mix of this.  What I have always done is take a pic of the youtube player and use above to allow clicking on the image.  It allows people to click on a static image that is of the youtube, and it goes the to actual one.

I don't think you can embed active youtube in the forum.  I would love to be wrong though if someone has a way.  For security a lot of things are not allowed to be embedded in forum.
7122  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: Need help setting up my first bitcoin rig. on: August 28, 2015, 07:20:20 AM
Now, I have everything prepared, and I get quite paranoid about how to set it up, so I came to this community for help.
I know this is how I start setting it up on the Raspberry Pi:

apt-get update
apt-get upgrade
apt-get install libusb-1.0-0-dev libusb-1.0-0 libcurl4-openssl-dev libncurses5-dev libudev-dev autoconf libtool
git clone https://github.com/ckolivas/cgminer ./autogen.sh
./configure --enable-bitfury
make && make install

But once that's all done how do I get my 10 yellow jacket USB miners working on the Raspberry pi? What will the command be to get all the miners to work at once?

Try a few at a time.  Chances of a powered hub being able to run 10 of them is very slim.   It's just a lot of power and most hubs dont have it.

Honestly you might look at ebaying them and getting some gekkoscience stick miners.   Just a lot more modern stick miner.

While we can hope for some negatives in the future, we should plan on increases for the rest of the year (IMHO).

We have some time I would really like to see it go down to around 3 I could settle for that.  I just really don't want 4-5 changes.

I'm especially afraid no big announcement and still a bump of around 4 right now.  Makes me wonder what's going on.
7124  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: BITMAIN launches 4th generation Bitcoin mining ASIC: BM1385 on: August 28, 2015, 07:13:34 AM
^^ you guys really think so? Even if they got 200-1000 sample chips, that would make 32.5 TH. So what? Antpool is still @70 PH/s. And afaik other big pools haven't increased their hashrate significantly (well maybe a few smaller ones did).

I wouldn't put aside the probability of Bitmain owning private mines. Keeping them off "the grid" is probably the best way to keep good control over Bitcoin from the miner side. Those mines would give them a lot of leeway on their actions.

That's not really how they roll. They likely manage a few farms for private clients (because why not, its cheaper) but they're reasonably transparent about their hashpower. They're also not interested in bullying the network, if the overwhelming majority [of the other power] is voting one way, they'll follow unless its suicide.

I don't know if I would say they are transparent at all.  They are pretty darn secretive on their mines.   I remember when they tried to sell one they said you could not even visit it even if you bought the whole thing.

So open and clear I don't think so.  Unless your talking about something like hashnest.  But the private farms are pretty secretive.

Hello,

my Antminer S5 run only with 800-900 GHs. The Mines shows no errors or non working ASIC Chips
What can i do?

Best Regards
Willi

What speeds do you get when you are not pointing it twords MRR as pool?  I have seen MRR slow down some before.

Worth trying another pool to see what happens.
7126  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: GekkoScience BM1384 Project Development Discussion on: August 28, 2015, 01:22:56 AM
I like the idea of being able to use a regular CPU cooler like the BitCrane boards.  This sounds cool.

I think it would take a change of chips to make a CPU cooler worth buying for it.   I do like the idea of them building boards though.

I would love to see a board.  It could be as simple (I say simple but I'm sure it's tons of hours) as the original asic miner blades.   I would love some GekkoScience blades.
7127  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Mining as sole source of income on: August 28, 2015, 01:03:11 AM
Cloud mining? Oh, I'm sorry. I thought you wanted to make some money.  Lips sealed

If you're going to invest 10k in a mining operation and you don't want to put some of that into equipment you really should think about spending your money better. You might be better off just buying 10k worth of bitcoins at today's low price ($228 each) and holding them for the future.

The problem is he want's a monthly income and he mentions "sole income".   Even if you spend 10k on coins or mining gear it would not work as sole income for most.

It is a investment and day's of 30 and 90 day ROI are over.   It is a way to make money yes that is true, but counting on it as a monthly income I don't think it's to that point.
7128  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [Hands On] Bitmain AntMiner S5+ - Notlist3d on: August 28, 2015, 12:59:30 AM
It appears someone who posted a while back user: Meat was passing out some links that were to fake bitmain site. - https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1157426.msg12228730#msg12228730  I don't know if he had one in here or not (hopefully not).

But if you did click on a link from him when he was a user I suggest changing bitmain password, or any other site if you use shared passwords (and don't do this).  Also turn on 2 factor on what ever sites you are able to.

I have 2FA and did change all my password but be careful.
Here is the ip of the person that try to connect to my account.

Looks like a moderator changed links from this account a while back.  Thanks for warnings.   Luckily I did not use his link.  I will post in my thread to make sure no one did in it.

