7141  Economy / Collectibles / Re: How do you redeem the bitcoin from a casacius coin? on: November 08, 2021, 11:59:49 PM
At this point no one should ever peel a Casacius ever again. Sell funded

The value of Casascius Coins has gotten to the point where I wouldn't even want to carry them out of a bank.  I've been wanting to sell a 0.5 Casascius coin for a while now but it feels crazy to even have that amount in your possession on a physical coin.  So crazy when you think that the original ones were given away by the thousands.  I wonder how many of those bad boys are buried under some dirt at various festival locations around the country...  Back to your comment, HOW would you sell a funded Casascius coin?

As for the thread topic, Electrum.  Free, fast, and simple.
7142  Economy / Speculation / Re: New All Time High Baby! - $66,974.77 on: November 08, 2021, 11:30:07 PM
Bump
We have another ATH right now: $67,731.19 according to CMC
Dunno for how long it will stand this time, go go $70k next step Grin

It looks like the high might currently be from KrakenUS at $67,777.70. I expect this will likely be a moving target for a little while now that we are into price discovery territory. Most people seem to think we could get up into the $80Ks  before we see the next large correction. I’m starting to wish I had a Bitcoin ticker for moments like this.

If Coinmarketcap.com is the benchmark though, it looks like the ATH is $67,673.74 according to their site: https://coinmarketcap.com/currencies/bitcoin/

I'm happy to use that as a consensus unless there's a more standard way.

Looks like the Lakers are already exploring changes on their team after the slow start...  Rumors for the day have it looking as if they are on the hunt for a new head coach.  However, the fanbase on social media is being pretty loud that they don't think the head coach is the problem.  Lakers fans are starting to make a case that Russell Westbrook should be traded in order to fix the problems on the team.  Russell's contract likely keeps that from being a possibility, and the Lakers first approach Dame to see if he'd join the team, so unless Dame has had a change of heart and the Blazers are looking to bite the bullet to help him get where he wants to be, I think we'll be seeing Russell in a Lakers uniform possibly next year as well...  Personally, I think they'll get it figured out.  Carmelo is playing better than expected and Nunn hasn't even played yet while LeBron and AD have both been having the usual injury issues...
7144  Economy / Services / Re: I'm Back, Mt.Gox Just Returned 22 BTC of Mine on: November 08, 2021, 09:38:31 PM
You wouldn't be here if you had 22 BTC.  Cheesy

You'd be off buying Yachts and Mansions and Bugatis etc.

 Cheesy

Imagine thinking that someone would have over a million dollars invested in an asset and then not follow it's development.

It's always really weird to me when people think that if someone has some money then they must be out spending it.  That's just not how being rich works...

I was once given great advice about people.  Here it is...

If you need money, don't ask a rich man.  He didn't get rich giving away money.  Ask a poor man.  He will give you the shirt off his back.
If you need help, don't ask someone with nothing to do.  They do nothing.  Ask a busy person.  They will always find time to do a job.

I repeat this advice only to say that if someone has 22 BTC today, they have no desire to spend it on yachts.  It is clear their motivation was never about the money in the first place or they would have cashed out long ago.  You have to have a passion for Bitcoin and a desire to help change the world for the better to be holding at this point.  Otherwise you probably spent all your Bitcoin and are mad at whoever accepted it as payment to deflect from your own personal responsibility.

As for mtgox...  No, obviously nobody has gotten their money back yet.  Although it does look like Q2 of next year is a possibility.
7145  Economy / Speculation / Re: New All Time High Baby! - $66,974.77 on: November 08, 2021, 09:00:02 PM
We got within $500 of the all time high. Pretty exciting. I suspect we’ll see new all time highs and a break into price discovery in the early morning hours of tomorrow. Then it will likely be back to the races. Miners have been holding for months now in preparation. The stage is set and the actors have taken their places. Now we watch, enjoy, and wait for the standing ovation (to run out the exit door while everyone else is clapping).
7146  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2022 NBA Season on: November 08, 2021, 05:27:46 AM
That Clippers game was something else. They finished on a 27-4 run to comeback and beat the Charlotte Hornets. After the game the coach for the Hornets said they were just missing shots at the end of the game and there was no other explanation for the breakdown… Paul George had another great night, barely missing a triple double with 20-9-8 as his final stat line.
7147  Economy / Speculation / Re: New All Time High Baby! - $66,974.77 on: November 08, 2021, 02:21:02 AM
Bitcoin back in striking distance of the all time high and moving up quickly. I’m showing its up 5.5% in the last 24 hours and within 2.5% of the all time high. I think it’s extremely likely we’ll see a new all time high in the next 48 hours as we venture back into price discovery territory. As an investor, there are few words that excite me more than ‘price discovery’ and I’m looking forward to it.

