Friend of mine isn't interested in MM and placed the bet for me. So far so good, zero correct ones Cheesy Had Nantes win and was happy with the early red card for Bordeaux, but this was just an utterly pathetic game. They could play until now and score would still be 0-0 Tongue

But looking through the picks posted here, you guys are not doing that much better as it seems and the leaderboard shows already three correct picks for the leaders.

Tianjin Teda - Qingdao / Qingdao -0.25 @ 1.93 5/10

Didn't watch that one, but looks like a comfortable win more or less, +4,65 here.

Shijazhuang - Beijing / Beijing ML @1.60 6/10

Beijing lost the big game against SIPG today, but they are still top team in CSL all things considered. Shijazhuang is doing pretty good after promoting. They have good foreign players and are pretty in sync all in all - their chinese players are weak though. Beijing is the way better team and 1.60 is just too much, when they lost today and want to go back to winning asap (they drew the game before as well). Shijazhuang seems a good opponent to get a win again after two unsuccessful tries Smiley

Every player who joined at least 5 of the 8 qualifying tournaments, will be eligible to play in the Small Final, no matter how many points they accumulated.

I remember this triggered a little dicussion, if we shouldn't just let everyone play the small final no matter the # of participations. Looking at the sheet it looks like all more or less regular and interested-in-this-series players are covered (apart from maybe 1r0n1c). But since our host is not qualified by the rules, I am requesting an exception rule for efialtis to play the small final with only 4/8 participations. Only if you want and have time though Wink

Tianjin Teda - Qingdao / Qingdao -0.25 @ 1.93 5/10

Tianjin has sacked their coach Uli Stielike, which is something I don't like for this bet Tongue I rarely bet against teams that just sacked their coach or have a new coach, because from my experience these teams do very well in the next games. Everything basically starts at zero, bench players see a new opportunity to get into the team under the new coach and the players from starting XI have to fight to stay in there. So you always have a very motivated side, which most likely wasn't the case before (lots of teams want to get rid of their coaches at some point).

For this thread I will leave the bet as it is, but maybe you want to hedge this bet, if you already placed it. Fortunately the odds have moved in our favour, so you won't lose anything with hedging now  - +0.25 Tianjin @2.10 - and even make a tiny profit. Up to you what you do, I just wanted to share this new development Smiley
725  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: SPORTS BET IO HAVE STOLEN MY $18,000 usd AND ARE SIMPLY IGNORING MY MESSAGES! on: August 20, 2020, 01:12:58 PM
I agree that they should be more responsive. I have probably seen too much already to be surprised by this behaviour, though I understand you being annoyed. As a punter looking to get things solved - which includes a payment from a bookmaker - you are always the idiot Wink By going public with this incident, you are on the right track already and I hope you get your deposit back, which is a fair compromise then imo.

What amazes me though: You deposit 1.1 BTC into a bookmaker and are/were not aware of this multi-accounting rule. There are not a lot of people depositing such big amounts and these people are no noobs in this business normally and know the "industry standards".
With your posts and the obliviousness about that rule, you seem to be a newbie (which is not bad, no offence). But then again you made profits with three different accounts, which is rather unusual for newbies - they normally lose a lot in the beginnning, but there are some naturally gifted people also Wink

If you want to share: Which sports did you bet on ? Sportsbet had some "problems" recently with russian accounts and bets on table tennis from those accounts. Maybe thats the reason for the silence or the investigation taking so long.
726  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: UEFA Champions League Discussion Thread on: August 20, 2020, 10:32:14 AM
I'm sure PSG thinking hard about what tactics they should use to face Bayern in the final.

Bayern wasn't very convincing defensively yesterday I think and Di Maria/Mbappé/Neymar are different animals than everything Lyon has to offer. Bayern will maybe take a slightly more defensive approach, to not give PSG too much space. PSG otoh should look to keep the ball as far away as possible from their own box, since the germans seem unstoppable offensively at the moment - you can't prevent them from scoring for 90 minutes, although PSG has a good defense. But whatever tactics both teams use, Bayern will lift the trophy imo.

I think we could see quite some goals, but this the final of the biggest football club competition in the world and for sure both teams will be nervous and cautious, so better to wait for higher odds inplay. 1.40 for over 2.5 is nothing I would want to play pre-match in this game.
727  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: SPORTS BET IO HAVE STOLEN MY $18,000 usd AND ARE SIMPLY IGNORING MY MESSAGES! on: August 20, 2020, 10:19:39 AM
But even so that does not give them a right to not reply to any of my messages and steal such a large amount of funds

Hmm, I am not siding with bookmakers in general, but I don't think you are right here. These anti-multi-accounting rules are for bonus abuse, promotion abuse etc, but also to get rid of unprofitable customers. So in your case, Sportsbet made clear, that you can still bet there, but with lowered betting limits. You bypassed this restriction with opening two new accounts, so technically I don't see nothing wrong with them not paying you. Nobody reads the T&C, but you should at least know, what normally is stated there and you will find multi accounting being forbidden in nearly every bookmaker. So if you violate these T&C, you can't say they scammed you, since you accepted the T&C by registering.