But yes 2 factor is almost a must in these day's sadly.  It saves many of accounts.
7130  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Mining as sole source of income on: August 28, 2015, 12:26:01 AM
Why not CEX.io?

I plan to reinvest 50% of monthly income

I don't see how I could lose money when it's being mined 24/7>?

You need to read more about mining in general and cloud mining.  There are fees including electricity on reputable cloud hashing.

Difficulty and bitcoin price comes into play.  No form of mining is a for sure bet, yes you can lose good amount of money.   You could reinvest income and end up with bigger loss.

I love mining and am not against it I just highly suggest reading about difficulty and price, and ROI.  Most ROI were talking in the hundreds of day's not 30 day range.  And again not guaranteed.

I may buy the whole lot, I think my cooling system can handle another Th or two.

What zip code are you shipping from?

PM sent with zipcode.  Again I'm open for offers.   And not looking to make money off shipping.

You can pick which ever big shipping service you like best.   Only thing I will probley require is a tracking or at least delivery conformation.  I think it a cheap option and I think having tracking or at least delivery conformation works best for both parties.
7132  Economy / Computer hardware / Re: C1 - One working perfectly and one as parts - Possibly looking to sell on: August 28, 2015, 12:18:00 AM
what you want for the both of them?

I live in EU so most likely shipping will be more than the cost of the miners.
just want to know as I am upgrading my farm to be fully watercooled.

I'm open to offers.  I am shopping it around a few places right now.  I can say the upgrades such as nicer pumps and molex to fan adapters are both good upgrades (especially the pump it's night/day compared to original pumps).

7134  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Cloud Mining - Please help a newbie on: August 27, 2015, 11:54:17 PM
cloud mining is always scam! i am scammed by many cloud minings! stay away from cloud minings!

Care to share more?  What sites were you scammed by and how much did you lose?

You need to research all investments this includes cloud mining.  But there are a very few that are legit.  Sadly yes a vast majority are ponzi's.
very many examples of "cloud mining" which had a scam, for example just zenminer, hasprofit, and many more, and you still believe cloudmining it profitable?

I was asking him as it appeared he was spamming to get posts.  And I could be right as he did not come back and say where he lost.  He did it in many threads not just this with one liners.

Right now it's hard in mining to ROI and in cloud mining aswell.  I think it is possible but far from guaranteed.  There are only 2 sites I have trusted with a little (I prefer to have hardware so I don't cloud mine with much).   But yes overall most are scams sadly.

Do research and you will (most likely) find one or two that are real cloud mining operations.  But profitable no one can guarantee that.  If they do they are lying.
Where mining so both sites that you trust it, whether the site could prove evidence of mining? how do you assess that those sites can be believed?

Everyone should have their own metric.  Myself is follow the hardware.   Does an asic company vouch for them having X amount of hash, or are they a company who makes hardware and reputable?

So I used this on my two.  I will admit it is not perfect it would have allowed asicminer to get in but one false positive, is far better then the rate of scam to cloud sites.  So I think it is not perfect but much better then see if they pay out first people, as most ponzi's do pay out and give ROI to first people.

*Edit and I do not mean offense by this but read your signature and see where it say's "Professional Crypto and GHash Exchange".  If you honestly do not believe that you should remove signature.

You have not answered my question, which of the two cloud-mining sites that you trust, and I am just skeptical about cloud mining ROI because of its long time and prone to fraud.
and one more thing although I never tried cloud mining looks like I will not try it again, unless I can believe the site is 100%

I hesitate as I like others to make their own decisions.   I don't want my decisions on this to effect others.  I really want them to research it, I gave my metric.

You also passed over my point.  If you believe in no cloud mining site... why are you wearing a signature for a company that sells Ghash that is hosted somewhere (IE cloud mining)?   Are you saying you don't support Bit-X or believe in them? Your signature say's "Professional Crypto and GHash Exchange"
7135  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Mining as sole source of income on: August 27, 2015, 11:50:50 PM
I will be investing between $5000 - $10000..  At a website like CEX.io - no hardware, no electric costs.

Don't do CEX.io.   But honestly a 5-10k investment is not going to give you enough to live off of in the mining world.

There are no guarantees, you could lose money.  So keep that in mind.  But it would take a LOT more to be sole source of income.

I agree, there is not much to mess with in the configuration of an S5.

My miners are all on DHCP, running on a brand new Gigabit Broadband VPN Router with HP Procurve switches.  I recently upgraded my LAN in preparation for Comcast's new 2GB high speed internet service.  Yes, that's TWO GIGABIT INTERNET.  Its already out and I am just waiting for the installation that will bring fiber to my front door.

I know you guys are trying your best to help me (for which i am very grateful; THANK YOU AGAIN for your time), but I have already tested and re-tested all of the obvious failure points.  I have pinged, trace rt,  and looked up every DNS & IP address from here to china.

