I have not seen any other trading sites to add vTorrent, hoping it will be added soon on other trading sites

Other exchanges will come running once they see the regular volume ticking up and the marketcap doing a full mooooon dance  Grin

Let's try to make the VTR Riot chat the place where anyone can securely and privately discuss anything for any project, all encrypted.

Monero thread? Done.
SDC thread? Go join it.
Wikileaks discussion? Make that channel
Tor help thread? Yep, onion yourself right in there
Living in a dictatorship? Open up VTR for freeeeeedom of speech and maybe do some private commerce.

Hadn't really considered how much extended use the Riot chat would potentially generate. All those extra vTorrent users helping to secure the VTR network.

Tl;Dr

The devs are in the process of integrating Riot Chat (slimmed down decentralised version of Slack) in to the vTorrent client.

Anyone can use vTorrent to create decentralised discussion channels just like they would use slack.

Nice new addition to the project which came out of nowhere.

An anon social network being created within the vtr client? Wow.

Can the Dev explain what the next hard fork is about, what we should expect and what we should do?

if 0.7.x clients have been kicked off the network, whose next?

Question for the dev:  Will there by an actual client side wallet where we control the private keys?  You mentioned paper wallets but I find that impractical, are there plans for a windows/linux/mac wallet application?

Also have you talked to exchanges such as bittrex about getting approved on their exchanges?

Exchanges?

Are you serious?

You'll be getting money from an illegal website (you know proceeds of crime) and you think (A) an exchange will list this project and (B) if they do list, they won't give your details over if ordered to do so by a court order?

go fuck yourself.

Some advice - don't pick up the soap.

Genuinely interested to know:

Governments around the world are seriously targeting websites like PureVidz.

But, let's say it manages to avoid take downs for a year or two. Fuck it, lets say it sticks around for 5 years.

If I invest in PureVidz, there is always the risk that the web site will be taken down and the market cap would obviously go to zero.

So where is the long-term investment opportunity? Seems like the risk is mostly in the hands of investors. With a 20% premine, the devs would obviously want to cash out ASAP.

Perhaps I missed something.

How is this community proposing to deal with this issue and is the devs solution plausible to everyone?

stick to your Vtorrent project.

Don't worry about this one.

Seems you have your hands full already with your train wreck of a project.

 Wink

As someone else once said:

i never seen so many haters in one thread. you guys need to learn from other communities that r more welcoming to others with different views.
peace out.

wondering how the vTorrent works with bittorrent? sounds like an interesting idea, but anything concrete working?

Nothing yet. Waiting for the upcoming forks which may or may not have working bittorrent integration.

Nothing yet? so everything is just speculations and hope? Do devs have some concrete plan to make it happen? do they know exactly how this will work? I hope it is not a high level dream only...

Unless block 1200000 has a fixed fork in the current client, they can announce anytime they are ready. Could be tomorrow, could be next week. I wouldn't lose any sleep over it.

Dear all,

As of now, only vTorrent Core is open sourced, and the reason we need to keep our full client (2FA included) closed source is to prevent other dev to clone our work and claim it as their own (or falsely claim as their project being one of the first to implement those features).

When Bittorrent part of vTorrent is reveal in a few release from now, hopefully our project will then be wildly known in crypto-currency space and the decision to open sourced other part of our project will then be considered again.

Regards,

vTorrent

Bump

BitTorrent to be revealed in a few releases. Whatever that means.

That does sound like torrents are coming soon.

Dump this shit!  Grin

Took a day or so to catch up with the chain, but eventually got to play with the client including the 2FA, all of which were great.

When will the torrent features drop?

The chat and option for group chat is a massive opportunity for private trackers, alongside the various encryption tools. Well done devs!

This thread keeps getting bumped on the main board, so I took a look.

What a great concept. I will be testing out the wallet this weekend.