If this all makes sense and is fair, is another story then.......
728  Economy / Gambling / Re: Exbet | The Bitcoin Betting Exchange [exbet.io] on: August 20, 2020, 09:37:17 AM
Is being licensed and requiring KYC considered a good thing in the blockchain space?

I think you should let every individual decide that for themselves, there is always a trade-off with everything. You came here a few times trying to discredit Exbet and/or shilling your exchange, which is a bit meh as well. Just let Exbet do their thing and you do your thing - and then the bettors can decide which site they like better. Nobody is forced to play at certain places.

I am not a big fan of doing KYC in crypto-related things, but if Exbet offers a Betfair-like experience (volume, trading software, inplay), then I am willing to do it.

@exbet will there be something similar to fairbot, geekstoy which has betfair?

At least there is the possibility for it as confirmed here:

Exactly, the Exbet API will allow integration with off-the-shelf trading tools like Geeks Toy or Bet Angel, or with bespoke private trading tools.
729  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: UEFA Champions League Discussion Thread on: August 19, 2020, 07:47:16 PM
As expected this will be an easy game for Bayern, already winning.

Well, Lyon had their chances in the early stages, but if you don't score on good opportunities against Bayern, they will punish you sooner or later for it. Would have been interesting to see what would have happened if Lyon actually scored the 1-0 Wink

Now this will indeed most likely be a walk in the park for them with the quality they have upfront. Just a matter of time until they will score again on some counter attack.
730  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: US Presidential Election 2020 on: August 19, 2020, 08:59:15 AM
Kamala Harris odds is on 47.90 on Cloudbet.

I give you 80 for her, if you want Grin

Just saw a poll in TV: "Does Joe Biden have a chance against Trump ?" Yes 85% - No 15%. This should be 100% for yes, because of course he has a chance, the question is only how big it is. The odds only know one direction at the moment; it's slow but steady, down to 2.42 at Betfair, bye bye 3.0+.

Biden has played a lot of his cards already what it feels like, while Trump is just starting. The niece of him was in TV here yesterday (via Skype) and as expected was telling what a loser Trump actually is and that he would be nothing without his father and just lost money with everything he touched. She wasn't very objective, but anyway.

The next weeks will be Donnie-time imo and I expect him to even be favourite in the betting markets again then. It's a bit annoying to have missed out on the higher odds, but 2.4+ looks good as well at this point. I am somehow rooting for a narrow Biden win just for the drama it would create, since Trump wouldn't accept the outcome of course. 2016 was already fun to follow but this election should top everything - I don't even need to bet on it, to already get excited. Popcorn ready.

(...) the website was telling me my betting was restricted for some reason so I decided to make a new account.

(...) it would not let me place further bets so a few days later I just made another account.

What message was displayed when you couldn't place bets no more ? Because if it was a personal betting limit and you bypassed it by just opening new accounts, then this is not what you should have done Wink
732  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Football in China - The Chinese Super League on: August 17, 2020, 02:17:59 PM
Tianjin Teda - Qingdao / Qingdao -0.25 @ 1.93 5/10

Qingdao are doing ok-ish until now; they still didn't record a single win this season, but only lost once as well (0-4-1). They already played SIPG and Beijing and were able to get a draw out of those games each - in the Beijing game they were already down 0-3 Shocked They look very motivated and have a good morale. Tianjin is just a mess right now; they are 0-1-4 with 4-13 goals scored. They had troubles with their import players since the start of the season and today their striker Acheampong got injured again, so they will most likely only play with some german scrub in addition to their chinese players. Not a lot of hope for them right now and a good opportunity for Qingdao to get their first win of the season. A draw would still be only 50% loss with this asian handicap.

Did some more (useless) stats. Not as good with visualizing them as some other folks, so please bear with me.

Average Entries

Number of players has gone down again, but looks like we are nearing the bottom Wink

Most Points All-Time

Point Finishes Ratio

(active players in blue, not mentioned players have 0%)

Money Finishes Ratio

(the second column in the table should say ITM and not ITP, my bad)

bitmutinys & SyGamblers stats are really impressive.

Average Points when finishing in the Points

(only active players)

This is a very telling stat Wink Globb0/Hhampuz/SteamTyme don't finish in the points that often, but when they do, they get big points and some money. Figment/Betwrong/me finish in the points quite often, but don't get a lot of points on average and rarely any money. I like the first way better, but what can you do unless you change your style, which is not easy Grin

Regarding the final, I am fine with any day.
734  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [AMA] The Life of a Professional Gambler on: August 17, 2020, 12:07:33 AM
I was really struggling to answer these questions, since every sport/league is so unique with their very own dynamics etc. but tried my best Smiley

On paper I expect that most matches would have similar odds to what it would have been pre-pandemic, but I got to thinking about just how different games look. Not to mention the behind the scenes of practicing and out of game lifestyle for players.