The Nets getting clobbered by the Raptors right now. James Harden is once again looking terrible. Between the Nets and the Lakers losing games, and LeBron James sitting around tweeting about football instead of his team’s struggles is definitely not where I saw this season going. I can only hope we see a good matchup in the Finals and that these struggles for both teams are temporary.
7149  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2022 NBA Season on: November 06, 2021, 08:47:26 PM
In spite of having a better record, the Lakers are 5.5 point underdogs today vs the Portland Trailblazers. This seems like it could be a turning point for them. If they win, they’ll show they can beat decent teams and improve their record to 6-4. If they lose, it’s back to a .500 team working through growing pains. It’s still early in the season, but I’d like to see them win tonight, even if they are short handed.
7150  Economy / Speculation / [Poll] If this happens, is it time to sell your Bitcoin? on: November 06, 2021, 10:21:11 AM
With some people starting to talk about double tops and calling Bitcoin’s ATH in the rear view, do you think it’s time to sell if we don’t see the stock to flow $100K target hit in December?

With other bubbles in 2013 & 2017 being in December, do you sell next month no matter what happens?

Is it different this time? Will there be no bear market?
7151  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2022 NBA Season on: November 06, 2021, 03:42:36 AM
The Clippers have been quietly riding Paul George to some victories lately. I was ready to count them out this year with Kawhi being injured but he’s playing the best he has in years. He got 21-11-6 on 4-20 shooting tonight and managed to help secure a 20 point win even while shooting 20% from the field. I honestly think the Clippers look like the best team in Los Angeles at the moment (I’m sure that will change).

7153  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [BOXING] Logan Paul vs Mike Tyson on: November 05, 2021, 10:27:14 PM
I agree that this is a staged fight and the result will not be determined in the ring, but rather will be written by producers outside of it. But I would be interested to know at what age Tyson his chances would be obviously lower than Paul? 60 years? 65? With the condition that Paul is at the present age and does not age.
Tyson has not fought Paul yet, it's hard to just guess because Logan Paul is also well conditioned although he has not won a fight yet. We should not be too hype with the popularity of Tyson, remember, he is not young anymore and his power in boxing is probably gone.

Yes, if we talk about professional boxing, then the power is really gone, but to knock Paul out you don't need a monstrous blow (as is the case with any ordinary person) you only need technique and the right place to apply force. The only question is whether Mike will be quick enough to do it, and Paul is not careful enough to miss such a trick. If we take purely physical capabilities, then I would consider Paul to be the favorite. The problem is that after a couple of missed hits, physical capabilities become significantly weaker  Cheesy

I'm not sure I'd say the power is gone.  I wouldn't line up to take a punch from Mike Tyson.  Have you seen his recent workout videos?  I am 100% certain Tyson hits harder now than I have ever been able to in my entire life and I've put some people on the mat in my time...  It won't take much for Tyson to knock him out in my opinion.  The question is if he'll be able to do it before he gets fatigued, and if the rules even allow for him to deliver a knockout blow.  It's quite possible he won't be allowed to punch with all his strength.  That being said, would you trust Mike Tyson and step in the ring with him because he says he won't knock you out?  I sure as hell wouldn't.  As soon as Logan lands a nice shot Tyson will be seeing red.  I think this will likely be the last fight of Logan's career.

So what do you think guys, do these odds would attract bettors?
It is not a surprise that Mike Tyson is a heavy favorite and there is no point in betting for the favorite but i would like to see any bookies giving a draw line and what would be the odds for that. I might place a bet on a draw for fun as most of the exhibition fights ends up in a draw. You never know what would happen, logically Mike Tyson should smoke Logan Paul but Tyson is 55 years and what happens if he pulls a muscle during the bout looking for the knockout  Cheesy.