Are there any other similar projects around on Bitcointalk?
736  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] SpreadCoin | Decentralize Everything (decentralized blockexplorer coming) on: October 06, 2016, 03:28:56 PM
Moreover, your tired adage regarding how you were correct about DASH is completely useless in the current situation.  There is no way to know if the future will be similar or different from the past.  You correctly invested in DASH... good for you, but that does not give you carte blanche to dismiss actual concerns.

I dip in and out over long periods of time. Crypto has been good to me and spreadcoin has been a good investment. I usually stalk Coins101 and what he does is deep dive into the details of a problem and comes up with some interesting ideas and solutions. From what I can remember some of those ideas have shaped DASH such as getting rid of the darkcoin name. There was also a proposal somewhere on the old spreadcoin thread I think to make service nodes run Coinbase like accounts which is basically Evolution that DASH is planning only it was proposed here like 6 months before Evan presented any plans for Evolution. Then there is the whitepaper for proof of node. Now a separate Blockchain Broadband network. You make it sound like everything rests with one person when there are many people that contribute and over the thread I can see how things are evolving. DASH was a one man show and still mostly. Things seem to be progressing nicely with spreacoin if you ask me and I can see similar price progress to DASH just needs more time to let things unfold because Evan worked on darkcoin full time for two years. no concerns here.

Bittrex has SDC disabled.

What's the issue, not that I'm that concerned?

Got some Spreadcoins now  Cool

When does master node testing start?
739  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: Vertcoin - 1 | ASIC - 0 | Lyra2RE | Decentralised | GPU Mineable | Open Source on: April 10, 2015, 07:02:31 PM
From what I can tell from my limited research, master nodes are on distributed servers that anyone can setup.

Anyway. So what's the plan for getting VTC moving, or do I need to read throw a thread history to catch-up?
You understood wrong. Masternodes are anything BUT decentralized. Im not gonna get into details, because Im tired of going trough this, but here is a nice post on the matter
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1001642.msg10949723#msg10949723
(I hope that a raging mob of darkcoin fanboys doesn't appear out of nowhere)
Just as jwitnerm said, Masternodes are totally against everything VTC stands for

As for the plans on "getting VTC moving"... there is this "Elasticity" feature coming up in the foreseeable future, but having in mind how elasticity really works, it will be more of a y0-y0 movement than anything else.
Other than that (example: advertizing, integration, publicity, communication, news, etc) - nope.

I've taken a good look now. I'm fairly happy that the master node concept is a good one. The links provided above don't fully match the reality of what is going on.

The actual coins are still operating on a blockchain. The nodes are performing services on demand, and they are doing it randomly. You would need to spend a vast sum to acquire enough nodes to sniff what is going on or to interfere with transactions.

I just don't see that being viable. At the moment, there is nothing of interest for people to invest the time or the effort attacking these projects. By the time they do become of interest you have to spend a lot.

Crave looks like a pump n dump, so worth a quick turn. Spreadcoin is worth watching. I seriously think VTC needs to look at a future evolution that incorporates nodes that provide services.
740  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: Vertcoin - 1 | ASIC - 0 | Lyra2RE | Decentralised | GPU Mineable | Open Source on: April 07, 2015, 08:45:38 AM
I've been out of crypto for a while.

I have a bunch of VTC and I was hoping that I could take a break from crypto and come back to find the value of my coins were up by quite a bit.

Anyway, I like the idea of merge mining with another project. Can we merge with Spread which uses their own version of x11, Spreadx11 (or something)?

I caught a retweet about their project and that sparked my interest again. They are building apps on master nodes that will run on the network. Maybe the two projects could build something together?

VTC with stealth addresses could build apps for open bazaar type markets within the wallet?

Seems unlikely that devs/community would be up for another hardfork just several months after the hardfork to Lyra2RE. Also, the whole masternodes thing kind of goes against the decentralization ethos which seems to be the at the core of vertcoin, imo.

From what I can tell from my limited research, master nodes are on distributed servers that anyone can setup.

Anyway. So what's the plan for getting VTC moving, or do I need to read throw a thread history to catch-up?