I have a BS in engineering and i have worked in IT for the past 25 years for a fortune 50 company.   Trust me when I say its not a power nor an internet issue.   Having said that, I must confess that I had an early 4th of july fireworks show in my bedroom awhile back when I connected the power to an S5 backwards. . . .   Embarrassed   That's the reason for one of the bad Beaglebones.

Are you using a comcast router all in one router?  Can you take a picture of your networking screen on miner?

^^ you guys really think so? Even if they got 200-1000 sample chips, that would make 32.5 TH. So what? Antpool is still @70 PH/s. And afaik other big pools haven't increased their hashrate significantly (well maybe a few smaller ones did).

I didn't say I thought they had a huge amount of hashrate with the new chips already.

If I were to make a guess, it would be that they got working sample chips, tested them, and then converted a massive amount of BTC for a huge order of BM1385 chips.  Hence why we saw an enormous rate drop around the time of the press release.  If that were the case, I would find it hard to believe that they could have miners shipping out prior to October.  They even could have generated a nice discount for themselves by shorting the market just prior to cashing out for the new chips.

Granted this is all just speculation from my imagination, but it appears to be the most reasonable scenario in my mind and makes much more sense than XT (which was DOA in my opinion) being the cause for the recent "flash crash."

I am kinda tired of XT to be honest.  I really wish I could know if those main people thought they were going to get adoption.  It seems like a way to get certain people in the news and make them seem important.

I believe in optional acceptance of size, not forced. But that is for another day I guess.  But as far as bitmain it is scary they have enough internal information that could easily be used in gaming the market.  They have got there through business moves.  But I'm not sure I want them at that position long term.

Very nice job!  I love seeing the development from miners for miners.

I wish you the best of luck with this if you decide to get some made.  Either way thanks for sharing.

cloud mining is always scam! i am scammed by many cloud minings! stay away from cloud minings!

Sadly, even now, if you want to easily, quickly buy some btc, you need to pay a lofty middleman fee

or spend time going through verification processes to minimize that.

If you're fine with that, there are many choices though

i.e. ATM, Localbitcoin

You only have to do the verification process once though for exchanges.  This is what makes them legal and not money launders.

So even though some hate verification it is really a needed thing.   And afterwards it really is nice to have a exchange and not LBC.

I would never, ever do a KYC verification or at least until I have other options. And even if these other options are to disappear, I would not do a KYC even then. This is completely against the Bitcoin basic principles and I just refuse to do it.

I would rather go to the currency exchange thread and buy the coins over there with the help of some reputable escrow.

I don't think it's against bitcoins cores.  If we want to operate in certain places it means things like KYC is a fact of life.   Just part of operating in today's world.

Yes there will always be options for those who do not want to do it.  For me I don't have any reason to hide what I do with BTC so KYC is not a big deal for me.  Others take that privacy and I understand why.  It's a personal choice.

Having a nice exchange hooked up to a checking account and being able to get for a decent is not something I will ever give up.  And for me KYC for better or worse is needed for this.

Look, you do have your opinion and I appreciate it. Everybody can do as they wish. KYC in my opinion was put in place by the governments only to hinder Bitcoin adoption. I mean look at this thread and the troubles that OP has to do his KYC and acquire his first bitcoins.

KYC that governments do will not do a damn thing against the money laundering. People with bad intentions will find ways to do what they want and they will bypass the KYC. It will not prevent the bad guys, it will only slowdown the good guys.

Again, I am not trying to offensive towards you, you have a right on your opinion.

And no offense to you but you seem uninformed. KYC was in effect before bitcoin was a thing.... a good amount before in US if I am thinking right.

So right there that kills your opinion it was to kill bitcoin.  It is to track money and investments.   Governments will ALWAYS want to know this for taxes in most cases.  And yes in some cases tracking cash if being used for something illegal.

So I can see why you don't like KYC but it is not a bill that was aimed to kill BTC.
I didn't say that the KYC was passed just because of Bitcoin, but that it was applied to Bitcoin and that it hinders it's adoption. There is no arguing there in my opinion.

Is KYC here to protect the customers or the other side, I don't even want to start about that especially when we are talking about the US, a country where the most important are the interests of the wealthy, gray elite.

You said "KYC in my opinion was put in place by the governments only to hinder Bitcoin adoption"  KYC was in place first... that makes this statement untrue, I don't see how you can back this statement.  And your judgement on US as a whole is just that a judgement not fact.

I will leave it at that as I don't enjoy forum battles.  As honestly no one wins and it's a waste of time.  But I think your first quote shows it was wrong with KYC being there first.  And I don't mean offense to you honestly.  I just wish you had facts not rash judgements.

Again I'm leaving it here I do not wish for a forum battle.  Not enough time in the day, good day to you sir.