I don’t even know what gambling on this fight would look like. Are they going to allow knockouts even? Will a winner be announced if there is a knockout? Will a winner even be announced under any circumstance? I’m not sure if they even have the rules straight yet, but if there are stipulations to the fight, I can only assume that they’ll all be there to hurt Tyson’s chances.
7155  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2022 NBA Season on: November 05, 2021, 09:02:10 PM
Tonight it looks like we’ve got a doubleheader on ESPN. Bucks and the Knicks in the first game and then the Warriors and the Pelicans. Without Zion I don’t think the Pelicans have much of a shot, nor is that game one is want to watch. Similarly, the Bucks and Knicks aren’t 2 teams I get excited to watch. Curry has been on his game though, so maybe he’ll provide some entertainment.
7156  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2022 NBA Season on: November 05, 2021, 05:40:53 AM
The Lakers with another embarrassing loss tonight. OKC is tanking and they managed to beat them… Seeing the Lakers struggle against the worst teams in the league like this is a pretty bad sign. I’m not seeing any real improvement. I don’t understand why Dwight Howard is only getting a couple minutes a game either. It seems like they aren’t very concerned with winning at the moment.
7157  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: JP Morgan believes Bitcoin is Overpriced on: November 04, 2021, 10:28:32 PM
That report is embarrassing.  It's behind a paywall and your numbers aren't really correct compared to what was stated in the report, so it's a bit misleading.  From seeing the report, it was blatantly obvious they were just throwing out numbers.  They 'basically' said Bitcoin is going to be somewhere between $30K and $200K so it might be a good time to buy or sell.  I honestly couldn't think of a more useless conclusion and the fact that they felt the need to send this to clients right now is a bit telling.  They aren't totally wrong though if you consider that they're more-less saying we're headed for a bubble, so keep in mind that Bitcoin is only worth $30K when it hits $200K and don't be a buyer.  I think you'd have to have enough knowledge about what's to come in order to understand their speech though.
7158  Economy / Collectibles / Re: How much is this coin worth? on: November 04, 2021, 10:20:13 PM
Thanks for the info. Only 8 sales means the coin is pretty rare.

I don't know if I'd say that if the listing price is in the thousands of dollars.  More likely this product is being targeted at sleep deprived crypto users with too much BTC who mistake the 1.0 description as it being loaded with an actual Bitcoin.  They probably think they're getting too good of a deal to pass up or maybe English isn't their first language and they snatch it immediately after the misunderstanding.  The seller probably discovered he can make way more money posing this as an actual crypto coin and tricking people than selling them for $20 a piece, so that's the route he's gone.  Just my guess, but probably not too far off.
7159  Economy / Collectibles / Re: To Escrow or Not to Escrow? on: November 04, 2021, 10:11:22 PM
Without seeing the names it's difficult to tell if this is a man-in-the-middle scam attempt, or if you're really dealing with a questionable seller.  Either way, escrow is advised, especially if it is a $5,000 purchase (for smaller purchases it makes more sense to deal direct).  I've saved countless members here from losing funds with my escrow service, and they've all been quite thankful to lose only their escrow gift in the process (although the scammers aren't as happy to lose out and spend their lives trying to punish me through their real accounts).

So at first glance I'd say it sounds like someone is trying to pull a MITM scam on you, and you should verify that the account you're receiving PMs from is the account that was offering the sale and not a look-alike.  The change of address is a pretty good sign that it isn't the same user.  Either way, don't send a stranger thousands of dollars in non-reversible currency, especially if their reputation isn't worth that much.
7160  Economy / Speculation / Re: New All Time High Baby! - $66,974.77 on: November 04, 2021, 09:49:58 AM
have we all thought when everyone reads news everywhere about $100k, people will be careful when they touch it where they will go get profit before $100k, I think that is our main goal but people will be careful to take a step away before $100k, this news and analysis is already all over the place so I'm still wary about that anytime bitcoin is going down and the cautious people are going to walk away making a profit, but congrats on the new ATH
We are all just speculating here so it's not bad to take your profit if you have the chance. At least you earned if ever Bitcoin goes pump or dump either way you still have your profit and that's enough whether you hodl the rest for too long it's fine. It's not bad to be cautious since the market is volatile so we can't expect what people are speculating will happen, always reconsider the possibility that it might dump before attaining a $100k.

Actually this is ideal thing to do and never think about waste profit if the market still pumping since we need to think profit is profit since if we think more than that for sure we will end up become greedy and next to that will be bagholding or getting panic for certain correction will happen. Also after we get our capital back then we can decide to roll our profit or hold the amount we get then see if we will be lucky if bitcoin reach at $100k.
I think the fundamental thing that's affects the price of the market in the aspect of volatility is the market is a subject of speculation and manipulation. Moreso, the best thing to do this time is to take out the capital and some profit because I hear the end of the year is always bloody.

From my personal point of view, you are almost better off waiting too long than not long enough to sell.  When the bubble happens, you want to be riding that wave upward with everyone else.  The gains look great now, but if BTC shoots up to $450K you'll feel like a fool for selling and cashing in the gains.  The opposite could also happen and BTC could fall to $2K and you'd wish you had cashed it out, but I think the danger currently is missing out to the upside.  If people are unsure what to do, the right move when it comes to investing is almost always do nothing.  If doing nothing isn't your style, slowly cashing out on a schedule instead of all at once is not a bad option.