Yes, the odds didn't change that much. The european football leagues still had home advantage priced in, but not as much as with spectators of course. Then you have leagues like MLS or Chinese Super League, which are played in neutral locations in a bubble and bookies just remove any home advantage and go on from there.

The games itself are rather boring to watch and even the players look kind of bored at times. This non-atmosphere often gives you the impression of players not trying 100%; there seems to be no urgency, even if down 0-1 in the latter stages of a game. It's missing the (home) crowd to push the teams. In general I would say that these kind of artificial circumstances favour the more skilled teams.

It's not easy for the players on a mental level since they only commute between hotel/practice facility/stadium and don't get to see their families for weeks/months or can just chill a bit at home.

Have you noticed or did you notice that there has been a major difference in teams and their performances, and/or that the odds on matches are a little skewed now or early on after the return. Any sports that were affected more so than others that you generally bet on?

No, not really. Once a sport/league resumes it's like in the beginning of a normal season, so not really Corona-related if there are some surprise results and upsets. After some weeks there are no secrets anymore, the odds get adjusted and it's as hard as ever before to find valuable spots.

I do think that Football (Soccer) and Basketball are more affected than Formula 1 or Cycling for example. In Football/Basketball there is a huge difference, if you play in a packed stadium/arena or in an empty place, where you hear every peep. The fans are more part of the game there and can even influence things a bit. A Formula 1 driver doesn't basically notice any fans/atmosphere during the race.

While Football/Basketball/F1 are on some regular schedule/rhythm, Cycling has a brutal schedule this year. They are doing inside 3 months, what they would normally do in 6+ months. Cycling is the hardest and most challenging sport imo and this super tight racing calendar will make for some super crazy results and good betting opportunities (hopefully).
735  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Sportsbet.io Betting discussion thread rev on: August 16, 2020, 10:27:25 PM
i'll probably won't win but (...)

If you do, you will have to share the prize money with 4 of us Cheesy

I think the leaderboard is only updated until the Beijing game and there are already users with 7 at that point, so no chance we will win anything imo. Guess the winner will have 9 this weekend.

Good luck for future MM's then for those who are still able to participate - make us proud Cool

There are 4 prizes á 7,700 chips to be won, 1,810 tickets were given out in total. I allocated them according to the rankings. Each player can only win once. Ticket numbers are drawn with a random number generator by @Hhampuz and will get posted here in this thread (but I don't know when^^)

Example: First number generated is the 77, bitmutiny has won a prize. The rest of his tickets are voided. If the random number generator spits out one of his ticket numbers again, a new number will get generated, until a non-void number shows up.

@efialtis If @BitcoinGirlClub wins a prize, I would wait with sending it to his account, until he confirms, he has control over it again. Since he does owe @figmentofmyass 2,000 chips, we could also think about repaying his debt this way.

I will have an early exit since I'll have to take big chances on bad cards (...)

If it helps, your chances of qualifying are next to zero, because of your bad average. By winning todays tournament, you can bring it down to 10.63 and would have the same amount of points as Improved/Steam then, if they fail to get any points today. Improved can only have worse average than you, if at least 22 players join today (unlikely) and he is the first to exit. SteamTyme would have to finish 17+ (I doubt we will have even 17 players today) to have worse average than you. And then you would still have to hope for the 4 guys in front of you to not get a lot of points, so all in all you qualifying would be a miracle Grin Sorry, if this destroys some of your hopes^^ Just play freely, go after all the super tight players and look to finish itm.

739  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [Betting & Discussion] Chinese Basketball Association - Rest of 2019/2020 Season on: August 16, 2020, 09:21:04 AM
I thought that there is no more playing around for the Southern Tigers and enforce their full strength in this last game but it was scary in the first half.

I expected this to be a more easy win as well. They are so dominant and can basically decide on their own how a game finishes; if they want, they can win every game with 40+. Maybe they were a bit nervous yesterday and also a bit tired from the last weeks. And the Yi injury played into this too in the end - with him available in the last minutes, they probably would have beaten the -9.5.

In general I don't like to play HC's somehow, because it's not what teams are playing for. They want to win the game and don't care that much, if it's with +1 or +50.

Just so people get an idea, how good Guangdong is: They only played with one import player all the time, although they are allowed to use two. They flew in their second import player MarShon Brooks some weeks ago and have him sitting in a hotel room as a backup since then Cheesy

20 users have six correct picks after the RUS matches. Only few - if any - will have picked Lyon win, so at least ralle14 seems to be still in contention:

Even if we mixed all our selections and were allowed to always take the best/correct one, we wouldn't do any better than the leaders Tongue

Now waiting for morvillz7z to surprise us with his picks and 8/8 so far Cool
